It’s so nice to have Mom close by. I am only 5 minutes away. She has been a resident since last October. Now she I settled and unpacked in her cozy little cottage. The staff is warm and friendly. The weekly newsletter keeps me informed. I sleep much better knowing she is safe and warm. Great place so far.

My Father just recently moved out of Heartlands Village at Ellicott City. I can tell you we are very sad to leave. Daddy spent 7 wonderful years in the Enhanced Independent Living community and made wonderful friends and lasting memories of good times. Recently, he had to move due to effects of COVID-19 and he will no longer be able to live independently. I thank Lisa Hines for listening to me share memories and allowing me to emotionally prepare for the separation. She has a kind heart. I will be forever grateful for the time and attention and the life that my Father lived at the Heartlands. We will come and visit when we can!

We moved our parents to Heartlands of Ellicott city six years ago and this was one of the best decisions we ever made. Unfortunately my father passed away a year later but they allowed him to pass with dignity there.My mother continues to be a resident at Heartlands and the care that she receives is extraordinary and stellar.The love and encouragement and emotional support that she receives from all the staff is beyond our wildest dreams.Everyone has always been so helpful to us and understanding of of any situation that might occur.We highly recommend this facility for anyone that might be considering an assisted living for their loved one.

Having several medical issues, I want to live in an environment that provides safety and security. I find those things at the Heartlands Village at Ellicott City. Our Executive Director is very involved with the residents and tries to provide as much assistance to us as possible. He has been highly effective in keeping us safe from COVID-19. My family and I are very appreciative of this. I have only had a few questions for him about various matters and he is always prompt in his responses to me. He tries to be available to all of us as much as possible.The staff is remarkable in that they are very, very pleasant and attentive to the needs of the residents. It is such a pleasure to pass them in the hallway and always be greeted with a smile. They are happy to assist us with any issues.The residents are also very special. Again, it is a pleasure to see them too during the day and be greeted with pleasantries that come from the heart. We truly are a loving and caring family here.The staff tries hard to provide entertainment for the residents. We have many activities available to us ~ we just pick and choose the ones we would like to be involved in. My favorite? Daily Catholic Mass in our Chapel. It is very rewarding to attend. I always feel blessed that I can be a part of it.The only issue I have living here, and which I feel needs improvement, is the preparation of the food. The quality of the food is very good and always fresh ~ it just doesnt taste as it should. I dont look forward to mealtime and often prepare them in my own apartment. The kitchen and dining room staff work very hard though and are very pleasant and attentive.It is a wonderful place to live. Maybe not perfect, but then, which are?

The staff really makes the residents at Heartlands feel like they are home. The staff mingle and get to know the residents. They make us feel very welcomed and check on us even when we are not staying at Heartlands. During the Covid-19 outbreak, I stayed with my daughter. They still checked on me and made me feel very special on my return. The residents are very nice and always eager to make new friends!

My parents moved in at the height of the first wave of the pandemic and everyone was very welcoming and communicative in helping my parents transition from a single-family home to independent living. Hospitality is amazing, the campus is spacious, beautiful and green, and my parents love it there! They have also taken an extraordinary amount of care during the Covid crisis and we receive regular correspondence keeping us informed on what they are doing to keep all the residents safe.Thank you!

I moved my mother to Heartlands from Florida when she was 91. There was an adjustment period but because the staff is very responsive to, and interested in, their residents, my mothers transition was a great success. She thrives.The HeartLands location is excellent; it is easy to go shopping and easy to get items delivered. The housekeeping and maintenance departments are well managed. Foodservice is more of a challenge. Although the cooks dont always hit the mark, the servers are wonderful and go out of their way to make things better if a resident isnt happy with a meal. The Wellness Center staff is excellent and Administration highly competent. All in all, it is a good place for Mom. I have recommended a 92 year old widower friend move there - I think living at HeartLands would give him a new lease on life.

My mother, at the tender age of 92, moved to the Independent living apartments at Heartlands. She has thrived at Heartlands for this past three years. We have been dazzled by the excellent service and more importantly, genuine concern for all residents of Heartlands. The longevity of staff is a testament to management of this organization. I could not be more thankful for this patient, kind and compassionate place.

