Yesterday I completed paperwork providing GastroHealth with my contact information. Specifically, I stated that the office may contact me via my home phone number or email. I put in writing that I do NOT want to be contacted by my cell phone. Yet today, I am receiving a survey at that very number. I am VERY happy with Dr. Hegab, his treatment and the caring concern he has for his patients. I would give him 5 stars, but since the entire experience must be taken into account, I have to lower the overall score.I have often experienced a lack of concern or respect from the office staff. This continued use of my cell phone is one such example. Patients are asked to complete forms, usually annually, providing the means by which they prefer to be contacted, authorizing with whom their medical information may be shared and acknowledging they have been informed of their HIPAA rights. Since it takes time for patients to go through all these forms each year to sign them or update the information, if necessary (especially if they have multiple physicians), it would be useful if the forms were then reviewed by office staff to make necessary changes to patient medical records before they are simply filed and ticked off as completed for another year. Yesterday was not the first time that I asked GastroHealth, by conversation or a documented request, that my cell phone number not be used as a means of contact. Yet here we still are.One last note, it takes an extremely long time to get an appointment. I started calling in June for an appointment and nothing was available through the end of July, except for the one week I would be out of town for family memorial service. I asked about August, but was told that schedule had not been released yet. By the time I returned from travel, the next segment of schedule had opened and, of course, filled. Therefore, it took me from June to get an appointment on September 30. Thank goodness, I wasnt falling apart.
