My family and i recently moved to the Greenville area, and was looking for a great discipline for our 4 and 5 year old boys. This place is heaven sent. The staff are warm and welcoming. There is never a time where the atmosphere is rigid. Our kids love attending class and the instructors are patient yet challenging and diligent to provide strict, yet encouraging instruction to each kid. We have one very hyper kid who is learning to listen and follow instructions the staff never make us feel like our kids’ energy is too much to handle they harness and redirect his energy in teaching him how to be self controlled and focused. WE LOVE IT. Our neighbors’ kid now joins in on classes with us. And my husband loves his wing chun class! Highly recommended.

My daughter has thrived working with them and her self confidence has been amazing to witness. We were introduced to this school by a Groupon deal. After the first visit we were sold. Our two kiddos, 11 and 7, are studying a unique and practical martial art in jeet kun do. The kids sifu was trained by a direct student of Bruce Lee. That means my kids are only two generations removed from Bruce Lee. Beyond the moves, kicks, punches, etc they train in self control, discipline, strength and love. The instructors do a great job engaging the kids, retaining their attention, and teaching them great life principles. The price for enrollment is very reasonable - $70 less/month than another karate school we tried. I highly recommend them. I attached a couple pictures I took today where sifu Jason walked the kids to a couple of pieces of art. At each stop he shared some history, culture and context for jeet kun do.

Sifu Jason does it again...helped lead us again in practical, real world application to self defense scenarios; wrapping it all up with a quick tour of the history of martial arts. Good stuff, as always.

Excellent school. Jason and Aaron are great instructors. My daughter has taken classes there for 6 yrs and she still loves going every time. Ive taken the adult classes for 3 yrs myself and it is the most fun Ive ever had working out. The instructors and students there are great people. Theyre like my second family. This review is for Greenville Academy of Martial Arts and the instructors that teach there. We started our journey with GAMA almost 6 years ago. Their facility offers training in Jeet Kune Do (JKD), Wing Chun, Boxing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). Currently we have three children training there with the fourth eagerly waiting for her turn to join! Our children have shown significant growth in their physical abilities; but more than that their sense of morals and respect have infiltrated their everyday way of life. Over the last 6 years, our children have utilized group lessons and private instruction in JKD, Wing Chun, and Boxing. Sifu Jason, Sifu Aaron, and Sifu Jaz have all poured into each child, life lessons that will carry forward into their adult lives. This school is not just a place to build brute strength, this is a place that builds character. The instructors challenge and support their students on a personal level. Each new student is not only gaining the tutelage in self-defense but they are gaining a family that truly invests in them. After, watching the progression of growth through each of our own children as well as the many friends we have made along the way; we can boldly and without hesitation recommend Greenville Academy of Martial Arts. We recommend this Academy for both adult and children’s classes.As we write this review our country, state and local community are in a dire time of need, as we are facing quarantine measures and stay at home orders due to COVID-19. Greenville Academy of Martial Arts is closed for their in-person group classes, but has adapted and risen above and beyond to watch over and continue the training of their students. They are providing online facetime and zoom meetings for private lessons. They are offering group facebook live videos through a private group where members are able to ask questions and receive feedback. These live sessions have been critical in maintaining some form or normalcy in our children’s lives. Their instructors are people they love and are able to virtually train with them. Using YouTube they are providing in-depth teaching that can be viewed at any time. It is hard to imagine that this school could keep up with all of the changes to their training; but they are taking it even further by offering training modules through Teachable, an online teaching platform where you can gain access to a variety of class content. Some of these course sets are included in your monthly membership and others are available for separate purchase. To remain in contact and give personal attention, the instructors at GAMA are sending regular communications to encourage and uplift their students. They are providing training lessons and virtual updates. As times have become more difficult in this crisis, they have risen above to keep their students sharp and always in their ready position!If you or any of your family members are in need of a family inclusive atmosphere, where you are welcomed and loved please don’t wait any longer to become part of The Academy family. Greenville Academy of Martial Arts was exactly what my son and I were looking for. Sifu Jason is a wonderful teacher. He keeps the sessions moving with constant instructional dialogue. Not only are you learning how to respond to real world situations; Jason is also providing common sense approaches to life. I especially enjoyed my son hearing about Jasons experiences and what he learned. From the start, the classes provide instruction in self-defense. If you took one class and went home and practiced it every day, that one class would be useful in defending yourself. And the prices are reasonable too. Awesome, awesome!!

Love this school! I have been taking private Wing Chun lessons here for a while now. Sifu Aaron is a great teacher. The school does a really good job at preparing its students for the what ifs. What if something happens....... Very practical self defense, great workout and tons of fun.

In 2004, I tried committing suicide. A few months later I was learning JKD and boxing. As well as talking philosophy. Sifu Jason is one of the best people you will ever meet and is a true Master. This is the place to go in the Upstate. I was never more normal than when training. I gained strength here, well different location but still here, that has seen me through some pretty awful things. Dont go anywhere else.

One of the best Academy to learn Martial Arts. For parents that have kids wanting to learn Martial Arts this is the place to be. Children and adults will learn Wing Chun and/or Bruce Lees style of JDK. They will also come away with basic fundamentals like discipline, patients, respect, as well as many others.

My athlete and I came to Greenville to compete at USA-NKF Karate National Championship Tournament. It was our first time in Greenville and we were hoping to find a dojo to train in to prepare for Nationals. Sifu Jason, not knowing us from Adam, and having no business reason to indulge our request for free mat space, warmly opened his dojo and welcomed us to use his resources. Such gracious efforts are a true measure of the character of a man. His dojo is large and well appointed. We were able to see how he runs classes and the care he takes with every student. The dojo is clean, with ample space and plenty of training resources. This combined with a high caliber instructor makes this a top notch facility to train in the martial arts he teaches. I highly recommend that anyone is the Greenville area who is interested in the martial arts offered at this facility to come and train with Sifu Jason. In karate they say the student is a reflection of his/her Sensei. I believe this is true and advocate that all who want to be a better person and martial artist pick this dojo to train and grow.
