Go to your ER they say - its an emergency and you need care now. Thats not the way Prisma ER feels about it. My husband sat in this ER waiting room for 7 hours with me waiting outside the front doors along with a 90 year old man waiting to find something out about his wife of 65 years. She sat inside without care.No health care provider tells you anything. Youll get all your information from my chart. The people skills/patent care is void of training. No seats outside for family waiting. No drink machine. Absolutelynothing. No way to talk to anyone except other waiting family members. The patients are told if you go into the bathroom and dont hear your name called you go to the bottom of the list. Youll have tests done but these are basic. After 7 hours of being sick waiting in the waiting room never seeing a doctor my husband had enough. He walks out the front doors to me and says I feel better. Were going home. I need to lie down.Is this our new health care? I wonder many die because of lack of care. Try St Francis. You might be better off.

Like other reviewers I wish I could give Greenville Memorial a negative stars rating. Too many complaints to write about. Will never go to this hospital again. Will steer people away if I can. Non caring, negligent, dishonest. They put my family members at risk of poor health outcomes. Stay away from this hospital! Dangerous to your health. Lack of compassion & proper care is appalling!

The only people at the entrance were very rude. First we were told to be at the outpatient at 5:45 then when we got there, we had to wait in line 20 minutes until they opened the door. Second, most of the nurses were cold or slow or both. The doctor would not explain my mothers condition to me after the surgery. It was a very frustrating day.-

I wish I could give negative stars. They made a already horrific and scarey experience for my teen 10 times worse. They seriously need to rethink there system, there lack of communication especially with a minor is ridiculous. The information we were given was not correct we had to go higher up to address this and even that was a joke. I wish for a second they could put themselves in the parents shoes I was told by the patient representative that even she would be upset with this experience but of course nothing was done. As parents we do our very best to do what we think is right for our child, I wish I had never brought her here.

My daughter was in an automobile accident 72 hours ago. She is paralyzed from the chest down. The surgeon did a great job although I have heard nothing from him since the surgery. She is in ICU and the lack of compassionate care by the nurses this weekend has been horrible. They have no concern for infection control or patient comfort not to mention preventive measure to keep her from getting pressure ulcers. Just one incident I would like to mention. The nurse removed a disposable pad from underneath my daughter and just threw it on top of her. Now keep in mind she is on a vent, has a central line and many IV sites. I received a call this morning around 9 am that my daughter has a hemothorax causing her lung to not expand and preventing her from being weaned from the vent. It’s 5:30 and they are just now putting it in. She will be transferring to another hospital in Atlanta , Ga as soon as possible.

I actually went to the emergency room today because of cardiac issues I contracted COVID-19 about a month and a half ago and the side effects or some of the side effects include inflammation of the heart muscles I have not been diagnosed with that symptom or problem yet but that is the possibility of what was going on with me today because that chronic condition causes shortness of breath dizziness fever headache it’s similar to a panic attack or similar to a heart attack It also causes an irregular heartbeat so I actually went to the emergency room today because of shortness of breath dizziness and an in regular heartbeat and I actually waited in the waiting room for two hours and was never taken to the room or taken to be worked on they did take my vitals they did take bloodwork they did do an x-ray and they did do a EKG and then they still sent me back out to the emergency room to wait for an additional hour and 15 minutes before I actually got tired of waiting and got up and leftI actually felt better sitting there waiting to be seen than actually being treated on so praise God that I feel better and I hope my condition is not serious but I left and went home and now I’m letting you people know my story good luck with that.PS the emergency room staff were pleasant even though I sit in the emergency room waiting area and read all of the negative comments about that emergency room and all the other comments about the negative things that other hospital emergency rooms in the area practice at the same time but my visit or my interaction with the staff was great they just do not triage patients correctly an ambulance actually brought a patient in with a c-collar a neck brace and actually set her in the emergency room in a wheelchair in a waiting area to be seen I’ve never seen that happen before

I have very mixed feelings about this hospital the few that are great and really great and the rest of doctors/staff are horribly incompetent. Let’s start with positive: My daughter had a MRI done recently where she had to be put under anesthesia and the whole staff, top to bottom, were amazing in every way. Also, many years ago our son was taken great care of by the NICU team but I can’t speak to the recent staff.Negetives: Any other time any of my immediate family has had to go to the ER or Prenatal Triage we have had experience after experience of negligent medical care at best.I have lived in large cities such as Louisville, Kentucky and also small towns with local hospitals. I have never been so concerned or disappointed in any hospital or medical system as PRISMA!I wish I could give a better review because like I said the few doctors/staff that are good are great!

