Interim Hospice used to be the best hospice in town. I know. I used them for my father. However, I recently referred a friend’s parent to Interim Hospice thinking that they would get premier care, and I keep getting disappointing stories about the weekend call staff not returning calls, the case manager having very little hospice knowledge and the hospice physicians not discussing or explaining why they choose a particular plan of care with the family, who are themselves medical. Sadly, before they recently got sold out, it was owned by a family who started it and put their heart and soul into it and it showed. I know there are still wonderful people who work there, but they are apparently limited on what they can do. I just hate that I referred them there and that they have received subpar treatment. The overall seemingly lack of concern for the patient’s comfort is shocking and astounding to me. Unfortunately, I won’t be referring anyone else there.

If we could give higher than 5 stars we would. My wife has been receiving home health care through Interim for several months. Every aspect of her care has been excellent. Her nurse Jessica was the best! She was skilled, kind and always dependable and punctual. Physical therapy was also superb. The therapists were skilled, compassionate, and always on time. We had one hiccup with insurance , but Interim was quick to do all of the legwork to wade through the red tape and fix the problem. Two thumbs way up!!

My Dad suffered from severe diabetes and the all the symptoms that result from it. He became incapacitated and required home healthcare for much of his daily care. He was a client of Interim Home Health and I cannot say enough wonderful things about his “helper” Tracy. She was there for my Dad, to take him to his medical appointments and treatments. She truly cared for my Dad and he found joy in her visits and from the care he received with Interim Home Healthcare. My brother and I live in Texas, and we feel blessed that Daddy had someone providing the caliber of care and concern that Tracy showed to him. My Dad passed away last week, and I flew to South Carolina from Texas to make his final arrangements. Tracy was there to greet us and I knew immediately why my Daddy felt so cared for. I will forever be grateful for her and for her care for him in his last months. She is truly an angel with a true desire to care for people. Thank you Interim for everything!!

My mother has dementia and had been with Interim’s home hospice program for about 5 1/2 months. As it often goes with dementia, her decline has been slow and progressive. In mid August, her hospice nurse called to discuss her worsening agitation, ongoing orthostatic hypotension (blood pressure drops when she stands), and recent falls. She suggested increasing her behavioral medications during the day, and we discussed the pros and cons as this could definitely worsen the orthostasis and lead to more falls. Nevertheless, it denoted a decline in her overall cognitive and functional status and we continued to brace ourselves for her end of life, at home with hospice support, as were in line with her goals of care.HOWEVER, about 10 days later, I was notified that she was being discharged from Interim hospice because she wasn’t “declining” fast enough and was still “ambulatory.” I protested, asking for another review, and was denied. I was told (on paper) that I would have an opportunity to appeal with a written statement. This was not true. I appealed and my statement was only verbal, obtained by someone who clearly wasn’t clinical, and didn’t understand the clear implication that increasing her behavioral meds denoted a clinical decline, also leading to an increased risk of falls in the setting of orthostatic hypotension. The appeal was denied, and she was discharged from Interim Hospice on a Friday. An Interim hospice director (unclear what her actual title was) called me that night to say she was sorry and would investigate and, “this is my cell, call me anytime.”The following day, as I was preparing a second appeal, my mother fell down and my poor 88 year old father was unable to get her up. Because he had no Interim hospice services, he called 911, but taking her to the hospital was not in line with our previously discussed goals of care. I called Interim (both the main line and the cell of the director), and to this day, more than a week out, NO RESPONSE (except a call from them to say they wanted a shower chair back).Thank goodness for Agape Hospice. They came out on a Saturday, did an in person intake while maintaining COVID sensitive precautions, helped my Dad navigate getting my mom settled until I could fly out the next day, got her a hospital bed and a Foley catheter on a Sunday, and have since been nothing but supportive and helpful.Interim’s blatant disregard and disrespect for my mother, my father, and this horrible disease left us high and dry. As if the emotional stress of losing your mother to dementia isn’t hard enough, to be abandoned in this manner is shameful.

Interim Healthcare was there when we needed them. Karen, our RN, provided exceptional care and warmth to our loved one. I am so thankful for the compassionate care shown to us when we needed it most.

We used Interim HealthCare during my mother’s last illness. They were caring and compassionate, knowledgeable and thorough. They carefully guided us during each visit and kept us informed of my mother’s needs and how to meet them.As the end neared, they gave special love and support. We could not have been more pleased with their professional and caring service.

Interim Hospice is so much more than their job description. Like everything in life, there were some uh oh moments, but over all....these people are amazing. A most unpleasant time in my life was made survivable because of them. Before you make a choice, please talk with these folks. I hope you meet some that Ive met.

Interim is part of the problem, not the solution! My father successfully went through major surgery. Just released from physical rehab, interim is referred to come to our home. Big mistake! Nancy Lewis, PT, came into our home asking a bunch of intrusive questions in a derogatory manner to my father. She attempted to undressed him checking his body over. I stopped her and told her that this was unnecessary and that she was being disrespectful to my father. I told her if she were not going to get to the task of helping my father build his strength back up, she needed to leave our home ASAP and that we no longer needed her services. She then made a false report to Social Services that I was abusing my father in retaliation. Ive taken my father to rehab clinics, and he is never given a q&a or asked to undress. When I called to make a complaint and speak to the owner, I was put on hold to a never ending cycle of musak and repetitive ads. STAY AWAY!

