I cannot, cannot recommend this office enough. I have never felt more heard than I do by Dr. Schrunk. She gives me actionable steps and advice to fix my ailments, she actually cares about me getting better. She’s the best doctor Ive ever had—-ever—-and I’ve seen hundreds of them.I usually have Brooke as my nurse and she is phenomenal, as well.I really can’t say enough about these two and the entire team here. They are amazing and I’m so thankful to have such a supportive, smart, thorough, and compassionate doctor and nurse.I’m so thankful that y’all went into this field because the world needs more health care professionals like you.

If I were just rating the doctors this would be a 5. The problem is the staff. Through the UC portal we were told we could get a letter from our doctor (a form letter that takes 2 minutes to fill out and print or 10 seconds to say no we dont do that). In my initial request I informed them we needed it the next day. It was not until the next day, after 4 phone calls and waiting outside that they decided to inform us that they need 72 hours. The first email should have stated that. One of they many phone calls to the office should have informed us. There are many good ways it could be handled, they chose to be rude to my wife instead. Although we have been patients since returning to Colorado, today was our last day. As I emailed: we will find a competent office for ALL our future medical needs.

I have been so happy with this office/staff/doctors! Rarely do I post/review any business but this place deserves the time. Dr. Prows not only has an unbelievable way of making me comfortable for any appointment, he is always up to date on modern medicine, never leaving me uninformed on my visits. I would recommend/refer Dr. Prows to anyone, anytime!

I saw shrunk at start of year because insurance wasnt accepted at my wonderful doc. I am not a simple case and from the start she was adversarial. Scared it seemed and her inexperience destroyed me, ended up hospitalized. Im certain it wasnt intentional but it cost me my health and still trying to recover. I then saw Dr prows who was fantastic in most ways, very competent doctor. I have much respect for Prows stepping in and doing his best but my old doc took me back and. In better place.

Dr. McCarthy and the team at Associates in Family Medicine on South Shields is fantastic! Very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and caring doctor and staff help make going to the doctor a better experience. Let’s face it, we don’t really enjoy having to go to the doctor, but when the need arises, this is where I’d want to go. My family and I have been longtime patients of Dr. McCarthy, and we plan to be for a longtime to come. I usually don’t leave reviews, but they are deserving!

Dr. Prows has been a wonderful family physician. He actually listens to what you say and comes up with treatments to fit what each family member needs. He will take the time to research something if he doesnt have an answer or if he knows someone else with that specialty. The other doctors in the office have been great as well.

Upon recently moving to the area and not having seen a doctor in years, I called to schedule an appointment for a physical and get established with a primary care physician. Spoke with receptionist and I was shocked when I was told it would 2-3 months out to book a physical. Overall they seemed disinterested in such an appointment. I was told I could book an appointment to speak to a Doctor about whats bothering me, but it would be months to get a physical. Very strange for sure, but then I noticed on google that this isnt your typical medical practice. Please beware of medical practices like Associates in Family Medicine. This is a large medical services organization where Doctors are not true owners of the business, but rather employees earning a fixed salary. Youll get significantly better care and service from a Doctor who has a stake in their business and is an owner in their practice. In my experience, practices such as this, that employee 40 Doctors over half a dozen offices, tend to be profit driven (corporate model) and provide overall sub-par care because the Doctors dont have a stake in the business. Think of it like visiting a Starbucks for a designer cup of coffee...

Went here for one test that is generally $50-200 dollars.Paid all in house bills, thought everything was done. Got a bill from UC Health for $900 dollars for said test. This place outsources all of their labs and do not inform you of it besdies a small poster in the lobby. They said they are not obligated to tell you when they outsource testing. They said since UCHealth did the testing they are obligated to cover any of the costs. They also stated they do not have to inform patients the costs of test before they are done. This is a shady practice that is just trying to scam you out of your money. Please go somewhere friendlier and more transparent about their pricing and testing.

I had been dreading my appointment today for a long time (just an unpleasant procedure that needed to be done) and was very anxious and nervous. Dr McCarthy was fantastic and put me at ease and was very down to earth and easy to talk to. She walked me through the procedure and it went smoothly and way better than last time (done elsewhere). The staff at the front desk and her assistant/nurse were all super friendly and made me feel comfortable. I have never done a review for a Dr Office before, but this was an exceptional visit!

