Ive hunted with Current Creek Outfitters two times now and saying my expectations where blown away is an understatement. I hunted with Riley for both hunts, and not only did he show us some amazing bucks and bulls, he took it upon himself to teach me the ways of archery hunting which I am new to. We also had the opportunity to meet 4 of the CCO guides who were all impressive with their knowledge of the outdoors. They even took time to point us in a direction of a few bucks they saw when they were on their own personal hunts. To me, that type of teamwork goes to show how classy CCO is. Definetly book them for your next hunt if you want to learn new skills and harvest quality big game!

I was drawn for a desert bighorn and I decided to hire a guide since this was a one in a lifetime chance. After doing some research and getting some advice from fellow hunters I chose Currant Creek Outfitters. I have never regretted that decision. This was my first ever guided hunt so I did not really know what to expect. I was treated politely and respectfully the entire time. I had a foot injury and was I out of shape at the time and they worked with me and never judged me. I was allowed to bring my 10 year old son along just for the experience as well. The food was excellent and they even fed my son.I was sent photos of rams they had spotted during scouting trips. I actually was sent a photo of the ram I eventually harvested. I hired just one guide, but some other Currant Creek Outfitter guides showed up to help just because they like to hunt, camp, and socialize with fellow hunters. The entire experience was amazing!

My son and I hunted for mule deer this last fall with CCO. We were very happy with the accommodations provided, campsite was clean and food was good. Lots of choice for lunches. Dinners were great cooked by Mitch, our guide. Very pleased, and in the end, killed my largest buck yet. Thanks to Mitch for a great hunt. He went above and beyond my expectations for a guide and Ive done a lot of guided hunts. I would highly recommend Currant Creek Outfitters. I will hopefully get to use them again next fall if I draw.

I’ve hunted with guides all over the west and Riley and team definitely do it right. Very knowledgeable on the area we hunted. Good equipment. Willing to break their backs to find and put you on the game. Food was great along with camp. Don’t really know what else you can ask for as long as you’re not looking for a five star Lodge Ranch hunt.

Riley, Justin and the rest of the team at Currant Creek Outfitters are very professional. Whether you are an avid hunter, just beginning, or whatever special needs you may have; this outfitter team will not hesitate to go the extra mile and make you the #1 priority. The food, housing, caping & quartering, and customer service was excellent! With the knowledge they have of your hunting area, this is a team that will not give up until they put you on game. I can say with confidence, and personal experience of going on an epic adventurous guided hunt with them twice for deer and elk; I came home successful with meat for the freezer both times. I highly recommend Currant Creek Outfitters - a team of experienced professionals to guide on your next successful hunt.

My son and I hunted with Currant Creek for mule deer in Oct. 2020. We had a tag for the Ruby Mountains and it was extremely dry and the animals were hard to find. Even with the adverse conditions, our guide Dalton was very persistent and kept an upbeat outlook. His attitude and knowledge kept us in a positive mindset, and after 5 days we found a 175 buck, which was a huge bonus to an already excellent hunt. Accommodations and meals were top notch, as were the communications leading up to the hunt.

I hunted muzzle loader elk with Currant Creek outfitters. I did not take an elk on my trip and thats ok because thats hunting. we saw several really good bulls. I would rank this hunt as one of the better hunts I have ever been on it was more like hunting with close friends than a guided hunt and I had never met any of the crew prior to my trip. I cant wait to draw a tag in Nevada I will definitely book with Riley again.

Dear Riley,I want to thank you for the great Elk Hunt I had. My experience hunting with Joel and Kurt was a pure pleasure.I can’t say enough about Joel. He is hard-working and his knowledge of the area and patterns of the animals was remarkable. We were out of camp every morning before daylight, not returning until it was too dark to continue “taking inventory.” We spotted Elk every day, undertaking stalks throughout the week with Joel putting me in position, on more than one occasion, to harvest an animal. Joel was patient, attentive, and knows what it takes to make a successful hunt.Upon my arrival, Kurt greeted me like an old friend and showed me around the campsite. The camp was first class in every aspect. It was clean, uncluttered and well-kept.Kurt’s attention to detail goes unmatched from having coffee and an assortment of items ready for breakfast, to having a large selection of cold cuts and condiments for lunch. The dinners Kurt prepared were superior. They varied from meal to meal, were flavorful and wholesome good, home-style cooking rivaling some of the best restaurant fare I’ve experienced. In addition to Kurt’s duties in camp, he accompanied Joel and me during our morning spotting sessions. The spotting positions we took, most often on a ridge line, provided no protection from the elements. The temperature was near freezing the entire week. Coupled with the wind chill factor, we experienced below zero conditions. Kurt stayed in these frigid conditions, spotting for me during our morning stalks and did so without complaint.I am truly thankful for my experience. Both Joel and Kurt are accomplished and fun to be with. It was a quality hunt, conducted by professionals, from start to finish.I enjoyed my time spent in camp and I look forward to our paths crossing again.Sincerely,Ron Johnson “RJ”

Horrible, no other word could possibly describe hunters experience and guides description of hunt. Had to use my car jack to support guides trailer, food was a joke and 5 year old snacks for trail mixs; stale and disgusting. Guide used the trailers heater duct to defrost meat and chicken. Cant get any worse then that. I contacted guide several times in advance to see if I could help with food prep. I was told to not worry and food would be great. We were promised our own trailer due to female attending but when on sight everyone was in same camper, not cool. Guide almost got us stuck in mud 15 miles from nearest camper. Guide had no come-along, wench or even a shovel in truck. Harvesting an animal is a blessing but the experience should be blissful, not even close. All talk and NO show. Master guide promised to help on last day but he ended up training his dogs for mountain lions and we lost any extra SET OF eyes to help. Guides couldnt even provide wood for fire. I would highly recommend hunters go elsewhere. Worse part is we were in guides own hometown/backyard and they couldnt provide an experience. I have 4 grandkids and will never use Currant Creek again.

I hunted with Riley, Josh, and Stacy on a mule deer hunt in unit 13 a few years back, we dug up a buck that any hunter would love to kill that didnt quite work out to not fault of the outfitter. I ended up killing a 160” deer on the last day and couldn’t have been happier after hunting hard to have brought that buck home.My father hunted with Riley on a statewide tag a few years back, that’s when he met Riley and they killed a monster of a muley that scored in the 230” range, a true non-typical beast.Last year my buddy and I hunted with Riley’s guides Mitch and Dalton, and us four had an absolute blast brought home a nice bull for each of us, and I hunted 6 days before I decided to take a 340-350” mature bull. It was a ton of fun and those guys were like hunting with friends I’ve had for years. All of the times listed above Riley and his team were the definition of professionals, and also felt like a hunt amongst close friends. The accommodations ranged from sleeping in tents and trailers to a ranch house but we were always well taken care of as far as sleeping/ eating/ transportation. If you’re willing to hunt these guys will help you get the most out of your tag and I couldn’t recommend them any higher. I continue to put in the guide draw with Riley and can’t wait for the next time we draw a tag and set out on another adventure.
