Dr. Kelly and his staff are awesome!! His protocol after hip surgery is easy to follow with minimal and sensible rules- He’s perfected his technique and recovery regimen after many years of experience including his own two hip replacements. I was able to drop the heavy painkillers almost immediately after the operation and just take Tylenol while icing. Celebrated my one year anniversary in August and I don’t even think of my operated hip any more as I can do anything I want physically- hiking, cycling, skiing, etc. Should I ever need my other hip replaced, I only hope that Dr Kelly is still working!!

If I could rate Dr. Scott S. Kelley higher than FIVE STARS, Id rate him at 100 STARS! I had my hip replacement surgery two months ago, and the chronic hip joint pain that I had was gone the moment I woke up from my surgery! I still have the normal recovery pain, but this pain is nothing compared to the four plus years of pain I have been living with on a daily basis. Its amazing how quickly I am recovering from my surgery. The reason for my awesome recovery is because I had a superb Orthopedic Surgeon who used the Anterior method. I definitely recommend this method, especially since I had my lower back fused as a teenager. I am very happy that I got a second opinion that brought me to Dr. Kelley who is an expert with cases like mine.The procedures that Dr. Kelley has setup in his practice make your surgery go very smoothly. He has a special team of people that know what they need to do to help you get through the the process easily. They can answer any question(s) you may have regarding anything. Each person knows what they need to do, and it frees up Dr. Kelley, so that he can focus on your surgery.I highly recommend him to do your hip or knee replacement surgery. Im currently 54 years old, and I pray I wont need my other hip replaced anytime soon, but I am elated to know that I have a reliable and renown Orthopedic Surgeon like Dr. Kelley in the Raleigh area available to me to contact in the future.Thank you again Dr. Kelley.

I had total hip replacement surgery in February. Dr. Kelley and his team were terrific. Each visit to the clinic was informative and all questions were answered before we left.Dr. Kelleys skill was exceptional. Dr Kelley did my total knee replacement. Its clear that he does this work to help people. The surgery went very well. I was amazed at the low level of pain post surgery. I attribute this to the skill of the surgeon, his staff, and the nerve block. At first I was very uncomfortably and a complete fall risk, but the pain was tolerable and I didnt need opioids. Dr. Kelleys approach to recovery is very specific and gets good results. The back pain I had before the surgery is gone now and I can walk without a limp. So grateful. I have my life back.

Dr. Kelley did my hip replacement 7 weeks ago and I truly feel like a new person. I have had zero to minimal pain and only took pain medication for a few days post op. I had a seamless experience with Dr. Kelley and his entire team. I’m six weeks out from a total hip replacement and couldn’t be happier. From the beginning, Dr. Kelley and his team were friendly and professional. After suffering for 18+ years with a total knee replacement that was not done correctly by another orthopedist, Dr. Kelley performed a complete 2nd replacement in January of this year. Dr Kelley is an excellent surgeon and I wouldnt trust anyone else to work on my hips and knees. Jamie Messersmith is very special. One more enthusiastic thumbs up for Dr. Kelley! I had my hip replaced about 2 months ago and Im amazed at how quickly and easily I recovered. Dr. Kelley and his team give clear, concise instructions for post-surgery care and returning to regular activities, and when I had questions, I would submit them through MyChart and always get an answer quickly. At my 6-week hip checkup, I mentioned that my knee was bothering me from having to use it so much the first couple of weeks after surgery, and they offered to x-ray the knee and do a cortisone shot during the appointment, which was so far above and beyond my typical experience with orthopaedic offices.

I am seven weeks post hip replacement. I have been pain free since my hospital discharge. I am up and walking around with no assistance. Dr Kelley and his entire team were the best. Their knowledge and responsiveness to every question i had was excellent. They worked hard to accomodate my being a long distance away for appointments and post surgery. I look forward to any interactions with them. Shout out to the Duke Regional Hospital folks as well. Their PT and OT staff really helped me get off to a great recovery. Thanks to all!!

This is my second hip replacement. If you want a world class surgeon and surgery he is your man. He also has a great staff that works with him. Jamie who is his right hand man is great. I definitely would look no further.

THE BEST. I cannot rave enough about Dr. Kelley and Jamie and his entire operation. My wife has dementia and the surgical plan for her knee replacement was excellent. We were advised on each step and all my questions were answered. The bottom line is the successful surgery by Dr. Kelley has my wife walking with NO pain. Highly recommend this team.

My hip surgery was a remarkable nonevent! Dr. Kelly and his staff prepared me so well with information as well as providing me with crutches weeks before the surgery to help with walking and to learn how to use them. (Genius!)I have never had the first pain since surgery. Sure, I was sore and achy, but No Pain! I walked many times at the hospital after surgery and went home the following morning with absolutely no pain and no restrictions. My recovery has been remarkable! I am now at the six week mark and forget most days that I ever had a Hip problem much less a Replacement. I am so thankful to be Dr. Kellys patient!

