1st off this hospital took excellent care for me during a hard time of losing a child. I was 29 weeks pregnant when I was informed my baby no longer had a heartbeat. They treated me and my baby with the utmost care and allowed me to see her whenever I would like just as any other mother would with their living child. Everyone there is amazing and if I ever needed anything they were just a call away as they still are.

The behavioral health unit Renaissance Center needs to re-evaluate how they train their staff to interact with patients families. The only decent staff member I interacted with while my daughter was inpatient there was a RN, Anthony(?) on the first night. He was caring and compassionate. The psychiatrist, Dr Sanchez, was horribly rude, unprofessional and condescending when she spoke to me. She went so far as to be almost insulting, insinuating that everything wrong with our daughter was our fault. She contradicted statements she made regarding discharge care, and overall I felt almost bullied by her.The social worker, Kyle Smith, was just as bad. He was short and rude, going so far one day to hang up on me while I was in the middle of a sentence. I was clearly stating, hang on, I have something else and he said, thanks, okay bye and hung up on me. When I called back to inform him that I was not yet done, I had further questions, he insincerely stated that he apologized, thought we were done and were saying goodbye. Then when I attempted to make clear to him that we would have no problem picking our daughter up at discharge, she would just have to call us a little ahead of time to give us time to get there, he again got short and rude and stated they would just send her home in a taxi. I about had to argue with him that wed pick her up.If this is how the doctor and the social worker interact with patients families, I shudder to think what their actual patient care is like.

This emergency room was a JOKE!!!!! We will never be back! Could have went to express med and gotten better care! My boyfriend and I just left from ECM emergency room and basically they sent us home with steroids and a pat on the back! We went to there because my 25 yr. old boyfriend was having severe chest pains, blurred vision and shortness of breath and this was the second time it had happened in a week. Walking in the nurse at the front desk treated us like teenage kids as if we were over reacting. Well we get back to a room and they start running all kinds of test and asking for his history. So after they get all the information they decide they are going to do a chest ex-ray. Two hours later the doctor comes in and says well your heart looks fine we think you have bronchitis but you have no infection and your chest ex-ray looks fine too so we think you will be fine and we are going to give you some steroids have a nice day. Not only was the staff useless the building and cleanliness was horrendous!!! Needless to say I will not be back even if my life depends on it!!!!!

I had a gall bladder removal here, and my son years ago his appendix removed, they took good care of us both. The doctors, staff, and nurses were professional, kind, caring, and attentive. They are in the process of building a new hospital, and this one will hopefully be put to good use for Veterans, but unsure what will become of it yet. Thank you too all who work at ECM for your care, it is appreciated.

Had surgery there in November 2016. Was on 2nd floor. No hot water in bathroom. I asked after surgery about taking a sponge bath. Nurse brought a pan of cold water and 3 wash cloths, sit it on floor and walked out. If thats not enough nurse left surgical packing inside me. Was sent home with it. Called for an ER visit 5 days later bad infection had to get packing removed then.

I went for a shoulder and back injury. Not severe, but extremely painful. They completely ignored my back pains and focused on my shoulder. They still wouldnt do anything and I had to beg for an xray. If course ,nothing was wrong. And the gave me a steroid shot and sent me out the door with the WRONG paperwork for my insurance claim. No Im going back and forth with the billing department. Ill never be going back. Also while I was waiting a woman came in crying and screaming, my mom is dying in the car outside will someone please help me! the little lady at the counter looked at her like she didnt care, slowly walked to get a wheel chair, didnt call for help. Slowly walked outside and argued with the hysterical woman about her mother instead of trying to comfort her. I was actually the one to talk to The woman and calm her down. This is by far the worst hospital operation Ive EVER SEEN. Dont go to this hospital. Oh also they sent 6 people ahead of me because they said I didnt seem to be in much pain. Im sorry, but I dont show weakness. Wasnt raised that way. There are still men out here