I hate giving this place a 1 star review because my doctor was great. The issue I have is with the billing department. I had a $100 bill go to collections because I didnt pay it in time, which resulted in me getting dismissed from the practice. I did not receive any notice that I would be dismissed from the practice and they definitely did not give me an adequate amount of time to find a new doctor. I take anti depression and anxiety medicine daily and now will not be able to get them refilled because no one in fort collins is taking new patients. Way to screw some one over associates in Family Medicine!

I very much respect and appreciate Dr. Erin Schrunk. Before my appointment with her, I had a concern that she would not have the experience needed to help me, because she was relatively new to Associates in Family Medicine, to be frank. But I was very pleasantly surprised. Dr. Schrunk was knowledgeable, thorough and helpful. She provided a wealth of information that has helped me significantly. I am grateful that she is a provider at Associates in Family Medicine. I believe I can trust her and I am grateful she chose AFM. Thank you, Dr. Schrunk!

Ive been a patient at this facility since I was a small child, and its been way too long that I have been patient with these people. Any time you call for anything, it doesnt matter who answers the phone, they will act bothered at any request and chances are your request wont even be acknowledged or acted upon regardless of the importance of said request. Getting anything out of these people in a timely fashion is just unheard of and extremely irritating. I dont know if they are understaffed or simply not qualified for their positions over there, but the last 5 years have been a headache Im more than happy to part with. I wouldnt suggest Associates in Family Medicine to anybody.

Dr. Schrunk thinks quickly and speaks concisely. During our first meeting we covered a tremendous deal of my medical history. She was thorough, attentive, and non judgemental. In my experience, curiosity and an investigative attitude are unfortunately rare. I love Dr. McCarthy...she is amazing. I absolutely hate how long it takes to get an appointment with her (shes my primary care physician). I have to schedule 3 months out or more now, which doesnt work when my family and I randomly get sick. Ive seen one or two PAs here, and the experiences have been pretty bad. They have misdiagnosed one time, and the other time they rushed us out and seemed annoyed at having to treat people. I will not see a PA again.

New patients, I would strongly suggest that you do a thorough search before you choose the clinic or its doctors. We had to change our first doctor Dr. Joseph Prows 2 years back as he lost both my husbands and my medical records of 15 years. We then had to change it to Dr. Erin Schrunk in the same clinic. Both the doctors do not seem to care for their patients. Not sure if it is AFMFC or the doctors, but it seems it works as a very commercial organization. Well-being of patients doesnt seem to be a focus at all. Recently my daughter was very sick and both the clinic and the doctor could not accommodate her appointment even after the ER sent notes to primary care provider (Dr. Schrunk) that our daughter needs to have a follow up with her within five days of ER visit. Very irresponsible. In short, if you are ill do not expect that the doctors here are going to accommodate your request for care and appointment. Very disappointed in the doctors and AFMFC. Will never recommend it to family and friends.

I brought my whole family here and you would think they would be happy and helpful. But now Im having second thoughts about this choice. The doctor we saw is ok. But the way I felt yesterday after my two sons appointments tells me that I should never go back there.I have a 10 year old who should be by this age cooperative but he s just not. And its out of my control. I talk to him every time and explain things. It just doesnt work. His whole body starts shaking uncontrollably when he sees a needle.I asked this place if they see children, and they said Yes. If they cant deal with difficult children, they should warn parents and send them to pediatric Centre instead. The nurse was the opposite of helpful and refused to try unless I guaranteed her hed let her do the shot. Does she seriously think I enjoy my son being like this? And if I could make him stop, I wouldnt?!They made me feel very bad, and after all the stress I have to go through with my sons phobia, this is the last thing I need from nurses. We had one more bad experience earlier this week when doctor/nurse was too busy to get back to us on the day she said she would. My husband was traveling out of Country and needed the Rx asap and we informed the AFM about this.PS I cant say more about the doctor because it was only one appointment so far.

