Hi, my name is Janelle. When I first went to this hospital in September, the five days I was there felt traumatizing. The staffs were very rude. It felt like they didnt even care about the patients mental health. If they wanted to help the patients they would have a long time ago. No disrespect or anything, but I just want whats best for the patients cause they deserve a better life than just being sick their whole life’s.

I stayed here. As a vet I am satisfied with the level of safety. I also had a great time recovering and socializing with people from all walks of life.

PTSD from this place. The hospital shouldnt have sent me here without any kind of diagnosis, I had a panic attack late last year and became a sort of nonverbal at the ER (where i seeked help), due to the attack. No phd or anyone could see what was happening. I remember being asked if i was having trouble breathing as i was having trouble breathing and as the Doctor was walking away. As a result I was sent here to this forced detention, Wich triggered another two or three attacks of panic. Which I had never experienced before. No doctor was available, no help, no medication. I wish I could sue the hospital and this place for the treatment and harassment I endured. None of my injuries from the restraining was documented, perhaps because too much force was used and was 100% unnecessary. I still cannot forget the angry faces and Needle waiting for me as I cried out for my family. Someone help real patients get out of this place. I am in so much pain till now, worse than ever. What i saw here was only about medicaid patients taking a vacation, drug addicts come here to sober up, i didnt see anyone suffering from a mental state, nore did i witness any professionals on site. The food is greasy and extremely salty, and all the wrong things for ppl with high blood pressure or anyone trying to prevent diabetes. I wasnt able to eat much due to hypertension, the jail-like ventilation is LOUD and they open your door every 10-30 minutes to ask if youre okay, they shut the door even if you say no. Adequate sleep isnt available. This medical chain of hospitals is heart breaking and disappointing. When will real psychiatric help be available!? The first time i was in here was literally ignore by the staff and groups were the worst this one dude literally told me it was my fault for being depressed. This one staff lady called rosa she would always get mad at the kids sitting together

I really thought this place was a safe place for my kid to feel better and get some type of encouragement. After a few times of my son being admitted there.. these ppl opened up a CPS case against me. For being honest with these ppl and actually taking action to help my son with his suicidal ideation we wind up getting in trouble! Now my son has been threatened to be removed from my home if he ever tried to step a foot in this place. So... if he ever self harms or has suicidal thoughts I will have to seek help elsewhere. It’s a very sad thing. Instead of these people helping us they’ve put a huge burden on my family. My son is now fearful of being removed from my care. So on top of struggling to cope with his emotions these people have made him feel even more hopeless. We will continue to seek help from counselors and doctors who do not directly work with the state. The judgement and the lack of understanding is insane. Everyone is different and not every kid has a bad past. These people put you in a box and manipulate the situation. I do not recommend this place anymore. Sad to say at one point I really thought this place was helpful.

My son has always relied on this behavioral center. Sometimes the staff can be rude to him, but I dont blame them. Hes always talking, and very emotional to everything and not even I can understand him. The staff must be paid great cause they are good to their patients and paid well and even those who are charge can be very very awful and they get paid better. So all is splendid..

This place was awful. Staff is unprofessional. I had questions and concerns while I was admitted and they dodged me. When I complained the staff started being rude to me.

I’ve been there allot, it’s not a good place, the nurses are rude, they don’t accept you for who you are and just plain out ignore you when you need help, they food is good but the nurses and RNS are mean as hell, I’m a teen so I go to the adolescents unti and they treat us badly, we’re growing kids and crave affection but the nurses there are terrible and rude and make our cases worst.

I think Administration needs to revisit procedures in place. The fact that patients and relatives are posting negative comments should be a red flag to listen and make an effort to look into these complaints. I would not recommend this place.

Whent to get my son evaluated by a phycologist not admitted,rn nurse and staff failed to tell me what type of facility it is.along with the fact that they just wanted to take in my son and let him stay there without being evaluated first,so when I told them am not leaving my son there with them without knowing what is going on,they end up telling me that there opening a case against me and its medical neglect.i told the rude rn that they gave me no info on the place and I just wanted to get him evaluated but Dr himself said to her to proceed with the cps case either way.so parents out there be aware this place there are rude,they just want u to throw your kid out there without being evaluated and if u ask questions they just ignore what u say.i would not recommend this place for any children

I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. The only thing they do is drug you to see how you do with it. You could do this anywhere. So theyre basically just trying to get your money for something you can do at a lower cost. Also, the hospitals treatment does not work apparently since i went into another hospital which was better than the one here.