From the moment I entered the front doors, this hospital exemplified stellar customer service! Very professional, courteous and informative staff. Once I reached my destination (Ped MRI sedation) Nurse Aubrey made me feel so very comfortable and offered the reassurance that was needed to get the anxiety level down. Dr Pruitt ( anesthesiologist) did a phenomenal job with answering all questions and concerns and put me more at ease with discussing the plan to start IV AFTER my child was given some sedation gas. This protocol was more valuable to me because he is a very difficult stick and he would absolutely not even be aware they were trying to obtain IV access. WIN WIN for him. Due to the pandemic, I was prepared to sit alone while awaiting the completion of procedure but Aubrey was able to make this ordeal much more comforting! My boyfriend was able to accompany me to the waiting area to offer that additional comfort and support. This little extra care from the staff made the whole process so much easier to deal with emotionally. The last thing anyone’s needs during such medically fragile moments like this is be and feel alone. I appreciate the entire staff at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital for all the care, concern, comfort and reassurance that was offered and received during our recent visit!! YOU are very special people and every healthcare facility should take a few lessons in customer service!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

This review is coming very late but my experience needs to be shared. On 8/26/2006, my family was driving overnight to Hilton Head, but at 2:24 am a drunk driver was on the wrong side of the highway (I 26). I swerved to avoid a head on collision, but over corrected and we rolled approximately 9-12 times according to our witness and police calculations. The police/paramedics told my husband that they didn’t understand how we lived. Our car was destroyed. The cable in the grass median cut through the hood and engine, the roof ripped off the car above me (I was driving) and my 2 yr old daughter. I was talking but not aware of anything until I woke up in a CT scan at Greenville Memorial. I woke up scared b/c I knew I was in an accident & didn’t know how my family was. The nurses were wondering in calming me down. At that point my pain was immediately treated. My injuries included a shattered scapula (shoulder blade), 2 broken ribs, head injury/severe concussion, and pieces of my spine were broken in every area. Technically they are called spinal processes. I was hospitalized for 9 days because I already had a heart problem and to monitor my head injury. With the exception of 1 doctor, the nurses, doctors, nurse aids, every single person who entered my room was a saint. The morning after our accident was my son’s 2nd birthday and we were supposed to have made it to Hilton Head, but the nurses brought him toy trucks, toy airplanes, balloons, a cake, everything to celebrate his birthday because our family hadn’t made it into town yet and my husband wasn’t injured. The staff let my husband and kids stay in my room with me after such a trauma and I know that isn’t normal procedure, but they did it to help comfort my family rather than kick them out to find a hotel. At this point I can’t remember names, but there was one young doctor and a doctor that definitely “outranked” him. The older doctor who seemed to be in charge of the younger doctor gave me dilaudid for pain and I was able to be comfortable enough to get some rest. However, when the younger doctor came in he gave me morphine and it didn’t manage my pain at all. I remember crying and can still recall the pain I felt in my head. Finally my mom, who made it from OH, called the nurse and the young doctor came in and told me that “If you keep taking dilaudid you will be a druggie”. My mother was so angry and I just wanted the pain to go away that she demanded to see the doctor in charge. The older doctor came down and apologized for what the other one said and I never saw the young guy again. I understand that these drugs are addictive, but my head was hitting the concrete as the car rolled and my scalp had been torn off. I wasn’t going to be getting IV dilaudid forever. Two days before I was discharged, I was weaned off IV meds and on to oral medication. I was given very detailed discharge instructions because I would end up needing several surgeries and PT because I couldn’t lift my left arm due to the shattered shoulder blade. The paramedics, nurses, and doctors, saved my life. Thankfully I was the only one injured in the accident at such a traumatic level. I wish I had names to write to say thank you to, but I want especially the nurses and technicians to know that they are a very important part of a persons care. That CT technician handled my terror like a pro. The nurses went far above what they usually do to help my kids as they waited for their grandparents to get into town and to keep me at ease with such extensive injuries and being far from home. And thank God for that doctor who understood my pain requirements and didn’t turn to name calling me. So thanks you Greenville Memorial for being there on my worst days of my life and caring for me with professionalism far and above what was what I would call “normal” in any other situation.

Recently had to visit the ER (severe migraine that had been daily for 2 months). Waited 8hrs before being moved to an ER room. Apparently they put the reason we were there was headache because several others with lesser issues that arrived after us were seen first. We tried to explain that it wasnt just a headache. Apparently the triage nurses didnt care. Saw one older lady with severe abdominal pain they made wait 5hrs. One gentleman had been there 5hrs before us and got an ER room only just before we did. The reason we were given for the delay was that they were waiting for rooms to be cleaned. When we finally went back, there were many (about 10) rooms ready for patients and the ER waiting room was close to full. Most of those we saw in the waiting room during our 8hrs had no visible signs of distress. But the the empty rooms would have been enough to take care of those that were visibly in need. One gentleman that came in had just had a transplant and he finally just left. The triage nurses on the next shift were even worse. Attitudes and basically not caring. The nurse that was supposed to monitor open rooms and get the next person back just walked away from the desk and was talking about non-hospital related things with another nurse. The doctor was good although we basically left with no answers. We had hoped there would be an admittance to the hospital so that tests could be ran more expeditiously than going to doctor after doctor over weeks. But, they wouldnt admit. Overall this experience with the GHS ER was a total nightmare! If you have an emergency I would seriously consider calling your personal doctor to see if they would have you directly admitted. I guess the thing that made the wait worse was the fact we were told nothing. No estimated timeframe so that we could try to get comfortable. Also, the poor patients that were in wheelchairs and basically incapacitated were just ignored because they didnt/couldnt answer when their number was called. The nurses made no effort to walk around to those patients to see if they were the number that was called.

