I have had a moderate hearing loss for many years. Recent, during the pandemic, I had a sudden severe loss which left me almost completely deaf. My experience with hearing aids had been far from satisfactory. Usually I was tested, then fitted with a hearing device and sent on my way without the needed support and care. I needed to get help.I turned to “Hears to U” and found that they use a very different approach. They emphasize getting to know you and your specific hearing loss. I was tested, then given opportunity to try out a variety of devices until a good fit was achieved. Adapting to hearing aids can be very difficult, but because of their care and support I was able to achieve significant improvement.I strongly recommend Kim at “Hears to U” because of her understanding of the evolving hearing aid technology and how to help the patient learn to successfully use it.Richard R

Im definitely not a techie kind of person! Even the idea of using my smartphone to control my hearing aid was intimidating. But, with the upbeat encouragement and simple instructions I received from Kim Fishman at Hears to U, I began experimenting with different aids and getting more comfortable with the technology. By the time Id selected the perfect aid for me, Kim joked that I could almost be her audiologist assistant!This was a much more investigative process than Id ever experienced before in selecting a hearing aid. (Especially when Id shopped at a warehouse store.) I was given the opportunity to try different aids, get good, thorough testing over a period of time, learn about my particular hearing loss, and keep working on finding the optimal aid for me.Im really grateful for this experience of good, individualized care. I had an excellent experience with outstanding advance communication. I filled out my paperwork, was asked about my expected outcome. My insurance was reviewed, I was not authorized to use as a provider, but felt it was worth the investment personally to work with a neighborhood small business. I was very pleased with the process, follow up, recommendations, and shared knowledge. I cant give a higher recommendation.

Ive been wearing hearing aids since I was 4 years old, alternating between Resound and Widex behind-the-ear hearing aids to help me with my mild-moderate hearing loss.I had a nice pair of Widex hearing aids that lasted me 8 years and then I started searching for a new pair with more features, customizability, and bluetooth.I first went to a Starkey dealer and was disappointed to learn that they had a very limited selection. The sounds were not as crisp and clear as I had hoped, so I returned them during my trial.I searched for more hearing aid dealers and came across Hears to U, where I met Kim and she had 3 different brands for me to choose from. She let me have a trial with the newest Widex, Resound, and Opticon hearing aids.I tried each pair for a week to compare their sounds and features before we finally settled on Resound. I like the phone app, charging case, and clarity of sound. Kim was very helpful in helping me decide which pair worked best for me because everyone has unique needs and lifestyles.Im very happy that I got a new pair of hearing aids that help me hear better and make life easier!

Kim and her staff are extraordinary! Very friendly, helpful, professional, and thoroughly deserving of a 10 star rating (although the highest rating is 5, I give them 10!).She solved a major issue with my Widex hearing aid in minutes, as well as checked my ears comprehensively, all very thoroughly and quickly.Then she topped that fabulous service with no charge.Why would I go anywhere else?Oh, and she has a great sense of dry humor! Im in a trap league and wanted some custom molded ear protection so i could get rid of those oversized muffs and get a better cheek weld. Kim was very helpful in getting a mold made. At first the plugs came back and didnt perform as well as I had hoped but that was no problem for Kim. She was able to get another pair made that went a little deeper into my ear canal and I am very satisfied with the product.

I got excellent care at Chears. I had been disappointed by the hearing aids I tried at another audiologist and was reluctant to try again. However, Kim at Chears gave me several different kinds to try after listening carefully to my concerns. She is very knowledgeable about how hearing loss affects people differently and the need to find the right hearing aid and then calibrate it to give me the best sound. Chears has Saturday hours!! so it is easy to get an appointment. Her costs are far more reasonable than other places Ive checked. I highly recommend her. All the people I worked with at Chears really want me to hear better. Also, this is the first review I have ever written.

Ive been very impressed with the caring and service Ive received at Chears. This is my first experience with hearing aids. Kim and her staff patiently explained the ins and outs of hearing loss and modern hearing aid technology. They also helped me demo several different brands at different price points over the course of several weeks. That experience was invaluable. I was able to find sound quality that I liked with the features I wanted (especially T-loop and rechargeable batteries), all at a reasonable price. Highly recommended!

