My whole family goes here for medical care. Dr. Sarah Cribbs is our adult primary care doctor and also the pediatrician for our daughter. The staff here is very good and we have been going to them for about 5 years now. They are located next to the UAB Free Standing Emergency Room. There are several other specialties in the facility with them including the lab.

UAB Gardendale is the best in patient care. Very convenient parking, located right off of the interstate. Updated furniture, very modern. Everyone was professional and courteous. I will continue to use to this location for my health care.

The doctors and staff are great. Parking is free and easy to navigate. In my experience there is little to no wait for appointments. Check in online in advance of the appointment speeds the process and is also super easy.

Almost as if my hopes of not spending all day at UAB Gardendale came true. My 1st appointment was at 9:00 AM with Dr. Papapietro and with my 2nd appointment at 3:00 with Dr. Tyner. Dr. Papapietro wanted me to have a cardio ultra sound and EEG, an opening for that procedure would be a 3:30 this would have reduced my appointment with Dr. Tyner. who had been informed of this tentative appointment. Fortunately, another opening became available at 11:00. Dr. Tyner was informed of this and readily rescheduled my appointment.Its great to see these professionals being genuinely concerned.

Entire staff is absolutely wonderful, kind and attentive. Blessed to have found such a fantastic pediatric facility for my kids.

The physician was prompt in his arrival to our appointment. His treatment of me and my ailment was immediately diagnosed, x-rays confirmed his diagnosis and the treatment provided was exactly what was needed for an immediate resolution. By the next day, I was 100% better. I will be back to the remote UAB Ambulatory Clinic for future health issues.

Amazing staff and security! Very caring. I wish I knew the names of all the staff and security. I would have mentioned them all by name. So tall that were working in the ER on June 24th @ 1:30 pm. You all are ROCK STARS! I highly recmmend this facility.

I was seen so quickly and my visit went very smoothly. I received great care by my physician and nurse and could ask all the questions I needed to ask without feeling I had to rush.

It was raining trying to get my rolater out the car carrying my oxygen young lady saw me having problems she ask did I need a wheelchair, she got one help me inside took me to the waiting area with in 5 minutes I was getting C/T best service I ever had tks. IRA

The dermatology department is wonderful. Doctor Henslee and her medical assistant were both very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I had virtually no wait time. I was expecting to have to come back another day, but my concerns were addressed in the same visit and taken care of on the spot. The facilities were clean and orderly. The staff were also friendly and helpful. Great place!

Tyler Fuqua ,first of the doctor does not listen beyond a minute or so.The information between offices is not communicated effectively.Overall communication is not good.The doctor takes litte time to overlook your patient history.Staff has to be prompted to update records.

Dr. Fuqua is very understanding and helpful. His bedside manner is second to none. I truly appreciate him being my primary care provider.

When I arrived, I checked in and asked where the bathroom was and the receptionist told me. I went to the bathroom and when I came out of the bathroom, they were calling my name! I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t spend any time in the waiting room. The guy took me to where they do the CT’s and about 15-20 minutes later, I was done and walking out!! Very pleased.

There was a bit of a mishap with my appointment scheduling, but Dr. Fettig and his team, especially Brenda, were more than helpful correcting the situation and were able to work me back into the schedule. From imaging to bloodwork to my appointment with Dr. Fettig; everyone was amazing. The level of patient care is amazing, mask wearing and sanitizing were A+. I work in healthcare and was able to have an incredibly pleasant experience from the patient point of view.

ATTENSION ALL VISITERS--- THEY DO not allow no VISITERS, nobody then the patient. You will have to stay in your vehicle. So if you have any concerns or questions your out of luck getting the answered directly from the doctor. So good luck with finding out what is wrong with your loved one, friend, etc. They should inform you on the no visited policy before you come for the appointment.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, I was taken by ambulance to the new and beautiful UAB Emergency facility in Gardendale for an accidental insulin overdose. My doctor, John Gullet, was super-friendly and professional, as were his entire staff who took care of me. I was in good hands for approximately 4 hours, and am very grateful for their help and excellent care. Would I go back again in the event of an emergency? You bet I would! In fact, I highly recommend them. Thanks again to you all for taking such good care of me!