Incompetence!! Doctor did not ask about medicine allergies and prescribed medication that I was allergic to. THANK GOD FOR PHARMACIST. He caught it. I have been to ECM 4 times this year and 3 of those 4 have been VERY DISAPPOINTING. One time was discharged with NO INSTRUCTIONS and they forgot to give me my prescriptions also. I called them when I realized it and was told couldn’t have after you leave. I have always gone to ECM and even defended it when people were talking bad about it. This facility consistently disappoints in all areas. I have refused to be taken here after numerous experiences with my family and friends in the last 2 years. Two of these were life threatening and one patient had to be taken to another facility against ECMs advice. The other highly regarded facility scoffed at the approach ECM had taken for 4 days with no results or even a plan. The other facility had success and discharge with 36 hours.I now refuse to even have blood taken by their satellite labs due to their billing department. The actual lab technicians at cox creek office are very good. The central business office is terribly managed. They will never answer the phone so you have to leave a message. If your message is for anything other than giving them money, it will never be returned.

Absolutely horrible experience at ECM. Walked in with my finger nearly severed and was set in a hallway bleeding. Within 10 minutes, someone came by and asked me for payment saying that I would get out of here much sooner if I paid promptly. I agreed and paid for EVERYTHING in advance.Hours pass and a doctor has not even seen me. Not a nurse practitioner. Nobody. As Im bleeding in their hallway. Finally after I had been there close to three hours, a nurse practitioner comes up to look at my wound and as its still bleeding, says Oh...we really should get that stitched up. You dont say? I then received another bill in the mail (after having paid my bill in full).I spoke to the director and his attitude was very unpleasant. He kept saying I could have paid a lot more. Honestly, I really dont care. I should be happy that you are only screwing me out of less than you screw other people? This hospital only sees dollar signs in their eyes when you walk in. They do not care about you as a patient and only want to fund the new hospital they are building.

As a post-operative patient, I found the nursing care to be dangerously inattentive if not inept. Fortunately my spouse, who is medically knowledgeable, was with me around the clock and protected me from the grossest errors. One example: Because Im diabetic (not insulin dependent), my blood sugar was checked ....and was nearly 500. The tech who did the test said shed inform the nurse.......After 30 minutes passed, my spouse went to see if anything was going to be done. The tech had made a written note on my chart but the nurse had not even looked at it. Having had it called to his attention, he came along with an insulin injection. ECM apparently does not even have meals tailored for diabetics....I was served regular meals--high carb, sweet desserts, etc. Though I was bed-fast, there was no effort to bathe me or allow me to brush my teeth. Overall, the lack of care, the lack of concern, should frighten anyone from going there. First time, last time, for me.

The entire ER staff, Jason RN... was very rude, inconsiderate, and more interested with there cell phones and discussing social media. Something needs to be done to insure the quality and well being of the patients IS the TOP priority and concern in the ER. The State needs to close this facility, if this is the quality of care to be received when visiting the ER.

Horrific experience as always. Only once have I ever been treated with a modicum of dignity, respect. There is exactly one R. N., and one P. A. who have compassion, humanity in the entire ER. The rest are cruel, cold, heartless creatures with the bed side manner, and care of a bridge guarding troll. Their sole concern is the bottom dollar. Were it legal, I think theyd rather youd just die than to have to take care of you.

Was here day before yesterday with extreme back pain.. they put me in a fast track room in a hard plastic recliner, knowing I was having issues sitting and was more comfortable laying down. I sat there for a good hour in tears waiting to be seen, and didnt even get to see an actual doctor. Was just a Nurse Practitioner. Gave me pain meds that didnt work, and then subjected me to the most PAINFUL x Rays I have had in my life. I was tugged on and pushed on without warning which made the pain shoot down my legs and up into my ribs. NO CONCERN for that at all. Absolutely never asked about my pain scale.. never asked me if I wanted more than ibuprofen, never offered me any water or any other basic kindnesses. Watched me walk out with my husband and then suggested as I am slumped over in tears to Take a hot bath. They did this knowing I couldnt even stand up, let alone get in and out of a tub! RUDE, TERRIBLE BEDSIDE MANNER, INCOMPITENT .. and those lack the true frustration behind those words. I am STILL in ridiculous pain and have been in bed since I got home days ago unable to walk unassisted AT ALL. DO NOT go here if you actually expect help!

