It has been a few years so maybe he has grown up. Mercy has a great reputation so I felt like he was okay to see for a consult. He was rude, abrupt, arrogant and was not listening to me at all. I had consults with a few doctors and I had never been treated that way. Also he haphazardly assessed my C-spine. I immediately began to have not just tingling in my fingers but severe pain. I did not recover from his manipulation for several weeks. I have done physical rehab with trauma patients. So, I am somewhat knowledgeable. Sorry, but Mercy lost my recommendations.

Dr. Park performed a complex spinal surgery on my wife in January 2021. She was facing the possibility of comprised ability to walk without the surgery. Another surgeon had told her that her spine was too damaged to be repaired. Dr. Park confidently undertook the surgery and it has been a complete success. She now will be able to return to a normal life and will walk with a straight back for the first time in years. She really has gotten her life back from the surgery. Dr. Park is a most caring and empathic person. He explained the surgery details and has been following up with her progress over the past few months. We highly recommend him for both his medical knowledge and surgical ability and for his caring and understanding treatment of patients. There are not enough good words to express our satisfaction in having had him as my wifes surgeon.

Went to Dr. Park for what turned out to be a lumbar decompression at L4 & 5, after five months of debilitating pain and 12 PT sessions. Dr. Park listened to my concerns and desire for surgery in lieu of injections. He determined that only surgery would correct my issues. In three weeks I had the surgery and four weeks later I was pain free.Dr. Park listened to my concerns, was sympathetic and confident that the outpatient 😷 would relieve my symptoms. Dr. Park and the staff of the Maryland Spine Center @ Mercy Hospital made me very comfortable under the circumstances.

I first saw Dr Park in 2016 after herniating my L3 and L5. At the time he told me my surgical options but never pushed. I was struggling to walk but it was manageable. He suggested I do therapy and see how it goes and come back if it didn’t improve. I recovered with the PT only and things were good. Until this past winter when the sciatic symptoms returned. I tried PT but it wasn’t working, only getting worse. The L5 was still herniated. I went back to see Dr Park because I felt like I could trust his opinion. Again, he shared the surgical options but did not push. The surgery seemed so simple but I was still hesitate. The next day I woke up with the worse pain of my life and I immediately knew it was time. I called Dr parks office and they had me scheduled for surgery in a week. I was in and out the same day and had immediate relief. Dr. Park is a great surgeon and made me feel comfortable and confident through the process. His PA’s and folks at the offices were great as well. Quick to respond to my calls/messages and very helpful. I would recommend Dr Park to anyone.

Had an appointment scheduled for Monday 3/29. Got a call Friday asking if there was a chance i could possibly resechedule with no explanation as to why, and i responded back that i couldn’t because i had already taken a half day off work for the original day of my appointment and it couldn’t be changed. They say “ok no problem, see you on Monday”. Monday morning i get a call saying they have to cancel my appointment bc the doctor has to leave early...... This was clearly not for an emergency reason, because thats obviously why i was asked to switch my appointment time on Friday. The next available appointment they could offer me IN HOPES that they wouldn’t cancel that one, would be April 12th, 2 weeks later. Then i was offered to talk to the doctor via telehealth, which makes no sense bc this was goin to be my first appointment where i would obviously need to be evaluated not just talked to about my back issues. Absolutely ridiculous and will not recommend Mercy Spine doctors to anyone

Over 6 months ago, I was diagnosed with a disc herniation. After jumping through hoops with treatments, and being denied medical help from a local surgeon because I was “too young” (I live on the eastern shore), I was referred to the Mercy spinal center. With in 3 weeks time, I was seen in the office with Dr. Park, scheduled for a discectomy with decompression, and completed my surgery. Dr. Justin Park is a god send, hands down. I’m in my early 30’s, a nurse, and have two small children. I went from being in pain, limited mobility, a depressing outlook on life, to almost fully regaining my life back! I’m on the road to recovery and all symptoms have almost subsided, if not already. My family and I will be forever grateful. I would highly recommend him and this facility to anyone.

