I really wish I could give these guys a - 5 stars!! they are horrible and the people in customer service dont know s***t! they keep raising their rates every year and when you cancel with them you have to fight to get your refund that is due to you. I canceled my service with them in December and was told that I should be receiving a check in the mail in 7 to 10 business days which was cool. I waited till Feb and called only to find out it was never requested! Since I had auto pay I will receive it in 24 hrs in my bank. NEVER HAPPENED! called back and said it was not fast racked!?! so we id that and was told to wait another 24 hrs! I waited 3 days and called back and was told the request was still pending and was not able to give me a time frame!!! WHAT!! I am still waiting should have had it 2 months ago! Never recommend them to any one you care about!

Google needs to revise there 1-5 star rating system to 0-5 stars. This company DESERVES 0 stars! The only thing I can count on BCBSTX to do consistently and reliably is lose me in there system....all 4 times. Dont put it past them to lie to you ether. They have to me!

Most doctors do not take the insurance even when the insurance company says they do. Also, many of the doctors who do have practices no where near your house they feel driving 50-100 miles with a newborn for a Dr appointment is acceptable.

After reading the reviews, Im swallowing hard. Just got away from my half decent carrier because they went up 25 percent in one year and I couldnt afford :over $2200/mo. for a family of four. Now Im trying. to find a PCP in the BC directory that scores higher than a 2/5 in the online reviews....not happening.Funny to think of these guys as the New Mafia: big shots forcing us to buy overpriced, subpar services, with few, if any options. And if you link all of that to declining health for all, you could say they kill, too.

I switched from COBRA United Health Care to a BCBS Anthem Colorado plan. BIG MISTAKE. I have spent hours on phone hold. I have been given incorrect information several times. Still trying to find out why I cannot print a temporary ID card off my logged in website. Still trying to find out why my credit card was charged twice the same day for my premium. Even the corporate office has me on hold for over 15 minutes now.

I dont know whats with all the negative reviews of this place; I have a couple friends that work here and they say its great. They offer monthly contests with gift cards to great local restaurants like Olive Garden, Torchys, etc. to whoever can deny the most claims. Theres also prizes for most creative claim denials; that went to someone who denied coverage to a young child with brain cancer who successfully argued that the cancer was cosmetic. I have also heard that they are offering a free weekend getaway to Waco to the person who issues their one billionth claim denial. Every day the employees come in energized and excited about their mission to deny healthcare.

One star is too much. I wish I could give zero stars. Ive been on the phone with them for two days straight, only to be transferred from person to person. I spoke with two supervisors and it seems as if nobody can help me. To top it off, they lost my application! I absolutely hate this company and their useless workers.

Their customer service is really horrible. If you call, the people you talk to have absolutely no power to get things done. All they can ever do is put in a request for it to be done. There is no accountability. You can call over and over, and all you will get are different people all saying that they dont have any authority and that they will put in a request. No one can connect you to anyone else who has any power. Leaves the customer feeling helpless. This has happened more thsn once. Kind of no point in hiring these customer service people when they cant do anything more than the website.

I called yesterday and was treated like I was a new recruit in the Marines.This woman was extremely rude and and when I asked her to please speak in a kinder voice as I felt I was not welcome as a custome. She replied to that request rudely as well.I have been a BCBS customer most of my life. I can only speculate why the customer service has gone down hill. I feel sorry for those who actually have to use this company to save their lives. I am currently healthy and have had very few claims in my lifetime. I am in the process of changing now.

I had the displeasure of speaking with BCBS today. The woman I spoke with started arguing with me. She asked which number I called to reach her. When I told her, she told me I was wrong and that I needed to call a different number. I thanked her for giving me the second number and assured her that I did call the first number. She told me this couldnt be correct and that I must be wrong.A petty waste of time from a customer service representative.

