I can’t say enough to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the ongoing vigilance, dedication and compassion of the staff at Sunrise Vernier. It has been my experience that everyone has worked tirelessly and flexibly through these extremely trying times. I truly thank God that my dearly loved Auntie is being cared for by the amazing women and men at Sunrise Vernier. Before the pandemic restrictions I travelled from Canada to Michigan each week to visit my Auntie D. I had the opportunity to experience the staff interact with residents over extended periods of time. I have always been very comfortable and very assured that my Auntie receives the very best care and very loving care. I highly recommend Sunrise Vernier without reservation.

I have been associated with Sunrise on Vernier for over 12 years. They have been a very professional and caring organization since the first day I visited.Their care of residents with dementia is exceptional, and they do so many things to bring a quality of life to their community. Their physical plant is very welcoming and they work very hard to provide a homey atmosphere that is reminiscent of the residents former homes. The management and staff are also very active in the community in sponsoring educational programs to educate families and professionals.I would highly recommend them to anyone searching for a community for their loved one.

Sunrise on Vernier is a Specialized Memory Care Community. I have worked here for the past 3 years and I am honored and humbled to be a part of such a great team of people who care so much about their residents. This is not only a job it is my second family. I love Sunrise on Vernier!

I have worked closely with this facility providing hospice care with over the last year to many patients. The collaboration and team work from everyone involved in patients cases along with families is amazing. The patients, families and collaborating companies are treated with respect and dignity. The Medical Team Hospice is happy to continue this relationship with the Sunrise Vernier team.

I have worked closely with the staff at Sunrise Vernier to facilitate hospice care for Sunrise residents over the past several years. I found the Sunrise Vernier staff to deliver care with the compassion of an extended family. They have consistently placed the needs and safety of the Sunrise family above all. I has been my honour and pleasure to work with this team to facilitate hospice care to our shared residents.

The quality and service of care is exceptional. My mother has been there just over a year. I am grateful to have caring workers take care of my mother, especially in these trying COVID times. Thank you for your kindness, care and service.

My mom has been here a year. It has been a very pleasant experience. She is well taken care of. They have kept everyone safe during this Covid time. The caregivers do a great job with the residents. Prior to Covid, they had many activities to keep the residents engaged. Highly recommend Sunrise on Vernier.

I just started my new LEM position. I am very excited and impressed with the wonderful staff and management team at Sunrise of Vernier. The facility is simply beautiful with a warm and inviting environment. The ED and management team appear to be very involved and noticeably care very much about the Residents and community as a whole. The Residents appear very content, engaged with staff and each other enjoying recreational activities provided daily. Additionally, the Residents present as clean, dressed nicely, well kept and comfortable in a homelike environment. I am very much looking forward to my future here as a Sunrise team member!

What can I say, this place is pitiful. You would think after growing up in Grosse Pointe and going to school there it would be a wonderful experience for my family and I. My experience thus far has been horrible in the sense that the patients are answering the phones and able to access security checkpoints. This organization is a MONEY PIT. The prices are constantly going up and down because they know most seniors aren’t paying much attention to their checkbooks because of their power of attorney. They coerce the seniors and are very controlling(not in a loving way, but in a manipulative way)They are truly taking advantage of the senior citizens and making them upset to get extra money over opinions from their own family members. They try to upset the family so that they can continue to make money. They try to override the family members decisions so they can be in control. The seniors can’t make their own logical/rational decisions because they have been diagnosed by a psychologist their with Alzheimer’s and dementia, but the staff continues to take control and try to manipulate and prey on the residents. They try to overestimate the power of attorneys and family members decisions. The management and director undermines the family and power of attorneys decisions all the time. If you love your family member DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONES IN THIS FACILITY. It’s already hard to leave your loved ones in a facility but to know that they’re being mistreated and misguided to make decisions regarding their care is unheard of. I truly think you would be doing an injustice by trusting your families care to Sunrise on Vernier😰😰 The staff is always changing (they have a very high turnover rate) because of the head director and the main management not caring about the staff or the residents. I understand the Nurse Aides don’t make much money, because the company is getting it all, but that does not excuse them from giving the seniors less than A-1 quality care!!! From raising the rent from 5 ,000 to 8,000 or more our families shouldn’t have to worry about our loved ones being there. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Sunrise on Vernier and Sunrise Assisted Living in Grosse Pointe. Both facilities are poorly ran because the director and management is subpar. There I said it☹️☹️

My mother spent her last months as a resident of Sunrise on Vernier, in hospice care there, and was happier than than wed seen her since our father passed away and she descended into dementia and Alzheimers. It isnt an exaggeration to say that she came alive and thrived there. She was clean, groomed, well dressed, well cared for, and occupied by chatting with the others there, the meals (which she ate with gusto), and the few other activities in which she could engage. I dont think she was ever just parked in her room - she was out doing things, if only sitting in the dining area and talking to others there. My sisters and I could not be more grateful for the superb care extended by not only the Sunrise staff but also the MedTeam Hospice staff. From the moment I walked into their lobby, I felt that this place was more like a home than an institution. My mothers room was bright and pleasant with a nice view. We furnished it with her own linens and furniture, and it was very welcoming. There had been a number of problems with her home care before we made the very difficult decision to move her into Sunrise, but as it turned out, all of the transfer trauma was ours and not our mothers. The combined Sunrise and Hospice staffs, especially the MedTeam coordinator (Shawn) and Sunrise medical/nursing manager (Lauren) immediately took over and made me feel that I was in professional and caring hands - and I was, or more particularly, my mother was. They and the other staff immediately dealt with pressing issues of my mothers cleanliness, safety in bed, and perhaps most important, socialization. She received a better wheelchair, dental care, flu shot, etc. My only regret is that we didnt move her much earlier. She was treated with dignity and respect. Some of the hands-on staff were outstanding. They gave birthday parties and went out of their way to make the stay as personal and cheerful as possible. No place is perfect and of course Sunrise has its issues - from my observation, it is mainly overwork from the top on down, combined with the constant challenge of getting good people who will care for the elderly, sick and mentally infirm with skill and kindness and for low pay. My perception was that the managers were spread too thin, and it wasnt possible to have a regular team in each shift assigned to each resident. All that said, the bottom line is that I cant imagine my mother getting better care anywhere else, and my sisters and I will be eternally grateful to the Sunrise and MedTeam staff for all they did for our mother. I highly recommend that facility.

If you dont mind the residents ( WITH MENTAL ISSUES, HENCE THE REASON YOU ARE ABOUT TO SPEND THOUSAND OF DOLLARS A MONTH FOR THE BEST CARE and PROTECTION FOR YOUR SICKLY LOVED ONE) answering the phone in this MEMORY CARE UNIT, and if you do not mind the Employees being away from the security desk with residents having access to the SECURITY DOOR, and if you dont mind employees that lie, then this is a great place for you to invest 6-7 thousand dollars a month. DONT BELIEVE the sales pitch about SECURITY, or that your RELATIVE will betaken care of with there hygiene. FYI.....

A relative liveD here (wheelchair-bound, incontinent, some memory loss).Notice past tense. The first year was great, smooth. The room was kept clean, our relative showered, the food and events were enjoyed...However, then the management changed, then a caregiver turnover, and things went very quickly downhill. It became a crisis situation of our relative being unsafe. We had to hire sitters while we looked for another place. It also became very expensive. The room rate kept going up when they couldnt rise rates any other way. Also, Maintenance did not do repairs to our heater-A/C in a timely way (extremely important!)It was completely unsustainable to keep our elder there...
