I have been seeing Dr. Gaffney for 20 years. He is the kindest, most sincere, and patient doctor I have ever had. He completely puts me at ease and has resolved every issue I’ve had (multiple skin cancer issues). There is sometimes a wait, but that’s because he is just as patient with others as he is with you. He’s definitely worth the wait. I highly recommend he and his staff!

When I first came back to MI my nieces referred me to Dr Gaffney for freckle checks. Now that I live in Troy I go to their Sterling Heights office for my annual checks. But I have had to see Dr Gaffney multiple times for moles to be removed and biopsied and twice in the past 12 months to have en-situ melanomas removed - he does all the surgery work. And he has been the best, kindest dermatologist and surgeon Ive had. And his surgical nurse Jennifer has been awesome too! They both put me at ease and had great conversations while they were getting ready. I would refer them to anyone looking for a dermatologist!

Dr. Gaffney has been so wonderful every time I’ve seen him. He is definitely one of the friendliest doctors that I have been to. The front office staff is extremely friendly, and the nursing staff goes above and beyond to make you more comfortable! Both Dr. and AnnMarie have been so pleasant to work with each time I have seen them, making for a great overall experience!

I love this place! I had horrible acne so I came here and they immediately put me on accutane. 6 months later I was done and I haven’t had any acne since then. My skin is truly amazing now and I love it! The people here are great and Dr. Gaffney is so good with his patients. Highly recommend this place.

Waited in the waiting room for about a hour and 10 minutes. Once you get in the room and someone comes in , then they spend only five to ten minutes with you.

I will never give a doctor like this my business. First of all, upon check in, I was met by a rude employee who simply stated that she wanted my ID and insurance card. She never even said hello. Next she told me to have a seat. There were none. I asked her what to do, she told me to wait in my car for phone call. One hour later, I walked in to Inquire about my appointment. She said WHO ARE YOU? DID YOU CHECK IN? I told her to give me my cards back and cancel my appointment. Zero chance I reward these people with my time or business. After reading other reviews,I can see this doctor and his office are all about quantity not quality.

Distancing wasnt an option. The waiting room sat 10 but had 17 waiting. I waited for 45 minutes after my appointment time until i was called to be seen. Ill be finding a doctor who respects my time and safety.

Gaffney is fine, but there are plenty of good offices in the area that don’t make you wait for 1-2 hours. When doctors overbook their appointments by that much, it shows the patient they’re motivated by money and could care less about the inconvenience to their clientele.

I do not understand the necessity of a full waiting room of elderly patients during a pandemic. There was a screener at the door to check temperatures, but I did not feel safe in this environment. I waited in the car until they called me. When I left, the waiting room was full again.

First time there and was met with the rudest receptionist ever!! I didnt stay. Probably not good to roll your eyes on a first meet. Ill be seeing a different Dr.

Waiting time is unacceptable. Waiting in a full waiting room I had to stand. Front employees are not friendly, talk bad about patients after they leave. Check out employee has a bad attitude and complains that we can hear in the waiting room. Does not value their patients time at all.

Dr. Gaffney has been helping me with my acne problem and he has done a tremendous job! I am so happy with the results. I am confident enough to go out in public with out makeup. Yes, it is a very long wait in the waiting room but that’s because he’s a great doctor and so many people want to see him. Thank you Dr. Gaffney!

The Gaffney and Dr Karlene are the best dermatologist. I enjoyed working with him. He also has a great office Manager Wanda Davis❤️ I enjoyed working for Dr Gaffney and Dr Karlene my daughter and myself will not trade Dr G and Dr K for another Dermatologists. I hardly ever write reviews but I needed to for this. The doctor is nice and did help me, but I did always have at least an hour or two wait. That wouldn’t bug me at all, and I would expect the long wait if it were an awesome office/experience but it wasn’t. The front office staff was rude (mostly at the checkout) and anytime I had a question about something at checkout I was literally interrupted mid-sentence and couldn’t get my question out. I even caught her rolling her eyes at me one time lol! I called two weeks later for a follow up and was treated the same way. I have never been to an office and been treated like this. At least the ladies that would take me back to the room to see the doctor were so nice and were a breath of fresh air.I did find out while I was waiting in the waiting room that I am not the only one treated like this. During on of my two hour waits, I overheard her being just as rude to others, so at least I know it’s just their poor attitudes and that I wasn’t the only one.