My Mom is an assisted living resident. Although I live hundreds of miles away, the daily feedback I get from her is extremely heart warming, as is the feedback from my sister who lives nearby and is fortunate enough to visit. It is tough not being able to be with mom, but I could not be more gratefull for the sensitive, heartwarming and competent care she receives at Heartlands. I rest easy knowing she is in good hands.

We moved my parents from Illinois February 2020 and then selected Heartlands as their new home. Who knew what was to come, but the staff at Heartlands has been wonderful keeping everyone safe and informed. My parents love their apartment and all the staff. We couldn’t be happier with this decision!

I have always been pleased with how well they take care of the residents... Add in COVID, and i am even happier with how they kept my mom safe and sound when I couldnt be there. I spoke with Clinton on multiple occasions and I appreciated the direct contact.

My mother is a resident at the Heartlands. From the day she moved in, I have remained impressed. Before COVID, there were many activities and events and the staff were always so inclusive of the residents. I always know that they will be there to help with whatever my mom needs. Since COVID, they have worked very hard to keep the residents happy and positive even through quarantine and isolation. They bring happy hour drinks, encourage zoom activities and, most importantly, they maintain transparency with the residents and their families. I highly recommend the Heartlands!!

My father entered assisted living about a month ago. We couldn’t be happier. He often says, “this is a first rate establishment!” The staff is caring and treat the residents with respect. The wellness center coordinates his medical and therapy needs —most of which can be met on site and they transport him to specialists. The professional waitstaff make him feel as though he were dining in a fine restaurant every night. He has recently started using a wheelchair and needs more help than he is used to needing, but the portable paging device makes it very easy to summon an aid. The kind aids encourage him to call them even more than he does. They often have live musical entertainment as well as parties and other social activities. The facility is very welcoming to visiting family and friends. Our whole family had Christmas dinner there —they even have a high chair. This facility is well suited for a man for whom dignity and independence are very important —yet who needs a significant amount of help. I am so happy and relieved that he likes his new place so much.

Heartlands has been a most wonderful home for my mother and late father. The staff is loving and compassionate and takes exceptional care of my mother. She always says “this is her home.”

I am extremely thankful for how my parents have been cared for here. The staff has taken the time to develop personal relationships with them and accommodate their individual needs.

We’ve all been going through too many traumas since the beginning of 2020. Thank God, my mother was being cared for in a very safe and caring facility. I know it’s been difficult for the residents, but the majority of residents and staff were able to escape Covid 19. I have faith that as the virus begins to increase, Heartlands will deal with this in a very safe manner. I cannot day enough good things about Clinton and Lisa as they helped us so much through my Dad’s serious illness and subsequent move to assisted living. They were always there for us and went out of their way to make things easier for Dad and us. We will always be grateful to them.

I was prompted to review this facility by an email that I received from Michael Paris, a Five-Star Sales and Marketing Director.I would not recommend Heartlands to anyone with a family member who is medically fragile, a fall risk, or who is expected to decline in function.My late husband was a Heartlands resident from approximately 2011-2013. When he fell repeatedly (due to his deteriorating neurological condition) and was hospitalized, I went to the nursing supervisor to ask her if her staff would be able to safely care for my husband or if he should be discharged directly to a nursing home. She assured me that Heartlands would absolutely be able to continue to care for my husband and promised to let me know if the situation were to change.Less than 72 hours after returning to Heartlands, my husband fell again. He sustained several fractures, required another hospitalization and suffered considerable pain.I believe that this nursing supervisor was yielding to corporate pressure to retain paying residents even in circumstances where Heartlands could not provide safe and adequate levels of care for impaired residents. My guess is that the situation has not changed.Heartlands may be viable choice for some prospective residents. The facility is attractive, the rooms are large and well-appointed, the food is reasonably palatable, and the location is convenient to both Baltimore and I-70. As in every facility, some staff members are caring and responsive, while others are less so.

Heartlands Village is an outstanding place for your loved one. I have experience with many assisted livings, and find this has to be one of the best! The staff is courteous and friendly every time I come by. They also take pride in caring for the residents at a very high level. They take pride in offering the best care for the residents and they fulfill what they offer! They offer many groups/activities and I often see them bringing smiles to many faces. All of the care and services they offer to the residents are all top notch and very professional. This is a great place and the location cant be beat. I would highly recommend this facility, you will not be disappointed!

