Awesome-just awesome. We needed some help training our recently adopted 5 month old rescue puppy whod suffered some abuse (in addition to neglect), and so was pretty skittish and scared. Not even halfway through the first session and our trainer was completely inside the dog’s head and understood what was going on with her. Just amazing. He also took time to work with and explain things for us - he clearly cares deeply and we’re so happy and grateful for it. We can’t recommend the K9 Class strongly enough.

Never having had a large dog, Morris taught me how to train my labrador puppy, Maverick, in a highly effective way. Any questions or concerns I had, he answered in the best way possible and tailored it specifically to Mavericks needs and behaviors. I could not be happier with how Maverick has learned and grown from this experience and I hope to be back to keep him learning.

The one photo that I still have from when Xena was getting her 2 week board and training. I cried when I seen this picture. The reason for this is that I had no clue what the true meaning of stay really was.The second set of pictures was a few months after her training and she did not attack a single chicken. But she has licked them and protected them from crows. The third set of pictures is when Xena and moose played. This was the very first time for Moose playing with another dog.For the last 2 years this has been a great journey for Xena and myself because she acts like a dog and her behavior is 1000 times better then most children that I have know or meet. From what I have been told Moose had been aggressive towards other dogs. ThisThis was possible from all of the staff at Icare K9. Thank you all.

ICare K9 has been and is absolutely amazing! We have a German Shepherd named Milo and we were going crazy because he was so difficult to control and we almost got rid of him. He didn’t respond to any commands, was bitting aggressively all the time and we couldn’t let him and our Yorkie be around each other because it wasn’t safe for her. Milo would run full force around the house, over and on the couch and would walk across our dining room table. He would bark non-stop at anything and everything and was also very food/bone aggressive. To sum it up he was a complete nightmare! We were looking for a training facility and when we came across ICare K9 we were so happy to hear they offer free evaluations. ICare K9 saved our sanity and our family! We signed Milo up for the 3 week board and train with Ron and when we picked him up he was a completely different dog! He knew all his commands and made major improvements with all the problems we talked to Ron about that are also listed above. Now our Yorkie (Bella) and Milo roam the house together which NEVER would of happened before. We now continue to go 2 to 3 times a week to the club classes with Morris to work on mastering his commands. Morris has done a great job helping us learn how to keep the training going at home. Milo is always very excited to go to Training because he absolutely loves Ron and Morris! We are so thankful for all the work and support ICare K9 has provided for Milo and our family! A big THANK YOU to Morris and Ron for everything you have done! Can’t wait to see how much more progress he will make while continuing his training at ICare K9!!

I have been taking my pup Teddy to iCare K9 for almost 5 years. We started out with basic training as a puppy and have also done a board and train. Teddy’s a regular at day care and when I have to leave him behind he’s enjoying boarding/day care with his friends at iCare. The staff or as I refer to them as family always makes me feel secure in the knowledge that my boy is well cared for. If it werent for Morris, my dog, Gilbert, would not be the fantastic, obedient, and confident dog he is today. Gilbert and I came to Morris a few months after I rescued him. He was very dog reactive. Morris did 2 private lessons with us and just in that time got Gilbert to a place where he was safe to come to group class. From there, it was only a few short months of weekly classes before Gilbert completely changed and was no longer dog reactive. Morris understands dogs to a degree Ive never seen before. He cares the his dogs and his clients dogs, and works hard to help correct behaviors that are detrimental to a dog. I cannot thank him enough for providing Gilbert and I the skills to become a great dog-owner pair. Gilbert is now AKC Canine Good Citizen certified and works as a therapy dog seeing patients in hospitals. We also have our off-leash certification for the city we live in. I am constantly complimented on Gilberts superb obedience. If you and your dog need help with training - iCare and Morris are 100% the way to go.

