Cant say enough about Gabby at Shopko Optical in Eau Claire. Gabby went above and beyond to help me, and did it with extreme professionalism. Her attention to detail and intense desire to find a solution really won me over. My experience at Shopko Optical was exceptional, and Gabby gets almost all the credit.

My 7year old daughter received an eye exam. There was not a single engaging individual that assisted during the visit. I do believe if you are going to see children it is important to be able to explain the processes differently then you would with an adult. The individual out the chart up and just said Okay. I had to tell my daughter to start trying to read the charts

I was met with friendly, knowledgeable, and almost immediately with staff upon my visit. Filled out my paperwork and was taken for my preliminary exam . Upon that,I was taken to Dr. Lorenz and given a thorough description of my eye condition then and now. I felt well taken care of and a great experience with my Dr.and my exam. Upon completion, I myself picked out my frames,didnt feel the need for someone looking over my shoulder. I was very happy to see a familiar face, Cathy, took excellent care of me from there until she had me fitted for my new glasses. All around great experience. Shopko Optical has always been my eye care home,and will continue to be.

Upon my arrival, I got right in and filled out forms and did the testing, efficiently done by Maryah. Dr. Lorentz was his usual thorough and jovial self, in spite of having a pretty sore ankle. After determining my new prescription and telling me to return in a year to check the progress of my cataracts, he handed me over to Amy, an expert in fitting the glasses and figuring out the insurance. It was a very pleasant experience all the way around.

The doctor I saw was great. He was very helpful and explained everything to me but everything else was not. We initially got there a bit early so they went through some standard questions with me. I went through my appointment, everything was fine then after when I out in the lobby, nobody came to help me find glasses. I was waiting for quite a while. For the amount of customers that were there to how many opticians were working at the moment, one could have at least said they be right there to help me or ask me to look around and they be with me as soon as they could. Just the acknowledgement that I was there and they actually cared about me would have been nice. After deciding I didnt want to find glasses and Id rather just pay and leave, it took another 5-10 minutes for that to happen as well. I will be picking out my glasses and further appointments elsewhere.

Most of the folks we encountered were friendly and helpful. Very willing to explain differences in options. Pricing was phenomenal, especially ially for two pairs. There was a female worker that was quite rude, taking away from the experience. Make sure, if you arent willing to help customers, you dont say it loud enough so that they can hear.Staff 1: Are you going to help him?Theresa: no, not unless you dont want to.I was highly disgusted for that remark. Neither of us knew this person, she was rude towards more than just us. This should not reflect the other workers, but it doesnt help the businesz

I would like to share a follow up I had, after a very poor experience. The Regional Manager had reached out, immediately after noticing my initial review!! I was VERY grateful to have someone contact me on this matter. She was VERY APOLOGETIC UPFRONT and FOREMOST!! She had also shared that there has been some transitioning within the store. She had made it very clear about how she would escalate to resolve part of the main issue. This DOES make me feel like they DO CARE about their business and the customer.

Dr. Lorenz was great! What was not great was my insurance information being openly discussed in the lobby while I was sitting in the lobby- pretty sure that is a violation of HIPPA and my confidentiality as a patient. With my insurance, there were some problems and the staff was pretty rude in handling this matter. Additionally, one of the employees asked me my major- which is social work- and asked my plans after graduation. After telling her my plans, she had the audacity to reply “well, that will be great for all the people trying to walk freely into our country.” I didn’t ask for a racially charged response, but that surely ruined my entire experience at Shopko Optical. Take your business else where, they are not worth the hassle in dealing with and will only treat you with disrespect- except Dr. Lorenz, again was great.

Always a great experience with wonderful staff. I have been going to this location for years and really enjoy how they have flexed their service model to accommodate for a pandemic, by providing exterior seating for customers. Doctors are honest about whether or not you need to adjust your script, they do not push for you to buy from them, and if your glasses break, are wonderful at trying to help repair them. Highly recommended.

I have been a customer from the very first time I needed glasses (20 years +). Always had a good experience. Until today! I just stopped in to see if someone could look at getting a spot off my liens. She took one look and sad “we can’t help you. You will have clean them yourself “. . She didn’t ask my name or how old the glasses are. I believe they are less than two years. She sad I could buy new ones. If so, it will not be from Shopko

I am changing my review from 2 to 4 stars. Initial service for my son went well. But there was a miscommunication between the Lab and the shop on my order. Several unanswered calls and then a personal visit, and the issue was found. The staff at the shop was VERY helpful and expedited my order. I would have given 5 stars for the staff, but the hiccup in communication between the shop and lab took this down to 4 stars. Love my Maui Jim glasses btw. Thank you for your excellent service once the issue was found and resolved.

