TERRIBLE doctor. I was referred to her and had extremely high hopes given her fellowship in immunology and rheumatology and her experience with allergic reactions. I drove two hours to see her. She was completely cocky, close-minded and condescending. She walked into the room with her opinion formed before she even heard my story or my experience. She dismissed me completely. After having several orthopedic surgeries I began having chronic pain and severe allergy symptoms. My doctors suggested potentially a metal allergy to my hardware. Three renowned orthopedic surgery practices recommended a blood test for lymphocyte transformation by Orthopedic Analysis. This was their gold standard. She said she didn’t like the test because it would get false positives one day and false negatives the other. The test does not give negatives or positives. They expose the blood to the metals over a five day period and then measure the reactivity on a scale. She said the test wasn’t “validated“ yet, there have been many clinical studies documenting it’s effectivity. Many clinical studies that are peer reviewed and published. I had taken her in the physician data, which listed over for the clinical studies, she told me she had read all of those studies in school. Some of those studies were new. And really she read them? She was offended that orthopedic surgeons would dare to tell her, an allergist, what kind of test would be useful. I asked her if she didn’t like this test, what test she did like and she would not answer me. I asked her if there was any other course of treatment she would recommend and she pretty much told me I would just have to live with my symptoms. I asked her if she didn’t like this test, what test she did like and she would not answer me. I asked her if there was any other course of treatment she would recommend and she pretty much told me I would just have to live with my symptoms. She did finally sign off on letting me have the test and like my doctors is suspected it came back positive for allergies to nickel, molybdenum and iron. I had my metal hardware removed and miraculously most of my pain went away. This doctor told me she was a “specialist” in metal allergy. Obviously, not so much. She was supposed to order records from another doctor and then send me an order for some more blood tests, even that didn’t happen. Terrible follow up from the clinic. Anytime you have so much schooling you can’t listen to or validate the patient experience, it’s too much. You need a reality check. Doctors are supposed to help people. People on a difficult journey already have things hard enough. Will not be going back to this doctor and thankfully I didn’t listen to her. Hope my experience saves somebody else a similar one.

First, I waited an hour for her to even start our appointment. She told me that I may have the early phase of an autoimmune condition but we’re just going to call this “random symptoms.” She took no lab and offered no real advice and told me to come back if I start to feel unwell. Not going to be doing that because I saw her already for not feeling well.