I was in the pyschiatry unit the people there treated me with the up most. Respect they took time to explain everything. The food was awesome and had enough. I would go back, some people get mad if they dont get it their way. All hospitals have good employees and there are bad ones too. But if anyone knows of a hospital where you can smoke and have. Good food and good doctors. Please tell me where they are. The social worker I had was a very nice lady. So please dont even think about closing the hospital. One more thing the techs on every shift were polite to me.

This hospital does not do anything positive for your kids and lied to me about how things were run in there and how my daughter would be taken care of. I fell for those lies .i walked out those doors believing I made a good choice to have the complete opposite take place as soon as I drove away! I was informed that my daughter would get the help she needed while in there . If locking them in their rooms for hours at a time and keeping them medicated that all they do is sleep is there way of giving the best care then every single one of these staff members need to be the ones placed in a mental facility and kept there forever ! And for the counselor who told some of these kids its their fault they feel the way they are feeling and they can make the depression go away if they just dont think thy are depressed is by far the most in ethical way to approach these kids .

Exellent place to start over, staff took care of all my needs, classes, rec center, food, and group time. I recommend this place five stars.

I went there 1 year ago it was not good they put me in a room alone and a lot of depreson started to form the docters there were nice to me but the only good thing is the food i had a horable expirince the staff seamed anoyed by us and they would just sit there write evry thing down i stayed there for 7 days becase my doc did not come ihate it there they should close down

Absolute worst experience with billing with South Texas Health System (Universal Health Services) at the The Behavioral Clinic of South Texas . I was recommended there by a physician at the Valley Care Clinic (another one of UHSs subsidiaries) and it was the worst thing I could have ever done. I was told that they provided free services because they had received grant monies to provide free services. However, several months later I received a bill from them but I was told by their staff to submit an economic hardship form and that everything should be okay. I submitted the application and I have yet to receive a response from them almost 4 months later. In addition, I have been sent to collections and my credit has now been negatively affected. The staff was friendly to me and I feel as though they tried their best to help me resolve the issues, but all their billing is handled in different locations in both Dallas, Texas and Prussia, Pennsylvania. There wasnt really anything that the staff here could do about it. Its rather frustrating that nothing is handled here at their local office. I would just be very wary if you use their tele-psych services because your insurance could deny the coverage (which mine did) since it is a new service and then you will be left to foot an outrageous bill. Im so thankful that I no longer use/need their services. It relieves the stress of receiving a ridiculously high bill months later and then being sent to collections.

Not a good place doctors don’t care about the patience they only want the money... worst place ever they should close it ..... I blame them for my son death because they let him go when he was not stable don’t ever go to that hospital doctor’s don’t care .....

Not much to do but sleep all day, but they told me theyre fixing that. Could be solved by putting in team-based retro games like Smash Bros on the N64 to get people closer and start talking.

