I do not have enough kind words to say about this facility and the amazing staff that works there. My grandfather spend several months at Lorien recovering from a stroke as a result of cancer. The nursing staff was beyond kind and compassionate. Everyone treated my grandfather with dignity and respect. They went above and beyond to make sure my grandfather felt at home the best they could while he was there. The facility was clean and we always felt welcomed when visiting our grandfather. We are forever grateful for the entire staff at Lorien!

I have had nothing but EXCEPTIONAL service with Encore at Turf Valley. Encore is without a doubt the cleanest nursing/ assisted living place I have seen and has the friendliest staff I have encountered. Everyone smiles, says hello and ask if they can helpyou! Carrie , in social work, has gone above and beyond her job duties to help me with my father. I feel this place treats you like family. It’s hard to find a place where you feel comfortable leaving your loved one and this place topped the charts for me! I highly recommend!!

I wish I could give this facility a 0. I also want to add that we are not demanding people, or like to complain for no reason. I am writing in response to the Rehab Unit, I can’t speak on behalf of the assisted living or nursing home facilities.My mom was brought here to recover after surgery. Her room was aesthetically very nice and comforting. However, she did have a roommate that blasted the tv from early in the morning, til late at night. The roommate was on her phone constantly and yelling at the person on the other line. How is anyone supposed to heal and get any rest under those conditions?No one explained to her how the menu worked. My mom was served food without given any options. She was so dissatisfied with the food she was given. Hospital food was more appetizing than what she was served at Encore.The staff here is not able to provide adequate medical attention. She would push the nurse button for help, and someone would show up 30 minutes later. At one point, my mom was getting her catheter replaced and the 2 nurses were arguing in front of her in their native language about what to do! Communication was terrible and there was difficulty with nurses understanding what my mom needed. Their English was not well enough. My mom and I are both English teachers so we are extremely patient and understanding of English Language Learners. However, in a medical field, communication is extremely important.My mom begged Encore to send her to the hospital, which I’m glad she did. She said if she had stayed there, she would have died. The doctor (Dr. Gupta) only came and visited once, very shortly. The day after my mom arrived to the facility, things started going downhill.Unfortunately, these facilities are just not able to provide professional, necessary attention. I thought Encore would be different from other rehab places because it had 5 stars. We were proven wrong. This facility is also a sub acute rehabilitation center. Something we learned through experience. 20 minutes of physical therapy a day for someone who has been bed ridden for 2 weeks is unacceptable. It felt like she was there to sit and watch tv with a little bit of exercise. The point of her being there is to recover and get back on her feet. She was not there as a nursing home resident.Do your research before you place a loved one in a facility!!!! I can’t stress this enough!!

My grandmother is a resident at Encore and I have had a way better experience with them than the last home my grandmother was at. The communication has been A1 and my grandmother has told me that she really loves it. I can’t thank them enough for making her feel comfortable.

Melissa Simpson is the best of the best I’d you ask me! She goes above and beyond for the residents and their families as well as being the glue that keeps the place together. She is amazing at her job and deserves no less than the best because of her compassion and dedication throughout the years. 10/10 stars for Melissa.

I have worked at Encore for over 10 years. Very positive work atmosphere, friendly staff, team oriented and beautiful and clean building. I also had a family member that was a resident at Encore, very caring and nurturing staff. My family was very grateful to have her there.

Do not send your loved ones here!!! Due to COVID we could only due a virtual tour. Which does nothing. We were able to tour other places in town in person.We had to pay first and last months rent along with a hefty community charge. The first night there my father had an accident in bed, he notified staff,no one came to clean him up until the morning. My father also had random people just walking into his apartment. They were short staffed, which is no excuse. My father wanted out after 2 days….they would not refund a dime of our money, it was over $14,000!!! Stay away from this place!!!!!

My aunt was a resident at Encore for rehab. The communication was excellent. She received excellent therapy services. My family felt comforted that she was being cared for there. The staff was very friendly and supportive.