Dr. Gaffney is a brilliant doctor who is thorough, patient focused and extremely knowledgeable in his field. He gives each patient his full attention and insures that they understand both their diagnosis and recommendations of care. His medical staff are efficient, compassionate and excellent with patient needs! The staff works very diligently to see to it that EVERY patient can get in to see a doctor as soon as possible. I have been a patient of Dr. Gaffneys for over 10 years, as well as my entire family (including my youngest children), and you will not find a more intelligent and compassionate dermatology doctor in this area! I highly recommend him and his staff for all of your skin care needs. He is wonderful!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Gaffney for over 15+ years. He is very attentive and conscientious when it comes to his patients. I was able to get in and out of the office without feel rushed or waiting too long to be seen by Dr. Gaffney. Karlene Dermatology upholds to a high standard with their patients, which includes proper diagnosis. I definitely recommend Dr. Gaffney to anyone who needs expertise in the field and comfort knowing they will be taken care of.

Dr. Gaffneys office and staff are top notch. My husband and I decided to finally make an appointment for annual skin checks. Our wait time was short and the entire staff was very friendly. Dr. Gaffney spent time individually with both of us. As we both love the sun and being outdoors, it was reassuring to have Dr. Gaffney check us out. He was thorough, took some pictures, and removed a couple of things to send for pathology. Luckily all came back normal. We will definitely continue to have annual skin checks with Dr. Gaffney. You can tell that he really cares about his patients and has their health as his number one priority. His expertise, knowledge and bedside manner sets him apart. If I could give him 10 stars, I would. I highly recommend him for my family, friends or to anyone who cares about their skin health.

I have recently taken my son to see Dr. Gaffney and it was a great experience. His staff was very knowledgeable, and our wait time was less then 30 minutes. Dr. Gaffney was very personable and patient with my son. I found him to be a compassionate doctor and was able to treat all of my sons conditions. I would highly recommend him.

Tried to make an appointment as a new patient. I was told by staff they could not make me an appointment because I did not have my updated insurance ID number. I asked if there was a way they could look up my insurance otherwise and was told no. The answer I received was untrue and disappointing. Any doctor can look up your insurance and if its valid by a simple phone call. This staff member simply did not want to do the work (her job) and gain a new patient. Like I said its disappointing, as Im looking for a new dermatologist.

Im not sure what the previous negative reviews are referring to...perhaps another office in Flint? I was seen within 10 minutes of my scheduled appointment time, and it was during a rather busy afternoon! The staff was friendly, professional, and understanding. Dr. Gaffney was just fantastic with my treatment was efficient and spot on. You will not find a better dermatologist office in the Flint area!

Drs. Gaffney and Karlene are gifted physicians, who are extraordinarily knowledgeable, skilled, and personable. They provide and oversee a full range of dermatological services; it is always important and reassuring to know that 5 star medical doctors are in charge who have oversight responsibility for all such professional services. The last time I was in their offices, I had an opportunity to review the degrees and diplomas they were awarded from prestigious universities–very impressive. Their office is complemented by a number of highly skilled professional support staff and an office manager who knows her stuff. The office is sometimes busy, but I believe it is because people have learned that this is the go to place, and they are certainly worth any wait. The community is fortunate to have someone like them---Dr. G and Dr. K are “10s!

This is our second appointment. The first one we waited an hour and a half. So far, we have waited a half hour and still sitting here. He had 2 solutions. If one didnt work, then botox. A 15 yr old should not need botox in this day and age. After waiting in waiting room, then you have to wait another half hour or more in the exam room.

Doctors are great but wait time is ridiculous. Better schedule for the first appointment of the day unless you want to wait for an hour or more.

Doctor Gaffney is a remarkable physician! He and the staff of support personnel are friendly, patient, and exact in their jobs. Doctor Gaffney takes nothing for granted - checks out anything that might potentially be a problem. I am amazed, too, at the fine memory he has. He is a great communicator with his patients - doesnt talk down to them, but rather explains in a laymans language the things we need to know. Yes, sometimes there is a long wait in the waiting room. Just ask them how the schedule is going, and perhaps there will be time for you to have lunch or do an errand. The full waiting room says LOUD AND CLEAR, Doctor Gaffney is an excellent physician and human being. Daryl Kazmier P.S. Read the certificates and diplomas on the walls of his examining rooms. The staff is excellent. Very kind and they work hard to make sure they get you right in. I highly recommend this office.