Ive been going here for years, but Im at my wits end. The staff is very unorganized: if youre on any kind of medication that needs to change, or if you have a prescription or insurance issue, get ready to play musical chairs and phone tag for weeks while you try to get it taken care of.This month I had a medication change I needed help with, and I called 5 times to have them fax the new Rx over to my pharmacy. Two nurses said they called it in but the pharmacist never got it, another nurse called in the wrong dosage (which messed up my insurance coverage for the drug), and multiple nurses assured me that they would call me back and never did (a common occurrence). My mom went in a while ago, and when the medication they gave her made her extremely ill, the nurses were rude to her, wouldnt let her talk to the doctor, and told her shed have to make a new appointment even though she was just in two days prior and didnt have good health insurance (so a 10-minute office visit cost $150+). They basically left her hanging and she had to quit the medication cold turkey, which caused even more problems. So, after years of putting up with the BS, Im moving on. Hopefully Ill find a good doctor *and* an organized, friendly office staff.

Great care from doctors, not great care at urgent care, zero care from billing/adminI came in last month to establish PCP care with Dr. Rotman. He was fantastic. He was thorough and extremely caring. As far as provider care, its an easy 5 stars.Where Associates in Family Medicine fails is in the billing/admin side. They are listed as in network on my insurance site and the front staff also confirmed that fact, and assured me that I would just have to pay my copay, which I did. A few weeks after the visit I got a bill in the mail for about $100. Extremely confused I called Associates billing office. The representative told me there is nothing that they can do and I just have to pay the difference. I asked to speak with a manager, and did speak with one. Whether this bill was correct or not, the level of business-mindedness in how I was addressed with lack of care for my surprise $100 bill was not what I would expect from a local provider, more so from a corporate billing office. It was clear that this was my problem, not theirs. Again, it may just be my lack of understanding with insurance, but I just wanted to fully understand why I was getting this unexpected bill. I was told that I can take it up with my insurance company.I was intending to establish my new permanent PCP that my family and I would visit for the foreseeable future. Id love to keep this doc, but finances are just as important to this decision. This has happened twice with this billing center now, once at this location with PCP and once at Horsetooth with urgent care. I thought itd be a different story this time as I was with a different insurance as of the new year. Same surprise bill. If anything, just do a better job of letting me know what my actual costs are going to be for visiting. Oh, I was also told if it doesnt work out with insurance I can submit a claim to be reviewed by Associates medical director. Well my issue isnt with the medical care (at least not at this one).I did finally get with my insurance company on both issues, which they promptly took care of on their end. It wasnt necessarily the insurance or Associates fault, but the failure is in that I had to take care of it myself. I specifically asked my insurance rep if its usually the companys billing office that calls to take care of a disputed issue or if its the patient. He said that its about 50/50. Some doctors offices are caring enough to figure it out, others pass it on to the patient. I guess Associates is the latter.Great care with Rotman, not great care with urgent care. Zero care from billing/admin office.

I have been a patient of Dr. Prows for about 8 or 9 months now. I have had chronic migraines and neck pain for 4 years now. I didnt seek treatment until 2 years ago for my headaches. I saw 2 other doctors in FOCO and they spent about 5-10 mins with me each time and then prescribed 60 pain killers til i saw them next. Pain killers are actually incredibely bad for treatment of migraines and can prolonge the pain in the long run. My experience with Dr. Prows and AFM staff was much different. First off Dr. Prows has a masters in public health, this shows he generally cares about the public that he treats (My brother is an MD and also has his MPH). Prows is always on time for appointments and I have never felt rushed or uncomfortable in the office. I still have migraines everyday but I know that I am being treated by someone who cares about my well being and progress. He has me on meds for migraine prevention and for intense neck pain these have helped to make life a little more enjoyable without having rebound headaches from pain killers. He is also great at explaining medications purposes and how they treat migraines and neck pain. AFM and Prows are also extremely organized in communication with other Doctors(specialists). I see a neuro in Texas and they had received eveything needed from Prows and AFM to start a nerve block treatment the first visit down there. I would and have recommended this practice, specifically Dr. Prows, to friends and family.
