Last minute I needed to find a place that would see my kitten I just adopted and Ashby Clinic was very flexible and managed to find the time to fit my kitten into there busy schedule.I didn’t have to wait to long, everyone was very friendly, my concerns were addressed, and it was a smooth easy process. My rescue needed his first yearly checkup and vaccinations. We’ve recently moved so I needed a place that I felt comfortable with or my boy would pick up on my mood. I’ve had him a year (my July 4th present to myself).He’s just 3 now and still a little nervous with new places. All the staff were wonderful, not just friendly but sensitive to Rory’s needs. We were given all the time we needed. Plenty of opportunity to ask questions and much advise given in return. We really appreciated this quality visit and expect to use Ashby Animal Clinic for many years to come.

I had to put my pet of 14 years down last week which was the hardest thing I had ever done. I can’t say enough about the compassion that was shown by the staff. When I received the sympathy card signed by everyone I was as so touched. I can’t say enough for the care and concern that was shown to my dog and to me.

Dr. Smith is wonderful. So grateful he treats my girl with the big picture in mind. It is so reassuring to have a vet who clearly really cares about my pet vs just going through the motions. Please open back up to owners coming in with their pets. I’m new to the area and have been bringing my dog there for care but I have yet to meet any of the vets or see how my girl is cared for. This is so hard for a worried dog mama!

Family has always went to Ashby for our furbabies! It was always more expensive than other vets but we never minded! But..... on 2 occasions Ashby was unable to treat our dogs at the end of life process due to no appointments being available...We understand that the office is busy but saying goodbye to your family pet isnt easy!! We just wanted the comfort of our vet to get us thru this process!! Dr Simmons was the best.....it sure has went down hill since he has been gone.

I brought a very sick little kitten in and am extremely pleased with my visit. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and Dr. Lisa May was awesome. She throughly explained everything to me and I could tell she sincerely cares about her patients. I will be switching my other animals to here as well!

We unfortunately had to put down our cat a few weeks ago and Ashby Animal Clinic made it as comfortable as possible. They explained each and every procedure in easy to understand vocabulary. The staff truly cares for your animal and it shows! I would definitely recommend them for any vet services for your animal!

Dr.Jim Simmons, the founder of Ashby Animal Clinic, is an old friend, and one of the finest Veterinarians, and men, I have known. His age and resultant waning general health, like mine, have caused his retirement from The Practice. Fear not. Dr. Jim has left the clinic in good and safe hands! Most recently, I have met Dr. Smith, who was assigned to evaluate our overweight 7-year-old British Breed Golden Retriever--Meg. She is epileptic. Dr. Smith worked out the proper dosage of anti-convulsives, which has virtually ended her debilitating and continuous grand mal seizures. Nuff said. We used another friends clinic for years, and Meg hasnt yet forgiven me for their incompetence.

Great experience despite the bad news we received on our Lab. We thought our dog had an obstruction and needed surgery. Even though they were booked for the day, they were still able to squeeze us in for an appt. and possible surgery/ Dr. Smith was very professional, compassionate, thorough and gave us several options to care for our Lab. I cant say enough good things about Ashby Animal Clinic, from the front staff, the technicians, Dr. May .... all are so kind and helpful. I brought my Psyche there for a second opinion on some major health issues. Dr. May listened to me, taught me about what was going on, looked at how best to treat Psyche and we had a plan. For the first time, I understood what was really happening and went away feeling like I knew better how to care for my kitty, and that she would receive the kind of care she needs for a healthy happy life, no matter how long that would be. Dr. May is so kind and really cares; she made sure I understood what was happening and that I was okay with our plan of care. Thank goodness for Dr. May and Ashby Animal Clinic.

Ashby Animal Clinic is highly recommended. We will be transferring our records there permanently. Freida had a minor emergency when she got a piece of plastic stuck in the back of her jaw. She was developing horrendous breath that would knock you down. We called this morning and were seen this morning. In addition they were able to do Freidas annual exam and shots thereby saving us an additional trip. As a physician I know the time it takes to provide these extra services can wreck havoc with a schedule but we so appreciated their efforts and Freida is a happy Christmas elf.