The folks at Chears are the best. My hearing aids were four years old and I started investigating to see if newer technology might improve my hearing. Im a musician and thought my playing days may be numbered. Kim is very professional and a trained audiologist. She tested my hearing and made a recommendation, I was amazed. I brought in my instrument and she put together a music specific program that works incredibly well. She has continued to tweak the aids and they keep getting better. I highly recommend.

Wonderful service and friendly people. Chears has the best service as I can hear better after my hearing test. We discussed my using a neck loop and a device to help me hear TV. Kim never tried to sell me new products. She helped me to use my hearing aids better. I will be back next spring for ear molds. What a great experience.

Like you I barely need hearing aids. Its not because I am old or broken in any way. Its because everyone who is important to me talks at a pitch I dont hear very well. Kim understands our situations. Like me she will help you find aids that arent just the coolest but the ones that work best. When you visit expect to have fun because the entire crew is all about the joy of hearing. And dont forget there is ample parking in the lot next door (which means it easier to visit than Costco).

I was all set to go to Costco, but after looking into it further, came to the conclusion that I would still be paying a lot for hearing aids, so it was critical to have a GOOD Audiologist. My husband researched & wanted me to try Chears. I just LOVE this place...Kim is awesome & spent a long time testing me, then had me try some demos for a week to see what I thought of them. To my surprise, she carries the whole line Costco does at their price & I could not be happier!!! It boggles my mind finding out I hadnt ever heard our air purifier running, as well as many other things. I can run the TV @ level 17 compared to 30 before. Getting good hearing aids is important, but having good testing with unbelievable follow up is critical.

We visited Kim at her new Chears location and had a lovely afternoon meeting her new staff. After getting my husband’s hearing aids serviced, which Kim generously did for us, we enjoyed a walk around “Eat Street” (Nicollet Ave), and had a great coffee and donut stop. Great experience. Kim is really knowledgeable and been in the industry a long time. Location is great. Parking on the street is plentiful as well as in the lot next to the store. The experience was great. She did a throughout hearing test. They have a lot of product to choose from and will work with you on price and with your insurance. I am so happy I found Chears Audiology, Kim and Jeffery! I have a history of noise exposure as I am a hunter and previously worked in construction so have a noise induced hearing loss. This shop is one of the only ones I could find in the Metro area that could/would reprogram hearing aids that they did not sell to me.Kim and Jeffrey are consummate professionals, who know their trade well. Kim offered me a variety of different options and took the time to clearly explain what I would be getting with each different level of pricing.Add to that an environmental conscience and a healthy does of social altruism, and this is the only place I will be going to for hearing related needs from here on out! :)

So many genuine 5-star reviews, that’s what impressed me when I first came across Chears online. On my first visit I was impressed by the beautiful “cheary” office, and by the friendliness of the staff, Kim and Devin, who welcomed me. I knew then that I had made the right choice. After testing my hearing, Kim let me try three brands of hearing aids over the next few weeks (for free), finally settling on one model, with which I’m completely satisfied. My hearing is now so much better that I almost forget what it was like just a month ago. I knew for several years that I had a hearing loss but put off doing anything about it because I didnt know how/where to start. A friend was pleased with the service from Kim at Chears Audiology so I made an appointment. So glad I did. Kim is knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. Her office is calm and welcoming and parking is easy in the attached lot.I am now hearing conversations at restaurants and in the car and have turned off the captions on the TV. Cant imagine why anyone would buy hearing devices on-line or over the counter; the do-it-yourself approach is not appropriate for something this important. The services of professional programming and adjustments for MY ears were essential to a successful outcome.

