Sent a bill by a collection agency for Mary Washington. No details provided, such as date of service or what was done/billed. Told quite clearly that if not paid in 30 days it would be reported on my credit report. I asked for a detailed bill so i KNEW WHAT I WAS PAYING. Told quite clearly again that the collection agency did not have the information, and that they could request it, but if the bill was not paid by the 13th it would be reported on my credit report. NO DETAILS FROM MARY WASHINGTON HOSPITAL/MARY WASHINGTON HEALTH CARE were sent to me for over 29 days. I called, was told that it was sent to the collection agency. I DO NOT LIKE THE HOSPITALS STRONG ARM TACTICS. I have written to every agency I think applies and to the hospital for a return of my money.

Robin & Jessica who works in the ER are the most rudest and disrespectful people on a job. Robin made a smart comment telling me my wait time for the doctor to bring my discharge papers is going to be awhile I reply back saying its okay I have nothing but time. Robin then reply back been very rude & smart out the mouth saying it may even take up to the next morning mind you it was 6 in the morning. Been very disrespectful. If you see these names in the ER ROBIN OR JESSICA ask for someone else. You dont want to deal with them cause they dont care what your problem is.

I have thought long and hard on whether or not I should post this critique. Unfortunately I have had a lot of time to consider it seeing as I have just passed hour seven in the ER.My son hurt his shoulder/arm this evening at work. We came into the ER to get it checked out. Its almost 4:30am right now and we still have not been told what they think is wrong. Meanwhile my son has been in pain. We sat in waiting for four hours now we have been siting in triage for three hours. The communication is none existent. You have to track them down. By the way, there is no sign of any major calamity that has overwhelmed the ER. They are either understaffed, just slow or dont care about the minor cases.I struggle with this critique because just two months ago the very same ER saved my life. I had a major heart attack and they saved me. So when it comes to a major issue, a life threatening situation I trust them. Can we just bring some of that professionalism and customer service to the less severe cases???Approaching hour eight. Its almost 5am. There is no major catastrophe sapping up all of their resources. Yet we sit here waiting to hear about x-rays that were taken hours ago.Go ahead, someone justify this.

I didnt even want to put 1 star but for the purpose of posting this review I had to. This hospital has the worst communication skills. It is a hard time as it is due to the pandemic ( no visitation) and they find a way to make it even harder. My mother-in-law was hospitalized here last Friday 1/8/21, and sent home the next day, with a severe infection in the kidneys and in her blood and constant vomiting/nausea. Apparently the medication was supposed to help that. In less then 24 hours she had to go back because of the pain. Mind you she told the nurses because the doctor was a no show, about this pain. Thankfully we were finally able to talk to a Nurse named Ingrid who was helpful and gave us as much information as she could, unfortunately nurses are rotating and from Sunday 1/10/21 - 1/14/21 we were barely able to talk to any nurse or doctor. We were worried sick and wanted to know what was going on. My mother-in-law would call us letting us know the nausea wouldnt sop and she had not eaten in 72 hours. NOTHING WAS DONE, NO MEDICATION WAS SWITCHED and no doctor ever called us back. Our desperation went up on 1/13/21 when they again wanted to discharge her while still in a horrible condition. My sister-in-law called the day before, endless amount of times to get in touch with the doctor or nurse all we ever got was a nasty attitude from the nurses and NO COMMUNICATION from the doctor. By the afternoon of 1/13/21 we wanted to move my mother-in-law but of course we wanted her to be stable, the nurse finally answered and said her potassium is low so she is going to stay one more night. By the evening we made the decision of moving my mother in-law. They couldnt discharge her without a doctor, again never heard from anyone. The next morning 1/14/21 she called us saying she wanted to leave, she did not feel safe or in good hands. She still had nausea and horrible stomach pain. Since we could NOT get in touch with a nurse we called the room number, told her to call the nurse so we can talk to her that way. She called 5 times for a nurse, and I was on the phone with her for about 45 minutes... and no nurse ever came! This was the cherry on top. What if it was something life threatening? We were on the phone with her just in case and using another line to call the nurse or doctor. Thank God we were able to get her discharged and is in a much better hospital who was able to stop her nausea within hours and getting treated properly. Not only that but with staff who are aware that communication is essential during a pandemic. I hope this helps someone and hopefully changes how this hospital is training/hiring medical professionals. Please do not go to this hospital if it is for something serious.

Beware of Dr. Benjamin Watkins, DO, in the ER. He is aggressive and hostile to family members who are advocating in the best interest of their loved ones entrusted to his care. He will verbally assault and threaten you if you ask a question, make a request, anything, He slams doors and makes a huge scene, causing additional distress to patients already in critical situations. To make it all worse, he doesn’t honor the family’s requests to take their loved one elsewhere, safe and away from him. He has a bonafide problem with anger-rage really-and should seek professional help. He is a ticking time bomb at that facility.

