Poor management, disorganization, rude scheduler, uts a very toxic environment. You don want to work here

Compared to at least one other home health company, TheraCare was a much more efficient service. However, I gave it only 3 stars because I repeatedly had issues of confusion re: communication with their nurses and even the office administration. There were a few weeks where I would be forced to go without lab work or a central line dressing change (due weekly) from my nurse (I asked my drs to do it instead during appts whenever there was a scheduling conflict w/ my regular nurse). Multiple times I asked the office supervisor to inform me directly with at least a half day’s notice regarding any potential scheduling conflicts that might possibly leave me without home health nursing care for the week. I made this request because I don’t like being left out of the loop concerning my own health maintenance. Each time, he assured me I would be contacted, and only toward the end of the year in December was I regularly informed about nursing changes and scheduling conflicts. As far as the quality of the nursing care itself, it was adequate as the nurses were properly trained and competent 90% of the time. Still, the issue of me not having been informed of scheduling/nursing changes due to date/time conflicts, did end up being a significant source of stress. The office had a policy of informing the nurses, but not the patients, so it wasn’t unusual for my regular nurse to simply not show up (without contact or an explanation for such), and then for another nurse whom I hadn’t even previously met to randomly call me and “tell” me when she could come to do my weekly lab work and dressing change (sometimes with just an hour’s notice). For the administrative office to allow this to happen was a continual insult that my concerns, needs, and even health were not of the utmost priority to TheraCare because they valued their nurses having all the knowledge concerning my care above me having knowledge of my own care. So they excel in some areas, but there is also a wealth of room in which they have to grow.