Absolutely terrible and unkempt! I was talking to a friend and, with her permission and no name dropping, I am going to write about her experience because I feel like the wall of negativity this Hospital (I use the term so very loosely) has built upon itself. Because its clearly earned its terrible reputation and Im going to go ahead and add to it! :)Before I start, I want to say I wish there was a 0 Star option. I asked my friend if there was a single thing that could make this place decent and her only response was the food was pretty good. So that single star only goes to the food because nothing else earns it.My friend mentions that the most anyone does is just sit around in a single room most of the time. People did go out for smoke breaks at certain times, but everything was centered around a single area with couches, tables, and chairs. Most of the people there would end up napping on the couches.She stayed away from the couches but did socialize with one of the people who did. She found a bug laced into that persons hair and the two freaked out over it. She had told a staff member about it and they immediately cleaned up... Youd think that would be a good thing, right?No.Establishments like these are meant to be cleaned consistently. The fact that an area was so unkempt that BUGS were there is a sign that no one cared to clean before someone finally complained. So she saw people pulling out yogurt cups and wrappers from under the cushions.Staff make their own rules that were against what is already set up.My friend was there for their first time and no one, absolutely NO ONE, instructed them what to do or where to go if they needed something. My friend suffered from a lot of necessary nagging when staff switched because certain people made their own rules and she was only following what she had been told. And she was the one who got the short end of the stick because people dont have enough common sense to do their own job.These people almost stole from my friend. When she was leaving, she had two bags with clothes and her new shoes along with her ID (which took her a long time to get, by the way). But apparently that bag wasnt listed and they tried sending her home without it they even tried lying to her that one of her family members took it home. And, its funny, if a family member did take it... Why wouldnt those idiots keep track of who take someones belongings?Finally, and this possibly the one that got me to write all of this down;My friend was waiting in line to go lunch and some man had grabbed her butt, squeezed it, and called her fatass. She was quiet about it until the next morning where she finally gained the courage to say something. A STAFF MEMBER told this young woman you have to come here with thick skin.Let that sink in for a moment.Now let me state that this woman was African American and has suffered through sexual assault in her youth. The staff member who told her this was a white man.That you have to come here with thick skin was a heartless comment and really puts this place into perspective. Because a staff member literally told someone I dont care in the cruelest fashion.Also, I want to say that she checked in herself Usually, when people check in, they should be allowed to leave at any time. She was not allowed to leave when she wanted, especially after being touched inappropriately and getting such a disgusting response by a staff member.She did not feel safe here. So they made her wait a few days because she wasnt talking more in group sessions so a place that made her feel unsafe was just basically just making her stick around for the sake of a paycheck instead of really caring about her health.If you love your friends or family members who suffers from mental illness; please, find them a better Hospital. Especially if they have suicidal thoughts and/or are African American, because this place will not treat them with any care or comfort and might actually push them into doing it.

This place is OK. If youre put into their 3 day observation, they will help you if they can, but that means they will restrict your freedoms. Youre in socks the whole time, they put you in a big room with other people that do have problems but it is safe. They restrict what you have in your room and what you do during the day to keep the place peaceful. Its pretty much baby sitting adults with problems. They lock the rooms for most of the day so youre all together in the day room and have group concealing/activities. They give you snacks and coffee, water, tv time, games, coloring books, and even smoke breaks. You have access to public phones and bathrooms. They keep you well fed 3 times a day. They do issue meds, but you can refuse them if youre not in distress or out of hand. Look, if youre here you have issues and need the help. You have to be willing to help yourself and be reasonable with the whole situation, its not a hotel vacation. Im doing a lot better after this place. Im grateful they took me, it started a positive change in my life. Thanks

Great place with great food. Dr Matos was fantastic. But, the staff needs to be changed. Theres several great ones, but most need to be replaced. There just there for a paycheck. But i do highly recomend it.

This place is the best south Texas behavior center Dr. And the nurses are awesome I enjoy going there I was there for major depression and suicidal and staff are the best love you all

The South Texas Behavioral Health Center really helped me. when I had problems with my life I went there and since I feel better, so if anyone has any problems I suggest you come here for help.

Good food and they are nice i was there

Hate this place, I was with the kids but all they do is make you watch some TV they will get mad at you for talking or standing up, they tell you they will punish you by giving you a shot that will make you sleep all day. Theyre so cranky, I was only there because I had anxiety and depression. Do not come here