Pretty bad when a hospital cares more about MONEY then patient care . Not coming to some reasonable agreement with Cigna has left thousands of people without any local care . some even having to have to find new Doctors and start all over with there care that they have been see the same Dr. for years MWHC is so networked in the area that almost ever facilitates and doctors are no available to CIGNA patients any more.

I got my covid vaccination today and I am singing praises to Mary Washington Healthcare. I was really worried because of what we see on the news. MWH knows how to get it done. Im so impressed and so grateful. You guys ROCK!!!! Im actually Nancy Sullivan.

Regarding a hospital review, you really must understand that hospitals operate like Aircraft carriers or small cities. There is good and possibly not so good depending on where you are a city. (So to speak) The same will go for any hospital or large enterprise. The question is what are you reviewing? This review will focuses on why people go to a hospital. The Medical skill and safety precautions at Mary Washington Hospital are just awesome. The OR, Emergency department and ancillary departments work ethics and healthy outcomes are unarguably five stars. I would not search elsewhere unless you live closer to Richmond. (MCV is also incredible medicine) Dont bother comparing smaller local hospitals to Mary Washington as they are not equipped the same.Bottom line, I trust Mary Washington with my family. What more is there? The community comes here to be healed and they excel at that.

It is such a shame how awful a privatized hospital like Mary Washington treats people. I had boiling water on my hand resulting in a 3rd degree burn, I BEGGED them to do something, and they did not do anything about it. I had it treated on a later date at Moss Free Clinic after putting aloe vera gel on it and wrapping it myself, and that was where I got a cream meant for burns. And what did their customer care say? That it was appropriate care... how? I provided pictures, I pointed out that none of the treatments listed on my discharge were for burns (there were treatments for the gash on my head and the scratch on my eye, but NOTHING for burns). This was followed up by a review from their risk manager and a vice president... and they still say that ignoring the burn, not treating it, and leaving an open and untreated burn wound was appropriate care just because they dont want the liability. Shameful, just absolutely shameful. I am going to share this everywhere I can, this is not acceptable.

So i was here two nights ago and was treated lile a human being. I was cared for and taken care of until I was well enough to leave I had an awesome team! I came back earlier today because my symptoms worsened couldnt hold down water or anything. I sat waiting for 10 hrs for the dr to tell me they dont have the equipment to test my ear fluid for MRSA. The inconsistency in treatment here is rediculous!

The worst hospital ever. Was brought here by ambulance due to a severe hand injury. Blood was just pouring out. They had to place a tourniquet on in the ambulance to stop the bleeding. As I arrived to the hospital the doctor didnt know what to do. They told me if my bleeding doesnt stop Ill go to emergency surgery to find out what was going on. So he left the room and called a specialist. He came back and said he will be here soon and left again. When he came back again he said the specialist told him to stitch me up and when he arrived hell reopen my hand to see what was going on.When he came into stitch me up he had to call the specialist to see how he wanted him to do it.Upon arrival of the specialist felt like hours. He came into the room and just glanced at my hand and came up with 6 tendons and 4 nerves. He told me I needed surgery and then dropped this question. Do you have insurance? I replied no and that I can pay payments no problem just needed my hand fixed. He said to me someone like you I do not trust to make payments. Stereotyping much? Then I asked what is that supposed to mean. He said that he will not make payment arrangements for someone like me. Then he said I can pay him $30,000 upfront and he will do something. I told him I dont have that kind of cash in my pocket.So he replied you can live like that and told me he cant do anything and I was being discharged.So I seeked medical assistants somewhere else and on my way to another hospital I went into shock and was rushed there by ambulance again. Twice in one day.Little too be told I went under for surgery to fix my hand which his diagnosis was. Wrong. It was 4 tendons 2 never and a severed artery.7 months ago this happened and Im sure for another surgery on the same hand.The worst hospital ever. Ill never go back. Uva is the place to go. And the only place Ill go now.Update. May 2017I just sent a request for them to investigate. They said that everything was right on how the doctors treated me. Discrimination against me. Refusing to treat me. Saying that they would only help if I gave them $30,000 upfront. All that is treating a patient right in there books.What really for me was this I can in by ambulance and they said my acuity was level one massive bleeding but yet there was no. Medical emergency. The only thing that controlled the bleeding was a tourniquet. Please someone tell me how acuity level one is not a emergency.This hospital is a joke I have all documents all are dated and from the hospital along with my medical records so everything is crossed with them that they are lying and trying to cover them selves.I dont think they knew I had my records and just send that investigation as a joke that I wouldnt know. Avoid this hospital at all costs.