My mother in law was a patient of Interim for both home health and hospice before she passed. Every clinician that came to our home was knowledgeable and thorough. If I was not able to be home for the visit they made sure to call me if there were changed that needed to be communicated.I cannot say enough about the hospice team and the care they provided. My mother in law enjoyed each visit, especially when Paul (chaplain) would come and read the Bible to her and Angela (her aide) would come. Angela would talk to her and make her laugh. Being able to watch these interactions and how her face would light up made my day.I highly recommend Interim to anyone!

Beth was the caregiver for our family member. She took advantage of our family. She moved herself, her children, and 2 dogs into the home. She used the clients credit cards as if they were her own. She bought clothes and all school supplies for her children with the clients debit cards. Beth took advantage of our family. She took things from the house when she left. Be careful who you trust to care for your loved ones. Some people prey on the elderly. Beth certainly did.

Having an elderly parent living with you can be trying at times (medically). Having a pleasant, understanding, and knowledgeable nurse can be very helpful. Thanks to Jennifer Laws for all she has done for us. We will miss you and wish you the very best.

Well we have only had an initial visit. The nurse was very sweet and seemed knowledgeable but had no paperwork and left us with nothing but a phone number. She said someone would be back on Friday. She came on a Monday. Well Friday has come and gone and no one came. We had some problem today with the feeding pump and I had to fiddle and push random buttons until I finally got it working. This is NOT the way a home health agency should operate!

Their employees take advantage of their clients I’ve seen first hand. Bethe King works for them, and lives with her client she gets paid 40hrs a week then stays there at night rent free and leave her children at home alone with the elderly lady that she is supposed to be there taking care of. It’s Ridiculous that this is allowed.

Very disappointed in the care. My paralyzed friend that lives with me is being discharged from Interim Healthcare in Greenville because they say he is no longer HOMEBOUND, because he occasionally goes fishing in the evening with his older brother. Who mind you has to help him get in the car from his WHEELCHAIR, drive him to where they are going, and then help him get out of the car and back into his wheelchair when they arrive. Repeat for going back home. The definition of HOMEBOUND by Medicare from 2 sources, and in Interim admission booklet (they have THEIR suggestions about where you can go like getting a haircut, church, grocery shopping):1. The patient is considered “homebound” under Medicare if the patient cannot leave home without “considerable and taxing effort”. Most patients have an injury or illness that makes it difficult to leave home; for example, if the patient: Requires the aid of supportive devices (wheelchair or walker).2. Medicare considers you homebound if: You need the help of another person or medical equipment such as crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair to leave your home, or your doctor believes that your health or illness could get worse if you leave your home. This discharge reasoning is directly from Nurse Manager Cathy, who states she spoke with her supervisors about the situation. My friend is paralyzed, in a wheelchair, has a stage 4 pressure wound and they are discharging him from their care, with a wound vac still in place, they said I could change it because I used to be a HH nurse for Interim, I havent done a wound vac since April and have not gotten a refresher, I dont feel comfortable. Plus, I would be held liable if something happens to him because I am not his HH nurse. I used to think a lot of Interim and told people how good this company is, now I will only be telling people about this. They advertise WOW stories on their website, well here is a WOW story for you. He was a patient for over 2 years without issues, until his current nurse and her manager decided he wasnt homebound. There are still good people who work there, but Interim managers are doing my friend wrong. His medicare said he IS homebound.

I have only heard fantastic words of this facility, plus they have wonderful , caring and easy explanatory answers from the Doctors! Also this I am very sure was the best place to seek the personal loving touch of nurses and Doctors, I may be bias yet I know for fact they won my Doctor of Laurens over ,so this is where she decided her calling was to Interim Health care and I can honestly say her heart is of Gold, Ms Karla is a angel through my eyes because she did everything possible to find the right specialist to help every condition Im struggling with, unfortunately I was having great great difficulty getting the transportation I needed from family and was let down each time but one. I did get to the oncologist she sent me to, yet never got the test he prescribed because I was always let down by excuse after excuse. She pleaded with me to get these test done because she couldnt help me until these issues were dealt with! Only a month from my last visit with her I was blessed by a angel of my past my friend of 47 yrs, I had searched for her those 4yrs because I knew she would not let me down.As we tried to catch up on our lives she had been battling cancer, yes, She also had needed help from family or friends, I cried because I failed her even knowing I had no car and no one in Laurens told me about her cancer. I only got...shes fine!!! To make this short I would give anything if I could see my Dr. Well previous Dr.K.Hirshorn to let her know , finally when I literally had given up...God sent my angel. As one door closes, another opened! God Bless these amazing Doctors whom never give up on their patients , This facility has gained the best!! Thank you, T.Marlowe
