Would not recommend getting a membership here if you have kids. Because they allow their workers kids to take up the spots in childcare. So, you pay for a membership and don’t even get to use it. Owner doesn’t care either..... they don’t tell you that when you sign up for a membership that the only allow 10 kids and 4 spots are taking up by the employees kids!!

I joined Etown Swim & Fitness for the sole reason that they had daycare back in September 2019 after moving back from Florida. From the get go I had issues with the daycare and their cleanliness. I even went to management to address this issue within a week of joining. I had issues with the daycare staff in the late evening since I would find son’s arms red and tender as if someone had brusquely grabbed him. I stopped going in the evenings and started going during that afternoon. Those young women, I must say, did a wonderful job and never had issues. Hopefully they get a pay raise.I haven’t been back (nor do I ever plan to) since March but the equipment wasn’t well maintained and some of it was rusty and felt like it would fall apart at anytime.Once the pandemic hit, this place STILL tried to charge me $10.60. Why? They stated that they were providing live fitness classes and the track outside was kept open for gym members. First off, I cannot do LIVE classes. I have a 15 month old and no toddler is ever going to let you exercise in peace. I’m a single mom so it’s not like I can just ask my significant other to watch him. Second of all, I can stream wonderful fitness classes from YouTube using Roku FOR FREE! If I really want to walk outside I don’t want to drive all the way to this track when I can just walk out my door and exercise that way. Why would I waste gas and time driving to a track?Anyway, I sent them a certified letter requesting an explanation in late March. It took them nearly 5 weeks to get back to me! At the end of their letter there owner stated she needed a response within 2 days? Ummmm what? It took her 4-5 weeks and she wants to put me in a bind and answer back in 48 hours! Crazy! It’s crazy that they expect payment when they’re closed and not providing services. Once again, as a single mom during this pandemic, I think $10.60 can be used for a service or product that I am using or that my son needs! Please join another fitness center in etown and steer clear of this place!

We both have had hip replacement surgery. Osteo/functional fitness class w James Hummel has some of the same exercises we did in physical therapy, plus many exercises with freeweights and resistance bands. James is very knowledgable about anatomy/function, and gives valuable tips to exercise efficiently and safely. He coaches you to challenge yourself , and he plays great music. Tai Chi class is like meditation in motion. Instructor Bill Flynn is very patient with us! We also like Aqua aerobics with Phyllis, Kathryn. All these classes have increased our mobility and strength and balance and we enjoy all the people as well.

My husband gets a great deal for our membership through his employer, so cant complain about the price in our case. This place has great classes! We go to the heated power yoga every week. The instructors are awesome and I love the sauna and Jacuzzi after the work out. The Jacuzzi could be cleaner, the place needs a lot of new touches and renovation, but overall its a great place. I wouldnt have thought to go to a hair and nail shop inside a gym, but they gave me a coupon when we joined. I was pleasantly surprised. The nail tech was so nice and did a great job! The facility is very large and you can pretty much find any workout machine you need. Some of the equipment is older though and some of the dumbbells are rusted. The biggest issue weve had is that the WiFi does not work downstairs and it can be very frustrating. Other than that, the staff is very friendly, the pool area is great, and they offer a good variety of classes. I love that they allow you to bring a small cooler and pool toys to the pool area - other places dont allow that. The entire building is a bit of a maze, but you get used to it.

I joined for the free weight area downstairs, the other parts I cant speak for. The floor has large tears in it around the squat rack, which is the worst place for an uneven floor to be and has yet to be fixed in the 10 months Ive been going. The majority of the dumbbells feel like theyre going to fall apart in your hand when you pick them up. The barbells might as well be bare steel because the knurling on the majority of them is so worn down, you cant lift maximal weights without chalk (which isnt allowed).

The gym is unsanitary, with Clorox wipes limited to one per member. Members must ask a front desk staff member for a wipe, so theres no way around this. This is awful during cold and flu season . There are also never clean towels available. The daycare is a tragedy waiting to happen. There is a paper to sign your child(ren) in, and thats it. There is not an identifying name tag placed on your child, nor a matching number or wrist band to ensure that the correct adult picks up the child. Additionally, members attending spin class walk through the childcare area to reach their class. The cost of membership to this gym is comparable to much nicer facilities, with better amenities. I highly recommend shopping around.

