Dr. Freeman replaced my left hip 5 years ago with wonderful results, so when I began having trouble with my right hip, I did not hesitate going to see him again. I had my surgery 13 days ago and today had my follow-up appt to have the staples removed. I have been walking with only a cane since day 4. Physical home therapy was a breeze and I have had minimal to no pain throughout this entire process. Dr. Carl Freeman recently performed a total hip replacement on me. It was my first surgery and I did not know what to expect. The experience turned out to be a little to no pain encounter from recovery room to rehabilitation. I also discovered the technique used is one of the best based on incision size and location. The pre-op education and bedside manner was also excellent. I am now experiencing a rapid recovery that eliminated the pain and discomfort prior to surgery. Dr. Freeman performed a direct anterior approach total hip replacement on my right hip on May 7. Two weeks later Im walking around the block with the aid of a simple 4 wheel walker, am independent in my home and have only minor pain without medication. This progress exceeds my most optimistic expectations. Dr. Freeman is obviously a very skilled surgeon but I would also like to commend his nurses and support staff at JOI and Baptist Hospital. I felt well supported in pre and post-operative appointments and in my very short hospital stay. My surgery was originally scheduled for late March but had to be postponed due to the CoViD epidemic. Dr. Freemans scheduler, Shirley Shevada, contacted me several times during the delay to keep me posted on the situation and scheduled me promptly when surgeries resumed. I wont go into more detail about my experience except to say this: I am quite old; and was concerned that such surgery was inappropriate for my age. If you are suffering from joint or other orthopedic pain and have no other very major health issues, youre never too old for restorative surgery in the hands of Dr. Freeman and his team.