Pros: coupon on medicineCons: take forever to call you unless if your lucky, treat you like you have no feelings or just another mentally ill person, through monitor doctor, cant call back doctor once appointment finished, doctor sometimes forgot about me so always started as I was always a new patient, service sucks in conclusionNope just absolute horribleWent here to see a psychiatrist for depression, adhd, anxiety and I just got checked on depression even though my main concern would be ADHDMost appointments I waited more than 2-3 hr for just 5 fast minute in seeing the doctor through monitor even though I got there on timeOne time I waited 4 hrs while other people just either left or complained to get rescheduled and some even walked in then walked out because of how full it was so imagine if they all stayedStaff were rude in a way were they cant understand how you feelOut of the 3 times going there I felt like bursting into cryingWhen I got in to see the doctor I got one that had to do with depression only so I asked what about adhd? The assistant just said that would be a different doctor since the one im going to see only specializes on depressionAnd right when I was going to claim in not wanting to get seen for depression everything started moving fast without getting the chance to speak upIf you are going here for depression good luck getting medicated in the first appointment,While I got prescribed the same medication in which I took before (that didnt work and gave me bad symptoms) the doctor told me to take them to see if THEY WORKED while I tried to speak up in how I already took them, the doctor kept talking as she didnt hear me then ended the call so I told the assistant this time that I took the medicine before and the guy just told me to take the medicine and see if it works just like the doctor said and right there I just wanted to cry so muchSince your suppose to follow doctors advice in order to get better, I took the medicine just so I can see if there was a miracle but instead I got worse symptoms and didnt get any benefits from itNext appointment the doctor listened to me on how the medicine didnt work so she prescribed me a different one and while I took this one I stopped because I just didnt see myself getting anywhere from antidepressantsso the following appointment the doctor told me if I was feeling better I lied and just said yes as she replied with good the antidepressant are working keep in mind that was my last visit since I changed places right away because it was that bad for me to continue a place that just made me feel worse I even told the doctor I wanted to kill myself (joke, bad Idea I know I tried my best sounding sarcastic) while the doctor sounded worried and offended with a response of her wanting to sent me to the hospital next to it I knew I regret it saying those words since the sarcasm couldnt be heard well through voice chatBut yea never went there after being threaten in getting sent to the horrible hospital since I was considered suicidal to herAt the beginning I was told I can changed doctors if I didnt like it so I asked on the next appointment and when I did asked on the next appointment the guy told me theres no point of changing doctors since they are all the sameNow to sum things up GET YOURSELF AN ACTUAL FACE TO FACE DOCTOR BECAUSE THE ONES HERE SUCK BIG TIME and if you end up getting an old doctor who wears glasses and lives in houston that has trouble listening you gotta: speak loud, speak up, explain situations that she doesnt seem to know and dont sound unsecured or else she will not trust you in getting prescribed

Staff was rude dont pay attention to patiots they just what money. I was there for simple depression t was an experience i will never forget about all my troubles were worse just want to get out of there as soon possible which was not easy because the staff make the rule Dr mayoes never show up n when he does dont even want to talk to patiots they just plain wrong person to talk they dont listen they assume ur crazy amen may God have mercy on whoever has to put up to them and ignore me as well as all patiots. There they should shut down the place stop waste tax payers money .the first thing they do is put in room with no attend here s nobody to look out for the patiotsJust shut it down only person are the un licened staff and they are mean.

Youll be stuck in a room with criminals on some hard drugs provided by the hospital. Fights break out and one lady in her late 40s might try scolding her way into stopping it. They stick everyone in that one room with hard chairs and give you enough drugs to not complain. Also, if you complain its not like anything would change.And try being off on your own to avoid the loud cliques that form, most patients will know each other and you wont belong, youll just feel out of place and if youre a first timer youll have zero clue what to do, staff does zero to inform you of the rules.You dont put violent people on with 90 pound girls on some heavy sedatives, recipe for disaster.I had to reject medication because it made me feel awful but rejecting medication will keep you there longer, Im glad I faked my way out.

I did not like services at all. I was in desperation and needed my girls to get appropriate help and they sat in the day room just about the whole time!

This place doesn’t listen to people’s needs, especially the youths. My son was misdiagnosed and given meds he doesn’t need. The health care in the valley is ridiculous. Money is all that matters to people in the medical field.

05/18/2019 - 10.30 amHe comes to ask for information about my wife who is interned here in this place and you can not speak in person with the nurses so they answer you over the phone and the nurse said I do not speak Spanish I pass you with someone to help you and the person who is going help says hoooo my gooood another !!Well, he thought he did not listen but I did not say anything, I ask him. About a disease that my wife was detected to know that they were grabbing about it, does it have to be treated by doctors? Ask him or she is trying and he could not confirm that he is in treatment !!! Hauuu I said good if you will not be in treatment to ask for an ambulance or a doctor to go see it and I hung up the phone Saying I have no time to take your name Sandy Responsible for the place in turn! What can they expect from others?The first 2 errors of this place are at the entrance do not respect the visiting hours they have in the main door and apart from smoking in the courtyard! Well more apart my wife said when I went inside I am allergic to mushrooms and her food was served with mushrooms and she stayed without eating 1 day, plus the area where the internees are and 3 telephones and one does not work. That place u that I have not passed the reception! Im going to file a complaint with the state licensing department of Texas
