Dr Habal is so patient with me and the staff was great, even got a surprise bag !!!!

Just beginning my breast cancer journey and as many know it can be overwhelming. I was “booked” with Carolina Breast and Oncologic from the Radiologist office where my breast biopsy was completed. It has been a process of every detail and concern addressed in a clear and concise way which I believe helps the process physically and mentally. They are very busy, however I have never felt rushed. I’m in great hands!

Very pleased with the professionalism and comfortable and excellent bedside personal medical care. Thanks to the entire staff you feel like family.

I would to thank all the reviewers who have taken the time to review our practice in a positive way on this and other platforms. Your comments are greatly appreciated.But it is quite distressing to me to read some of the negative reviews and I am saddened by some of the strong comments. Of course, I am truly sorry that my care did not meet all my patients’ expectations.In my practice I try to address all facets of managing the disease and involve the patient in the decision-making process. It is never my intention to “rush” to treatment but instead try to take time to explain to patients what to expect and what their options are. I strive to deliver care within established clinical guidelines and will often involve a multidisciplinary team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and plastic surgery when warranted. I then advise patients on a treatment plan which I believe will lead to the best possible outcome, both survival from cancer and cosmesis. And yes, I do encourage patients to obtain a second opinion whenever they feel the need to do so.But this does highlight the difficult decisions cancer patients and their doctors have to make in managing breast cancer. I am always glad to see patients remain cancer free for a long time; and long enough to be able to ultimately receive the cosmetic result they desire.NH

I had an overall positive experience at Carolina Breast. The staff was very friendly and they are always very upbeat and pleasant. Dr. Habal is the very best surgeon and treats each patient with respect before, during, and after surgery. I credit Dr. Habal and his team for my success in being cancer free to this date. I recommend this office to anyone who needs this type of medical expertise.

This is my second visit. The parking lot was full to the point I parked near the road sign behind several other cars. The wait time was ridiculous. My appointment was 1:15, although I was not called to the back until 2:35. I was told that I needed to let staff know that I had to pick my son up at 3. No one mentioned that there would be a timely visit or if the doctor was behind. I don’t appreciate waiting 1.5 hours to be rushed seen by the Doctor for 5 minutes. No one was apologetic about the time manor just assume that we want to sit there all day. Why book so many patients at the same time??? I hope I never have to go back

Dr. Habal and staff are friendly and professional. My questions are always thoroughly answered and Im treated as a whole person, not just another exam. I recommend him to any woman that needs help with breast issues. Dr. Habal is in it for the long haul and will be there for you.

As a surgeon, Dr. Habal did a good job. His team is professional and courteous. Yes, the extended wait times are true but in many cases it is people trying to wrap their head around a cancer diagnosis.That being said, I am a year and a half into this journey and can now look back at everything that has happened. I was diagnosed on 4 Feb 2020, they jumped through all the hoops quickly and Dr. habal had me scheduled for a single radical mastectomy on 4 March 2020. I was freaking out and wanted the cancer out. I had a scare back in 2007 on my right breast, then was diagnosed in 2020 with cancer in the left breast. Oncologist and I both agreed a double mastectomy would be warranted. Dr. Habal wouldnt discuss a double mastectomy or reconstruction with me. His job was to get the cancer out and thats what he was focused on. I went through chemo and radiation and am no longer a candidate for implants because of the radiated skin. I had the radical mastectomy in outpatient surgery and was sent home with 7 days of 1 type of pain meds and told no more. I couldnt stand being half flat.... I wanted either all flat or reconstruction.My options were a tram flap (reconstruct breast out of muscles from my back) or DIEP flap (using fat, skin, vein and artery from my abdomen). Only 1% of plastic surgeons are qualified to do the DIEP flap. I ended up at UNC Chapel Hill and ended up finally doing the prophylactic mastectomy of the right and DIEP flap reconstruction with Dr. Jennifer Carr. I would recommend getting other opinions. I am home with less pain and more support after a 14 hour surgery and a team of 6 surgeons and a plethora of residents.Dr. Habal did a good job. But looking back, I should have advocated for myself more or found a different doctor. Dr. Jennifer Carr and Dr. Downs-Caner at UNC Chapel Hill did an amazing job and I would recommend them for oncologic surgery.

I have been receiving service from Carolina Breast & Oncology since the 1990s. I have always received the bestand most courteous service. Every one there, receptionist, nurses, doctors, etc., are the best. They keep you informed of diagnosis, make appointments for you and cooperate with other doctors whenreferral is necessary.

As always, Dr. Habal and his staff were courteous, friendly, and efficient. I was in and out in under half an hour. I really enjoy going to this office for my visits.

I always feel in good hands when I come into this office. Everyone is so kind and pleasant. Although a sign in the exam room explained that extra time may be needed for other patients, it did not help reduce my stress after arriving early. I was taken back after a few minutes in waiting room. Once in the exam room I waited about 30 minutes before a nurse came in. Then, I waited about 10 more minutes before the doctor arrived. At least I came prepared with a newsletter to read and emails to be read on phone. I only wish that my stress could have been reduced had I been told how much longer I would have to wait.

My experience went very well. The nurse and Dr. Heball were very informative and professional. We did wait for a while but I understand the reasoning behind this type of practice and how wait times can be affected. I received information I needed and was very pleased with the visit thank you for being patient and understanding with our questions.

My wait was rather long which after seeing the physician I understood why. He is the only doctor/specialist. He also has an excellent bedside manner. The wait time is a little longer than you might enjoy but it is because Dr. Habal spends as much with each patient as he deems necessary to make sure that they are getting what they need. Though the wait was long, the staff was very friendly and the time spent with the physician was excellent. I felt I was be taken care of.

Everytime I have visited this office I have had a wait time of over 2 hrs in the waiting room and then sit in a roo. For another 30 minutes for the dr. Ro come in. He spends 5 minutes rushes with .e and I am out the door. I have been coming for a year now and its always the same thing. I have asked for my records and will not be coming back again. Very disappointed in their scheduling.