Id like to commend the staff at Ashby Animal Clinic. They took the time, Saturday, to check Daisy out as soon as possible, everyone was very kind and considerate, and was quick to answer all of our questions, with detail.During a difficult time like that, it is very comforting knowing that our dog was in great, caring hands. I brought my new dog Abraham for his shots and checkup today, having never been to this clinic before, I was unsure what to expect. Everything about this place is wonderful. Dr. Kettlecamp was the kindest, most compassionate vet I have met. The vet tech was awesome, as were the receptionists. I loved their gentle and relaxed approach with my dog and how kind they were to me. I will definitely be back to this vet for all my dogs needs!!

Saw Don the small animal vet this morning for our Bulldog. By far the greatest Veterinary experience weve ever had. Very knowledgeable and patient. Knew all we needed to know and more. Reasonably priced and did not try to push any extra costs on us. Highly recommend this practice to all of our friends and family and anyone else who may need help with their animals

I have all good things to say about Ashby Animal Clinic. All the staff is very efficient and pleasant to deal with. My little dog has always been given very good care and in a very timely manner. They offer several very good services. I think we are very fortunate to have such a nice clinic in the Shenandoah Valley.

My cat has had chronic health problems since he was a kitten. Hes been a patient of Dr. Lisa Mays for the last 6 years, and I cant say enough good things about her. Shes worked tirelessly with us to try and figure out what my cats issue is and how best to treat it. She provides advice on what to do without being pushy. And she always calls me back the same day whenever I have a question (usually well after hours, indicating that she must work a lot more than she needs to!). Dr. May and the other staff at Ashby really care about your pets, and Im so happy to have found them for my cats.

My pets are always well taken care of and I never feel inadequate as a pet owner!

Our experience with Ashby Animal Clinic has been excellent through the years. They are very efficient and do a great job. Originally we had a cat that our neighbor did not want to keep any longer. Now we have a new kitten, Mowgli, which we were able to catch a week after it was abandoned late one night in the middle of Mossy Creek Road in Augusta County. We are off to a great start with the fine people at Ashby helping us.

My two dogs needed to be boarded for just one night with a Sunday pick up. This is a big deal for us as our older dog is blind and we like to get him home quickly. My dogs seemed genuine happy and comfortable when I picked them up. I think one of them actually wanted to stay. She must have made a new friend. The Sunday staff were very friendly! Thank you!!

Everyone at Ashby animal clinic played a part in saving my precious cats life. Dr. Bell and Dr. Kettlecamp were especially helpful and patient with us throughout the whole process. They thoroughly explained several different steps of his treatment and did not jump to the most extreme solution right away. Together we tried a lot of different things and I have hope that the final procedure was the ultimate solution; that procedure unfortunately requires a lot of monitoring now but I know they will always have his best interest in mind. I would absolutely recommend this vet, and especially Dr. Bell for any poor kitties like my own with persistent urinary tract issues. The staff all knows myself and my kitty by name now and I always feel welcomed when I am there, they are all very compassionate people. I will always use them as long as I am living in this area :)

We have seen several of the doctors in this office and they are all fantastic! Our dog loves going to the vet and all of the staff are very friendly and great with animals. They are also always very willing to work with our schedule. I wouldn’t want to take our dog anywhere else!

I just recently started taking my dog to this vet. She is 15, was having some problems and my regular vet couldnt get us in. I read reviews of Ashby, called and they were able to get us in. I love them!! The entire staff is caring, the vet takes her time with us and explains all options, is patient with our questions and understands that our dog is an important part of our family. They handle matters with sensitivity, care and concern. I wouldnt want to be anywhere else with my dog at this stage of her life and only wish I would have found them earlier!

We were able to get an appointment scheduled quickly. The service all the way from the receptionist to the doctor and nurse was stellar. They treated my wife and I and our cat with care and compassion. Also, they work to make connections with their visitors as I saw today between employees and other visitor. This vet is definitely worth a visit!

They were fantastic! I have a very nervous pup that doesnt do too well in confined, unfamiliar places. Dr. Bell suggested we go outside to do the rest of the checkup and it was incredible. Checked out everything we needed to while she laid in the sun. The least traumatic vet experience for my girl! I would say it was even enjoyable. :)

I was so very impressed with Dr.May. She made my very terrified dog feel at ease and took her time to get to know all about him. She went over all of the prices with me before any treatment was done and made sure I understood everything. My pup is not an easy one to work with, but Dr.May and the staff took every measure possible to be sure he got the treatment that he needed. The front desk staff were also very helpful and so friendly and inviting. I am so happy to have finally found a vet that treats my dog like family.