Very well equipped facility. Has allot of potential. There are however some opportunities to get better. The weight room has more dumbbells than actual rack space, this makes for a mess. There is no anti-bacterial wipes for the weight equipment. This is a problem if you dont like laying in someone elses sweat. The staff seems to be very friendly. Jake is the man:) However it does seem as though the behind the desk staff has their hands tied since there appears to be a lack of upper management. The place could be awesome if there was someone there actually running the place.

The inside gymnasium is shut off and is inaccessible and when I asked why the answer I got was the gymnastic team was using it and it was shut off from other members at this time so then I asked when would it be accessible again and the staff member was unable to give me a straight answer and the only reply he gave me was I think maybe October which is 6 months from now and he was still unsure of that answer part of the reason I paid for the membership was to have access to the inside gymnasium is because I thought they where open 24 hours a day come to find out they are closed at night over the weekends and I work nights and I dont even get off work until 11:pm to 3:am so I really just want some where I can go hang out play some basketball where its not dark or cold some where inside and away from the elements so for me this is highly disappointing as it is the only gym in Elizabethtown that I thought was open 24 hours a day 7 days a week with a inside gymnasium the guy who was there and was the only staff member there working at the time which is just sad also went on to say that they had been losing a lot of business of late geez I wonder why

The womens locker room was trashed my first day - paper towels everywhere, a used latex glove on the floor, broken lockers, broken toilet, yuck! Its just so messy with no space. Theres a whole bunch of muscle isolation machines crammed into a small space upstairs. The free weight room downstairs is a mess and is usually overcrowded. The floor is torn up and uneven. No lifting platforms - you just have to find some space to do deadlifts where no one will trip over you too much. No chalk. The cable machines need maintainance. Equipment scattered about like my kids bedroom. The only reason why I still come here is because there isnt really anywhere else to go. Ft Knox is too far away and Planet Fitness isnt lifter friendly.

Facilities are okay if a little worn in areas. Class offerings are good if a little overcrowded in the evening and staff is friendly. Childcare is not the best. Frequently has high child/caregiver ratios especially in the evening. Always has a TV on and is in a very small room that is often overcrowded. They do not follow their own written childcare policies and the management doesnt care about member concerns. Plus they are one of the only gyms that actually charge for childcare if you dont have a family account. May be good for parents of older children but not so much if they are smaller.

I explained the trouble we had went through and was still going to give them money and they still didnt let us in! I know this wasnt the case but my 11 year old sister felt like they were being raciest because of the way they treated us! That’s pretty sad! And if we were a memeber we still had to pay $10? There was peppermint broken and and dirty socks and things for the better part of 3 hours. This is not the first occurance,  typically the mens area stays unsanitary,  you wont see a employee until Im sure in the morning right about time they must come clean . Its clearly a reflection of horrible management at The highest levels and the failure of parenting for the ethics,  morals and values some of the so called young men ( for lack of a better word) exhibit.  Ive discussed these issues with the i assume the GM. It would be easiest to first highlight the positive. Out of all of the local gyms, this one offers the most classes across a broader schedule. This is the information you will see on your tour, along with the pools, which are their pièce de résistance. Once this magic wears off, the true beast reveals itself.Planning on lifting weights? Good luck, as you get a corner of a restructured gym with temporary walls and outdated/broken equipment. It is in desperate need of repair and showcases the emphasis they place on weightlifting.Do you have children? Great, as they offer child care. What they fail to mention however, is that the price per child for their care is not permanent and will fluctuate as needed. Of course, this is in their favor. There is no grandfathering in of the price, even if you pay your membership up front for a 12 month period. You will pay what the current price is, regardless of your membership duration. Already we have had this happen.Additionally, their outdoor pool are not always available. With the beginning of school, hours for the pool change to maximize profits when having to pay lifeguards. Oh, did they fail to mention that in your tour? Sorry, you already paid. Try again next year. You get a 4 hour window during the weekdays and all the children on the weekends. Have fun!If Etown Swim and Fit cared as much to maintaining its customer retention as it did to making/saving a buck, this place could be great. In the meantime, make sure you read the fine print.

Not sure if their policies are legal or not, but they require an original signed document of cancellation request before they will consider you no longer a member; and all the while you are no longer attending, they will send you nastygrams and collection agents to try and extract more money out of you. I asked why she wasnt buckled in to a chair meant for an infant and the girl looked at me like I was stupid. The manager apologized and said they had problems with this kid to begin with, but wouldt kick them out of daycare and now my daughter has a knot on her head.