Dr. Park performed a discectomy at my L5/S1 this past May. I had been suffering with pain and increasing immobility since mid-February before I finally consulted with him. I had tried several months of PT, rest and ibuprofen but nothing was helping. He saw my images and told me quite confidently we can fix this! I was so incredulous but happy to hear this because I had started to feel that everything pleasant in my life had ended. I was barely able to stand erect anymore, and sitting, standing, walking - everything hurt. Three months later and I have to almost be reminded that I had the surgery at all! I feel wonderful and am able to enjoy lifes activities once again. I have to give lots of thanks and credit to Dr. Parks excellent surgical skills and also the wonderful team who work at Mercy Hospital and the Maryland Spine Center. I started having issues with my neck and shoulder about a year before I had surgery. I did PT which helped for a while, but one day the pain and tingling in my left arm intensive so much I could hardly stand it. My doctor had me get and MRI which revealed a bulging disc in C5/C6 area. He recommend Dr. Justin Park for consultation and possible surgery. When I saw Dr. Park he was so thorough with what he saw as the problem. He told me that I was a candidate for disc replacement and that it would take the pain away. However, he never pressured me to have surgery. Told me it was not life threatening, just depended on how much pain I could deal with. I said I would think about it. After a while when the pain never seemed to go away, I decided to have surgery and notified Dr. Parks office. They set me up for surgery and sent instructions. Dr. Park personally called to see if I had any questions, which I appreciated. He was very caring and wanted me to know what to expect.Surgery went just as outlined. When I woke up I was pain free and have been every since. I worked from home and took it easy the first week. Then I was back to work and back to normal … well better than normal for the first time in a long time! Thanks Dr. Park.

I am so very please with the spinal fusion surgery performed by Doctor Justin Parks (September 2018). I had Sciatica and received only minor and sometimes no benefit from pain killers and injections . I just could not take the pain anymore. Doctor Parks was recommended to me and his confidence during our meetings that he could relief my Sciatica pain with spinal fusion surgery along with my family and I weighing the overall weight for reviews of his surgery made him my hope for surgical relief to Sciatica. And, I am so glad I did. I do not have pain from Sciatica and wean off of potent pain killers within 3 weeks. It has been 1 month since I left the hospital and I am walking about 5 blocks again without pain for exercise along with leaving the house for short shopping trips. I started intermittently walking without the medical equipment walker starting as soon as I came home climbing the stairs to my second floor bedroom and coming back down to the 1st floor for breakfast. After 3 weeks at home I was only using my walker occasional because of my working out with the Physical Therapist, Susan, who has been great. There is still no Bending, Twisting, or lifting of more than 10 pounds but that is ok with me. And my incision is healing nicely. I can only say so far - Very Pleased with My Spinal Fusion Results

I made an appointment with Dr. Park after consulting another neurosurgeon who urged me to try an epidermal injection for my sciatic pain, even though, as the first doctor said, the injection would mostly likely be 50-60% effective and only provide temporary relief. Since I was experiencing so much pain I could barely sit for more than ten minutes, I choose to consult Dr. Park rather than wait six weeks to see doctor number one for a second visit as that doctor recommended. From the moment I entered Dr. Park’s office, I was favorably impressed. The service was welcoming and efficient, from the receptionist to the x-ray technician. Dr. Park’s evaluation of my MRI assured me of his professionalism and competency. I was relieved when he recommended surgery, and I was impressed by his compassionate care, as I obviously was in pain and needed help. I had been suffering with sciatica for three months, and I had tried physical therapy, but the pain was not going away. I had herniated a disk six years ago, but I was able to recover without surgery. Previously, I had not experienced sciatic pain, but this time after herniating a disk at L5-S1, the pain was constant and debilitating. Dr. Park thoroughly and clearly answered our questions about the surgery, both before and subsequently afterwards during my post operation appointment. My surgery, which occurred 10 days after my original visit to Dr. Park, was very successful, and I am pain free as a result of it. I greatly appreciated Dr. Park’s handling of my case! He was wonderful. Thank you, Dr. Park, for helping me move on with my life!