The care my son received was excellent, but their billing department is completely incompetent. My son was transferred here in an emergency situation I was assured by patient advocates etc that I wouldnt have anything to worry about and wouldnt be billed my son had out of state Medicaid. Now over a year later Im receiving calls from collectors for a bill Ive never even seen. They did submit to our insurance but werent accepting payment from them. Medicaid told me all the hospital has to do is resubmit the bill and accept the payment and it would be covered but the billing department refuses to resubmit the bill.

If your lifestyle is at all alternative do not come here they will assume you are drug seeking even if you are allergic to opiates. And refuse benzos. When I had a needle driven anxiety attack the nurse was incredibly condescending and assumed I was faking to get drugs. If you have mental health issues go somewhere else.

I showed up with a crippling injury. I waited literally hours for a bed and was forced to lay on the floor in the waiting room. They then, failed to treat me for said injury, failed to explain it to me as a nurse that looked like it was her first day came in to release me without any treatment, I still couldnt walk or sit, did nothing to help, and tried to charge me several thousand dollars for it all. RIP OFF! THIS PLACE IS GARBAGE. You might be better off just not going at all. Also, they give out your personal information to third parties. After going here, I received an onslaught of robo calls, sales calls, and even religious phone calls. All trying to get me to fall for some scam, or pay someone for services I had not received. This includes up to 3 robo calls per day from the hospital itself that my phone carrier labeled as scam likely because it is a scam. GHS IS A SCAM. thanks for nothing. I found a capable physician on the next business day, and he had me up in walking pain free in literally less than 20 minutes.... and all for around 50 dollars. Thanks for being a sham rip off GHS. Screw you, and screw your lame collection agency and your bully tactics. NOBODY LIKES YOUR GARBAGE FACILITY. People are NOT TO BE TREATED LIKE GARBAGE. But apparently thats not the policy here.

My son has been in here since the 26th of December. Its not been a good experience . Just like last time he was here, after about a week he ended up in ICU. His kidneys failed, thats why we came. The nurses are good. Techs too. But Dr.s dont seem to have any cohesion. Its like the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing. I just called up there to see if my son was in dialysis because I couldnt reach him and Connie on the 3rd floor nurses station acted like it wasnt her job to tell me. I set up the password, which she didnt ask me for, she simply grunted and sighed, said, Yes hes in dialysis and hung up!! People who dont like their job should get out!! Hes already been in ICU!! No empathy from her. Housekeeping sucks too. Dirty linens in his room, full for days. He has a pressure sore and was on a broken special bed for over 24 hours! Sunken air mattress. Excuse was; its Sunday. Next time he needs medical attention we are going to try a different hospital. Sure do miss Shriners!!

The woman working in the pharmacy should not be working there... At all!!!! We asked where should we throw away our insulin needles that were in a sealed coffee can. The woman said throw it in the garbage. Obviously we were confused because anybody can get to them including animals. She said not if there in a dumpster... News flash people go dumpster diving and animals can get to it especially if the lid falls off. I dont understand the level of stupidity and how disposing of insulin needles by throwing them in the garbage is ok. I dont care how secure that coffee lid is, it is still dangerous.

I have delivered twice here and the first experience was great. The second experience we were antagonized by social services and their unnecessary hand outs on child abuse. There is no need to ruin a special moment between a mother and her child within the couple of hours she has delivered- - ridiculous. However all my nurses were exceptional and treated me outstanding. All my questions were answered. My father was air lifted here after a bad accident and all the staff assisting him was exceptional. During such a scary and life threating time, I had people rushing to me every moment they could to give me and update and let me see my father. Thank you.

Great place for medical care, most staff are friendly. However the Drs do not work together very well, and will not help each other out which left me hanging in the wind after discharge for stroke therapy. My main Dr was on vacation and no one would review and sign therapy papers that were in place. The nurse was very sorry but also frustrated with the three Drs she asked. Also the Er did not process my check in so, I waited having a stroke for two hours, then My wife went and complained and they admitted they had lost me in the system.

Terrible treated me like a drug addict. Neurosurgeon told me to go there if headaches got worse. There for 7 hours and they said next one to get called back and then they would be 4 more people ahead of you. Had a brain tumor removed 6 months ago and the staff was rude and it was a terrible experience.
