We had a wonderful experience at The California Eye Institute! We were on the first floor to pick out some glasses and were greeted by Kristen and worked with Victoria to choose our glasses. Victoria was extremely courteous, friendly, helpful, and helped us pick the perfect pair of glasses. Kristen had a great spirit and was always willing to partner with people around her. Overall, they are both a great asset to the California Eye Institute!!

II just want to say this is the most professional place I’ve been to in general, The ladies on the 3rd floor were Soo kind and the whole experience was just amazing! Shout out to Pauline on the first floor for helping me choose my Glasses !!!!

I love this place! There are several doctors working in this building so you can get your eye exam done and walk over to the store where they have a large selection of beautiful glasses. They take many insurances and the whole processs is super easy. I found iut that they do Lasik surgeries upstairs as well. I didnt encounter anyone rude nor had a super long wait and I came in on a rainy dayat end of January 2021. My doctor and assistant were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place!

I was on hold for an hour an a half before I hung up - I wanted to make an appointment. When I called back I was told they were accepting phone calls until 1 pm - it was 11:45. I have been going here for several years. I will no longer recommend them. Run away and go anywhere else.

I had an appointment at 2:45 got there at 2:15 to fill out paper work. It took them about an hour to get me in and to dilate my pupils, they then asked me to return to the waiting room for 15 minutes and an hour later I was still sitting there not. My appointment was at 2:45 and at 4:56 I was still sitting there waiting to be seen. I don’t know why they set up sooooo many appointments just to have the patients wait for hours on end. I will never go back to that office.

This place is a joke! Arrived 25 minutes early for my appointment only to be told the doctor was running 45 mins behind my original time. The extremely RUDE and nasty receptionist also demanded my wife and I separate by six feet per social distancing guidelines which makes zero sense seeing as we live together and drove here together and they didnt enforce that rule with anyone else despite several elderly couples sitting within inches of each other. Caregicers pushing the elderly in wheelchairs and sitting RIGHT NEXT to them. If I hadnt wait months for this appointment and in such need of a new prescription I would have cancelled on the spot. It is completely unacceptable for the staff to rude and unprofessional.

I forgot how amazing the doctors are The Eye Institute. If anyone is looking for a good eye doctor I saw Dr. Weins today and he was on point! Got my prescription down so fast. I haven’t had contacts feel so good in years! Low wait times and great staff.

Dr. Gaede himself was good. His assistant Diana didn’t even smile when I said, “ hi pleasure to meet you.” I wasn’t really expecting his kind of personality but he was semi- funny and informational at the same time. After my eye exam, I decided to go downstairs and browse their selection of glasses. Signed in, and waited, got called in about 10 minutes. The sales Rep Robin, called me and “assist” me but didn’t even do her job. She asked what I was looking for, I obviously said glasses, something that’s not too small nor too big, semi-rectangular shape. I asked if I can just browse around to see their selections and she said sure. Robin took me to one section for me to choose from. She was hovering over me, and I asked if I can expand my selection. Her reply was. “well you can but they’re all locked up because people tend to steal them.” I looked at her and said, “ do you really think I’m going to steal frames that don’t even have my corrected lenses in them? Yeah, okay I may not be Your kind but I do have a great job and plenty of money like the rest of these customers here. ” Robin didn’t say anything and started to pull glasses from the wall she took me to and asked me, “ do you like this one, or wait how about this one? Try this one on.” I told her no, I told her to not please rush me to buy something I don’t like. Constantly over my shoulder, I asked her to please step back because she was making me feel very uncomfortable. I had enough and left. Definitely will not be going there anymore.

We made appointments for all three family members and they told us 9:50 a.m. so we get there at 9:55 a.m. and they said your appointments started at 9:30 a.m. My husband called last week to confirm our appointments and they started the time of 9:50 a.m. So that is the time we went. Ok we were 5 minutes late, they could have seen out 7 year old. But they did not see any of us. They do not even deserve the one star rating. I will never come back to this place again.

I am a retired military veteran. After 23 years being retired, I have had SEVERAL eye exams every 2 years. The way it works is, you call the optometrist/ophthalmologist and schedule an appt. The optometrist/ophthalmologist office then contacts my insurance (Tricare) to obtain authorization. This is how it has worked for 23 years. Now, the staff at the California Eye Institute (Fresno) is changing the rules! Now, I as the patient am required to obtain authorization before the appt. According to 3 individuals at Tricare, it is up to the providers office to obtain this authorization....and has been for many, many years! Shame on those at this establishment for being too lazy to do their job!!!

My son had an appointment today and we live an hour away from Fresno. The office sent us one of those confirmation papers that says our insurance was approved for my sons visit and to bring the paper to the appointment. Well it had the wrong address written down on it. The doctor he was scheduled to see was on the other side of town. The person at the desk called and they dismissed me saying we had to reschedule.........just completely dismissed me after driving an hour away from home and pulling our son out of school for the day and making arrangements for our other two like it was no big deal. So I was fuming because this was an error on the offices part and they were trying to shoo us away. My husband and I drove to the other office on S street and explained the situation and they were like oh yeah no biggie and he was seen in like 10 minutes and Dr. Schmidt was super nice and I thank them for that. The other office needs a better staff and they need to be more accommodating of their own clerical errors and not so dismissive. Not everyone can rearrange their lives and take off of work just because of their mistake. This is clearly a common mistake because the first office had cards with maps to the other office right there at the front desk.

Great place to go for Eye exams, everyone friendly and smiling.

They have the best eye doctors and they were so friendly and made the eye exam super fun !! Definitely will be going annually !
