BEWARE OF UNPROFESSIONAL EYE CARE!!!! The absolute worst experience Ive ever had at any business in my life!!! I left the office in a hurry after the extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable ordeal with the saleswoman who happens to be part owner and married to the Dr.! No wonder she was so smug talking down to a patient! Shes not worried about losing her job! The doctor called my employer and told them that they are calling the police and filing a lawsuit against me over $30 that I didnt pay before I left! They never called me, emailed me, or mailed me a bill! They just called my employer and said I walked out on the bill and stole their prescription which theyre billing my insurance for anyways. Who in their right mind would pay hundreds of dollars for glasses without even seeing what they are being charged for? When I asked to see the form the rude wife saleswoman refused, shaking her head waving her hand and said No! Its medical terminology you dont even know what it means! And then refused to order my glasses, I replied oh OK I see why you have such bad reviews online, to which she replies well whyd you come here then! I got up and walked out and called her what she is. Stay away from this place unless you want to have your work life disrupted by unprofessional Scum!

Dr. Pittman and his staff are amazing! They take the time to make sure you are well informed with your examination to purchasing your glasses! Very well pleased with this business!

Horrible customer service by the staff.Ann, the office manager, is extremely unprofessional and argumentative. This is the second time I have had an unpleasant experience with this office and will not return. The most unfortunate thing is the Dr was awesome. If he would just get a staff that was better at communication and people skills this office would be great.

Doctor Pittman provides the best service available anywhere to his patients. To stay qualified with the newest developments in his career field he studies long hours on his own and attends several seminars annually. You cannot ask for more than that.

My family and I have been using Dr. Pittman for years. He is a wonderful doctor and very knowledgeable. He always takes time to give us a thorough exam and never cuts corners to rush to the next patient. He educates me on my conditions and that of my children. He makes sure that we understand what is going on with our eyes because he truly cares about the health of our eyes. He expects the best from his staff and is not satisfied with anything less. I highly recommend Dr. Pittman.

I had a wonderful experience with my husband at this doctor. He seemed very knowledgeable about the eyes and when I went there I was questioned about all my medical history. The really want to get down to business and see what your needs are.

Ive never been seen by Dr. Pittman the first time. I was referred to his practice by my brother. Ive been trying to purchase prescription glasses, so I can wear when Im riding motorcycles. I purchased some Oakleys through SSI but the Rx was way off and I had to send them back. Since I had my eye exam and prescription from a different doctor, I was told by the staff that they would do a refraction to ensure the prescription that I had was accurate and then I would be able to look through their selection of glasses. I made two appointments with them and I missed them because of work unscheduled work committments, which I own. When I called to schedule another appointment, I was told that I had to pay an $89 no-show fee. An $89 no-show fee? For a refraction that costs $34? I told the receptionist that Ive never been seen by them the first time and I was tracking on their no-show policy because it was never explained to me when I made the appointments. The receptionist asked if I wanted to reschedule and I told her that I did, but I wasnt going to pay and $89 no-show fee when I wasnt told about it. The receptionist told me she had to speak with their billing department and placed me on hold. When she came back, she told me that they werent going to charge me the $89 no-show fee, but they were going to refuse me service and not set any new appointments for me. That is quite alright with me because judging by all the negative reviews about Dr Pittman, his practice and his staff they did me a huge favor.

I took my 7 year old for a routine annual exam. Throughout the entire appointment, the doctor barely acknowledged me. He spoke in a very condescending tone to my son which intimidated him. He also never bothered to ask if I had any questions or concerns. I was so turned off by the experience. Once finished, I asked for a print out of the prescription to take my business elsewhere. The girl at the front desk instantly caught at attitude and her demeanor changed once she realized I was not entertaining the thought of spending anymore of my money there. Since then I have switched to Low Country and it has been a breath of fresh air.

This is a horrible place please dont support this office. I also work in health care and have this office multiple attempts before writing a review. The entuen staff is very rude and unhelpful. This goes from the top down the Dr is very rude to patients and staff. I was at my appointment over two hours to get contacts then the Dr wouldnt give me the ones that I have worn for 30 years that I know work for my eyes, and then it was a struggle to get them to put on my prescription the kind that I need. Im very disappointed and will never return. Im never right reviews on anyting but please be weary

This practice asked a veteran to leave the office with his small thermos of coffee because they dont allow drinks in the office...wow...adults are not allowed to have a covered drink in their office with their concrete floors. I was also disrespected by Dr. Pittman in his office and was was told I would have my a@s walked out by an employee there. I have never been so shocked by a practitioner due to his language and demeanor was absolutely unprofessional. In talking with two other patients and two other former employees, I was informed by them that they feel the same and my opinion was consistent with theirs. I have their names for the record.