Everyone is so friendly and caring. They all seem to love animals and treat them like their own family. The doctors and techs are always very gentle and know how to handle unruly pets with care. I’m always amazed at how my cat allows them to handle him, despite how scared, unsure, and mad he is. These vets have that way about them that produces a confidence and assurance for the animal. I’m very greatful for such great care they take of my pets.

We were worried that we wouldnt find a good vet for our dog since hes pretty special but everyone here is great. The front desk is friendly, the vet assistants always make sure our dog is comfy, and the vets are fantastic. They understand our concerns, make sure were satisfied with their care planning, and always follow up when they say they will. Highly highly recommend.

I called ahead yesterday morning to alert them that I had an emergency situation with my Saint Bernard. Dr. Whitman, and the vet techs assisted me with unloading her, as gently as they could. My dog was very sick, and needed urgent care. They took her back immediately for x rays, blood work, and an IV drip to hydrate her. These people treated me like family. Dr. Whitman spoke to me with empathy and compassion, knowing the outcome wasnt good. Dr.Whitman allowed me to spend the morning in the back with my girl, and even came back to talk with me and check on us several times. Sadly, within a few hours of taking my baby home, she passed away. Dr. Whitman and her staff did everything they could for us. Dr. Whitman even called me at home to check on us, and just lend a sympathetic ear. I appreciate the kindness we were shown. Their efforts at Ashby Animal Clinic did not go unnoticed, as I will be forever grateful to them. I will take all of my pets there in the future. I cannot recommend them enough- please visit these wonderful people for a wonderful experience. They truly do care about you as the pet owner, and your fur babies.

Highly recommend!! Ive been bringing my dog here for over a year now, and every single employee I have encountered has been professional, kind and compassionate. The vets and technicians always take plenty of time during appointments and devote their full attention.My dog had a minor unexpected surgery last fall, and everyone was very helpful and transparent about the procedure from start to finish, as well as what the costs would be, which I appreciated! There were no hidden fees or surprises. I have been to other practices where it seems like they care more about upselling and recommending the most expensive (and perhaps unnecessary) treatments, and appointments are rushed. That is NOT the case at Ashby at all. I truly feel like everyone there really loves animals and will work with owners to determine the best course of action for each individual pet. My most recent visit was with Dr. Smith, and he handled my giant nervous dog with so much patience and kindness. Cant recommend Ashby Animal Clinic enough!!

You have a wonderful, caring staff. Other vets have performed add-ons without informing us, but Ashby was thorough in explaining what needed to be done and asked permission. Trustworthiness and courtesy are very much appreciated. Thank you for making me feel like a part of my family members care.

She gave us the full spectrum of what the next step could be, after the lab work comes back, and made sure we understood. it was nice that she called the next day to see how our cat was and made sure we knew to call if anything out of the ordinary occurred

As soon as we walked in they were scared because of his breed, hes a Rottweiler but would never hurt a fly. These little dogs started barking and growling at him so he started barking. He was sitting at my girlfriends feet calmly after he quit barking and they isolated us to a small room away from everyone because of his size and breed. When they gave him the shot they didnt rub it to numb it or give him a treat to calm him down. They shoved the needle in and he freaked out because they didnt try to do it like they would for any other dog. If you have an aggressive breed that isnt aggressive dont come here. I wont come back. If I could rate -5 I would. I want my money back for the attitudes towards my dog.

I have NOT used their services, but am super impressed by their courteousness over the phone, attention to detail in answering my questions, and super-quick response with a quote for services. Spoke to (2) females and my opinion is the same for both. Great first impression in professionalism. However, Received quote for dental services of $546 on the low end to as much as $1,008 on the high end. Thats the most expensive quote yet ...even more expensive that Valley Veterinary Hospital, the next most expensive place that I have had quote me for dental service. Would give 5 stars, but cant with that outrageous quote!

We are first-time dog owners and our 10-week old puppy wasn’t eating well, and not as active. We called Ashby on a Wednesday morning, and got an appointment with Dr. Sarah Hadacek that very morning. She was so gentle, caring, and patient with our puppy, and knew exactly what to do to find out his problem. He had eaten some rocks and it was making him feel sick. Thanks to her prompt and accurate diagnosis, and the meds to help him not vomit and feel like eating, he is feeling much better and is bouncing around again. We will definitely be using Ashby for our pet needs in the future, and I cannot recommend Sarah highly enough.