To make a long story short, I decided that it was time to find a new doctor. I had always heard good things about Mercy Hospital, so I decided to go online and find an orthopedic doctor. I read success stories from different patients that Dr. Park had treated, who shared my same excruciating pain, so I made an appointment to see Dr. Park. All of the doctors I had seen at the VA Hospital told me that my condition was inoperable so they put me on Morphine for the last 10 years. Then I began to lose function in my left leg and couldnt walk and ended up in a wheelchair. Then my wife began the search for a doctor outside of the VA System to evaluate what was really happening. I saw one doctor who said he could fix me but never really said what he was going to do so my wife got on line and began searching. She found Dr. Justin Park on the Mercy website and read some of the reviews. We both got a really good feeling after reading many of the reviews so she called for an appointment fully expecting it to be months away. It must have been our lucky day as he had a cancellation that afternoon so we took the appointment to see him later that day and are so happy it worked out that way. That was not EVER going to happen. I had seen friends have back surgery and end up not walking or in worse pain than when they went in. SO , for me it was not even a thought. After trying every other thing under the sun and having no relief, I began thinking that I was just going to have to live with the pain. But the pain had gotten so unbearable , it was stealing my life day by day and year by year. I was not doing what I used to do or I was and then I would go home and actually cry from the pain that I was feeling. I finally decided that enough was enough. I was given the number to Mercy and that is where I met Dr Park. He explained what was happening to me and how he could take care of it. I listened and asked questions. I think what did it for me was, I did not want to suffer anymore but he made me feel so comfortable , I knew that it was time. I said lets do it. He gave me all kinds of scenarios that could happen but I had already determined that this man was going to take care of me. And he did. He in my opinion is a God-send. March 5, 2016 I fell off a 10’ ladder. The ambulance arrived and took me to Baltimore/Washington Medical Center, 301 Hospital Dr, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. We were then informed that I had fractured my back in the fall and needed surgery. On March 7, 2016 a Danny Liang did surgery on my back attaching two rods (one on each side of my spine) to vertebras above and below the broken vertebra. After the surgery I went to the office twice, a young man who implied that he assisted in the surgery told me to give it a year. It’s been two years and I still have a lot of problems with my back having pain when I turn over in bed, sit to long, stand to long, walk to long, etc. Sharp pain below my waist when I cough or sneeze and in the calves of both my legs. The pain in the calves of my legs is so bad (especially at night when I’m laying down) that I have to jump out of bed - sometimes up to fives time a night. I believe the pain below my waist could be due to nerve damage at the time of surgery.I blame myself for falling off the ladder, but I feel like if I had had a doctor who had put the rods in holding the bone together so it could mend I probably would be doing a lot better. Last year my primary care doctor sent me to get X-rays and an MRI. When she got the report back from Advanced Radiology she stated that it showed a fracture. At first I thought she meant that there was a fracture that was overlooked. My primary care doctor wanted me to see a back specialist, she wrote a referral for me to see a Justin Park - totally useless. He told me that he didn’t see anything, but that I could get a CAT Scan and then if he didn’t see anything (in his words “you will just have to live with pain”). His assistant had put my MRI on the monitor and when he came in the room he didn’t even look at it, that’s why he didn’t see anything. Advanced Radiology had a typed paper that told him were to look, they seen the fracture. If he had taken the time to read the paper and looked at the MRI he would have see that I still have a fracture. I feel Park just didnt want to get involved.

He explained everything in great detail and answered all my questions. I did have to have surgery again 10 weeks after my fusion to reposition a screw pressing a nerve, but that did not hinder my recovery. 17 weeks after my fusion surgery (9 weeks after the screw reposition) I was back to hula dancing, gym, and PT. I was also back to riding my sportbike. 6 months post-op, I went on vacation in Mexico and ziplined in the jungle, even going upside down on one of the ziplines. I still have residual nerve pain from the screw but it is getting better. I take a very low dose of nerve pain medication but it doesnt slow me down. So grateful I had the surgery and grateful Dr. Park was my surgeon. *Update: I am currently 9 months post-fusion surgery and 7 months screw reposition surgery. I have been off the nerve pain medication for about 2 months now. My nerve pain is almost completely gone. I have been able to sit at my desk and work without any pain. Im so glad I had this surgery done and grateful for Dr. Parks care.**