Our loved one was at Encore for almost four weeks for rehab after a hip break. It was a horrific experience and thats being kind. Visits were still not allowed and getting through to someone to try and get updates or check on care was nearly impossible. Due to our loved ones dementia, he couldnt advocate for himself or communicate with us. When you could reach someone, after multiple attempts or escalating, the staff was always nice. However, information was haphazard and changed irradicably, safety precautions were missed (thus resulting in new hip dislocating and trip to ER), follow-through was lacking and stories changed when gaps in care were questioned.Our loved one left the facility with more medical issues than he entered with and he made ZERO progress with PT rehabilitation. We had our loved one go to a different rehab facility after Encore and he made more PT rehabilitation progress in a little over a week then he made in a month at Encore. We also had to manage through PTSD from how he was treated/handled at Encore.It was so bad that the Administrator of the facility questioned why they were being asked to run a simple stool test to check on a medical concern when he was just there for a hip break. I was told they were doing me a favor. Clearly overall care and well-being of their patients is not their priority. The administrator, Lou, was rude, condescending and abrasive. His behavior was quite shocking.We were beyond disappointed with the rehabilitation and nursing care and quickly learned that the 5-Star Medicare rating really doesnt represent reality. If your loved one cannot 100% advocate for his/herself and fight for proper rehabilitation and nursing care, it is best to look elsewhere.

Today I was threatened by Lou Grimmel Jr.In short, if I didn’t take a negative review (that wasn’t mine) down. I would not get the refund my family was entitled to. I requested $2500 (discounted community fees) after my father left after 3 WEEKS! The main (not the only) reason he left:A man entered my dads apt and grabbed him and Lou said it didn’t happen. His investigation was biased and he failed to speak to witnesses present from our side. He stated “I spoke w my team members, and what you said happened never happened.” Although, it was communicated to me the man was removed from the facility… if it didn’t happen why was the man removed? 🤔 He raised his voice and began “man-splaining” my contract to me. Stating “it sounds like you don’t UNDERSTAND the contract you signed, do you need me to break it down for you,”… in a loud, condescending tone. :::I informed him of his contract violation, which was …keeping my dad safe!I stated I did not appreciate his tone or level of disrespect. He kept arguing with me stating “I clearly don’t get it.” I am over the threats and mistreatment of customers. We paid for services and in the end they took our money without empathy or understanding and denied the incident that occurred.I will stand by any negative review. I will also post the detailed eye witness account that Lou failed to acknowledge.

My dad was there a few months ago for rehab and I was nervous about sending him into a facility, however the staff was very nice and attentive to his needs. I was very pleased.

This is a very clean facility that I visited and I met this wonderful kind caring young lady who took time to ask could she assist me and ask did T need any help or did I have any questions. Normally since pre COVID people always seem to busy to see if you need any assistance. I wanted to personally thank Melissa Shifflet for her kindness and thoughtfulness. At times such as these we need more people like Melissa. Thank you

My mom was in the rehab facility for a few weeks. The communication is terrible when I would call I would have to leave a message on a voice mail and ask for a call back and I still haven’t received a call back. There is poor communication I’m suppose to pick my mom up and this is the night before and I still don’t know what time When my mom was feeling pain from her physical therapy I tried to call them and again I was told the lady on the phone was a rehab nurse when I fact they don’t have a rehab nurse. Again no communication When you bring food for the patient you are expected to leave it for 24 hrs before they can have it so don’t take hot food and nothing that will be soggy cause 24 hrs is a long time on the porch where everyone walks in and out. How clean and safe can that be

During the pandemic my mother had a fall living at Encore... after her rehab at Encore she moved in with me and my family ... they released her with staples in her hip... 4 weeks after hip surgery.. they had no idea when they released her... she was a resident in assisted living for over 5 years... within a week of her living with me and having in home caregivers I realized she had not had an actual shower with water showering on her body in at least 4 years... I also realized she did not brush her teeth morning and night and perhaps never... this place is appalling... the worst mistake of my life placing my mother in their care and spending an outrageous amount of money for the lack of care.... do not send your loved ones there...please.... they may seem nice and friendly but they lack in basic hygiene and care ...

Encore at Turf Valley has been wonderful for mother! She receives tremendous care and the activitieskeep her busy. Some of the activities include: bingo, musical entertainment, bridge, trivia, exercise and happy hour!She really enjoys the food! They also have outpatient therapy in the building that she goes to a couple days a week.Best decision I ever made!!

Encore has been the best fit for my father! The venue is clean, the staff is great and he loves every day more than the last! Not to mention he has built strong relationships with so many other residents. Best decision the family made! We are extremely happy with Encore at Turf Valley!