I took my dog Nikki here for basic obedience and intermediate obedience. Ron, the trainer I had for both classes, is a dog whisperer. Now my big bully/lab/etc. mixed breed rescue dog walks so well on a leash and follows all sorts of commands like sit, stay, down, etc. I also kennel my dog here when I go out of town and plan to soon enroll her in club classes, which are the next step up from intermediate obedience. They have limited resources. Their over the phone service was extremely terrible. I went to drop my dog off one day after speaking to them to ensure they were open on a Saturday; just to get there and walk into an empty warehouse.I called 2 times and both women answered and said yes we are open. So I checked the other center and the doors were locked. So one entrance was locked and the other entrance lead to an empty warehouse.Terrible service. They have NO extra resources besides dog walks. They claim pool and swimming classes but the “instructor” is never in.No wonder they are closing 👎🏽

People here really care about your dog and give a peace of mind that while you work or on vacation, your pup is safe and having fun! Morris and Ron are THE ABSOLUTE BEST trainers you will find and their facility and staff are friendly, flexible and treat you like family. My dog is a rescue from Afghanistan and used to be dog reactive on walks. He also displayed resource aggression and a general distrust of strangers. After taking Denver to iCare for his first 2-week board-and-train, I noticed tremendous progress in Denver’s behavior! He was a new dog. Ron showed me how to reinforce the training Denver learned while at home. Morris and Ron take an active role in identifying problem areas and how to correct and reinforce positive behavior. This is displayed regularly at club classes. My dog also completed a second 2-week board-and-train which focuses on off-leash training with E-Collar. Denver has made a complete 360 and is now a calm, manageable and happier pup!I couldn’t be happier with the caliber of training and service these guys provide. Highly recommend iCareK9 to anyone who is looking for training, boarding, or daycare! We had tried all kinds of different training methods/programs in the area with our puppy Ember, but nothing seemed to be working the way it should, causing us a lot of stress and concern that some of her behaviors (such as play biting, jumping, aggression towards bikes and runners) were never going to change. Ember is a one-year-old German Shepherd mix with a TON of energy that we didn’t know how to handle and we knew we needed a place that could deal with her level of crazy. After meeting with Morris, we knew that iCare K9 was right for us. Just by watching Ember interact with us, he knew what some of her issues were and gave some suggestions of what to try at home. We then booked her for a 2 week board-and-train program and when we picked her up, we had a significantly more obedient dog and many of the issues were reduced or non-existent. We now go to weekly classes to make sure we’re keeping up with her training and that we as her owners are doing and saying the right things.Ember loves going to training class, but LOVES going to doggy daycare at iCare. We’ll tell her she’s going to daycare and she goes berserk with excitement, she loves the staff and playing with the other dogs! iCare is now our go-to place for both daycare and boarding. Even better, every time we pick her up, she is exhausted, which is something that is hard to do!We are so grateful for Morris, Ron, and the staff at iCare K9 for all the help we’ve had with Ember and plan on continuing to take Ember there for years to come!

I was looking for doggy daycare for our 3 dogs about a year ago and came across iCare. My husband and I set up a time to tour the facility one evening at 5pm. When we arrived, a woman at the front desk said that she wasn’t sure why her co worker would schedule our tour for that time because no one was available. The owner then walked behind the desk and the woman told him the issue. He did not even acknowledge our presence or look in our direction, told her no one could do it, then walked away. Meanwhile, we could hear dogs constantly barking and whining in the back of the facility. There is no outdoor area at all for the animals, and only a busy road/parking lots surrounding the building. We decided that we did not care to see more and left without rescheduling. Everything really felt off. We will never bring our pets here.