My point for wanting this appointment was to see if an new MRI could be done to see if there have been any significant changes (since Ive been having consistent stiffness, numbness and tingling). Last year my findings were:Reversed curvature in cervical spine reflects degenerative changes and/or muscle spasm.C2-C3- mild facet hypertrophyC3-C4- mild facet hypertrophy & anterolisthesisC4-C5- mild disc spacing, mild facet hypertrophy,  bulging disc, indents to spinal cordC5-C6- mild facet hypertrophy, mild anterior osteophyte formation, mild disc space narrowing, disc osteophyte complex with disc bulging and bilateral uncovertebral hypertrophy,  mild asymmetric to the right, Indents to spinal cord causing minimal right neural formainal stenosisC6-C7- mild facet hypertrophy,  central disc herniatedL5-S1- Small central disc herniated* multi disc dedication and anterior osteophyte formationIt just baffles me that he looks at a year old MRI and tells me in one image u can see 2 bulging disc, but in another it looks fine. So instead of him requesting new imaging and proceed after that, I basically wasted my time on getting 0 information that I was looking for. I didnt request this appointment to go over old results, but apparently thats what i paid for. Not to mention its odd that he didnt see more than half of the other issues that were noted above. What he did reccomend, was that I see another Dr that works hand/hand with him and maybe she can help (basically medicate). I feel like more than half doctors theses days are just looking to medicate patients instead of finding the source of the problem.

(I was shocked the last Dr. said nothing more can be done. We can gives you pain meds to make you as comfortable as we can. ) After hearing what Dr. Park said I said can you get me pain free and of all pain meds? without hesitation he replied yes. I had surgery March 23, 2017, its been three months no pain totally off all pain meds. AWESOME RESULTS FROM AWESOME DOCTOR.

After exhausting numerous options including periodic cortisone shots and physical therapy, whose relief proved to be temporary, I was ready to find a more permanent solution for my lower back pain. My search led me to Dr. Park who promptly diagnosed me with spondyloslisthesis, as well as spinal stenosis, and told me about a surgical option he thought would help. I agreed to the surgery and felt relief almost immediately. Once the general achiness of my surgical recovery abated, I no longer felt the pain I used to experience in my right leg which was often accompanied by numbness in my left leg. In the weeks that followed, I slowly began to heal and get back to my regular routine with some restrictions initially. Dr. Park was the utmost professional and made me feel at ease each time we met, as he prepared me for surgery and later tracked my recovery progress. He is genuine and caring, and I had total confidence in his capable hands. Overall it was a wonderful experience and my only regret is that I did not do this sooner! I highly recommend Dr. Park to anyone who might be in a similar situation.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT SEE DR. JUSTIN PARK. I have never posted a review for anything but I have to warn other people before they become a victim of Dr. Park. After having an MRI I went back to him for the results. He told me there was nothing wrong with my back/spine. I guess he didnt take the time to read the radiologists report which states L3-4: Mild left forminal narrowing due to lateral disc bulge. L4-5: slight broad disc bulge with no significant canal or foraminal narrowing. L5-S1: Mild broad disk bulge and minimal facet anthropathy. Slight narrowing of the lateral recesses and foramen. I have been in pain for over 2+ years and now I know why, because I requested a copy of the radiologists report. I will be contacting someone to see what can be done about this.

Im not one to write reviews but felt this time it was warranted. I was looking for a specialist to treat my father and was referred to Dr. Park from a friend. First, Im pretty picky about credentials when it comes to doctors and Dr Parks background is impressive. I immediately made an appt at his Glen Burnie office where I found his staff to be very friendly and accommodating as I was scheduling the appt for my dad. I was concerned about him going to the appointment without me since my dad does not speak English well, but when I spoke to my dad afterwards, he told me how incredibly friendly and patient Dr Park was. He also kept commenting on how impressive Dr Parks Korean language skills are and that he patiently talked my dad thru everything so he understood exactly what was happening and the best treatment plan for him. Im incredibly grateful to Dr Park for his help with my father.

If you want a failed back surgery by a doctor that actually complains about being sued during your visit, Justin Park is the one. He did a surgery on me that failed and when the herniated disk that he left in me fully ruptured and preventing me from even pushing waste out of my body, he said it was a kidney stone and distanced himself as far as he could from me. And now just 2 years since my surgery with him failed Im getting a 3 level lumbar fusion which I should of had two years ago. If you are being treated by Park right now, be afraid, be very afraid.