Ive had BCBSTX since 2009 and they used to be great. Now every time I talk to a rep I get different information (or incorrect information) and find out the previous rep did not follow through. After 8 hours of time wasted and no solution I filed with the Texas Department of Insurance. Guess what..... they are now paying attention to me. If you have been wronged file a complaint with the TX Dept of Ins. and then they cant ignore you.

I would give Zero stars but that is not an option.I have had BCBSTX through my employer for almost 10 years.It has been my only choice, They recently took away my cousins individual PPO plan, and only offer the useless HMO plans now, I had always had pride in being from Texas but no more.

Absolutely the worst customer service in the industry. I have spoken to at least eight ( 8 ) customer service agents and have gotten a different answer each time.I had a hip surgery and that is where I started to get my education in health insurance.There is really no accountability for what each agent says.I am paying my premiums without fail and they have steadily gone up but I can not get an agent that can tell me what is in my policy!!!!!!It is time to seriously consider filing a complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance.

Probably the worst insurance company ever, i have no idea how they are still in business. I had paid a 2000+ premium two weeks before i got sick, and when i was sick yesterday these i waited three hours at the emergency room just for them to tell me that they could not treat me because they had canceled my account for nonpayment. So i called today and they hung up on me 3-4 times with a 45 minute hold time each time, only for them to tell me that my check bounced. When i checked my bank statements it says that the amount was paid and had not bounced at all. THESE PEOPLE TOOK MY MONEY AND THEN SHUT OFF MY ACCOUNT FOR NONPAYMENT WHEN I ACTUALLY NEEDED IT THE MOST! I have been trying to get my account turned back on to day but each time i get hung up on, i have wasted my whole day with no progress. I am still sick and have no clue what to do.

Reps give bad info (said that bronze plan would pay just like the previous silver plan when, in reality, it really only paid 60%), insurance is too high and pays for nothing. Self pay was cheaper than using BXBS! Now, the premiums are so HIGH that we just dont go to the doctor at all now. They are rude - verging on hostile - and its the only option available in rural Texas and to top it all off, they want to force you to use the local hospitals, even when you can get far better care in town and its just as close. The fees went from 500 - to over a thousand now and its not (now or ever was) worth a dime. I hope they overhaul (* edit - I hope they do away with) Obamacare. These insurance companies are a worthless, profit mongering nuisance, that serves no purpose. They are an impediment to proper healthcare and a general pool, paid into by everyone would do more and get better results. Get rid of these over execs dragging down millions each year and driving up the cost of healthcare with their excessive paperwork and bureaucracy and kick backs.

Hope I can help someone with this review. STAY AWAY from bcbstx, I like everybody else that leaves bad reviews here. Customer service sucks, normal wait time on the phone is 2+ hours, only do you have to wait 2 hours, but the whole time your on hold - you must listen to their stupid ad - over and over again. Once I turned it down so low... I miss them staying hello. I had to call back took 1/2 my day for some bullshit.JUST STAY AWAY, then you will never know how frustrating and terrible an insurance company can be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas should be forced to go out of business until they decide to be fair to the public. Their worthless HMOs are all they offer unless you work for a big company. HMOs are worthless, who wants to pay money and be forced to see drs they dont want. If they are not willing to offer PPOS to the public than their license should be revoked. We need them to play the game correctly or not at all.!!!!!

I absolutely hate their customer service. Very rude and unprofessional. The woman I spoke with on the phone sounded very unpleasant and redirected to 2 different people that didnt help much at all (I waited 15 mins). The line somehow disconnected and I called the second time and waited another 15 mins and right when the woman picked up and asked for my members ID she HUNG up on me right away! Unbelievable. I had to find other ways to deal with my issue no thanks to the terrible service.

