I was referred by my primary on behalf of my eye doctor to determine if there was any thyroid component to my severe dry eye problems. When Dr. Wilkins came into the room, she seemed annoyed that I was on her schedule and said so but said, oh well, youre here, I guess well go ahead. I explained why I had been sent; she was very skeptical but eventually did do an ultrasound and ordered some blood work. I returned to her office as directed 4 weeks later. She came into the exam room and asked if I had received the results of the blood work. I said yes. I got the distinct impression she felt I was just wasting her time by being there. She talked about the results briefly and shooed me out the door. I had something else to discuss but was annoyed so left.Today I called her office to make a new appointment to discuss an issue directly related to her specialty of endocrinology. I got static from the receptionist but I insisted and got an appointment for the next week. so I then received a message from the nurse who wanted to know what questions I had. I explained. She said shed have to consult the doctor then flat out lied by saying they had no appointments available for some time. Knowing I was going to get the brush off, I made an appointment with another, very highly rated endocrinologist in Summerville (as compared to the really bad reviews I see on her site). I understand he listens and tries to help his patients regardless. So, I finally heard back from the nurse and Surprise! I was told I should see my Primary. Shocker. You know Dr. Wilkins, if you dont love or at least enjoy your job or want to help people, STOP, get out now before somebody gets very sick or dies.Im not crazy nor am I hypochondriaical. I am a reasonably intelligent individual who was doing what I had been asked to do; you knew that. My questions and the purpose of the additional appointment are clearly related to the practice of endocrinology for which the doctor holds a Board certification. I would have discussed it had I felt comfortable enough or been given a small opportunity to do so at the 4-week followup appointment. In my opinion, Dr. Wilkins flunked bedside manner, sensitivity, and the ability to effectively listen. I am not impressed.Unless you have zero other options, and I do mean zero, avoid this provider. You might do better with the other partner in the practice.

I accompany my father to his appts, with Dr. Wilkins. She is very good about asking questions and listening to understand the total health picture. She orders tests when necessary and is up to dateOn the most effective treatments. The McLeod health system suffered through a system upgrade last year which caused some labs and records ordered by other physicians involved in my dad’s treatment not to be available. This was frustrating but has now been corrected.

I dont feel like my concerns were taken seriously. Also, the doctor admitted that she was confused the vast difference between original and repeated lab values. She also denied something she told me on the first visit. I couldnt convince her to repeat lab work.I just dont feel satisfied and suspect lab error somewhere. Her manner was nice and professional though. She also allowed me to vent my frustration too. Very little wait time, maybe 10 mins. Friendly staff.Just cant see how a doctor can clear someone when they admit that they are confused by vast difference in lab values.

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Wilkins, and I will not be returning as her patient. I was only allowed to explain why I was referred to her. I wasn’t given the opportunity to express my concerns, or ask the necessary questions. She didn’t review my most current lab work before determining I wasn’t in need of care. She didn’t ask any questions about what I was experiencing, and didn’t give me an opportunity to explain. Immediately after the appointment I spoke with management, and withdrew myself as a patient.

Violating hippa in so many ways. My privacy as a patient #1 should be a high priority! Dirty rooms and she is very nasty. My appt was at 130 pm didnt see her until 440pm.... If a doctor refered a patient to u then that information should always be in the referral..???.!just got my copay. And gave me a prescription. Slack! I dont recommend anyone to her. Im still waiting on a call bk..
