I’ve been a patient of Sam Bander, DDS, for over 30 years and was a patient of his father, Tom since I was 12! The highest praise I can give is that Sam learned from the best (Dr. Tom) and has continued that tradition. Excellent dentistry is a combination of education, skill, science, and commitment to stay current in the field of dentistry. That’s not all.....A exceptionally skillful and dedicated dentist is also an artist who appreciates that his/her work is often “on display” and cares about the patient. Dr. Sam Bander leads his Dental Group team to provide this excellent level of care.

Looking into other reviews, I genuinely dont know how Bander is rated so high.I went to Bander just over a year ago. Prior to going, I gave the receptionist all my info including both of my dental insurances to confirm we were good to go. Got the all clear, and got my first appointment scheduled for my semi-annual teeth cleaning. I asked them to reach out to my previous dentist for my X-Rays.First appointment - Arrived, got all paperwork filled out. Went in the back and the dental hygenist did what I will refer to as the poke test, which they put a tool in between my teeth and my gums to see how much of a gap there was. Apparently the larger the gap, the larger chance of disease growing underneath your gums. I was told Id need extensive cleaning, even though my dentist in my previous town told me my teeth were perfect 6 months prior. Todl me Id need to come back, no cleaning actually done.Second appointment - Got setup with what I thought was the extensive cleaning person. They once again did the same poke test to confirm the results of my previous appointment. They took some X-Rays of my teeth, and thhen had me meet with someone from their billing department. They said Id have to come back for the extensive cleaning over the course of 2 additional visits, each visit taking like 2 hours. I knew something wasnt right and left.Receptionist calls me the next day - Tells me that my either of my insurances ARENT accepted by them, and my insurance is not going to pay for my most recent X-Rays they did, which come to find out they never reached out to my previous dentist. So all of this is going to be out fo pocket.I managed to get into a different dentist which my wifes family had been going to for years, and they cleaned my teeth and told me there were no noticable issues and nothing to worry about. When I told them about what happened, they said and I quote some dentist coming out of college with massive debts dont have enough money to start their own practice. So they work for ones that will offer the most money and experience, which sadly some upsell cleanings for the sake of money. Sounds like they were trying to sell you something you didnt need and tried to justify it because you didnt know any better.So to recap: 2 appointments which cleaning happend at NEITHER of them, issurance not accepted even though I was told it would be, never reached out to my previous dentist for X-Rays when I asked them to, tried to get me to opt for cleaning I didnt need.Update: Every 3 months I get an automated text from Bander saying its time to schedule a cleaning. Every time I text STOP, and get the confirmation Im off the list, but 3 months later I get the same text from a different number. Harassment at this point.

Bander Dental is a rare gem! Ive had a lot of bad dental experiences chalking up to me never wanting to go to the dentist. A friend recommended Bander to me, and from the moment I walked in every person was warm and welcoming. Their staff is knowledgeable, they ease any fears I have. As a person with pretty decent anxiety in most situations, it is truly amazing how well they ease that anxiety and make me comfortable during my visits. Just as important to me, never once have I felt judged or embarrassed during my treatment plans. It is a journey and this team makes you feel like they are on the ride with you! Thank you Bander!

Excellent dental office! I have always been incredibly pleased with the exchanges and services when I walk in the door. They are never are irritated with my questions. They have very modern cleaning equipment so that my teeth felt different than they did at other dentist offices. I was also very happy with the first crown I had done there. I gave them my highest recommendation :-) :-)

I had all my fillings replace last year with the mercury safe procedure and they did an outstanding job. I also had some deep cleaning that has helped my gum health. This type of cleaning was never offered at my previous dentist. My hygienist did an amazing job and it was pain free. Highly recommend this office for your care.

Couldnt have asked for a better dental visit! Everyone there was in the best mood which really made for an awesome experience since it was my first time at Bander. Bander dental is by far my favorite dental practice that Ive been to. I go there for both regular cleanings as well as Invisalign treatments. All of the hygienists are very friendly and treat you like an individual, and not just a patient. Ive been able to meet and see all three dentists, and each is caring, empathic, and thoughtful. The front desk staff also does a wonderful job scheduling and explaining costs/insurance. I would recommend Bander Dental to everyone!