I love Morris (my dog, Bogey, calls him Uncle Morris). We go to his club classes. Morris is FANTASTIC with all the dogs. He is strict in a nice way, with the dogs. He has done a great job with Bogey, who was almost 7 years old when we rescued him, had bad manners, would want to hump every living (and nonliving) thing. Bogey is (almost) an angel now. It appears the 5 star reviews are from some time ago, however let me start by saying I drive past this place every day and its a popular place. I thought it would be a great place for daycare for my small 3y/o pup while I hop on the metro and head to work- boy was I wrong! My initial conversation with the manager Cashmir, was positive and hopeful. I thought my dog would be well looked after and well taken care of- again, I was so wrong!I dropped my dog off at 8am or so and she seemed to sniff around fine. I was hopeful my conversation with the manager would be reflected in my pups long day at daycare so I hopped on the metro and headed to work.I called to check at 1:30 and was told maybe daycare wasnt for us. My dog didnt want to play and appeared to be shy. I was sad. Id left her somewhere all day where she didnt want to be. I asked if this is something that may change in time and the young lady insisted some dogs get better and some get worse, but my dog was pretty shy and didnt want to meet new dogs or people. At 4:30pm I called back. The woman (a new woman) insisted she was better, she interacted with one dog, but not so well with the group, but better. I was hopeful, once again.7pm I pick my dog up. The place smells like ammonia! The young lady brings me the wrong dog. When I tell her that isnt my dog, she leaves and goes all the way to the back for my dog. I hear her coercing her to come out. At this point Im bothered my dog is so afraid-hasnt she seen this woman before? Or at least been introduced to her since the start of her shift, I mean granted shes been out of the crate!? She brings out my dog and she is wet, dirty, and she stinks! I certainly did not drop her off this way. She tells me she had to wipe her off a little bit because maybe she peed in the crate. I assure her Ive never seen this before as my dog is certainly crate trained. I ask the young lady how was her day, she says she doesnt know she heard my dog was shy. I ask has she eaten, she also doesnt know. Did she get the snacks I left this morning, her exact words were If they were for the morning, I dont know! Absolute disgust. I left this place in tears never to return. This place is AWFUL. I cannot believe I left my dog here all day. I feel like the worst puppy parent ever!Beware!

Staff are really nice, but they should really inform owners if their pup hasn’t been eating and/or has been having diarrhea. It’s really crucial information to know. It shouldn’t be something you find out when you get home and your pup is sick, especially if you’re paying for and entrusting your pet into the care of other individuals.Second, please don’t say there are “live” streaming videos of sessions. Just because you record it “live” and post it at the end of the day or end of the week... those are not live videos. Especially if those said videos are hardly ever recorded. If it wasn’t for the nice staff, I would have given a 1 star. But seriously, please don’t neglect the health of any animal in your care. If it was a child, you would tell the parents if they were sick. It should be the same for any pets you guys are responsible for.

I honestly have no idea how this place has so many great reviews. Maybe their training is okay, but the daycare is disgusting. I brought my dog here for an evaluation and did not like it the moment I walked through the door. Unfortunately, I had an last minute emergency and had to bring my dog here for a second time. The appearance of the place is not professional and looks like a dirty warehouse. The second you walk in, you get a strong smell of pee. There is no outdoor area, besides the workers taking your dog out on a leash to walk them - which Im personally not comfortable with them taking my dog they dont know on a slip leash out on a busy road. Its not even like they have a nice place to walk the dog, besides in a parking lot. All the dogs are separated in small areas, and from my experience the two days I went in, it does not seem like any of the workers are actually watching or engaging with the dogs. The dogs can be doing whatever and who knows if the workers would even realize. Both times I walked in, workers were just sitting at their desk, on their phones or computer. The workers who have greeted me barely said more than 2 words and just grabbed your dog away. The second time I brought her, after already feeling very uneasy, I called and asked for a picture - just to receive a picture of someone elses dog. The manager was nice and admitted her workers mistake and gave me the day for free. Despite that free day, my dog will never ever go back to this place again. I usually dont write bad reviews, but after seeing and trusting so many good reviews - I needed to warn others. Maybe I just expect better care for my dog, but this place is dirty and unacceptable.

The training was a success, we learned how to issue commands that she would follow and it has made the world of difference in having a well behaved dog in control. I almost feel like we got trained too, which in reality we did ;-)I would definitely utilized their services again and highly recommend them if youre in need of some training that WILL WORK!!!

Beans has improved 200% since my sister adopted him & he came to iCare K9. If it wasnt for Morris & Annemarie I think he might have ended up back in the shelter. Im so thankful & grateful to you both for teaching - 1st Beans how to act and 2nd my sister how to ensure Beans acts properly. Theyve both come a long way with your training and guidance. Thank you! Great place for my dog whether it be for daycare, boarding or training. They taught my German Shepard how to swim (they have an indoor pool) and now I can’t keep him out of the water. When I board him, they make sure he stays on his specia diet and schedule. The staff is great with him and he can’t wait to go to daycare. I highly recommend ICare K9.