I moved to Heartlands in November of 2018 knowing no one but . wanted to be closer to my family. Within a month I was fully involved with a myriad of activities in a super friendly community. The staff is just great. They care and show it. I chose a cottage and love having my own space including a nice sun porch, flower garden , and carport nearly right out the door. I am very happy and so glad I chose Heartlands.

A nice place to live in a nice part of town. Friendly residents and administration staff, nice apartments, an interesting level of activities, and reasonable apartment prices. The Wellness Staff and maintenance staff are terrific, the kitchen staff is okay to improving and the dining room wait staff very nice.

This is a great facility with a tremendous range of choices and activities. The staff are extremely caring and professional. The nurses at the wellness center go above and beyond their jobs to cater to the welfare of their patients.It is a clean building with walking trails, plenty of parking and easy access to restaurants, grocery stores and other amenities. Despite the large scale operation of the building, you never get the sense you are lost as everyone goes out of their way to make you feel special.It should be placed in high consideration when choosing an assisted living facility. They have a great staff and excellent support team

HeartLands has done a good job of preventing COVID-19 outbreaks. We are grateful for their diligence.

I have lived in Heartlands 8 years. I love it here! The people who live here are very nice and the building is well maintained that I live in. Debbie, the assistant director is extremely helpful if you have a problem or need help.I try to go on all the Thursday day trips (except ones I have no interest in).

This place is a complete nightmare, the staff is nasty and rude to the residents all the time and management is completely disrespectful. Their food service director has no idea what she is doing & not to mention is scared of half of her own employees.

Heartlands is a great facility. Great location, activities for both independent and assisted living, therapy care on site, MD visits on site, good food, entertainment- what more could you ask for! Nursing staff in wellness in the assisted living area are at your service for the whole community- educated, caring, and easy to communicate with.

The facility is clean and beautiful, lovely grounds, very good location with easy access to major highways and the area medical system. The restaurant-style dining offers very good food, excellent service, and everyone tries very hard to please the resident. Special activities are offered every day including games and social gatherings. There are numerous doctors for a variety of specialties on staff, all friendly and offering good, personalized care. Questions one has about ones parent are addressed quickly and one is kept up-to-date on all issues;

My father has been at Heartlands Independent Living for three years and is very happy with all they have had to offer. Good food, great staff, his Doctor is onsite, activities are good, and he enjoys his independence. If he needs more support with daily living, he may transition to Assisted Living which is also available.

After reviewing several assisted living facilities, we moved both my parents into a couples residence at Heartlands Senior Living in Ellicott City. The most compelling argument I can make for Heartlands would be the outstanding medical care my parents receive. Both parents are frail and the daily medical attention provided has been outstanding. The entire medical staff has been helpful and has gone above and beyond, including when mom was in the hospital for a recent heart surgery. The Heartlands medical staff helped us navigate that significant medical event and several others. They are a top shelf team.The food at Heartlands has also met expectations. My wife and I and our kids have eaten at Heartlands several times with Grandma and Grandpa and we have been very satisfied with the quality of the food. The calendar seems to always have entertainment for the residences and Heartland “bus” is another very positive amenity.I would strongly recommend this facility and truly feel this is a safe and pleasant environment for my parents to reside. /eak

My mother lived in an independent living apartment for 4 years. Her apartment was clean, spacious, the meals were very good, and she enjoyed the other residents around her. She and I both appreciated Connie, the woman at the hair salon, and the women who planned the day trips. Either my daughter or I accompanied Mom on many of the fun trips. My only frustration was that my mom had Alzheimers Disease and couldnt remember to take advantage of the various daily activities on the grounds. I asked several employees multiple times if there were a way to remind her (maybe even with a buddy system), but I was told that since she was in independent living there was nothing they could do. Maybe this scenario would have happened anywhere, but it was frustrating because Mom was sociable and friendly and would have liked to be more involved. Instead, she spent much of her time alone inside her apartment watching TV or reading.

