I have a 5 and 8 year old that have been going here for 2 years. My 8 year old has severe anxiety about doctors and dentists, but they make her feel comfortable and talk her through everything in a way she understands. They are patient and kind. My 5 year old told the hygienist that she loved her today, my heart melted. They have a great time. The office is clean and kid friendly. Wish they had adult dentists like this.

My daughter have been going to Dr. Backhaus for over 7 years, and she loves this office! Everyone is so welcoming and sweet, they make kids feel completely at ease. The office is super clean and modern, with modern equipment.

Everyone is always so nice and easy to talk to. They make my kids so comfortable while working on their teeth. My kids LOVE the dentist. Been taking my kids since my 11-yr old was a baby. Highly recommend.

I took my daughter for her first dental visit this week. She tends to be shy and nervous about new things, and her last comment when we left the house was Im a little scared. At the end of the visit, her last comment was Can we stay? From the moment she hopped in the chair, our hygienist Sue was fantastic; very welcoming and de-mystified everything. She had my daughter laughing and relaxed immediately, and the check-up / cleaning was a breeze. The other hygienist and dental assistants were equally warm and immediately ready to help out to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. And Dr. Backhaus was just as great with my daughter, who needed no time to warm up to her. She sat with us, gave us information, answered my questions and never rushed to move on. I had to resist the urge to ask her questions about my own teeth because of how warm and relaxed the environment was. On top of that the facilities were modern and clean and comforting for children. I very rarely write reviews, especially after one encounter, but I really was so happy this was my daughters first experience. She kept asking when can I come back, and then gave me a sad face when I said 6 months. : )

My experience at this office has always been positive ! The staff treat us like family ! They are loving ,caring , patient and kind to my special needs brother . Lisa and Dr Backhaus are exceptional working with Joey . I would highly recommend this office !

We just moved to NJ and I was hoping to find a place that would make my kids feel comfortable. Dental work at any age can be worrisome but everyone here makes you feel at ease. They go above and beyond to learn about the patients and talk to them and explain every step. My son suffers from anxiety and they put him at ease right away and seem to genuinely care. They are great.

My daughter has been seeing Dr.Backhaus since she was 4. Now at 8, she actually enjoys going to the dentist because of how great the staff is with her. Lisa and Dr.Backhaus are absolutely the best!

Cant say enough good things about this office. Went here when I was a kid and Dr. Sherman was there and decided to take my kids here. Dr. Backhaus is wonderful and a great dentist! My children have been patients since Dr. Sherman owned the practice back in 2003. Dr. Overcash and Dr. Backhus took over after his retirement and it’s been just as wonderful of an experience! The front desk ladies Eleanor especially are so accommodating and pleasant. The hygienist are like family to my kids. My kids have been through braces as well and it’s just has been an overall great stress free experience! My daughter is now 19 and refuses to leave, “I’m staying here forever” is her exact words! The staff made my daughters first dental visit a success. I was so nervous going into the visit because my daughter hates going to the doctor and even though she cried a little while we were there, the staff was patient, caring and tried their best to make her happy. Having a child that needs a little more attention and patience this practice checked all the boxes and then some. Dr. B knows exactly how to talk to kids and parentsfor that matter . Her and the entire staff are a class act!! One thing we left another pediatric practice that seemed to have all the bells and whistles...yet it was so big you child was not remembered or given the proper attention this is not the case here. So grateful a good friend referred us !

First off love the Office design clean, modern and very kid friendly. Doctor and staff are some of the best. Always makes my daughter feel extra special. I enjoy seeing my daughter light up knowing she has a dentist appointment.

I cannot day enough about the staff at Central Jersey!!!!! They are so kind, so gentle and on my son’s level. Every step of his cleaning was explained to him so he would understand. He wasn’t scared at all. The hygienist said repeatedly that she could not believe he was only 2.5 years old as he did everything she asked him. I attribute that partially to my son but partially to her kid friendly techniques. Dr. B is awesome as well! Also extremely kid focused and genuine. The office was recently renovated and it is immaculate, modern and inviting!

My four year old has been coming here since she was 1.5. We just had a recent check-up this week. On the way home, she asked if we could go back for another teeth cleaning the next day. The hygienists and Dr. Backhaus truly are amazing. They are patient, kind, caring, and love on my kids so well during those short cleanings.

Our family loves this practice. The dental hygienists are always friendly, while also teaching the kids about taking care of their teeth in a warm, age-appropriate way. Dr. Backhaus is kind and professional. My son even looks forward to waiting in the fun waiting area.

Dr Backhaus has always been excellent with my children over the past 11 years. She answers all my questions and thoroughly explains things, as well as making my children comfortable with treatments/exams by explaining what she is going to do so they understand. The hygienists are also excellent with showing the tools they will use and what they are using them for. When my child screamed through to entire visit, the hygienist kept completely calm and continued to show my child what she will be doing and cleaned her teeth. I really appreciate the quality of care given to my kids.

