Recently had cataract surgery on one eye. The whole process was handled very well and the results could not possibly have been better. I now have fully restored 20/20 vision in my eye that was 20/400 before. it is truly amazing what Dr. Josephson can do. I may have to eventually get the other eye done, and no doubt where I will go for that.

I am a new patient and today was my very first appointment. From the professional receptionist, to the nurse to my phenomenal new ophthalmologist, Dr. Lori Snyder I was blown away at how efficient Eye Specialists and Surgeons Northern Virginia were.This was by far one of my best experiences at a doctors office; Dr. Snyder is one of the most knowledgeable, patient, reassuring and gentle physicians I have ever met. Dr. John Josephson is Excellent surgeon with very good efficient and friendly support staff. I went to him for my cataract surgery. Answers all questions and concerns. Very patient and takes his time with patients. After initial consultation and scheduling the surgery, I had couple concerns and left message for him. Immodestly, he called me and cleared all my concerns and made me comfortable to go through the procedure. Surgery went very well and was able to recover in just a day with out any issues.

Since third grade I have had to wear glasses and/or contacts. I have been to eye doctors all over the US, and after visiting and seeing many doctors I decided that I needed a REAL EYE doctor. Were they real? I needed to find out, so I made an appointment. Before this doctor examined me he open his mouth and said, you have narrow angles we need to fix that before we do anything else, I was really impressed! Well, after having cataracts removed and two new lenses implanted I feel young again! Saw Dr Julia Pierce for my annual exam and she was great! My technician did a nice job explaining the eye drops he was using and tests being done since I was a little anxious. Dr Pierce was very thorough and took the time to answer all my questions - I highly recommend!

Our experience with Dr. Josephson has been superb. He is attentive, responsive and engaging. When we’ve had questions, or concerns, Dr. Josephson has responded promptly – either via email, or phone call -- with detailed answers. We have felt assured in his care. We are both cataract patients with one of us having already had cataract surgery to both eyes with excellent results. We were particularly concerned with having medical appointments, plus surgery during the pandemic, but Dr. Josephson’s staff take every medical precaution to protect us. Dr. John Josephson is very knowledgeable and professional. He has a mild temperament and can answer all questions or concerns you may be having with your vision. I had my first cataract surgery yesterday, with a follow up today. He said everything was perfect, and now I will have cataract surgery on my second eye in two weeks. I’m now close to 70 years old & have worn glasses since a teenager, being near sighted. I chose for the surgery so I as now far sighted & now able to see clearer than ever before. Dr. Josephson uses laser for this type surgery, for which the laser part only is not covered by Medicare, but in my estimation, is well worth the money. All other parts of the procedure is covered by Medicare. I’m delighted that my optician, Dr. Tiffany Lione highly recommended Dr. Josephson. He is a great doctor, and takes the time to make sure you are comfortable with his recommendations.

Dr John Josephson was referred to me by a friend. I just completed the cataract surgery of my first eye to be followed by another surgery on my second eye in two weeks. I just had my second cataract surgery with Dr. Josephson yesterday, and cannot recommend him and his staff highly enough. Scheduling, testing, and surgery came off without a hitch, and most importantly, Im thrilled with the outcome.

From the initial phone call I knew this was the place.Walking in I didnt know what to expect, but I received excellent front desk service, that includes the entire staff that helps you get prepared for the doctor.Now for Dr. Josephson, just terrific all around. No bells or whistles, very straightforward but you gain his compassion and respect. Its not hard to see his expertise and your confidence in him should very high.All the way through my surgeries, I felt nervous but in the right hands and I have absolutely no regrets. Dr. Josephson and everyone here were amazing! From the moment I walked in for my first visit to the post-op, they made everything including the surgery itself, as painless as possible. Speaking of the surgery, the entire ICL procedure took about 15 minutes and I was completely comfortable and relaxed the entire time. For those a bit wary of going through with ICL, theres absolutely nothing to be nervous about. Im still trying to break the habit of adjusting my glasses now that theres nothing to adjust, but it is an amazing feeling and I highly recommend seeing Dr. Josephson for this procedure.

My optometrist referred me to Dr. Josephson when I was 7 months pregnant and experiencing a terrible eye condition that could have very quickly led to blindness. The optometrist said “Dr. Josephson is the best in the country and if anyone can fix this, it’s him.” She was absolutely correct. Dr. Josephson calmly explained to me the gravity of my condition, worked with my other doctors to determine safe procedures due to my pregnancy, and took immediate steps to treat my eye. He saw me in his office every other day for several weeks and checked on me during his off hours to make sure my eye was healthy. His office staff was extremely kind and professional and shared my joy when my eye was healed. He went above and beyond to treat me, and I can absolutely say he is the reason I can see!!!