Dr. Fuqua is/was wonderful with our newborn daughter. We have seen him several times he’s always polite understanding knowledgeable and genuinely concerned about the health of our little girl. Not only that but he went out of the way to treat me when I had mastitis so that I didn’t have to make a separate trip to the women and infant center downtown or the urgent care I would highly recommend him, also the staff at UAB are phenomenal. I’ve never been cared for by a group of medical professionals so completely.

We arent a communist country yet but the gestopo were out in full force today at UAB in Gardendale. My wife and I were treated rudly from the moment we arrived. A receptionist is posted at the outer doors with a line of older folks made to stand in line outside in the sweltering heat. The reception lady pointed a gun like object at your head with no explanation, very rude. Other than one gentleman at the front desk the rest of the female staff were very cold and rude. I will never go back to any UAB facility for any reason.

The ER staff who treated me were thorough and made me feel at ease. Both the nurse and Dr I saw explained everything in a way that was easy for me to understand, and answered all of my questions without being hurried or irritated. Ive never had such good care before.

UAB cardiology is fantastic!

Wouldn’t recommend if you care about your health. I injured my shoulder and the doctor just walked in the room, lifted my arm up, he said I was fine and to give it a few months to be back to normal, and then he walked out and that was it. Since he was the doctor I believed him and now it’s been 7 months of barely being able to use that arm because it STILL hurts so much EVERYDAY since that day. So then I had to take it upon myself to Figure out how to get an MRI ordered since he did absolutely nothing. After all the run around and getting an MRI I find out my rotator cuff is torn so obviously I haven’t been okay and I should’ve NEVER listened to him! He should’ve ordered an mri or referred me to someone who could in the first place!! Not to mention my boyfriend BROKE his ankle 3 months after that and the doctor there just said it was sprained! Please don’t waste your time and risk your health at this place!!!!

Dr Weinsfield and Betsy was the best. My dad went in test was did quickly and was seen discharge in 2 hrs. Also, the charge nurse was awesome. I hope no further trip needed to Er, if so will be here.

The service was good but billing is horrible. I visited this place in August 2019 to get stitches for an injury. I paid $150 copay plus $70 physician fee for the initial visit. I had a follow up visit 10 days later to have the stitches removed where they billed me another $150 copay. If I was told I would be doubled billed for the copay I would have removed the stitches myself or went to my primary doctor and paid a $30 copay. This is terrible billing practice and I will never return. After reading some of the other reviews billing errors is common issues here.

Dr. Tyner is amazing! He is my primary doctor and my kids pediatrician. He is very attentive and listens to my concerns.

In and out in less than 30 minutes. If this had been UAB ER downtown we would be in the waiting room for hours.

Good experience aside from not giving me pain meds for large cysts on both ovaries until I was leaving. I’d go back just for the location and my nurses were kind and fairly prompt.

Great emergency room, they will take you by ambulance if you need it to the downtown location.

Callhan Eye Hospital has a clinic here at UAB Medicine. Dr. Bee is one of the doctors seeing patients at this location. Dr. Bee is an excellent opthalmologist and the staff here are friendly and professional. The facility is new and has the latest equipment. They also have an optical department.

I have been in pain management for almost ten years and was completely open/honest and was made to feel comfortable and carefree until after I left and was rejected by PM clinics for false information and unwanted/unasked for request from UAB Gardendale. My life was turned upside down and personally I was attacked for no reason other than what people believed I was from the words wrote on my chart from UAB Gardendale! Never again.

Go elsewhere for dermatology. Traci Duncan is rude and does not care about her patients. Could not recommend her for anyone and would not trust her medical decisions for anything big.