I was misdiagnosed at this office. I went back two months later and told them they did a poor biopsy. This time Dr. gaffney came in and did the biopsy. It was skin cancer on my lip. The PA wanted me to put acid in a cream on the area! I ended up going to U of M and having Mohs surgery there. Very pleased with the outcome. I would never go back to Dr. Gaffney and the long waiting period in his office.

The office is very good at what they do but there is sooo many flaws. I know when I make an appointment that I will wait in the lobby for about an hour, so always block our two hours for one of these appointments. The np was very good but did not really address me so I had no idea what was going on. The receptionist was also pretty rude. I do like this office because of their knowledge but it is always a confusing experience.

Using my wifes account because i do not have a email thru anyone. Dr. Gaffney and Cyndi and Sandi are very nice and have treated my skin problem which turned out to be an infection. I would highly recommend this office. The front desk and check in are very nice. Ralph K Yarbrough.

Yes you may wait a bit ( not that long) but it is well worth it. I have always been given the opportunity to see the doctor, but have seen the nurse practitioner as well. Always had all issues taken care.

I admit I never got in to see Dr. Gaffney, I couldnt get past having to wait over an hour and left. Im sure having an entire lobby FULL of waiting patients, half of which had been there so long theyd fallen asleep, is a sign that hes a good doctor and worth the wait (I wouldnt know) but Ill take my business to a doctor that values other peoples time.

I am writing a review of Dr. Gaffney as the only ones I see are on the negative side it seems those are the only reviews people take the time to write. Dr. Gaffney is the best Dermatologist I suffered for two years with two other Drs who miss diagnosed my skin problem. Dr. Gaffney took one look at my skin diagnosed it set up a treatment plan and my suffering was over on a month. I do see him on a regular basis now and am still following his treatment plan. Dr. Gaffney and his staff our WONDERFUL I have always been treated with respect and honesty. I too have waited for my appointment but it is worth it here is a hint make your appointment for early morning before they get backed up because all Drs get behind. So please dont let the negative reviews deter you from seeing Dr. Gaffney.

Let me first start off by saying i have never written a review before in my life,with that said i went to dr gaffney office for my sons acne.i did my research and thought what a nice waiting room on the website and read the reviews.So when i showed up for the first visit ,waiting room did not look like the pictures on website and was packed.We went for 6 consultations and every time they were behind for an hour,2 out of the 6 times we didnt even get to see DR Gaffney instead an intern even thou we paid $150 a visit to see DR Gaffney .And now the reason im writting this review is be super carefull to not let the nurse remove any blackheads from your child face , they will charge your ins and call it a surgical procedure ,but of course you dont find out about it till your last visit and bill and if you have a high deductible like myself YOU WILL GET STUCK WITH THE BILL.I WISH I COULD GIVE A 0 STAR RATING TO HOPEFULLY SAVE ONE PERSON OF GOING THRU THE HASSLES I WENT THRU WITH MY LAST BILL THERE.

Awhile back, I was referred to him by my physician about my acne--after the various over the counter topical treatments, scrubs, masks, and any sort of dietary supplement she could provide and birth control I learned I couldnt take due to my depression, she believed Accutane was the only option I had, but that wasnt something she could prescribe for me.I went into Dr. Gaffneys office only a few times; my acne was not worth his condescension and his remarks upon seeing my acne, which made me feel like some horror attraction. Ive seen people with cystic acne, people with worse acne than I have, and he works in dermatology, he should know better than to react that way to a patient.Long story short, my acne issues are not worth the trouble of seeing that man once a month for several months, even if he is a good doctor (I wasnt there long enough to find out).

Well I should have known better than to try this again. walked out after 40 minute wait and being told it would be another 45 minutes yet. I cant imagine how long some folks sit there as the place was packed and the service very slow. find another doctor unless you have nothing else to do with your day.

I feel bad for the employees at his front desk that kept getting yelled at because this doctor double & triple books clients. To me, that is rude & inconsiderate of others time.
