The doctors and nurses listen. They are kind. They empathize authentically and they live up to their estimable reputation in every way. No one wants to be here. But I’m glad they are here for us.

A family member passed away recently at the hospital. I took my parents to the hospital so my dad can sign some papers. Reception lady didn’t even want to let him in. Finally said okay you can go but my mom and I had to stay by the desk. I asked if we can please go sit down and she said no since we weren’t patients. However when a white lady could go up to visit her love one she was able to sit down. I’m not sure if it was a race thing or not. But I would never bring my love ones to this hospital

I have no idea of the care my husband is getting. With COVID you are excluded from any conversations or support. Family is an after thought and only included if the patient needs help getting around or is a minor. No scheduled shared conversations only “oh you could have used duo to join”. Then when you do, there is no reception and they want you to use your personal phone. Trying to share pictures of scans through text. The last thing a patient wants to do is relive the day when they get in the car.MDA will only reach out to make sure you are picking them up after procedures to protect their liability. Drop off and pickup no communication - might as well be Uber. So angry and hurt that I have erected a wall around me. If I could give less than a star I would.

The billing department is absolutely atrocious to deal with. They do the bare minimum to communicate and are extremely rude. Ive had nothing but horrible experience with the billing department since Ive started making visits to MD Anderson. The facility itself is wonderful and the staff is extremely friendly though. However, speaking to the billing department, they make me feel like garbage for asking them to do the job they applied for. As if having cancer wasnt bad enough.

My husband has DIPG. It is a deadly brain cancer. Noone has survived it! His dr is great but the billing department needs alot of work. Not only does my husband have to fight for his life now he gets to fight with the billing department. They told us if treatment has stopped that we can negotiate the bill down to pennies on the dollar. But since his treatment will never stop we get to pay full price. How is this ethical?

I recently had my first appointment at MD Anderson. I was excited to be able to go here since they are supposed to be leading in cancer research. My first appointment and lack of contact since has been beyond disappointing as well as disconcerting. One of my appointments was an hour and a half behind schedule, of course this was after I had to sit in a cold room stripped from the waist up. At the same appointment that day I was told by a radiologist (NOT my doctor) that my original pathologist was wrong and misdiagnosed me. I therefore requested to reschedule my surgical consult until MD Anderson could contact me in regards to did I need the surgery, did I need another biopsy or did I need nothing. I called and was placed on hold for over 25 minutes, but of course no one answered and there was no voicemail for me to leave a message. So I proceeded to My Chart to request a reschedule and for someone to talk to me about what was going on. I waited past the 2 day time My Chart said it would take at most for someone to contact me and still no one contacted. So I tried calling again, this time was on hold for over 40 minutes and yet no one answered and no voicemail. I then messaged my doctor via My Chart and still no response. It is bad enough to be diagnosed with cancer, then to be told you were misdiagnosed by a radiologist and not my doctor (who I still have never spoken with or met) then to have no one contact you to find out whether you do or do not have cancer, whether you need a second biopsy or surgery or whether nothing needs to be done. Oh but it gets better, feeling anxious, as most people would be at this point, I log into My Chart hoping to see a response from anyone, or test/lab results or my documents that were sent in so I can see what someone, anyone is referring to...but the only thing I found because of course nothing else has been uploaded was an INCORRECT initial diagnosis someone entered, I presume mistakenly into My Chart. So is this why the radiologist said I had been misdiagnosed because the diagnosis typed into my chart was NOT mine? Either way I have tried to call again to figure out about my reschedule, seeing results and actually speaking to a person, anyone to find out what is going on and once again I was placed on hold...this time I hung up after 30 minutes. MD Anderson was supposed to be amazing and yet no one can contact me about my health and I guess there is no voicemail for me to access...so I lay here in limbo not knowing what is going on and MD Anderson cares so little that no one can email or call. Very disappointing. I would NOT recommend going here...it is not worth the malpractice.

Best place for cancer care! I love that they have regional care centers. I use the one in MD Anderson regional Cancer Centre - Katy. All the staff is absolutely dedicated! They are the best!!The Mays Clinic is great and offers a wide selection of needed departments for Breast cancer, integrative medicine, a terrific patient library & resource centre, and a fantastic Hospitality Centre, which includes a very nice quiet room to rest in between appointments. This is staffed by some very nice, caring volunteers!!

Ive met with three different doctors two different positions assistant and several nurses in 3 different departments that includes x-ray the pulmonary Department Internal Medicine and infectious control. I find the ease of the application seeing my test results and then one day having four different appointments as to not having to make several trips has made this much easier for me. I would say just the best place to be and I wish all the others have good outcome.

I really appreciate MD Anderson Cancer Center team for amazing work which they do for helping my husband stay alive!!! Especially thankful to dr. Elena Efstathiou. She is an amazing doctor and really cares for her patients. For example, she arranged multiple scans on a short notice when tests showed urgency. She and her team worked till late night to read scan results and put together an urgent treatment plan. They are really fighting for patients’ life. All personnel is very attentive and caring and they work hard around the clock. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. E. and MD Anderson team!