I use hearing aids for 6 years, I never had just a great fitting. I no longer take it off during the day; it’s a perfect fit. I think Kim’s magic was that she first took the time to find out what MY needs were, and not to try to sell me the top of the line. Unlike a previous experience I had at a large healthcare provider, where they didn’t give me any choices in hearing aids or do any follow up. I called Kim after my dog pulled the receiver out of my Oticon Hearing Aid. It was a Saturday and I just found her doing google search for someone who carried Oticon. She was so accommodating even thought I hadnt purchased the hearing aids from her! Not only that, after she repaired it she offered some suggesting for how I might improve my hearing with several dome styles that she sampled for me. She has some sale priced aids that are comparable in price to Costco, and talked about the how she feels she needs to provide valuable service to compete with low prices like theirs. Highly recommend!

I lost my hearing aid. My last vendor did not tell me that I had a 3 year warranty for loss and damage so I went without my hearing aid for 3 months and finally decided I needed an new one. Bracing myself for the out of pocket cost, I decided to look for the cheapest option. I researched Costco, read reviews and decided to call Kim Fishman because Chears was close to home. When I called to make my appointment, the office manager asked if my hearing aid was under warranty. Before I arrived for my appointment Susan had discovered I had a warranty and my new, better hearing aid would cost me a fraction of the full price. In addition, Kim realized that a standard ear piece did not fit well and recommended a custom mold instead. Chears is a great place for good care and excellent customer service. I encourage anyone who needs hearing care should come to Chears.

I can hear conversations again!!! Seriously, I was missing key pieces of conversations, especially in crowded places such as coffee shops and restaurants. The new blue tooth-enabled aids permit me to program how to hear in a given environment, including watching TV. And I love how my phone conversations are more private via my blue tooth connection.Kim was thorough and very patient with me as I became more comfortable with the devices. I am so fortunate to have escaped the VA through the Veteran’s Choice program because I found Kim. The quality of service I received from her was significantly better. I had Resound hearing aids the VA gave me that I didn’t like at all. Kim walked me though all the different brands she offered and spoke of the upside and downside of each.Then she gave me a loaner pair of Siemens hearing aids and I didn’t like those either. Then she gave me some loaners for Widex and I absolutely loved them. For anyone who loves music, this is the brand I would recommend. But without Kim I would have only gotten something “good enough” from the VA, but with my hearing I wanted some help in getting the “best possible”. I am very happy with my new hearing aids and very happy with Kim.

Chears was recommended to me while shopping at Costco. I had just stopped by the kiosk to review their selection of Hearing Aids. Ironically, I walked away and I noticed this woman was wearing a hearing aid. Knowing I was in the market for one, I decided to ask her if she had purchased it there. I wish I could give Kim and her assistant, Susan, more than 5 stars. Newly diagnosed with severe hearing loss as a 27 year old woman, I first met Kim as an emotional wreck and still struggling to find the best audio settings in my aids that fit my needs at work. Struggling to find words to explain exactly what I was and was not hearing, tears filled my eyes. Kim wrapped me in the warmest hug and led me to her office where she listened to me explain my situation and then immediately got to work. I will never forget her kindness and compassion, not to mention her exceptional knowledge and skill in her field. Not only did she maximize the sound in my aids, she fit me with perfectly fitting ear buds - remaking the molds until they were perfect. And Susan, her assistant, is just as knowledgeable and helpful and kind as Kim. I was in and out of the office many times over the span of a couple months while Kim and I worked on the settings, not happy until she was confident that I was hearing as perfectly as I could. Now, I am able to hear beautifully with comfortable molds, and I can actually call these two women friends.The office is warm and inviting, and they always have some kind of goody or treat prepared for their clients along with water or fresh coffee, and a never-ending supply of genuine smiles that make you feel like they couldnt be happier to see you. As a speech pathologist, I did an exhaustive search vetting audiologists for my 89 years young, very active, but hearing aid adverse, father. I would have loved to have experience all the great reviews left by many of Kim Fishmans clients, however Chears Audiology refuses to provide me an interpreter. They said I have to bring my own interpreter.... WOW! I thought we were in the 21st century! I first learned about Chears online and wanted a small local business to help me with my hearing loss. Being a newby to the whole process I contacted them and talked with Kim directly before making an appointment. She made me feel comfortable and gave me the knowledge and information I needed to help me ease into the realization of my loss. I stopped in to Audiology to get my hearing checked as I listen to a lot of music each day, sometimes a little bit louder than I should. I am also a Q tip user and was concerned about the possibility that I was pushing wax into my ear.The examination was very quick and painless and the equipment they have is rather impressive. Something I havent encountered before (Though, this is my first hearing test since grade school). The test took about 10 minutes and everything checked out quite fine! I found out that my hearing is actually better than average except for one frequency (which I think my wifes voice falls under) and my Q-tip technique must be working as I didnt have any wax in my ears. It was great finding all of this out.If you are concerned about your hearing or do need hearing aids, I recommend you give Audiology a visit. I am happy I wont have to visit them for awhile, but it doesnt mean you shouldnt.

