This is by far the best Gym experience I have had in the Valley. Family owned, local business that runs a great spot for anyone interested in almost any aspect of fitness. I will continue to go here as long as I live in Phoenix. They do classes, and have personal trainers you can select that run their own business through the gym. (better experience IMO vs a commercial setting as you pick a well qualified trainer depending on your goal vs getting set with one.)

We LOVE our gym!!!! Chad the owner, is an awesome down to earth guy. Absolutely hilarious and fun. The trainers are amazing. You feel like your a part of a big family. I have had memberships to some of the bigger gyms and this is by far the best atmosphere Ive been in yet for a gym! Not to mention all the well known body builders that come to our gym. Great place that helps keep you motivated!

I love this gym!!! Let me tell you why... EVERYONE (and I mean everyone) is so friendly there. The trainers especially (*cough* Maya Papaya and Tony). Even though they arent getting paid by you, they still help any time that they notice your form is off and correct you. The owner, Chad, always says good morning to everyone he sees. The cute little front desk gal, Sophia...I think, is sweet as can be, very smart, and can answer all your questions. They have some of the best equipment I have ever seen and all of them work like new. To top it off, they have a handy vending machine with protein shakes that you can grab on your way out, along with super cute merch. Its not as clean or as fancy as the other gyms, but honestly... Id still choose it over any other. Not to mention, the owner is a PATRIOT and he respects your right to choose 😉 #SupportLocal

I have worked for, and worked out at fitness1 for years.. this particular location owned by Chad is by far the best place I have ever lifted at. He takes pride in his gym and genuinely strives to make sure every member has a great workout every time they walk thru the door. It is very clean,great old school equipment, great music playing and all the trainers there are independent and top of their game.

I have worked out here since it was Docs Gym in 1995. There is no other place that treats you like family, no other place where you are known by first name, and no other place that is SERIOUS about lifting. They have all the powerlifting, strongman stuff. Tires too. This place has been loyal to me. And I am loyal back. REAL people there. Not fake people.

Just signed up! The owner was very helpful at explaining all aspects of the gym. Plenty of different equipment to use for almost any workout. Tanning also available for a very low fee. Great prices for memberships as well.

Well maintained, custom equipment, friendly staff, and clean environment! There are always two sides to every coin: a reward or a punishment. Covid-19 was nothing but challenging on many fronts, but, a reward of the pandemic is the closing of big box gyms I had previously sought out to maintain my physique at. On the verge of a mental breakdown sheltering in place alone, a friend recommended I check out Fitness1 Gym 35th and Union Hills. I met Chad and was given a tour of the facility. While it certainly isnt the largest facility, every square inch, is utilized to the benefit of US (the members). There are so many cool pieces of equipment that are older and you wont find in the new gym chains. While the equipment is older, youd never know it by mechanical wear - each cable, resistance, and plate loaded machine well cared for. Lubricated, pads refaced, etc. The best part of the facility is the family there - if you are a stranger, well you wont be for long. Youll be accepted as part of our family; where judgments arent passed, heavy lifting is encouraged, and results are complimented. If you read all this, what the hell are you waiting for? Go to Fitness1 Gym. See ya there.

Its a great gym. Weights and cardio equipment. A room for classes. The people are helpful and very courteous...always happy to see you. The only reason this isnt getting 5 stars is because the showers could use a little attention.

If I were to personify this gym, it wouldnt be unlike Dwayne Johnson. Results-oriented but welcoming. Beefy but friendly. Serious but fun. The equipment may be a bit more Rocky than the Rock, but trainers like Cara are equal part sophistication and motivation.

This is the place to go if you truly want a fun family atmosphere. Chad has put his heart and soul into this gym. There is no better place in Arizona if you want to workout!!

Wish I found this gym sooner!! After wasting time at a couple commercial gyms while in Glendale, i found Fitness 1 Gym. Old school feel, with new school toys. I was a happy camper. If and when youre in the area, this no hassle gym, with plenty of experience if you need help, is the place to go!

My boyfriend and I were visiting family in Glendale, AZ for the holidays came across Fitness 1 on google. The owner gave us a tour around the gym which made me feel comfortable knowing where everything was before I began my workout. It was very clean and organized. They have a lot of options from cardio, to weight lifting, and offer workout classes throughout the day. We would definitely get a membership if we lived nearby. We hope to see you again soon on our next trip!