I just wanted to say “Thank You”!! for the wonderful job you did with Roxy. You took an out of control drama queen and helped me turn her into a well mannered dog for our family. How you managed to fix her out of control behavior in one session I will never know. Everyday she seems to be doing better, and better and we are very grateful. I will surely recommend your wonderful and professional service to all of my friends.

I literally dont know what I would do without Morris and Annemarie! I have a very difficult dog; not only do they take care of him like no one else can, but also they do so with kindness, patience, and understanding. It is astonishing how quickly Morris understands what is causing the bad behavior and how to work to correct it. I appreciate everything that iCare K9 has done for our family and would highly recommend them to anyone.

ICare K9 has been fundamental in establishing routine and discipline in our 10 month old American Bully named Titan. Let me first start say, both Morris and Annemarie are very attentive and professional. Annemarie always seems to answer my emails in a timely fashion and both have been phenomenal in working with us, coming up with a training schedule that would work for my husband and I whom work various hours. In addition, Morris did not just help correct some of Titans behavior with positive reinforcement techniques, but I credit him with arming us with the knowledge that we needed to keep Titan in line, providing both discipline and consistency within our home. Now, Titan follows commands with minimal correction and is even working on walking off the leash/or with considerable slack around the neighborhood. He is definitely much calmer and easier to manage. I highly recommend iCare K9 to anyone and everyone.

We just got Hope back about 4 days ago. Prior to sending her to I Care K9 she was uncontrollable. She knew basic commands, but she would get excited, push, pull, jump and there was little we could do to stop her. Since she has been home we have been very pleased with her behavior. Everyone who knows Hope has been extremely impressed with her behavior. Thank you I Care K9!

After only a couple of lessons with Morris from iCare K9 my dog was already showing much improvement on his behavior and was obeying my commands much faster. Thanks to iCare K9 I am more conscious on how to keep on training my dog the proper way!

We brought in our German Shepherd puppy to iCare K9 basic obedience training and found the training so excellent that we decided also to bring in our 8-year Chocolate Labrador. I attended together my three kids, and it gave all of us a shared frame of reference for training and handling the dogs. Plus it was great fun! Morris and Ron saved the life of our pound puppy. We adopted a 7-month old puppy from a shelter who had been found as a stray and was 10 lbs under weight. Although, he had been stray long enough to be 10lbs underweight with all his bones showing, he was very friendly to people and seemed very happy to have a forever home.Unfortunately, within 4 weeks there were some bad incidents. Our new puppy attacked our other dogs resulting in serious vet visits. The last straw came when he jumped over our fence to attack a neighbor’s dog who was walking past our house with his owner. He bit our neighbor when she tried to separate the dogs. I was afraid we would have to put the puppy down. The night of the last incident, ICareK9 gave us an emergency consultation. They recommended a 3 week board and train and 1 year of training. We saw an extraordinary positive difference in our puppy when he returned from the board and train. We are currently 3 months into our year of training and we haven’t had any incidents.Last week, my husband was walking our puppy and noticed the neighbor, whose dog our puppy had attacked, walking toward them on the other side of the street. My husband was able to maintain our puppy in a seated position while he exchange pleasantries with the neighbor. Our puppy remained calm and did not act viciously like before. The owner of the other dog remarked that she was very impressed with his progress.ICareK9 saved our puppy and made our neighbor feel more safe. We can’t recommend them highly enough.

After an exhaustive search of dog trainers in the Metro DC area, we finally came across Morris and Annemarie at iCareK9. They were very easy to work with and down-to-earth in their approach to training. They definitely stood out amongst the several dog trainers and dog training businesses we evaluated. After meeting with them, we decided to go with their 2-week Board and Train program for each of our then 9-month old German Shepherd pups. Each came home with much improved manners and a solid foundation for more advanced obedience work. This was back in late summer of 2012.Since the Board and Train, weve had iCareK9 stopping by our home during the work week and giving the dogs a midday break. Theyve reliably been there for us any time weve needed, and Annemaries attentiveness to the pets needs and health are an added bonus. She is quick to note anything abnormal during her visit and always excels at communicating with us.I cant recommend them enough. Dont fall for the flashy marketing some of the other dog training outfits out there are pushing. These guys are simply the best!