Dr. Scott Kelley has been my orthopedic surgeon for quite some time. He has replaced both my hips in the past years and my left knee six weeks ago. I cant say enough about what a wonderful surgeon he is. My recovery from all my surgeries have been great. I am still going for OPT for my knee but the physical therapist couldnt get over how well I was doing on my initial visit. At this point the knee coming along nicely. I have recommended Dr. Kelley to MANY friends and acquaintances and will continue to do so. Also a plug for James Messersmith Dr. Kelleys PA-C. He also has been wonderful over the years. I have had both hips replaced within the past year, both by Dr. Kelley. I have said before that I could be placed on a billboard smiling with a DOUBLE THUMBS UP for the work Dr. Kelley and team did. I am 8 weeks out from the 2nd hip (right) replacement and I am already golfing. I worked the day of my surgery and was working full time two days after my surgery. I was pain free from the osteoarthritis, so I only had to deal with the incision pain and soft tissue damage. I was able to put full weight on both hips very quickly after surgery.My results may not be typical; however, from the reviews and recommendation from PA of another orthopedic surgeon at Duke, I would say that even the typical results of Dr. Kelley and his team will be exceptional as compared to other joint replacement surgeons.

Had hip replacement surgery Aug 2017. Dr Kelley and his team were outstanding. Walked out of the hospital in 24 hrs. My recovery has been very smooth and with minimal pain. The muscle sparing procedure used by Dr Kelley is the way to go if you need a hip replacement. I felt better immediately after the procedure. They have the process down. The videos produced by Dr. Kelley answer most questions and tell you what to expect.

Dr. Kelley and his team provided the best experience that Ive had in our healthcare system. My surgical outcome is terrific and the patient education and communication throughout the process was excellent. Without any type of warning, I started to experienced excruciating hip pain causing difficulty in getting up from a chair, getting in and out of a car/golf cart, even walking short distances. As an active senior citizen, scheduling a reasonable consultation and surgical date was concerning; until I contacted Dr, Kelley’s office.Receiving positive feedback from members of my community, in addition to reviewing medical references, I was fortunate to get an appointment with Dr. Kelley’s. What impressed me during our initial discussions, in addition to his excellent surgical background, I was able to express my concerns directly to Dr. Kelley, instead of an intermediary. Shortly after his medical assessment, he asked me a pointed question; “how is your current condition affecting your life-style”? After conveying my thoughts and concerns; within two weeks I was scheduled for a pre-op at Duke Regional. Eight weeks from my surgical date, I’m back to my normal routine (in moderation of course – doctors’ orders), and pain free.I like to close by conveying my sincerest appreciation to Kelley staff; The front desk receptionists - always friendly and accommodating. 1st knee was done Dec. 11 2018. 2nd knee done March 11, 2019. Some may think too quick, but with Dr. Kelley and staff, things couldnt be better. Videos and consultation along the way are right on the money. PA Jammey Mesmersmith , Emily & Adrian are a great team. Every step of the way, messaging back and forth, I was never left in the dark. Responses were very quick and to the point. They always have time for questions. This team has it down to a science. Perfection!

Today is the one year anniversary of my double knee replacement by Scott Kelley, MD. Having these new knees has really been a life changer for me. I chose Dr. Kelley to do this procedure because of his strong reputation combined with his amazing post operative statistics for long term non revision or replacement rates. But..as it turned out his compassion and that of his PA, Jamie Messersmith were equally as important as those things. I was originally scheduled to have my knee replacements done sequentially, as is the norm. But, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma 3 weeks before my first knee surgery was scheduled. It was determined that a delay in my myeloma therapy of 2 months was a reasonable risk to take and because I felt it would be really important to have healthy knees to stay active during my impending bone marrow transplant, I requested to have both knees done at the same time. Dr. Kelley and Jamie were not only willing to do this for me, but went out of their way to find a way to accomodate the OR time to make it happen...a very difficult thing to do at short notice! The surgery went beautifully and my new knees have perfect alignment now..something they didnt have previously. Having been a radiologist prior to my retirement, I can attest to this on the post op X-rays!! After two months of healing and therapy I was able to proceed with my myeloma therapy without any problem and today I not only have amazing new knees without any issues, but am also in remission...and enjoying my newfound ability to take long walks, long bike rides and live life to the fullest, actively! I would highly recommend Dr Kelley and Jamie Messersmith to anyone considering knee or hip replacement/surgery. Not only is Dr. Kelley surgically gifted, but he and Jamie are amazing people as well. I cant think of a better or more appropriate 5 star recommendation than this one!Becky Kennedy