My brothers and I visited numerous assisted living communities in the area to find a facility that we felt would satisfy our desire to find the perfect residence for our 89 year old mother. We are convinced that our unanimous decision four years ago to move her to the Heartlands was the best we could have made. The care she has received, from outstanding nursing care, excellent and nutritious meals, unmatched cleanliness throughout the facility and the extensive variety of entertainment, educational and physical fitness opportunities allow her to lead a comfortable and fulfilling life. The personal care she gets to assure her safety and health requirements are outstanding. Our 93 year old mother is definitely in a safe and happy place.

Heartlands is a superb large assisted living and independent living facility in Ellicott City. They give excellent individualized care in a beautiful setting. I would highly recommend Heartlands if you are looking for a setting that is able to meet your loved ones needs as they age in place.

Absolutely the BEST!!! Trying to find assisted living for 60 yo relative was heart wrenching and exhausting. Went to several facilities that were either depressing or NOT good fit. As soon as I walked into HEARTLANDS, I was amazed at the vibrancy and upbeat atmosphere. Every staff member Ive met has been compassionate, friendly and genuinely concerned about the well-being of all the residents. They have all gone above and beyond to make my relative feel welcome, comfortable and part of the community. My relative doesnt fit the norm and theyve been more than willing to adjust their functions to be accommodating. It is so touching and heartwarming to see that all the staff treat the residents with respect, kindness and as individuals. One would expect an assisted living facility to be subdued or depressing, this is so NOT the case with Heartlands!! Our whole family loves visiting! The grounds are beautiful and the facility feels like a resort.Every staff member Ive seen has been exceptional. They have all been so generous with their time and are more than willing to be of assistance. The Heartland is a wonderful place. I have lived here since April 2013. I love the place because of all the activities, because of the warm reception that I received, because of all the friendly people that are residents here, and simply because its very comfortable here.

We cant thank Heartland Village enough for helping Ray over the last year. The staff and services are just outstanding. We would recommend Heartlands for anyone who needs rehabilitation from a brain injury.

Fifty years ago I went and fought for our country’s freedom in a place called Vietnam. Two years ago I had a seizure and found myself in a hospital bed as my brother took responsibility for me and my possessions. I had lost my freedom and dignity and was put into an Assisted Living. A month ago I went on the search for an Independant Living community, and fortunately I found the Heartlands. They checked my background and allowed me to move into one of their most wonderful cottages. The staff is extremely helpful in making my transition from Assisted to Independent Living so seamless. I regained a newfound freedom I had lost 2 years prior. I was finally back out on my own. My brother entered Heartlands Ellicott City about five weeks ago. He was unable to manage his health at home, nor could he manage all the household responsibilities. He was overwhelmed and in poor health. I, had been managing every aspect of his care, which was more than a small challenge. He was dreadfully lonely and did not go out very often.When we moved him to Heartlands I was hopeful, but never dreamed he would do this well. After PT 2 - 3 times a week, correct meds on time, physical assessments frequently by the NP and healthy meals on a regular schedule my brother is transforming He has people to talk to, eat with, even joke around with . He is happy, engaged in life again, meeting people, becoming involved and coming back to life. He asked me to write a letter to thank all the people at Heartlands for giving him his life back.I can finally relax knowing he is receiving excellent healthcare when needed. He has the same nurse 5 days a week. The continuity is so important,. She knows him well and detects any change and communicates regularly with me.. The secretary in the wellness center ( Angie) has gone over and above to help us. I was exhausted and overwhelmed when we first came and no matter what the problem she always helped me find a solution, and did so with compassion and respect. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The nursing staff I have identified have taken over Eds care and communicated with me every step of the way. I cannot tell you what a joy and relief to know my brother is in competent hands. Yesterday I had lunch with him and a lovely visit. I was just his sister, no longer a stressed out caregiverMy brother and I want to express our attitude to every employee at Heartlands. Their upbeat, respectful attitudes make living there a pleasure. It is no longer a home it is my brothers home, where he is happy and physically stable. Worries about the day to day responsibilities are gone and he can just enjoy life now.We thank you for the bottom of our heart.Being a nurse over 30 years my standards are set high, as are my expectations.Heartlands you set the bar high and more than met expectations and high standards.Job well done!Jeana Lovelace