We recently adopted a two year old English Pointer named Zeus. Hes a very sweet dog but was definitely in need of some behavior training. He was very nervous around people, growling and barking when anyone would come to the house that he didnt know. He was also a nightmare to walk with all the pulling he would do, especially when fixated on squirrels or birds. He is very headstrong and stubborn and seemed completely oblivious to the choke collar I had always used (very successfully) with our lab. I headed to Yelp and searched dog trainers, and was immediately impressed with iCare K9 because of all the positive reviews and success stories about dogs that sounded so similar to Zeus. We were very anxious to help our nervous, aggressive, possessive puppy become the good dog we knew he could be. I called Morris and he immediately recommended the 10 day in home training course with Sue Coppola.Sue is a very experienced dog trainer who breeds and trains police dogs, so I was confident she would have no problem getting Zeus into shape. I knew she was the right person the minute she walked through my door to meet us. She knew exactly how to deal with my dog and they were friends within minutes. She started working with him shortly after that, teaching him basic commands like sit, stay, off, down and place. I love their method of teaching the dog first, then teaching the owner(s). Zeus was a different dog by the end of his two weeks with Sue, so much easier to walk around the neighborhood. He also knows how to behave when people come over and he is a lot calmer in general. She really understands the psychology of dogs and taught us so much about their behavior and why they act the way they do. He now knows that we are in charge and has responded to that very well. We realize that Zeus training has really just begun but we are committed to keep up the good work that Sue started. I cant imagine going back to the way things were just three short months ago when we first brought our dog home. Sue and iCare K9 have been life savers for us and we cant recommend them more highly.

Our five year old pug brothers were very aggressive towards each other, so much so that they had to live in separate rooms! Morris came to our house for 3 training sessions over the span of 2 months and boy-oh-boy are our boys different! Morris was very knowledgeable about dog behaviors and immediately understood and was familiar with our situation. He was able to identify problem behaviors and give us reasons why they were occurring and solutions we could put in place. I am confident that the training techniques work and that we wont need anymore sessions if we stick to it! We are so grateful that we found iCare K9 and would recommend them to anyone who needed dog trainers!

We adopted a rescue dog (Jake), who is the most gentle and kind dog inside our home and with our kids. But pretty quickly after joining our pack, he developed very aggressive reactions to people and dogs outside our home. When walking him around the neighborhood, he would bark and lunge at other people and/or their dogs. We tried a local trainer who came to our home a few times, and we didnt see much of a change. We were actually on the fence about being able to keep him, his reactions were so strong. But after 3 training visits with Morris (spaced 2 weeks apart), Jake has shown tremendous improvement. The difference is night and day. Anyone who is struggling with any K-9 related problem should immediately book some time with Morris at iCare Canine. You will be shocked at the magic Morris can work, I know we were.

ICare K9 has helped our dog Bailey to become the good dog that we knew was in her. We had Bailey stay with Morris and Annemarie for a 2 week board and train back in October 2014. Since then we have attended their advanced club classes every week (sometimes more than once a week!).Before training with iCare, Bailey had the following issues:- Went nuts when doorbell rang and barked like crazy and jumped all over visitors in our home- Was aggressive towards dogs, bikes, runners, and sometimes people on our walks (would bark, lunge, and basically become out of control - no amount of treats, even a steak dinner, would stop her!!)- Pulled the leash on walks- Had bad separation anxiety when we would leave the house - chewed moulding by our front door to the point that there was no moulding left on the bottom half.- Would whine, cry, and bark when my husband left the house in the morning. After training with iCare:- Bailey now stays on her bed when visitors come into our home and no longer goes nuts or jumps on visitors. Once she has calmed down and is ready to greet someone, she calmly approaches them to say hello.- Heels on her walks (I walk her with my son in his stroller and she walks right next to the stroller slowly and calmly - we get many compliments about her behavior on walks)- Is able to calmly walk right past people and usually runners on walks. No longer goes nuts when she sees other dogs and bikes on walks - usually sits and watches us until the dog has passed. Sometimes she barely even notices bikes!- Is now crate trained and no longer destroys items in the house when were gone. Her separation anxiety is under control and she no longer goes into a panic when one of us leaves the house.- She barely even notices when my husband leaves the house in the morning. All in all, we have a completely different dog now. The bottom line, however, is that once Bailey returned home from her board and train it took a lot of hard work on our part to keep up her training and to continue her on the path to better behavior.iCare K9 is AMAZING. You wont be disappointed!

