I was so happy with my visit. The MA made an amazing impression. I wish I remembered her name but she was so kind, thoughtful and professional and made me feel so comfortable- she made such a positive impact on the visit. Dr. Riley was also, very patient, kind, professional and really listened to my me. I feel very confident in her care. The office is very busy and the front office staff do a great job with managing it all. I’m so thankful to be a patient here and glad many other people are getting care from wonderful professionals!

Being new to the Encinitas area, I was referred to West Dermatology Encinitas by my primary care doctor for a skin check. It was easy to make an appointment, and fill out the paperwork online beforehand. I was happy with the office visit as well. There was not a long wait, the staff was friendly and efficient, and safe Covid protocols were in place. Dr. Jessica Riley was easy to talk to, did a thorough exam, and answered questions /prescribed medicines about other issues as well. I will definitely go back.

I have been going to West Dermatology for several years now and have always been treated to a thorough and pleasant exam by Dr. Gladsjo. I am an older native San Diegan and always sunburned in the summer months when I was younger. As such, I have several spots and bumps on my arms, neck and face that require attention. I am well taken care of by the doctors and staff at West Dermatology.

Ive had two experiences with Gary, and both were phenomenal. He is an exceptional diagnostician as well as practioner. He talks about what is going to happen and does his best to make procedures pain free. Having spent my career in medical administration, I have an insiders appreciation for an exceptional medical practioner, of which Gary is most certainly. Further, the front office and nursing staff are both polite and efficient, again taking the time to make sure procedures are understood and solicite questions.

As a 38-year-old guy I definitely want to take care of my skin and Ive been coming here for a few years now for random keloids I get and cysts just because of my genetics. The staff here and the doctors always listen to you very well, quickly treat you and also send you off with whatever medication to help so youre not making constant trips back and forth to the doctors office. Ive never had a problem here and I love coming here and Im not a big visit the doctors type of guy.

I first came to see Gary Vanetsky, PA after having developed some severe and persistent adult cystic acne being a frontline healthcare worker and due to having to wear the N95 mask for 12-13 hr/day. I was embarrassed and becoming depressed over my condition, which was becoming worse than that of a teenager. He treated me with a level of respect and kindness which I did not expect having already been to a couple of other providers and having not that of a great experience with either one. Fast forward now 2 months, my acne is now almost completely gone. PA Gary Vanetsky not only listens to his his patients, he hears their concerns, and he truly cares about their well-being. Socially distanced waiting room, masks required. Nice staff. My only complaint is communication.They found a suspicious mole, and removed it last year. I heard nothing about the pathology, so assumed no news is good news. WRONG. This year, they mentioned the disgnosis in passing, and it was the first Id heard of it. Everybody probably assumed someone else had told me. Guess I should have asked. Now they want to see me more often. If it was so important, I have to question why they didnt recommend that a year ago. Maybe they were being cautious about visits at the beginning of the pandemic.

First time going to West Dermatology a few weeks ago. The staff is super friendly! Dr. Riley was so warm, professional, very thorough and knowledgeable. It was a great experience! She took her time with my skin check and explained everything about the topical Chemo creme I needed to use.Today I called the office because I was concerned I was having a reaction to the cream I was using. The office got me right in and I saw Gary. Gary is a breath of fresh air! He took his time and assessed the issue and let me know what I needed to do to remedy then issue.I feel very fortunate that I found West Dermatology! I highly recommend them!!!

I have a bi-annual body scan with P.A. Gary Vanetsky at West Dermatology in Encinitas and was happy to be seen yesterday in person during the COVID-19 pandemic, where the necessary guidelines were observed by this medical facility. As usual (and I have been going to West Dermatology for at least 13 years), staff members were very efficient. Gary listened well to my concerns, examined my body thoroughly, was very pleasant and professional, went above and beyond to prescribe affordable medications, and made me grateful he is on my medical team.

I see Dr. Riley and Gary Vanetsky at this location and it’s always such a wonderful experience. Susan, the office manager, Janet and the entire office staff is always so welcoming, and friendly. I’ve been going to West Coast Dermatology for years for bi-annual skin cancer screening. The team is great. Gary Vanetsky, PA is my favorite.

This is not directed to the doctor as Gary was excellent in his explanation and diagnosis. This is directed to the staff as the follow up was unprofessional. After the first appointment, I received no follow up information. No update on medication or instructions after I was told I would receive information. I tried calling 3 times to find out what was happening and they did not help whatsoever. Its a shame as I was excited for treatments but received no follow up at all. Just my experience.

My visit yesterday during Covid was handled with the utmost caution. Temperature, hand sanitizers available everyone wearing masks only two people in the reception at a time. Dr Gary was his usual professional self.The nurse was explaining howMuch they clean after each patient👍🏼.Have been a patient for years....thank you everyone for making me feelComfortable during this difficult time.

I’d found a primary care doctor but I hadn’t taken the time to find a dermatologist since I moved here from SF almost a year ago. So when I had what felt like an urgent and unexpected need to see a dermatologist, I started making calls hoping to get a same day appt with someone with a stellar reputation. After making a number of calls, I was led to West Dermatology and Gary Vanetsky, PA. Even though he was completely booked for the day (not surprising, he has over fifteen hundred reviews with a 4.9 rating!), Gary agreed to see me. He was knowledgeable and extremely helpful and WD’s staff made me feel like a valued patient from the moment I walked into the office. I am so grateful to everyone I dealt with and especially to the person who took my call, listened to my need, and went the extra mile it took to find a way to squeeze me in. I feel very lucky that, when in a pinch, I found my way to West Dermatology, Gary Vanetsky, and a very professional and compassionate staff.

While 2,500 miles from home I needed to address a couple skin issues. My daughter set up an appointment for a complete body check. Comprehensive exam, biopsy, a few spot treatments, and now peace of mind for another six months. Some of the nicest medical personnel you’ll ever encounter!

My experience at West Dermatology has been excellent. Dr. Riley is professional, knowledgeable and empathetic and I’ve gotten thorough and effective treatment from her and the staff.My only criticism is that there seems to be a disconnect between the discussions I have with the doctor and the follow-up. After each appointment I’ve had to make sure to ask about actually getting the treatments we’ve discussed. The first time I left and had to call back and talk with several people to figure out the status of prescriptions. I’ve mentioned this directly, but it’s still an issue. I hope they figure out a better way to communicate between medical and administrative staff so that the patient isn’t responsible for following up on everything and the experience is a little smoother.Still, overall I highly recommend them!

Dr Riley is great. She did minor skin surgery with no complications and very minimal scarring in the hard to hide chest area. Easy to make appointments and excellent follow ups.

Let me start by saying Dr Vanetsky is fabulous. His office staff, on the other hand, need training and/or to be reminding about the importance of customer srvc and being the “face of the business”. I could go into detail but this review would be too lengthy. I’ve also had to wait an unreasonable long time to be helped on the phone lines. Typically I just hang up and call back several times before being helped. There needs to be a better system in place or VM if too many calls on hold, or they should take a name and nmbr quickly to return the call instead of being placed on hold for far too long!
