When you go under general anesthesia over twenty times in one calendar year, deal with never ending run ins with sepsis and urosepsis, and in the past six months alone had both your right AND left kidneys autotransplanted reviewing doctors could easily become a full time job. I’ve had good doctors, bad doctors, and everything in between, but GREAT is not a term I throw around lightly. It’s amazing how ONE person can completely change your mind about a hospital. Dr.Hutzel is confident, kind, and brilliant to say the least. He is truly a wonderful person and an even better doctor. As a 34 year old Mom of three under seven any moment away from my children is hell, and you could tell he knew that without me saying a single word. His rapport, calming nature, and above all humble attitude was refreshing to say the least! He was genuinely concerned and you could tell that he had answer for anything you would throw his way! UPMC Hamot you just won me over. My transplant team may be at the Cleveland Clinic but my home is in Erie and I no longer fear waiting rooms if this is the way I will be treated as a patient. My husband and I thought Dr. Hutzel was an excellent family practitioner and we were sorry we had to leave his practice when we moved out of town. He was efficient, knowledgeable, understanding and thought his staff was great.