Our experience has been very positive at Encore . Our mother has been to the rehab center twice and the therapists were professional and caring. Many therapists and aides were still there during her second visit even though it was two years later. She recently moved to assisted living at Encore and we have been very pleased with virtually every aspect. She has a good relationship with most of the aides and the nurses; the food service and the daily recreational activities are outstanding. From our perspective, she is well taken care of and we feel she is in a safe, healthy environment. We are very pleased with her medical care. The nurses are attentive and make sure she takes her meds on time. Mom had a minor, additional medical problem which required daily attention. The doctor and the staff have been quite attentive to this problem and keep a careful eye on all her medical needs. Communications with the staff have been very good given that we are out of town often and, as a result, we no longer worry constantly about her. Every question and issue have been adequately addressed. Most of all, she has been treated with respect and we are appreciative of the kindness of all the staff.

I had an interview at Encore for job opportunity at their nursing department. I met the recruiter, very nice and professional. I also met with the DON, and she was friendly and professional. I felt very comfortable during the interview. The nursing interview questions were right on-point. She really knows her stuff. After the interview, I met the HR personnel and they seem to have great benefits. I hope to join their nursing team at Encore.🤞🏽

Encore Turf Valley is a wonderful Assisted Living and/or Rehabilitation facility. The staff are dedicated professionals that care about each resident or person in their care. They provide a nurturing and caring place for their residents and rehabilitation clients. I wish I could give them 10 stars for all that they do on a daily basis.

My Dad has been at Encore for several years. When he moved in he was still walking unassisted and now he is confined to bed. The nursing staff has always taken incredible care of him and shows him love and patience. They call me with any concerns and are happy to fill me in whenever I stop in. They decorate beautifully for every season and have a variety of activities and entertainment. Its like a stationary cruise ship. Having the PT and OT onsite has been very beneficial as well. The shuttle has come in handy many times.

My Mom has been at the nursing home portion of the facility since September 2018. Her care has been very good and the staff has been very attentive and caring. Also, I am always kept informed of any and everything that is going on with her. They do not hesitate to call me to let me know of any changes that take place. Overall, my mind has been put at ease since moms admittance.

Encore at Turf Valley is a beautiful community with caring and attentive staff. What stands out most to me is the variety of activities going on every single day, for residents with all different need levels. The activities department lead by Mark Whitehead is booming with creativity and outside-the-box ideas. The long-term care residents often join assisted living residents and short-term rehab patients for concerts, themed educational classes, exercise classes, holiday parties, games - you name it! Ive also seen direct care staff stop by just to greet a resident, give a hug or a compliment, or just say hi. From my experience, these are above and beyond moments. From what I have observed over the last 7+ years, Encore is one of the very nicest care communities Ive seen.

Working here I get to see the many awesome ways we help our residents achieve a better life each and every day. From the rehab department to nursing, environmental services to dining, each plays a part in making each day special. I have worked in various communities over the last fifteen years and I can honestly say this is the best team and environment I have been a part of.

My father has been at Encore at Turf Valley for four months and we have nothing but great things to say about his experience. Everyone you meet or see in passing always says hello and my family has observed kindness and compassion when any caregiver is speaking to a resident. More importantly, Encore has many services and levels of care available to a resident and with a dad who is 92, that benefit is so important to us. Encore is always clean and beautifully decorated. My dad is happy there, and we know he is well cared for, giving us peace of mind!

Encore at Turf Valley couldn’t have taken better care of my loved one. Its a great facility, everyone is so friendly and help out with everything you need. Its a spotless facility with fantastic activities!

The admissions team made the transition effortless! Eased all our concerns and fears. The nursing staff provides the upmost care- truly taking consideration my moms daily needs.

My mother had a very positive experience for the 17 months she lived in assisted living at Encore at Turf Valley. She enjoyed the food and the activities and created many friendships with the staff and other residents. During her last days (she passed away peacefully at age 95) many of her friends and staff members came to visit and give her their loving comments. Thanks to everyone there for making a difference in our family’s lives.

My 80 year old father has memory problems and moved to Encore at Turf Valley last year. I visit with him two or three times a week and the assisted living care he receives has been very helpful. Almost every visit, my father talks about how thankful he is to be living there. He enjoys his meals in the dining room, attending music performances (he likes to sing along), and bingo! He adjusted quickly to living at Encore and we have peace of mind knowing that he is well cared for and safe. One of his biggest challenges was remembering to take his daily medicines, which is now handled by the Encore staff. It is a good feeling to know that Encore will be able to assist him as his needs grow.

