In retrospect, I feel deeply hurt that my mother was not put in-patient hospice at McKee sooner. The suffering that she experienced at home while I was struggling to take care of her - it hurts me very much to think about it. This is my first experience taking care of someone with terminal cancer and I had no idea, but they should have. They sure should have. It was taking 45 minutes to get my mom to the potty because she could not get herself off the chair due to the fact that she was literally dying. This should never have happened and I am haunted. There should have been much more in home care - once a week a nurse came in and twice a week a nurses aid came in to help with bathing, etc. Not enough for a dying patient. They should have known. Dont expect a first-time person going through this to know. That is bad on you. When the RN came she was caring and nice. The nurses aid was ok. That is really the only good thing I have to say about this place. If you have other options, explore them. We were let down and a dying loved one is the type of thing that you dont want to find yourself let down in.

Pathways did it all. Their team cared for my husband in ways I never dreamed possible. From medical furniture, sponge baths, and music to bed pads and medication refills. We were supported the entire way. Thank you.

Pathways was very unprofessional in how they handled my grandmothers passing. We brought grandma home from the hospital and our pathways nurse did not show up for a couple hours. When he did, he was very nonchalant, did NOT explain any of the medications in the kit, did not offer to help us change her etc. His casual way of throwing around the word hospice sank my grandmothers spirits. He claimed that Pathways had a nurse on call 24/7, so that if we needed a question answered, they would be there. (The night on call nurse was great, very helpful.)However, the next morning grandma was suffering and we called the 24/7 nurse hotline. A young man who was NOT a nurse answered, saying he would find a nurse to call us. An HOUR later, we called THEM back. The same guy answered, again said he would find a nurse for us. (We asked a family friend nurse who had us give gma more morphine which helped her a bit)Almost an hour later, a nurse finally called back 5 minutes AFTER gma passed. She claimed they had a STAFF MEETING. Are you kidding. No nurses were available in a life and death situation because of a STAFF MEETING. Extremely unprofessional. Unacceptable. Do not use this place unless you agree that a staff meeting is more important than your loved ones comfort.

Pathways was a life saver for our family. We were losing our father and we were struggling with his care and keeping him comfortable. Pathways took an incredibly difficult situation and came alongside us, not only helping us with my dad, but giving us the comfort and support we needed. These people are truly angels. Thank you for your help and kindness as we walked this path...

The whole team we had at Pathways was beyond amazing to my mother and the whole family. The truly care, and they took such good care of my mom for her two weeks in the hospice unit before and after she passed. The nurse made it so comfortable in our home, and the family social worker was out fast everytime we needed her.

I would give this group a 100 star review if it were available to do so. We recently lost my father Orval Ben Poole and Pathways cared for him for 2 weeks before he left this earth. I cant find words to express how kind and caring each and every one of the staff were to my father and my sister Kathy and I during this time. Truly they are a very caring and kind group from the chaplain to the CNAs, nurses, social workers and all that worked with us. Special thanks to Allan, Kathy, Karen, Beth, Nathan, Sheena, Katye, Martha, Susan and Angie (who was not involved in the care of dad but came twice to visit). We love you all. My mother passed away on April 18, 2016 and had also been in the care of Pathways. We truly had the best experience with all of them. If you want a group of people to help you through the difficult time of losing someone we highly recommend Pathways. You wont be disappointed.