Our family has been coming to this office for 16 years. We are always greeted with our names and the staff knows each one of my children. We have a son with autism. This staff -- from the front desk to the hygienist to Dr. Backhaus -- have always been very good with him, being able to read his mood and anticipate what it is that he wants (he is non-verbal). Over the years they have helped him progress from a limited tolerance of teeth cleaning to being relaxed and willing to let the hygienist do her work without the help of any restraints or medication. Today for the first time, he evenly allowed the hygienist to take X-rays. We highly recommend this practice.

There is always the most pleasant staff at Central Jersey Pediatric Dentistry! We’ve been going since my daughter was 3, and now she is16! I’ve never had a bad experience!

Perfect place for childrens dental care! Fun waiting area for the kids, but plan to arrive early if you want to use it because patients are seen on time. Staff is very personable and work to make sure the kids are comfortable. Dentists are very knowledgeable and also great with the kids.

We have been going here since my now 17 year old was small. The hygienists are all positive and gentle. Both Dentists are great, having an ortho and dental practice is perfect for us. We got a discount on braces based on being a prior customer. Office staff is excellent!

I have been using this office for many years. They are polite, caring, and explain all procedures. Last year our plan did not accept this office and we had to change to another provider which we were unhappy about. We made sure that this year we picked a plan the office covered and are glad to be back!

I have never seen my kids more excited to go to a medical professional than when I tell them were heading to the dentist. We all absolutely love the thoughtfulness of the staff, attention to detail and genuine care, they give to their patients. The waiting room is like a kids play palace with lo-fi to hi tech options. The facility overall is brand new and spotless. Their staff is quick, resourceful and gracious. I joked that I spent more time talking to the staff today in a conversational manner than actually paying attention to my kids. I love how gentle they were when my daughter was 10 month old and how straight they are now with my 7 year old. There is so much care put into this practice and we as patients appreciate it. We absolutely LOVE this dentist office!!! All the staff are so friendly, attentive, and professional! My daughter actually gets excited to go to the dentist! She is able to play games in the waiting room before she goes in. Then watches television while the hygienist and dentist gently clean and check out her teeth. We travel an hour just to come here, thats how GREAT they truly are! We have been visiting this office for the past 8 years and will continue until they tell me my daughter is to old to come back!

I have been going to this practice since I was a little girl. I have never had any issues with them at all. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and the doctors always spend a decent amount of time chatting to see how I am doing, aside from my teeth. They seem to genuinely care about their patients and always make sure Im comfortable while Im there. I cannot wait to bring my baby girl there for her first check up! Staff is just amazing. CJPD&O is great. All the people working there are pleasant and honest and Lisa and Eleanor are always accommodating and easy to talk to. The main webpage could use a little diversity but I wouldnt take my girls anywhere else to have their teeth taken care of.

Dr. Backhaus saw our son on an emergency basis this afternoon. She and her assistant, Alyssa, were very patient, professional, and compassionate to our son who was very nervous about going to the dentist. Hes also scheduled for a follow up appointment/treatment next Tuesday which is great -- that way hell start feeling better and on the mend ASAP. Eleanor, one of the scheduling coordinators, was also extremely helpful and patient regarding scheduling and payments. We really love this place!

I have been coming to see Dr. Backhaus since 2011. The staff is amazing with the kids. I have 6 kids and they actually look forward to coming to have their teeth cleaned. Dr. Backhaus is very caring and gives all her patients the attention they deserve. The new state of the art upgrade to the whole office is very nice.

I love everything about this office!!! I grew up with, and still have, extreme dental anxiety. I am so glad that my children will never experience the negative experiences I had as a kid. Everyone here is fantastic from the hygienists, to the Drs, assistants, and office staff. I can not say enough of good things; in fact we drive over 40 minutes just to stay with this office. My oldest has had numerous procedures and is currently in braces, and my youngest had an emergency visit. Dr. Backhaus and Dr. Overcash are thorough and explain everything. I highly recommend!!!!

The dentist was great! She made my children feel very comfortable and was very patient with them. My problem was with the office staff. To be fair, my situation is very complicated, but the issues that arose were out of my control. The way they handled everything was very unprofessional. I would not recommend this dentist office to anyone based on the staff alone.

She immediately felt comfortable in Dr. Backhaus care. Shes now 17, with a beautiful smile thanks to Dr. Backhaus and Dr. Overcash. We were new in the USA and after going through a number of dentists - almost loosing hope - our insurance gave me Dr. Backhaus contacts. It was hard to get a dentist who would see my 5 year old and after four unsuccessful visits and being turned away, it was soo refreshing to meet Dr. Backhaus and her team, they were very welcoming and did a great job on Ephraim. This has since been a home for my children. Jeremy’s visit was a tough one but Dr. Backhaus did not get tired of my endless calls when I needed help to ease his pain. I am forever thankful to the team truly.

I called today with my childs emergency and I was told that there was no appointment until next week or they will maybe try tomorrow. This is what I get for bringing my kids to the office for the last 12 years.