Six months after losing our 16 year old shepherd mix we decided it was time to add a new member to our family. Our golden retriever is 10 years old so we decided we wanted to adopt an adult dog. We fell in love with Harley at first sight but unfortunately she came with some baggage. She had been in a kennel for over a year and she had been returned twice due to some of her behavioral issues. She had some issues with other dogs, cars and also with strangers, in other words, she simply didnt know how to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner. We have been lifelong dog owners but these were issues we were not used to dealing with. Due to her history of being returned, the rescue organization wanted us to foster to adopt Harley giving us as much time as we needed to decide if keeping Harley was the best thing for us and her. We put Harley into obedience training as soon as we brought her home. Because we didnt know much about her background, we decided to go with positive training. While we learned that Harley was exceedingly intelligent, learning commands in record time, the training did little to help with her bad behaviors. After having Harley for 3 months, however, we and the rest of our families had fallen in love with her and now just had to figure out how to address her behavioral issues. We knew she had the potential to be an amazing dog we just needed help bringing that out of her. We went in search of a new training facility and discovered iCare K9. Due to Harleys issues, the trainer suggested doing a few private lessons prior to putting Harley in an obedience class. We started working with Amanda and I cannot tell you how amazing the results were! Amanda worked around Harleys physical issues (she has a collapsed trachea which prohibits her from having any pressure put on her neck) and took the time to discover what types of training worked best for Harley (though honesty it didnt take long, she seemed to almost know exactly what would work and it did). The results were miraculous! After every one on one session, Harley came out a more well-behaved confident dog! She became much easier to handle on walks, she got along better with our other dog and she became much easier to introduce to new people. Amanda not only trained Harley but she trained us on how to react when Harley exhibited an inappropriate behavior. It is because of Amanda that we can proudly say that we have officially adopted Harley! We just recently began group obedience class and continue to see improvements in Harleys behavior. We know its going to be a long road but with the help of the trainers at iCare K9 we know that Harley is on her way to being that amazing dog we know she can be!

We have been using the iCare K9 training and boarding for a few months now. Morris and Amanda are superb and make a huge difference. Our oldish puppy beagle probably wasnt the best case study for how good at training the staff are, but Ive seen firsthand other problem dogs become very well behaved in a matter of weeks under their guidance. As for boarding and daycare. The staff are amazing and it is abundantly clear they take great care of the dogs. Mine wants to be with the staff when we visit for training. The trainers make a fuss with her and she responds very positively every time with full body wags. The dogs are exhausted when they leave as well :) Morris, Thanks for putting together a great team!

I came to iCare K9 with my young GSD, Brutus, almost two years ago. I had trained my own dogs previously but needed help this time since he was my first GSD and I didn’t know how to address his leash reactivity and overall bullying behavior. We started with the Intermediate class, moved onto Club Class, and moved on further to Advanced Class. I thought I knew how to train my dog, but I have learned so much about obedience and dog behavior from Morris during our time here that we have taken our training well beyond the basic commands. I used to be “that owner” holding the leash of a barking, lunging, 95-pound German Shepherd when we would go for our daily walks and saw another dog coming down the street. I used to only take him out during times when I knew there would be very few dogs around as well. Today, we complete the entire group class off-leash with several other dogs of various levels of obedience without any issues. I have much more confidence that I can control Brutus in any situation we encounter. My heart used to sink when I saw another dog coming towards us on our walks; now, Brutus follows my commands rather than reacting to that other dog. I can pretty much take him anywhere with me. My recommendation, if you want a reliably better-behaved dog, is trust Morris and come to class.