I was a new patient experiencing some dental issues. I was given an appointment and promptly seen. A thorough examination, along with some x-rays, was performed, and the dentist treated the issues to alleviate my discomfort. At a later appointment I had my teeth cleaned, and it was a rather pleasant experience. The personnel are very friendly and caring. I felt welcome.

Dr. Bander has been my dentist for 12 years. He is warm, friendly and caring. Ive had several different treatments under his hands. He is efficient and explains everything about your care. You are informed and comfortable. I highly recommend him to anyone.

This office does dentistry well. I have always felt the care has been thorough and that they provide clear communication about the processes and costs upfront. They also seem to invest in current technology, which I like. In the past I once had a cleaning where there were multiple sales pitches thrown my way, some of them rather aggressively for different services (invisiline, teeth whitening, etc) however, that was a few years ago and hasn’t happened since. I don’t mind being offered services it was just it felt pushy that particular time. They also had a front staff member that rolled her eyes at me during a conversation but she has also been replaced and I find the current staff very friendly!

Wonderful staff and dental experience! I was looking for a holistic dentist and found Dr. Mattson.. great front desk too. Sara has been so helpful navigating everything and Abraham is such a friendly person to talk to on the phone.

I started seeing Dr. Bander over 30 years ago as a child. This is the only dental practice I will go to. I have moved a couple of times and now drive 30 minutes for my visits. My whole family attends this practice. They have been very individualized in our care, connecting to other health issues to bring a holistic approach to our dental care. They are proactive in addressing dental health issues, listening to our concerns. I have appreciated that they have not been pushy on expensive services.I have a kiddo with enamel deficiency, and they are on top of it, seeing improvement in his enamel health. They have handled my crowns well too.

Expect to pay 25-30% more for the same services and to feel like you are being talked to by a used car salesman at every visit. They push their expensive products, tried to get me to buy a $600 night guard to prevent grinding (even though my teeth dont touch), my visits are always $60 more compared to other offices for a cleaning and provider visit, and more. When I switched insurance plans, I was told that my plan covered two cleanings per year, at any time, and yet I received a full bill for the service. That was a very unwelcomed and unexpected financial hardship. While I enjoyed the gentle cleanings, I wont be going back and unless you have unlimited funds, I wouldnt recommend them.

I’ve been going to this dentist since 2016 and I’ve only had great experiences! The hygienists and dentists are all wonderful and my teeth feel great after each cleaning. If you don’t have dental insurance, they have an in-house monthly “insurance” plan, which is really nice. I really appreciate that they never try to push any services on me. Check them out if you are looking for a new dentist!

This office is fantastic. All of the staff is extremely friendly. We have been going here for years. My children love it there and have no fear of any dental procedures because everyone treats them so well and with such kindness. I personally love the warm blankets and other spa like amenities that they offer to make you feel at home!

I sincerely can’t recommend Bander Dental Group highly enough! In March 2020 - just as the Covid-19 lockdowns began – I suddenly developed severe pain in an upper molar. My regular dentist couldn’t see me, so I went to a dentist near my home. Although he made X-rays and did a thorough exam, he couldn’t find what was the matter. Desperate now, I went online to find another dentist, and after reading reviews, I decided to try Bander Dental Group. I was relieved when they were immediately willing to see me, and after they took X-rays and did an exam, they instantly diagnosed the problem: I had a vertically cracked molar, top to bottom. Once that was remedied, I decided to consult with them about a loosening 30 year old bridge that I knew needed replacing. Dr. Mattson recommended a one-on-four dental implant (since I have a cleft palate), and thus began his collaboration with the amazing Dr. Jesin at nearby Advanced Oral Surgery to give me the stunning smile of my dreams.Dr. Mattson (along with Dr. Obradovich) first did an excellent job of replacing the ugly 50 year old fillings in my lower molars and then beautifully capping them, leaving me with no more sensitivity issues. Then after the implants surgery took place, Dr. Mattson and additional Bander Dental Group staff members worked long and hard to see to it that I now have a gorgeous set of upper teeth that rival any movie stars’! All along the way they were wonderfully attentive to my concerns, requests, and needs. Add to that the office’s membership plan for those without dental insurance and...well, I won’t be going anywhere else for all my future dental needs. Kudos and many, many thanks to Bander Dental Group and Dr. Mattson!