I love Kim and am really grateful I found this place. Im a college student so Im originally not from this area. When my old hearing aids broke, I needed someone to fix them and stumbled across Chears. I had a really awesome experience and ended up getting some new updated hearing aids. Kims very patient and tried out a few options with me. My schedule is also pretty tight this semester, and Kim worked around my schedule a lot, which I appreciate so much. I recommend Kim with no hesitance!

My 90 year old dad originally went to Chears because it was conveniently located across the street from his apartment, but he kept going back because Kim was a very good audiologist. In addition, she was patient, caring, and genuinely interested in him as a person. As Dads health and hearing declined Kim and Susan persistently worked through the red tape at the VA to get funding for his much needed new hearing aids. When Dad passed away, Kim reconfigured the aids so that my mother could use them. Mom tells me that she hears much better with these than with her old ones. Thank you Kim for suggesting this and for the care youve shown for my parents!

I was not sure about having to find them on Nicollet Ave from Robbinsdale but the drive was easy and free off street parking is right next to their building. Kim took time to understand my specific hearing problem and offered different solutions to try and different products. You don’t have to be a 1000 years old to enjoy the benefits of hearing aids!I knew my hearing wasn’t the greatest, but I never realized just how much effort I was expending just to hear the normal day to day. Also how my limitations forced me to withdraw from certain social situations perticularly in crowded environments. Sooo -- I went to the new Chears office in Minneapolis yesterday--its modern and a big upgrade in product offerings and prices too! I had my yearly hearing test, purchased new chargeable batteries for my hearing aids, and was given services at no charge, just because I referred someone to their practice. The service is personal and the environment is friendly and welcoming, AND they get it when you cant hear them:)

I noticed I was having trouble hearing in my 30’s. Turns out I had a genetic hearing loss. I basically just dealt with it for about 10 years until I couldn’t ignore it any longer.My first experience with a hearing aid shop was pretty much what I expected. One guy with a receptionist that didn’t know how to answer any questions and a basic hearing test . I was told yes I need hearing aids and made my first purchase with pretty much nothing to compare them to.Over the next several years I still struggled with hearing loss. I noticed that the very expensive hearing aids I had were limited. The other issue I was having was I am a part time musician and play in an orchestra. I could not hear what the conductor was saying yet my hearing aids made the music sound distorted. I was frustrated!!Unfortunately I let this go on for far too long. I noticed that I was struggling to hear at work and the hearing aids I had were just really uncomfortable so I was not really good at using them all the time. I started to get used to being in a silent world again and I started to withdraw.As 2019 approached I realized that this was the year to address some issues that I was struggling with. My hearing was at the top of the list.I have what I consider to be a pretty good intuitive sense when it comes to a business or individual. I found a charming ( yes a charming) little hearing aid shop called Chears Audiology in Minneapolis. I loved the colors in their store and all the different technology to choose from. They had coffee and they had treats and they seemed really fun for a hearing aid place. But more than that I loved what they said on their website. Community focused, updated technology, musician friendly!! What??? Wow this is pretty cool stuff so far!!Also the staff was so responsive and kind when I would call there. Jeffrey one of the staff members was warm, funny and answered a lot of initial questions. I made an immediate appointment with some hope for my hearing aid future!!!As I walked into this cute little shop for the first time it did not disappoint. Yes coffee and treats and so organized and colorful. But meeting Kim Fishman was the biggest treat. I immediately connected with her warm and down to earth nature. Someone I would totally hang out with! I had another hearing test that was way overdue and we started talking about my needs. This time it was really different. Kim asked detailed questions about how my hearing loss affects me and what my challenges are? She wanted to make sure she could show me the most appropriate device for my situation. I even got to take home testers for a couple of months to make sure the hearing aids I was interested in worked well for me.So what actually happened?? I got some really cool hearing aids that actually hook up with Blue Tooth on my phone!! Way cool! I can now use them at orchestra practice and the sound is amazing. And mine are hot pink so if I drop them on the floor….. Voila!! ( or rather Violin) there they are!!So if you have hearing loss don’t wait like I did to check out your options. Go visit Kim and after you are done go have lunch or breakfast at one of the many fun restaurants in the area. It’s a cute area with a funky vibe and easy to park.Let’s HEAR what 2019 has to say!!