We waited right at 2 hours after we saw him for any type of treatment. He made excuses but I saw him there and going down different hallways. I was angry when he got back to my mother 2 hours later and his words exactly were “ where is the HATE COMING FROM”. I had no hate for anyone, am I not entitled to be angry when my mother is ignored by nurses saying he had written no orders but all her results had been back and at an apathetic DOCTOR , and I use that term loosely. Doctors don’t behave that way. My grandfather always called ECM THE SNAKEPIT, it hasn’t improved! Im giving 2 stars because when I was little and went to the er the wait time was terrible. 4 or 5 hrs and then when I got in they didnt do anything for me at all. Good hospital for emergencies maybe. Do not let your family go here. They practice medicine in an almost mid-evil way. They almost killed a family member of mine. That is not an exaggeration or a joke. If we had not moved him to UAB he would have surely died. He started improving drastically 2 days after moving him. UAB did some tests and treated him with the proper antibiotics and things turned almost instantly. They (ECM) were trying to open up his abdomen and CUT OUT the infection for a 4th time, which our new doctors told us was a really bad idea and would have surely finished the job (killing him). He required a total abdominal reconstruction to repair the damage done by this hospital, but we had to wait 6 months for him to build up strength as they literally almost killed him at ECM. There were a FEW good nurses there, and they know who they are. Thank you to both of them. The rest of the staff is horrendous, without compassion, and down right evil in some cases. Especially the chubby male nurse who was the nurse captain of the 3rd floor. My family member was sick for almost 2 years under their care. It has been 4 years since the initial botched surgery he is now almost recovered from their terrible, amateur procedures. Please dont make the same mistake we did. They treated us like dogs, and tried everything in the world to prevent us transferring to UAB. They even tried to tell us the ambulance ride to UAB was going to cost $2k and our insurance wouldnt cover it. That was a lie. Every single surgery resulted in a major infection. I am not exaggerating. Recently I found out that another family member has had a similar experience. So, things have not changed. Do yourself a favor and go to a real hospital.

This hospital is a joke, go anywhere else before going to ECM. This review will be regarding my husbands care in the E.R in late October although I had my own horrible experience there in 2011. After this were never going back.My husband had an appendectomy 4 weeks prior to our visit (performed at Madison Hospital which is amazing and I would recommend) and was experiencing a complication. We were there at 8am on a Saturday so the wait time was nil, they treated my husbands excruciating pain with appropriate medications, and they accurately diagnosed the problem which was a 2.5MM kidney stone that was a post-op complication from the appendectomy. Those are the only positive things I can say. He was never seen by a doctor, just a CRNP, which is unacceptable. The nurse was supposed to administer fluids for dehydration, but never did even after I questioned why he hadnt received them yet. The only medications they prescribed were for pain, no alpha blocker to help the stone pass, which is both a typical and crucial part of treatment. They didnt provide any verbal instructions upon discharge, just a huge stack of paperwork that I had to comb through to discover that he needed to strain his urine until the stone passed, and they didnt provide us with a sieve/strainer either. They rushed us out like the place was on fire, in and out within 2 hours and everyone was very brusk and rude to us (while of course greatly enjoying themselves chatting and joking around with fellow staff members) while we were there. They did slip a referral to a urologist inside all of that paperwork and on the Monday following the E.R visit he mercifully fit my husband in for an appointment and was APPALLED by the lack of care he had received at ECM.

Both the 7A-7P and 7P-7A inpatient nurses and nursing assistants (all 3, all shifts) were consistently competent, responsive, patient, and compassionate. The hospitalist MD and cardiology consultant were personable, up-to-date, realistic, and great communicators. Special kudos to Dr. Speyer, Dr. Nimako, Dr. Naidu. For privacy reasons, names of excellent nurses and nursing assistants are not listed here - to be shared with Director of Nurses. The excellence from all 9 members of the staff - without exception - far surpassed my expectations. I am a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Nurse Practitioner. I tend to be critical when care has not met standards of practice and my own personal standards for caring. The staff were universally exceptional! Thank you, all.
