I have never seen anything as worst as being in that emergency room @ Mary Washington Hospital. My son was in a car accident . Admit him at 11 p.m. was never seen. No one even asked him was he ok. They checked everybody in but no one was seen. At 5a.m. They called the roll. A pack house and half the people left. They told me after dayshift arrived that he was third. Didn’t happen. That’s why we left because they didn’t give my son care. I wanted to take pictures of the situation, but didn’t.There was a pregnant girl that came in after us. You could tell that she wasn’t doing good, never seen. Of course she got checked in. An elderly woman that appeared to be really sick never seen. Midnight shift was THE worst. There was not a patient seen until day shift arrived. Took my son to Chippenham emergency room. What a difference. Immediately he was taken to Tramua unit. They checked everything on my son. They kept me informed about what going on. Chippenham emergency room was so amazing and the staff was so caring. Mary Washington emergency room staff need training and compassion for their patients. Even if they were busy, you couldn’t tell it from the waiting because no one was ever called on the midnight shift. Never ever again.

Went there because spouse was suffering really bad from what I guessed was food poisoning. She want in and out of consciousness for about thirty minutes or so. Got to this emergency room and filled out some paperwork electronic and paper then waited for 6 hours. We finally got up and left without being seen as we witnessed at least 7 other people do. One guy came in after falling off a curb, three teeth was missing, one tooth shoved through his gums, blood all over his face not to mention he had a fractured skull and broken nose. He was not seen after waiting for over four hours. Unless you are near death, go elsewhere unless you have hours to waste for absolutely no reason at all!!

Took my son when he tested positive for COVID because his symptoms had gotten worse. Was triaged pretty quickly but waited in the waiting area over 2 hours before I decided to get up and leave. Thank Goodness he was ok afterwards. Just horrible

I was advised to go to the ER today and I had a great experience despite all the negative reviews and wish that more people would take the time to talk about the good. This is a very busy hospital and that means longer wait times and your ER visit may not be as urgent as you think it is. Everyone was respectfully, professional, and got me out of there as quickly as possible despite it being busy!

Nobody even looked at me. Nobody helped me. Nobody made eye contact with me.I had serious chest pain, racing irregular heart beat, dizziness. The staff knew my situation.I was pushed back in a wheelchair abruptly then had the brake locked whipping my neck. I waited :45 minutes and saw nobody. I ended up going to another place. I will never go to this facility again. The staff seemed to be enjoying themselves and the patients were ruining their fun. This emergency room lacks the most basic humanity.

Skip this place and go somewhere else, a year ago I almost died because of this place, I was misdiagnosed a send home by this people. I had severe Crohns in large intestines and they let me go home. Only thing they do is putting you on medications without knowing whats wrong with you. Luck of testing . I was in this Er twice this month with my girl, last time on Saturday .She had stomach pain and was crying all day. She had internal bleeding and this hospital didnt help her . 4 hours in waiting room , 2 hours in emergency room and only thing they did was testing for how much blood is in her stomach. I drove 2 hours to Towson UM St. joseph Medical Center and she was immediately hospitalized. This place is definitely on my sh..t list

Took my daughter there with oxygen of 84 they wouldnt give her oxygen because they claimed that their equipment must be off. I have my own pulse ox. I showed them that they were reading the same and still they refused to give my 9 year old struggling to breathe oxygen. They never put a wrist band on her and the bathrooms where filthy with toilet paper roll sitting on top of the dispenser. That is very concerning for a hospital on high alert status for the flu outbreak that is so highly contagious and killing people.

Thi is by far the worst emergency service i’ve been to. arrived at 6:58 p.m and got discharged at 1:07 am the next day, im not sure if they are short handed but just imagine the amount of money we pay into health insurance premiums and deductibles for a mediocre service, save your time and money and go somewhere else.

I moved to the area a few months ago. I had read the reviews and was very nervous at the idea of having to visit this hospital or ER. I did not have the same experience as the other reviewers (I will chalk some of it up to the fact that not many with positive thoughts share their experiences in reviews). I am so grateful to the ER desk staff, the nurses, ultrasound tech and the doctors I saw at the ER there. The facility was very clean (it not only looked clean, but smelled clean, and there were people in every hall wiping and cleaning), they were very quick about check in, testing and even delivering me my results. It was super busy yet no one stopped moving or forgot the little things, like a kind word or a double check on pain or symptoms. I was kept in the loop at every step and never felt ignored or forgotten. I felt very comfortable and I felt very well taken care of by knowledgable, thorough staff. You can tell they have protocols and follow them well. I hate going to hospitals, but if I have to again, I would choose this one.

My fiancé suffers from migraines. They are debilitating when he gets them. The last few times he has gotten them and has had no choice but to go to the ER, you all have been wonderful. Since COVID, all the healthcare workers have been under so much stress and have cared for everyone with such compassion & professionalism, we thank you from the bottom of our heart. God Bless you and keep you all safe!Linda & Webster

This was the most awful experience Ive ever had. I was brought in an ambulance due to a car wreck. My heel was shattered and I was bruised and hurt all over. After I got to a room it was over an hour before I was x-rayed. When they found out my heel was shattered they said there was nothing they could do for me and said I had to find an orthopedic surgeon on my own without any recommendations. Everytime i was told to sit up I became super nauseous and was on the border of fainting and fell back down on the bed. The nurse that put my splint on got annoyed with me for that. They also didnt check anything other than my foot, even though i had been in a car accident. After I got the news that they wouldnt do anything to help, a nurse came in to discharge me. I told them my mom wasnt there yet because she lived 2 hours away, but she said they needed the room and Id have to sit in the lobby until she got there (with a shattered heel in excruciating pain). If that wasnt enough, they were supposed to send painkillers to the cvs across the street, but when we finally got there, cvs said the prescription was already filled. I spent 5 hours trying to get a hold of Dr. Balleh to fix my prescription, but I couldnt get a hold of anyone. By then it was too late and I was screaming in pain and pounding on the walls and had to go to a patient first to get a demaral shot.I would rather drive an extra hour if I ever have an emergency again. I hope I never have to go back to this hospital again.