Kim was very thorough and helped me to understand the read out showing my high frequency hearing loss. I left Chears knowing she cares about my situation, and keeping track of it. Also, knowing that I am in noisy situations at times, she had great tips on protecting my hearing, and great recommendations on products to protect my ears while hunting, without blocking natural sounds. It was so cool to see her after 30 plus years and have her check my hearing to boot!

I have been working at Chears Audiology for a little over two months now. My dad has a hearing loss that Kim helps both of us understand what was best for him. My dad getting two hearing aids has not only changed his life but has changed my life also. Hearing loss affects more then just the person that has the hearing loss. I am no longer raising my voice, repeating myself and getting annoyed at how loud the TV was.

I cant imagine a better experience. Kim is the most loving audiologist ever. Her personal touch is so much better than my previous experiences at CostCo. I came to Hears to U (and Kim Fishman) after years of struggle with another team of audiologist who told me they could do nothing more for my hearing loss. Turns out - - they were right - - they didn’t have the skill, the intuition or the training! Lucky for me, a friend turned me on to Chears, where Kim opened my world. Something there is in her way of testing, listening, caring and fitting devices - - - I now hear the birds, my barking dog, and most importantly - the laughter of my grandchildren. Thanks, Kim! After missing out on conversations I finally decided to explore hearing aids. Kim and her staff were relaxed and attentive in finding the right hearing aids, Widex Evoke 440, for my particular needs. They have a large selection of hearing aids and accessories in the office, off street parking and located in the heart of eat street with restaurants galore within walking. Kim uses RealEar measurements to check that the hearing aids match your hearing loss and customized the settings and programs on the hearing aids.

My husband and I both had hearing tests at Chears Audiology. We werent surprised to learn he has a hearing loss, but I was surprised to learn I have a mild loss as well! I had a very good experience with Kim and her team at Chears Audiology. They were and are still very professional about testing for my hearing loss and making sure my new aids are set up and working well for me. I have been extremally pleased with my new hearing experiences. I had forgotten what some things actually sound like. It is fun getting reacquainted with these new sounds. I am kind of techy, so these modern aids are fun and easy to adjust with my Iphone. Kim’s staff helped me get this this all set up on my phone.The reason I went to Chears in the first place has to do with Kim’s philosophy on truly helping people hear and enjoy life better. A few years ago I was searching for some one to help us with our grandson’s hearing loss. He lives with his mother in Canada but was here for a few months in the summer. She had sent him without his aids and Kim was the only professional in the twin cities who work with us and provide loner aids for the short time he was here. She showed great compassion for our grandson and we have been going back ever since.

#1, Kim did an excellent job of analyzing what my hearing needs were. #2, she listened to my concerns about having some big hearing aids hanging out of my ears. I didnt want to look like an old person. After all, Im only 75 and very young, actually. She recommended some small aids that fit into my ear canals. Hardly visible to inquiring minds. Kim Fishman was my audiologist for a three year period. She is a highly competent audiologist - empathetic, cordial, professional in every respect. Her move to Chears Audiology makes it difficult to visit Chears Audiology. At my age (85) long distant travel is no longer advisable. I would strongly recommend Kim Fishman and her care particularly to older patient. I experienced that and give her an A Plus for anyone seeking an excellent audiologists care.