It is the worst insurance I have ever had. In the past, Ive used United Health, Atnea, and Tricare. This is by far the worst. After filling out and submitting my forms before the end of the year, everyone received an email to register at their website. Myself and a handful of employees had not even been submitted into their system. Someone obviously dropped the ball. Our rep Melissa was contacted and she did what she had to do to get us added in. I called everyday to see if I was in their system finally, first Im told to wait 24 hours, then 38 hours.Fast forward, I take my son for a regular check up to find out hes not insured. I called BCBS to find out why Im paying for a family plan and my son is not included on my insurance, they said someone named Amy in their service department must have left him off transferring the information over. So after driving all the way to the doctors office, waiting in a room for an hour....only to find out my son was uninsured. All I could think about is what would have happened had an emergency arose? The doctors office turned my son away because he was uninsured This is a terrible insurance company, they need to do a total overhaul and fix their problems. My first impression of BCBS sucks. Who is going to refund me in gas + time wasted? Someone had to miss work and go unpaid to take my son. My son missed school for what? I paid money for service we didnt even have, where is the reimbursement for all of that?

Had a PPO for over year then couldnt buy that anymore and got shoved into HMO and the doctors I had history with I no longer could use. Then the problems start find new doctor but you can only use their crappy website. Im currently on hold now 23 mins just to talk to someone about why my login credentials arent working which worked fine 2 hours ago. I get someone at 31 mins, Scott, and he is clueless about everything and is sooo slow that my dead 82 year old grandma could have out maneuvered him. I now have created 8 different passwords via Scotts reset and still cant login to find a doctor that I can be referred to thats on the only online list there is. Meanwhile Ive now plugged in my cell phone to charge as this call now is 1 hour long and nothing to show and nothing to search and find. 1:12 mins later Im toldi have a ticket number 1-xxxxxxx and to call back in 48-72 hours. Afterwards Im asked to complete the survey from when automation asked at the beginning and so I started with rankings of Poor, poor, poor, and then the automation said we are having technical difficulties please call back later.....OMG SMH

BCBS has Zero Customer Service and no Supervisor will talk to customers. After their 55% increase for 2017, we cancelled insurance in December by mail because they would not talk to us on phone. But BCBS ignored our letter cancelling service and continues to bill us. Have listened to their irritating music for hours while waiting for no help.

AVOID signing up with BCBST. Our experience with customer service at BCBS has been the same as everyone else that has written a review here.If youre still thinking about it keep in mind that unless you qualify for a special enrollment period (e.g. pregnant, change in income, permanently change residences) OR during open enrollment and before your coverage takes effect, you are locked in until the next open enrollment period. The next open enrollment period begins November 15, 2014.

I would give this a negative rating if I could. Let me explain why. My in-laws switched their Medicare Supplement Care from Aetna to BCBSTX because my father-in-laws prior company dropped all retiree plans. We applied, were accepted, and have made payments for both my mother-in-law and father-in-law. We even put BCBSTX on auto bill pay and made payments well in advance of due dates. Effective date is 1-1-14. Theyve never received ID cards. Here is my problem. Every time I phone and enter the member number and DOB as requested - no application found. I have to hold in excess of 60 minutes (on hold right now - 1 hr 30mins and counting) while waiting for the next customer advocate to be with me shortly. (SHORTLY?? ADVOCATE??) When I try to order the cards online I have to set up an account online and enter the member ID number, group number, email address, etc. OK, the ID number is on the invoice so thats not an issue. The problem is the Group number - that is found ON THE CARD. Helloooo?? This is the most time-wasting, non-customer friendly, absurd process I have ever seen. My advice? Go elsewhere.

I am a heart patient. Since, January I have been trying to get this to correct my billing for me. They have sent several emails making promises to make these changes. Six months later nothing has happen. I went to the ER last night, and the Dr refused to see me, refuse to write a prescription, and they sent me home. Also, told me to go to a clinic for services. The customer service agent I spoke with this morning, had an anger issue going on with her. She told me to shut, and listen to what she had to say. I was alarmed, and when I said that is not how you speak to ppl over the phone. She rebuttal stating she was grown and do what she wanna do. If, I had know it would be this much problem I would have selected another insurance company. Once open enrollment start again, they will be dropped. And today, I will be calling the Insurance commission on them, and complaint via media also. Most doctor office will not accept Blue Advantage Insurance because they said it was new to them.