Chemo and radiation is a death wish. Dr Ramirez and his staff suggested this treatment knowing it was a bad decision. Lets face it, we are their lab rats and they get paid big money for these treatments that dont work. Pop another pill and another. Oh you have nausea, take this pill, but it causes constipation so take this pill but it will cause more nausea. What a joke! Facts are, chemo and radiation CAUSES CANCER. Do your research! Even if youre in remission, chances are youre getting cancer again and again. There is a cure and its called CBD and THC. NATURAL MEDS. Let thy food be your medicine. Thank you MD ANDERSEN - you all killed somebody close to my heart.

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had the surgery and treatment. She wasn’t treated with compassion and understanding like she should have. It upsets me greatly to hear her stories. Does anyone really keep track of anything there? Between Surgeons, oncologists, radiologist, Doctor’s? Every time she told them something doesn’t feel right they DO NOT LISTEN TO HER! NO WOMAN should be treated any less because of insurance!!My mom has to live with pain and discomfort for the rest of her life. It’s all about money.....

I am from Nashville Tennessee and have had my cancer treated by Dr Ueno, Dr Woodward and Dr Black and Dr Clemins. There are no words to describe the outstanding care I have received from each member of my team and all the people who make it possible for the Doctors to be so wonderful. Dr Ueno has an amazing women named Angela how always took time to talk with me and make me feel at ease as did Dr Lisa and of course Dr Ueno. Dr Ueno is a compassionate man who takes as much time as one needs to have all the questions one may have answered. I never felt intimidated, I always felt like I could ask any question no matter how stupid I thought it may sound. Dr Ueno is so patient and so compassionate, I felt like I was his only patient. I never felt afraid under the care of any of these wonderful people. The receptionist Rita always treated myself and others with a kind smile and a beautiful light. Dr Woodard and Monica were so compassionate as I went through radiation, and even called me in the evening to see how I was doing. The girls who gave the radiation were all upbeat and gentle as was Renee Henry my physical therapist. The ladies at the desk of the radiation check-in were so amazing how they remembered each persons name and said hello with a big smile before you even made it to the desk.I felt incredibly at peace and ease because the communication and kindness and most of all the Doctors clearly see each person as an individual, not a number. I flew every three weeks from TN for treatment and had my suregery at Md and all My radiation. I would not have changed one single thing about my care. Wonderful people. AllOf them. Other hospitals and offices could certainly benefit from following the same protocol as MdAnderson does.

The problems and frustrations with MD Anderson have been numerous. Do yourself a favor and strongly consider being treated elsewhere - I’m sure Methodist or Hermann has an equally qualified specialist. For the most part, the entire MD Anderson system has been a nightmare. Mays Clinic 7th floor is a zoo: always way behind schedule; Dr’s put their egos ahead of patient care and treatment (especially GI/GU Medical Oncologist Dr. E).None of the departments or branches communicate with each other. And the whole place is very inefficient - you have to fill out paper forms at every desk asking the same things. They enter things in the computer (even weight, BP, etc) but then want to do it again at the next desk.Scheduling (and the multiple reschedulings) is a disaster. And the Patient Advocate thing is a joke - At least 3 calls to our supposed Advocate were never returned. (You’d think each one has a backup if yours is unavailable.)The only bright spot at this place has been Lauren Palmer PA and Dr Chad Tang (GI/GU Radiation Oncology). That’s the ONLY reason for 2 stars vs 1.

There are many kind, hard-working people working at MDA who are the heart and soul of the organization. Unfortunately this description doesnt apply to everyone who works there. I had a horrible experience at MDA breast center with the staff in oncology. For approx. 2 years, I had a nodule/mass just inches from original cancer site that no physician or nurse ordered be evaluated or imaged. This mass was visible and palpable upon every visit. Even worse, not a single provider documented the existence of this mass in my medical file. During this timeframe my onco, Dr. Litton, also transferred my care to a N.P. without even discussing it with me. After discovering the mass was indeed cancer, Dr. Litton treated me very callously. I also expressed my feelings about the sub-standard care I received and Dr. Litton actually suggested I needed to speak to a therapist! Based on my experiences, I have come to the conclusion that 1) the breast center is reactive instead of proactive and 2) the center often puts the needs of the clinic before the needs of the patient.

The Mays Clinic at MD Anderson Cancer Center IS the best place in the world to get treated for Uro-Genital Cancer. They saved my life, with the blessings of God. Thank you, Dr. Pagliaro and MD Anderson Cancer Center! However, the billing staff and business office here are horrible. They make you feel like all that stands between you and your cure is $35 - even if you dont have it. Not even when I called the Patient Advocate did things change much. For this, and the fact that the billing lady actually made me cry, I hated this experience. But, theyre the best so...

So we are traveling back and forth from Mississippi, feeling that there is no better place to go. Thanks to the staff of the Mays Clinic and especially, Dr.Ashish Kamat, I am now cancer free, after 2 surgeries, and I begin my BCG treatments there this week.