Our beagle, Macy, needed to have some growths removed;one from her eyelid which was causing her irritation. As always, Dr May laid out the options, and when we decided to go with the surgery, estimates were given. We knew upfront what we were dealing with and had procedure options discussed. Dr Bell called after the surgery to let us know that Macy was fine and when we could pick her up. Morgan went over the discharge procedures and asked if there were questions.We are very grateful to have a dedicated and knowledgeable team working with and for us, including Winnie, Tiffany, and Lisa at the reception desks.Thanks to all.

The doctors and staff are all accomplished professionals, courteous and kind. My vet bills have been reasonable compared to other practices. I am glad I found Ashby; this is where I will take my cats from now on.

Very accommodating. I called and they offered to serve me withing 20 minutes. I got prudent advice and will have to see how effective the treatment will be. We rely on their comforting advice about how to evaluate the condition of our beloved aging dog.

Dr. May is amazing. She took her time to answer all our questions and truly cares for our pets wellbeing. She presented us with several treatment options that would be good for our pet and discussed them at length so that we could make an educated decision on how to move forward. We choose to do xrays as part of our treatment and Dr. May asked if I wanted to see the images, took me to the back and explained what the images showed. She never made us feel rushed. It is the first time I’ve left the vets office feeling good about everything and confident that my pets health and well-being was a priority. I can’t say enough great things about our visit. I am so glad that I found Ashby Animal Clinic and look forward to bringing my pets there for years to come.

Very reasonably priced and always have been very good with my dogs. Have always called and checked in if my dogs were sick. We I had to put one of my babies to sleep, they went above and beyond to give me all the time with her I needed. They offered clay footprints, they snipped locks of hair and tied them with a bow for me to take home. They sent me a sympathy card. And they made a donation in my babys name to research of rare diseases in dogs.Would recommend to anyone!

I am very pleased with the professional care my Boston terrier, Bailey received at Ashby Animal Clinic. First, the front desk staff, Justin was very friendly and worked with me to get an appointment that fit my schedule. He quoted me correctly on prices and even called to confirm the appointment. Dr. Emma Inman and the technician was AMAZING! They treated Bailey extremely well and she is a very hyper active dog. They were very careful to make sure Bailey never went toward edge of the table and they carried her around in their arms. My previous vet’s office didn’t show the care, love and most important the respect that, Ashby Animal Clinic gave to Bailey and me. I recommend if you are looking for someone to treat your pet like family go to Ashby!

We brought in a stray cat with a bad eye infection and respiratory infection. They were very straight forward about our options and gave us over an hour in there exam room without rushing us a bit while me made our desision. They were very affordable. We will be taking our pets there from now on.

Ive been taking my animals for Ashby for years and have been consistently impressed with all of their staff. I recently had to bring my dog in and ended up being scheduled with Dr. Inman, whom I had not met before (I had previously seen Dr. Bell, who was wonderful). Although I was nervous about explaining my dogs complicated history to a new vet, Dr. Inman was amazing. She listened very carefully to what I was telling her, even asking for clarification about details that I thought were insignificant, but turned out to be crucial. I was thoroughly impressed with her skills, her manner, and her care.

I was a walk-in, my dog had an infected foot and I was traveling through Harrisonburg. Dr. Tara Bell was very thorough and professional, and a delight to work with. She treated me and my dog with consideration, care, and respect. Reviewed treatment options and costs, and was very hands-on.

My Siamese cat wasnt acting herself for almost two days. I just got her from my family because of my father passing and mother going into a nursing home she had to be kept in the family. I called every single vet in Harrisonburg not one could see her that day. Ashby clinic was so nice n considerate that they felt she was in need asap. They got me in quick but yet never been there before her original vet is in Woodstock. They got her back to her usual self by antibiotics n pain meds for her pain n fever. That night she was back in my arms like always. Needless to say they are my babys vet now.I highly recommend then they are so tender and loving to all the animals I seen in there. Thanks ashby animal clinic you guys are rated #1 in my book. Ive bragged how well you are with my sweet cat n to others. I hope this review will let people know how great you guys are the whole team is wonderful! God bless!!