When setting up my appointment it took like 15-20min just for them to figure out how to work their systems then get my appointment booked finally. Coming into my exam, the doctor doesnt seem to know what he is doing and providing information that is confusing and false.. not my choice coming here, and I will not be coming back..

Between insurance and copay my glasses were close to $800, the glasses when slightly twisting the frames creaked really bad. To me that’s the lens isn’t snug inside the frames. After the 4th day the lens popped out of frames and now has 2 small little dings in them. Was told there isn’t anything I can do about it. Not impressed…

I have gone to Shopko Optical for years. I have gone other places, but always come back. Shopko Optical service is excellent. Once I was leaving for a Southern vacation and my sunglasses, which I just ordered, wouldn’t arrive until after my vacation. The optician said he’d see what he could do and called me with my ready to go sunglasses BEFORE my vacation. The staff actually helps you select glasses. They tell you which might be a better choice and why. They offer guidance without being pushy or too verbally biased.Today I took my kindergarten granddaughter to have her glasses adjusted. Her Covid mask caused her glasses to steam up. I worked with two technicians. The first technician worked on the steam on the glasses by offering a defogging solution. The second technician expertly adjusted the fit properly so the glasses fit better and eliminated the steam/ fogging.Thanks Shopko Optical. You are a great group!

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a shopko optical. Workers were bickering and complaining at each other. Only 2 workers were doing their jobs while there were 3 others sitting around. One worker had to tell them multiple times to come out and help the many customers waiting outside before they actually did it. Very unprofessional.

I had purchased a pair of expensive glasses at a different retailer a few months ago and just wasnt happy with them. I went to Shopko on a whim and was so pleasantly surprised. They were having a great sale so I got 2 pairs for less than what Id paid for my last pair, AND they tinted my other lenses so I could use them as sunglasses. Emma was especially helpful. I would recommend them 100%.

They wouldnt allow me in the completely empty store just to look at frames. I was told I need an appointment to come in and look at their glasses offerings. Seems like a pretty poor business model 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ive been seeing Dr Nyans for a number of yrs. Always receive a thorough exam. I take medications that can affect my eyes & he always compares prior yrs pictures of my eyes to ensure there are no changes, shows pictures to me, explains results. The staff is friendly, courteous and always check for ways for me to save $ with eligible discounts. The staff in the Chippewa Falls location are very pleasant also. Stopped in there when I lost a screw holding glasses together. The doctor fixed them for me right away, no charge, even though I was not a patient at her location. Please don’t waste your time at the Clairemont location. Horrendous customer service from our first contact on the phone to the flip response when we walked out in the middle of our order.The safety glasses we drove an hour to look at were dirty, broken, not labeled or priced and dropped into an unorganized bin.After spending 30 minutes waiting on the technician to find pricing I finally had enough when she started having an in-depth personal conversation while we waited. I had to interrupt her in order to tell her we were leaving.I don’t know what’s going on but I sure do hope the Rice Lake location is more on their game.

My elderly friends glasses just snapped in two off her face, she had no back up pair. After stopping at a couple shops, which seems uninterested in helping her, we came to Shopko Optical. Thank you so much Kurt (and addl staff!) for repairing them for her.

I used to like going here until this last time, brought my broken frames in for them to fix on Saturday. Never got a call saying they didnt get to it when we came in on Sunday to get them back, so decided to leave them there too get fixed, and come to find out when I called Monday that they were not fixable. Was I ever going to get a phone call?? On top of that, after telling them it was my only pair for the 3rd or 4th time, I had my wife go and get them to fix myself and the lens was still popped out on one side, and I am still missing a piece of the frame that hold the lens in place... Never going back again. They used to be so much better

Most of the time people are rude. They dont answer the phone. It is just like you are interrupting their nap time most of the time. Half the time they cannot find the prescription when you get there even they are the ones that let us know they are in.

My prescription eye glasses continued to give me a headache after 5 different visits and their attempt to adjust. The prescription sunglasses were ok. After discovering there was plastic lenses in sunglasses and highend lenses in glasses my eyes dont like and that was the difference. Requesting plastic lenses in regular glasses was to complicated for optical department? The prescription glasses continue to give me continual headache and sunglasses are fine.

All the staff was great! Dr Tim explained my eye exam findings very thoroughly so I could understand what was going on with my eyes. Rose was fantastic helping me choose my glasses and explaining the fees to me! Thank you for the great eye exam!