Dr. Josephson was highly recommended to me and I cannot recommend him highly enough to others. I had first eye cataract removed yesterday afternoon and this morning’s post-op visit showed 20/20 vision. I will have the second eye done on December 3rd. I think everyone goes in a bit apprehensive but the surgery is completely pain free and over in what seems like no time.

My visit today at Eye Specialist and Surgery was fantastic. My appointment was for 9:30am, I signed in at 9:11am 5 min later I was being call to come on back. The staff is wonderful as usual. I had cataract surgery On September 21, 2018. The operating doctor, Dr. John Josephson, is a great doctor. He explained the whole process in detail before the surgery and put me at ease. The process of the surgery itself was so painless during and after the surgery while I’m recovering now. I could feel his sincerity in his practice. He made my hospital visit so casual that I asked for a hug and gave him a hearty hug during my post-op visit. Upon my request, for my own understanding of the process, he explained the technical details, the laser incision, ultrasound and the whole process of cataract extraction he performed. I am very satisfied with his procedure, thanks to Dr. Josephson. I will recommend him to anybody any day. His office personnel took care of me well before and after the surgery. I am very satisfied with his medical practice.

Dr. Josephson took great care and time to ensure my vision was to my satisfaction, tweaking the lens strength between my right eye surgery and left eye surgery to ensure I could see both close and at a distance without glasses. Over one year after the procedures, I continue to visit Dr. Josephson on a regular basis - he and his team at the office in Fairfax are always friendly and deliver a great experience.

Im writing this review on behalf of my father in-law who had eye surgery done with Dr. Josephson.Now let me start by telling you just how much of a skeptic my father in law is with newfangled surgical technology - he began to develop cataracts in both eyes. After doing some research and settling on Dr. Josephson, he insisted on only having one of his eyes done just in case.Well Ill tell you, coming out of the experience he said that Dr. Josephson was incredible - my father being a tenured senior professor of electrical engineering for many decades needs to understand EXACTLY how things work and Dr. Josephson not only laid out how things work in great detail with the equipment, the surgery and the various types of lens replacements, he also walked him through all of the options he had on the table and the pros and cons of each. Once they settled on the perfect lens for my father in-law, they set a time for the surgery and it went as smoothly as is possible.Dr. Josephsons bedside manner was even better than his transparency and provision of information. Another funny story: Both dr. Josephson and myself are named John - well Dr. Josephson gave my father in-law a call following up after the surgery and was so genuine in concern for my father in-law (and apparently sounds much like me on the phone) that he thought it was me, and had a 15 minute conversation with Dr. Josephson before he realized it was his doctor. While he was incredibly embarrassed, he couldnt believe how genuinely interested Dr. Josephson was in his well being.The result of the surgery was incredible returning perfect, natural sight, enough that my father in law has gone back to night driving and the like with completely confidence and thats with just one eye!It goes without saying that the father in-law is planning on getting the other eye done the first chance he gets!In short, you wont find a better eye doctor/surgeon, not just in this area. Period.

The staff was very warm and welcoming. I felt my medical problems were something that should not wait, and they got me right in. The office is very clean and pleasant. Dr. Josephson was kind. He found the problem that two other doctors had missed. He was clear in his explanation of the problem and immediately made a referral to the best suited ophthalmologist for my needs. I definitely will continue coming to him for my care. I found him by talking with another patient of his - a friend strongly recommended him as a compassionate and highly skilled surgeon. Now I can recommend him to you!

Dr. Josephson is excellence personified. I had never even worn glasses and was pretty concerned when I woke with eye pain and blurry vision. After trying a local eye center (very nice people) I was directed to Dr. Josephson who stayed late on a Friday to see me immediately. Dr. Josephson recommended surgery which terrified me but after doing a TON of research and talking to others, I found there is no better cornea specialist in NoVA. Dr. J fit me into his busy surgery schedule by coming in early to work on my eye, answered email questions over the weekend, and was very straight-forward on what to expect in during recovery. I appreciated the candor and knowing what to expect. The surgery itself was fine, and despite initial pain I was prepared for, I am recovering really well. Dr. Josephson is not only an expert in his field, he really listens, acts like you are his only patient, and is very thorough. I wish all doctors like this. Recommend unequivocally for difficult and complex cases.

Dr. John Josephson did my second cataract surgery on my right eye. Dr. Josephson did an amazing work; he followed up after surgery with a personal phone call to check on me, he saw me the following morning at his clinic, and saw me again after a week to make sure everything was okay and was comfortable. I felt the difference after he operated on both eyes. Also, my wife did a cataract surgery on her left eye and is planning to have Dr. Josephson operate on the right eye as well. I am so grateful to Dr. Josephson and his staff for a job professionally and well done. May God bless him and his family.

Everyone was very friendly and took time to explain the procedure and what to expect. Also, doctor took time to review the results and explained in detail. The office space is very clean. Overall, the service was very good.