The owner Chad is very helpful and attentive to the gym/members needs. They have a mono rack, specialty bars and chalk stands; Very powerlifting friendly! AC runs cool and if you pick your times right it’s not too busy. Overall a great place to train.

I do not recommend this gym, everything is lie if they tell you something interesting. They dont stick to their words and say something different when you go to gym and charge different amount at the end of the month. One of the trainer (really ?) is not friendly at all, he screwed everything up.I joined with the guy who used to be a manager there, he left the gym, and now these people started saying that it was between him and me, and they cant do anything if put wrong information. This is how the business is done. 😅

One of the best gyms I have been a member of. All the staff is welcoming and they have great hours. Mondays are usually busy, but I have never had to wait for a machine. Everyone comes to actually work out, and it is inspirational to observe techniques from other members.

Very good basic gym. The owner and employees are very nice! The only problem is that it’s fairly small compared to the amount of people that are there at certain times. You tend to wait awhile for equipment or areas to open up and it does have its fair share of people that like to steal single dumbbells and sit in the deadlift or squat area and stretch for a hour and not let anyone else use it till they are done but if you can catch it at the right time then it should be ok.

One of the best gyms Ive ever been a member of. Dumbbells up to 150 lbs and plenty of variety in machine, cable, and free weight stations. Great for power lifters and body builders. Home of some of the legendary IFBB professionals as well.

Greats staff this gym keeps me motivated everytime I work out. Life changing experience and always happy with driving to my favorite gym.

I love this gym, its all the same faces every night. People are welcoming and friendly, also no judgement it seems that different types of body types come work out here cause they dont feel uncomfortable, which is a fantastic quality to have in a gym. If you are looking for a new start and want to feel like coming to the gym is a new beginning for you, this is the place. My only complaint is the weekend hours, where is some leeway for the weekend work out hustlers? at least keep it open until 9-10pm. Other than that I love this gym!

Dont go here. They keep changing their hours and terms of service. TerribleUpdate: so after telling them three times that I was not renewing my membership they have sent me to collections. These people change their hours, refuse me a refund when they switch to hours I cant work and send me to collections after my contract was up (I had paid one full year in advance with no obligation to renew). These people are scum bags. I highly recommend you not get involved with people who use such business practices.

Small, love the old school weights. Has basic stuff you need and CrossFit weights and platforms which is nice. People there are serious about lifting for the most part.

Very military friendly gym. Offers free passes to those on leave in the area. Had plenty of equipment to get a good weight lifting and cardio workout in.

Great gym overall. Been a member for 6+ years..Front desk and owner are very friendly. Facility has plenty of equipment geared towards serious weight lifting.. Definitely not the PlanetFitness type of gym.I wont downgrade the gym for the people that come in, but thats typical now days that you get more of the millennials/gen-x holding phones more often than weights.Only thing that I dont like about this gym is the smell. It can get stuffy around 7pm. I would recommend opening back door or something along those line to vent the place.

I was member with this gym for almost 6 months. This gym has the worst management I ever seen in my life. I stopped attending this gym any they kept charging me money after I canceled my membership and every time I call them they will say SORRY this is last time but we cant refund the money to you. Anyway it took them 3 months with charge off 100$ to cancel my membership. I dont recommend this place for anyone.

Ive worked out at this place for the last 7 years and can say this is the best gym in PHX/AZ by far. A little small but it has good Cardio including a HEAVY BAG to pound on (Rare for gyms) and all the free weights and machine weights you could ever need. This place is lunk friendly which to me is a plus as it means SERIOUS people that like to workout and improve themselves can without penalty.I lament in the fact that I had to move to south phoenix where there is no gym like this only crappy LA and Planet Fitness. I hope one day Fitness 1 will have a gym in south valley (hint hint) just like this one cause as of right now my options are not looking too great.

Great gym (35th ave and union hills) whether youre geared towards body building or powerlifting this gym had exactly what you need. This gym had 2 competition benchs, a mono lift, deadlift platforms, and many other machines. They will allow you to store your own barbells if you need them to as well