I trusted Joseph Pittman as my eye doctor for several years. During my appointments he always seemed very pleasant and agreeable. When I saw that there was a job opening at his office, I thought it would be a great learning experience to work alongside such a caring provider. Unfortunately, I could not have been more mistaken. After 3 days on the job, I realized that I could not allow myself to work in such hostile and unprofessional practice. For starters, I was not provided with an accurate description of my role nor the responsibilities associated with it during the hiring process. The office manager chose to hire me as a clinic tech knowing that I had zero experience in the field of optometry. After only training for 2 days in a hectic and understaffed work environment, I was expected to have a thorough understanding of the electronic medical record system, conduct visual exams and run the equipment with no supervision. This attitude was not only unfair to me as an employee, but to the patients as well. I would not want my vision checked by someone who had little to no practice checking vision and could understandably make a mistake. That same day I was scolded by Joseph Pittman for not writing down a patients glasses prescriptions, not taking into consideration that I am, once again, a BRAND NEW employee, and did not yet feel comfortable with obtaining the prescription on my own. It is unacceptable for me to work in an environment where new employees are berated for making mistakes during the learning process. Rather than behaving as a leader, Joseph Pittman lashes out at his employees for not exceeding his expectations and uses fear to obtain what he wants. This vile attitude is by no means conducive to a healthy and supportive work environment. It is truly ironic that his compliance policy states that it is “imperative that [we] conduct ourselves in a professional, kind manner to ensure that patients receive nothing but the best care. Your actions and words will leave a lasting impression […], so you are to be nothing but polite, courteous, and helpful at all times to both patients AND fellow staff members”. Joseph Pittman’s actions did indeed leave a lasting impression that I will not remember fondly. I presented the office manager with a list of my grievances and truly hope she and the doctor make significant changes in their management, for the sake of current and future employees, and most importantly, the patients. I will no longer trust my health in the hands of someone who believes in demeaning their staff and I encourage everyone to do the same.

As a former employee here, I hesitated on writing this review but felt that it was necessary. I worked here for 3 months and was initially hired as a sales associate. That same day an employee left the job and I was forced to learn my position at a faster pace. By week two our front desk quit as well (I wonder why?) so I was switched from a sales associate to a receptionist and was trained for a day and a half (I HAD ZERO EXPERIENCE). After about a month and a half, we finally hired a new employee and I was stripped from being at the front desk back to a sales associate. (Throughout this whole time I was doing front desk work, still doing sales, AND paper work for the doctor). After hiring a new employee, they made every excuse within a week to write me up FOUR times and threatened to cut my pay. I’m sorry but if you are understaffed and stretching out your employees as thin as possible, OBVIOUSLY they’re going to make mistakes. During my last week on the job I was publicly humiliated by Joseph Pittman IN FRONT OF PATIENTS on various occasions. My last day, he pulled me to his office and started screaming at the top of his lungs and threatened to fire me over something that was not my responsibility. At this point I felt that I had been disrespected and demeaned enough, I grabbed my belongings and left the practice. The point of this review is to make it aware that although he might be a decent doctor, he is an unprofessional business man. Day one after leaving his practice I was informed by another former employee that Joseph Pittman said, “She made stupid excuses. Her being fired was a long time coming.” I was not fired sir, I resigned.

I can understand why Dr. Pittman is understaffed and all the blame lies with him. Never would I think a Medical Professional to bully his own staff because of his own laziness. It is never acceptable to yell at an employee, and even less to do it in front of your patients. You will be doing a disservice to yourself by coming here. I would recommend any other optometrist in the area.

My husband went for an exam and glasses. Because of his job he needed glass lenses instead of plastic. The lab managed to scratch the lenses 3 separate times and could never get it right. We asked for a refund, over $500, and they refused. They told us they never give refunds. We made such a fuss that they ended up giving us a refund, a copy of his RX so we could go somewhere else and made us sign a form that we we never go back to them again. We went to Low Country and they got it right the first time.

My husband had a horrible experience here. First, they dilated his eyes when he asked them not to since he had to go back to work. Second, they over charged him after his eyes were already dilated and he was unable to see his receipt. They also did not give him a detailed receipt of his charges. After calling our insurance it was discovered that they over charged him by $64. Without calling our insurance and investigating they would have pocketed this money fraudulently. Third, they were rude when he asked for a specific contact brand in his prescription since this is the brand he has worn for years and is comfortable with. The attitudes of the staff were what made this and even more painful experience. We will certainly not be returning.

The facility was nice and clean. The nurses were courteous and great at their practice. The doctor made is wait, was rude, inconsiderate of his care, he didnt wait for my eyes to dialate and he didnt need to dialate my eyes to review me for my disability claim anyway. I would be cautious to ever pay this doctor let alone touch my eyes for Lasik surgery. The VA should not contract with this guy especially.

Worst place I’ve ever had my eyes checked at. My first appointment was ok. The doctor was rude and cocky after I told him my eye was blurry and he said he was 99% sure of this prescription. OK. The ladies that were working on billing were very rude. I made a second appointment to recheck my left eye because my left eye still blurry. Went in and told staff about how cocky he was in prior appointment and he had a staff member sit in the room with me while he explained why he gave me said prescription and then told me how I have a stigmatism in my left eye that he DIDNT tell me the last appointment!! After he was done explaining he told me to leave his office.. I will NEVER come back.

I have been seeing Dr. Pittman for over ten years. He is an excellent Dr. and a Christian man. He kept a close watch on my cataracts until surgery was needed. I know everyone is afraid for surgery of any kind, but there is no need for worry. Mine went very well and now I have 20/20 vision. I trust my vision to no one else. Thanks Dr. Pittman