Terrible service. I was in severe pain , and my wait at the ER was over 5 hours. Some staff was professional , when I called to the ER the next day to request a Dr note to give to my employer “Mrs. Sharon”, was extremely rude and tried rushing me off the phone w/o fully understanding my dilemma and what I was asking for, she said “Well I have someone standing in front of my desk I have to go!” If I ever need to go to the hospital I will look elsewhere!

Mary Washington ER: The absolute worst experience I have ever had at an ER. I would give them a negative rating if I could. I was in so much pain that I collapsed at the front desk and could barely form words. They insisted I fill out information in a Kiosk at the front desk and when I just couldnt they simply typed in that I had pain and left me on my own in the waiting room. After 4 hours sitting in the ER waiting room, I was in so much pain I couldnt take it so I left and went to another ER. I received no diagnosis or treatment while waiting at the Mary Washington ER, yet that didnt stop them from sending a bill.Thankfully after my ER visit, I was finally able to see a neurologist that discovered what was really wrong. He located 2 lesions in my brain and 1 in my spinal cord that have been causing the pain Ive been suffering with. It appears I have an auto-immune disease that is attacking my central nervous system.Since then I filed a complaint with Mary Washington Hospital, but I feel my concerns are still being ignored. I just get more of the same treatment from their complaints department that I got from their ER. They refused to take responsibility for how I was treated and have gone so far as to claim I was diagnosed and treated before I left to justify their bill. I received NO diagnosis or treatment... if I had I would have still been sitting in their waiting room!I will be filing a BBB complaint today, posting a Facebook update regarding my experiences to warn others, and calling my insurance to inform them they are being charged for treatment that was not provided. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this ER at all costs.

I brought my daughter around 5:00 pm and now it is 9:30 pm, and we are still waiting at the waiting room. We have been number 4 in the system for the last two hours and it is not even getting closer to end. I will remember this and next time, I will drive an hour far to Alexandria which still will be faster and better service.

Absolute worst experience ever. Would give this place 0 stars if possible. Was told 30min-1hr upon arrival, 4th in line for a bed. 3.5hrs later, we are told we are 2 away. This is for a post-op, with an infection at the wound site. Absolutely horrible. Terrible customer service as well.

We decided to leave because too long of a wait, too many other people there. Came home and cleaned it myself, at regular docs the next day. Horrible service, horrible place. Urgent care by my house was closed. Never will.go back to Mary Washington again.

Never will go back. Gave them a second chance they failed. 3 yrs ago my wife developed complications from surgery, was told to go to ER. She sat there and sat there and sat there. No one tended to us other than a Triage. Improper assessment made of her risk. Her doc said she was high risk with the complication. Fastforward 3 yrs later. I develop a severe condition. My doc said go to ER. Got there at 5 AM. At 7 AM not seen. I was dying in the lobby, violently coughing, unable to breath and heaving trying to get air in my lungs. I sat and sat. I left at 7 AM. As I left the xray tech came out to say he wanted to get my xray. 2 hrs later!!! I said no and left and went somewhere else where I was rapidly seen and diagnosed and treated. Had I stayed who knows what wouldve happened and how long theyd have left me sit even after an xray.

Brought my daughter here to the emergency room after she had a tooth knocked out from a bicycle accident. I would not come to this emergency room even if it meant I was going to die, because they would let me die in the waiting room anyway. Then at least I could die around human beings rather than all the disgusting people we interacted with at this facility. My daughter was shivering and I asked the girl at the desk for a blanket. She asked me if my daughter has a fever. I told her I didnt know. She said they couldnt give me a blanket until she was seen. Great thank you. An hour later some other woman brought us back into a room where they took my daughters blood pressure. They then figured out they had the wrong bracelet on my daughter, she is clearly 7 not 31 years old. Just shows the painstaking attention to detail they have here. Once they got that figured out the lady was like oh we cant help you with the tooth you need to see a dentist. Ok why didnt the people checking us in tell us that? Uh I dont know. At that point we just walked out and I was able to find a dentist for an emergency procedure to put her tooth back in. This facility made me feel like I was in a third world country. Whoever manages this facility should be fired. I have never experienced people who were as insensitive and incompetent as the folks at this facility. People at McDonalds are more concerned about your well-being than people working here. We ended up taking her to Inova Fairfax ER after her dental procedure at 3am just to double check her for brain/head trauma. A doctor saw us within 15 minutes and everyone was incredibly professional, particularly in comparison to MW ER. The doctor even called me herself the next day just to check on my daughter to make sure she was ok. I really appreciated her doing that. In summary the ER at Mary Washington is a terrible place and a disgrace to all those working in health care. If Im ever in need of emergency medical care I will tell whoever is driving to NOT go to the Mary Washington Emergency Room even if driving further north to stafford or fairfax decreases my chances of survival.