Encore Turf Valley has an incredible staff! They are extremely welcoming and always helpful! Along with the wonderful staff, the environment at Encore is absolutely stunning. The grounds are pristine and each building is decorated beautifully!

My mother fell on 12/13/18 and fractured her hip. She was admitted to Encored at Turf Valley on 12/17/18 until 1/11/19.. We could not have had a better experience. From the food to the nurses, aids, PT, OT and entertainment. Yes I said entertainment. They have activities going all the time. They have people come in to sing and play music to games and movies. Foremost, It is very clean! Thank you Encore!

It’s the people who make the difference. The administrative staff at Encore are knowledgeable, helpful and efficient; nursing and aide staff are caring, compassionate and competent; therapists are skilled, patient and motivating; support staff are always polite, friendly and efficient; activities staff keep residents busy. Encore is clean facility with high standards. I trusted Encore with my mom’s care from rehab to assisted living to hospice. I couldn’t have chosen a better home for her.

What a beautiful building! The courtyard is our favorite spot, it’s so convenient and peaceful. The staff is always so friendly and helpful!

I cant say enough great things about Encore at Turf Valley and their staff! My mom was was in need of a nursing facility/rehab near me in Maryland, but my mom was in Indiana. An administrator at Encore Hannah, worked with the hospital in Indiana to find a space for my mom within a few days. Everyday I visited, my mom raved about the staff, the facility and the food. My mom made tremendous strides in her walking and overall health the 2 1/2 weeks she was at Encore. Thanks Encore to everyone that took such great care of my mom!!!!

The energy is real! The staff is awesome and friendly, As, soon as you walk in the building it’s so festive. Well decorated might I add. The building is beyond clean and pet friendly plus order free. My family members has been advised to send me there, For all rehab and or LTC if I become disable or in need of special assistance. Kudos to the Rehab department, one word and that is phenomenal.Fanstatic job Encore and staff members.

My grandmother has never had such good care. It’s a beautiful community and I would recommend anyone here.

My elderly father was here for about 3 weeks after a hospitalization for pneumonia. He requires 24/7 oxygen and a walker to be mobile. We paid $80/night extra for him to have a private room, otherwise the rooms are shared.Pros:-the PT, OT, and speech/language staff were great - they worked with him every weekday and the PT also worked with him once on the weekends-there are activities such as Bingo, music performers, movies, religious activities, specialty programs (such as D-Day group talks)-The private room was large with a huge double window, tv, motorized bed, large private bath with shower-walkers and wheelchairs were available and left in the room for use of occupant-staff is friendly and tries to accommodate needs of patient (although understaffed at times)-Special thanks to Danielle, Sam, `Vito, John, and Larzy for their extra special attention to their patients.-There is an outdoor porch area in the front and a central courtyard for those patients who can move outside their rooms.-You can register your dog to visit (show copies of shots and a pic)Cons:-Biggest complaint is that the nursing crew seems understaffed, especially on the weekends. My father often hit the “red” button for assistance to go to the bathroom and nobody came for 15-20 minutes or more. He sometimes got up by himself to go to the bathroom because he could wait no longer. This is especially true on the weekends.-My father required oxygen 24/7 and was not always provided with a sufficient portable oxygen tank/machine for transportation outside his room. I asked the nurse to have the tank refilled and it sat there for 2 days (unfilled) until it finally disappeared. Excuses I heard were “There is only one staff member who can refill the tank and he/she isn’t here right now” or “only the PT can provide the portable tanks and they’ve all gone home”. This left my father “tied” to his room, unable to participate in activities without a portable unit.-The portable oxygen machines used here do not last very long - they are heavy and the indicators do not always work to tell you how much oxygen is left. It may be worthwhile for the facility to invest in units that are electrically recharged (such as the Inogen units) so that anyone can recharge them.-The communication by the social worker to order a medicare provided walker was confusing - she could provide no picture or description of the walker. (When my Mom was at Copperidge, a few years back, they provided an exact picture and description of the walker before ordering for her). After several emails back and forth, it was still unclear what was being ordered for him, so I just ended up ordering a walker myself from Amazon.-At our first group meeting, I asked for my father to be seen by a podiatrist for a sore on his foot - that never happened.

The staff at Encore are excellent and extremely professional. My family member who is currently living at Encore has expressed the upmost satisfaction in regards to service, care, and treatment. I would recommend them to anyone.