We’ve been looking for a new dentist to call home, and finally feel like we’ve found the right place. The amount of time and care they take with your mouth is really incredible. Their safety measures throughout COVID have been very reassuring. I really enjoyed each staff member I encountered! Hoping they’ll eventually be able to do the waiting room massages again :)

Hands down the best Dental office I have ever been to. Right from setting up my first appointment a couple months ago, they were 100% about making sure they took care of me!! Carmen (practice manager) and her team is always willing to answer and help with ANY questions you have! Dr. Travis is who I use, and he is amazing! He is all about making it the best experience and will do whatever he can to make that happen. He will try make you as comfortable as he can. Dr Travis team (hygienist and assistant) are also very good at what they do , and want you to have a great visit! Dr. Bander has stopped in a couple times, just to see how things were going. It was good to see that he cares about all the patients his doctors are seeing! If anything is going bad , he will do whatever he can to help !To sum this up. If you have had bad experience with a dentist before, that has caused you to avoid them. You need to give the Bander Dentist office a chance! They DO care !!

The Best Dental Group I have visited in 40 years! Extremely caring and very detailed organization. Always on time starting my visit and finishing when scheduled. Dr. Bander always reviews procedure to ensure everything is completed. Technology of equipment is state of the art and cutting edge.

They are very efficient between the dental hygienist and dentist and make sure to inform the patient of what is going on and what they are seeing. I went into Bander a few months back for the first time and was immediately impressed. The front desk greeted you right away and the atmosphere was so welcoming. I have had poor dental experiences in the past at other places. I was referred to Bander Dental by an oral surgeon. Another practice felt a tooth was not able to be saved and needed extraction because it had cracked. Thankfully, this was a great surgeon-He said he thought if it could be saved, Bander Dental was the place to go. I saw Dr. Mattson, who worked a miracle and saved it. I have some complicated issues and he and staff deal with all with grace and kindness. Now, I am not a fan of going to the dentist :-) BUT I would never go anywhere else. Stellar people....and they have an in-house dental program for those if us w/o dental insurance.

I have been going to see Dr Sam Bander for at least 20 years. Even though we moved to Grand Haven 4 years ago, my husband and I still make the drive to Kentwood to see Dr Sam because he is the best. He and his staff are kind, caring, and considerate. One of my friends was extremely terrified of dentists, so I referred her to Dr. Sam; now she and her family are his patients as well. They just don’t get any better than Dr. Sam! Needless to say, I highly recommend him. You won’t be sorry.

I have had two needle-included procedures now at Bander dental and in both cases they listened and helped me through the situation without any judgement. I am very happy with their services, they are sure to set the correct expectations about services, and what is or is not covered by insurance before I agree to treatments.They have also filled a number of cavities for me, ones my old dentist didn’t bother with because they weren’t “bad” enough yet, Bander filled them to prevent a larger issue and has been always accommodating with my schedule.Also, I love the additional “spa” services provided with cleanings, the options provided make the dentist experience more enjoyable.They explain everything they do as they do it and the tools being used.And the initial appointment of doing an entire review of my entire mouth, things I’ve never had a dentist review or check with me. To ensure appropriate treatment plans!Highly suggest visiting them!

I love this Dentist office. Always clean, friendly staff. I never feel nervous. Always a calming atmosphere. They have some spa features I love. Cooling gel mask or a blanket if you are cold. First off this practice is with the times. Text alerts, Emails or Courtesy calls on how you want to be contacted for your appointment. Second they have the most friendly staff in there to help you along with your treatment. Third is they are very detailed and prompt with what needs to be done. Always making sure you are ok along the way!Universal problem with all dental groups - They ask you a question when their tools and fingers are in your mouth. It happens here too...LOLCould not ask for a better dental group!

They are absolutely the best! Everyone there is very friendly. They work hard to put you at ease, offering message chairs, neck wraps and all sorts of calming goodies. They are great at their jobs and I am always extremely happy with the results when i leave. I am getting married next year and the wedding is in between cleanings, Dr. Bander said to come in the week before the wedding and they would do an extra cleaning to make sure my teeth shine for the big day as a wedding gift!! Such a kind gesture!!!