Since I live so close to his office, I decided to give Dr. Tyner a try. Went in for a simple check-up. Ended up getting billed over $700 for routine tests etc....things that I never had to pay for with my regular MD. Turned out most of it was coding errors in the billing department... but still ended up owing over $300. Then I get a call stating that my follow-up appointment had been canceled and that I needed to reschedule. After being put on hold multiple times, I gave up. Also, his bedside manner could use a little polishing. Won’t be going back.

Update: I found out that the message I got from our insurance was a mistake on the insurance part. However, even though they knew that all of their patients with that insurance had been misinformed, they failed to contact those patients on that piece of information (both UAB and our insurance). We still go to Dr Tyner, and hes not an awful Dr, but all the other complaints from my original post still applies.First of all, the nurses are great and Dr Tyner seems kind, but thats pretty much where the positives end. I brought all of my kids medical records to them only for them to destroy them without putting them into any kind of database. When a specialist called them to get those records, the uab staff informed them that they dont keep medical records. Thankfully, our old dr still had those. Dr Tyner had no idea my child has asthma or allergies and told me that he was going to try to get her off of her daily inhaler until I informed him that she was currently seeing a specialist for her asthma. He ignored rx recommendation from other doctors until I politely informed him of what was recomended. They never called to set up follow up appointments for vaccinations, and mere days after seeing them got a letter from our insurance that Dr Tyner had disenrolled from being a provider effective a week ago. No warning, no time to make other arrangements. We are in the middle of ongoing issues and referrals. Also, Im not a fan of how they handle all Uab appointments at a centralized UAB appointment center. No personal care no understanding.

Dr. Tyner is an attentive doctor who cares.

I would first want to warn anyone with children NOT to see Dr. Fuqua at UAB Primary Care in Gardendale. He is rude and ill-tempered. He is also a Travel Medicine doctor, which means when you need him most he will likely be out of cell phone contact for a week or more; treating diseases he could potentially bring back to expose to you and/or your child. (He doesnt even smile. You will not recognize him from the online photo.) And this man somehow became a pediatrician! Fuqua has been a doctor for about 3 years. He doesnt know what hes doing, and you shouldnt waste your time and money letting him learn on you or your family. Also, he will ignore your medical history and suggest that we start from scratch. (He ignored my 10 year medical history with UAB.) Fuqua will also alter your medications without your knowledge, so you get a HUGE surprise at the pharmacy. Suddenly, the medications you have been taking for years are altered AND they cost more! His nurse will try to explain this by saying he prescribes medicine in a cookie-cutter fashion. Fuqua doesnt listen to anything you have to say, so dont waste your breath. He treats you as if you are imposing on him, and he has something better to do. Fuqua will even exaggerate the price level of the visit so you end up paying hundreds of dollars more than you should. You will find this out a month after the visit--and after youve complained about him to UAB, which will do you no good. (They will pretend to investigate; then try to send you to a different doctor at an inconvenient location.) Fuqua was so awful, I have to mark his name off the prescription bottles--it makes me so angry to see it. Avoid this pseudo-doctor, this UAB witch doctor, at all cost! I really hate to give it/him one star--but that is the lowest rating possible here. If you care anything about you, your health or your family, then do NOT see this quack. PS If you somehow get stuck with him, then record everything because he is also a liar.

Dr Tyner was professional and personable. All seemed well until I got the bill. He double billed me got the appointment. Once for renewing my BP meds and once apparently for updating my chart. BCBS wisely paid for one office visit and wisely declined the second office visit ...on the same day. I dont blame them. It was a scam. So I was stuck with a $300 bill. Tyners office refused to fix it and I ended up having to pay it out of pocket. It all seemed pretty crooked.

Every one treats me like Im the only patient and Dr. Tyner listens to all my concerns and explains things in a way I understand and makes sure I get the care I need.

This medical group is fabulous!

Just a heads up the primary and pediatric care closes at 4:30 not 5. So do not attempt to call in anywhere near 4:30 because you might end up not getting the help you are needing. I just hope they can get the error cleared up on here.
