Had very unprofessional customer experience at this location.1. Received multiple calls from the office ahead of the appointment, which werent appointment reminders, but (1) request to provide vision insurance (which as I have checked isnt necessary to have a visit) (2) question whether Im coming today (a polite reminder would be so much nicer!).2. A procedure, which is NOT medically necessary was conducted without informing that the procedure is not medically necessary (and thus would not be filed for insurance). The official procedure description states Not medically necessary service (patient is aware that service not medically necessary). Definitely wasnt aware.3. Moreover, after providing the health insurance information and confirming the relatively small amount due today + confirming that the office will file with medical insurance, was charged the FULL amount instead with a print-out that no insurance is present on file.

I just called this place because I had a good experience with Raleigh but this was closer to my job. She answered and was very short. Provided no information when I said I wanted a pair of glasses. Usually you greet and say how may I help, explain, give the information needed, all that stuff. I mean if I say I need glasses you’d think they ask the appropriate questions in order to help get the customer get what they need. I was going to come in to get my glasses but by the way she couldn’t even say thank you or your welcome she seemed all too good to answer the phone. Whoever is working answering the phone today 7/24/2021 12pm get someone else to answer calls. Someone who knows what they’re doing and is willing to help the customers.

I’ve been their patient for more than 10 years. I get my annual eye exam usually in June but they scheduled me July 26th. On the day of my appointment, after I confirmed it so many times, I got a call in the morning of my appointment that the doctor called in sick, so my appointment was cancelled. Ok, I understand. People get sick, etc. So I booked for another appointment. I had to wait for another month, August 23rd. Same thing, called me to confirm my appointment, which I did twice. On the day of my appointment, the doctor called in sick again. Really? If I were to cancel on the day of my appointment I could be charge since it’s less than 24 hours. What about me? Twice I got cancelled less than 24 hours, what do I get? I only go to this location because of their optometrist, I like her. But I guess I can’t depend on them anymore. It’s time to find a new one.

I have been trying to get an appointment before vacation in February to get contacts - I was told by one rep to just call every day and see if their are any cancellations and appointments were weeks out. So of course I did... BUT The next day I called and JODI IN THE COM CENTER answered. She said she would make a note to contact me with any cancellations and OMG did she take the initiative to remember. Not even two days later she found me an appointment for tomorrow. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR INTEGRITY! I work in Customer Service myself and it is hard to find good people who just take the time to do what she did. Plus she sounds like she loves what she does! KEEP THE PASSION AND KEEP BEING YOU GIRL! ROCK ON!!!!PS- Normally I do not write reviews and she definitely did not ask me to, but she deserved a 5 star review! THANKS AGAIN JODI IN THE COM CENTER!

Where to begin ... I would give the office staff 0 stars if I could. Essentially, they made a mistake and misquoted me on a pair of glasses that I actually fully returned the next day or so. Yet, their mistake became my problem saying that I owe more money on something I completely returned! I spoke with Charity about it and instead of actually solving the problem, she gave me the Im sorry this is frustrating for you and I will contact such and such and let you know ... never heard from her again about it and now they are threatening me to turn me over to a collection agency for the money that I do not owe! Kristi, if you read this ... wow. You lost my business! Horrible way to treat your customers! Your office staff should provide accurate information on how much insurance covers. Instead, they give you inaccurate information and before you know it, you owe more money for a pair of glasses. Have you ever considered that maybe I would have gone for a different pair if I had the accurate price to being with??? Further, I returned the glasses!!! Please, anyone who reads this, it also happened to my daughter at this exact location. They have consistently told us that our insurance covers more than it should so that they can push more expensive glasses out to you and then send you a bill a month or so later ... Then, Charity blames it on the confusing insurance plan ... NO! Its their fault! Go to another doctors office! I am for certain.

Unethical and unprofessionalMe and my wife ordered one pair of glasses each in November 2019. Both the glasses were not as per prescription. We had to return them and they issued refund that check will be mailed within 30 days. I have visited 3 times and my wife visited 2 times as the check was never received. Every time they say the manager or account person will call and now it has been 6 months and even today 6.17.2020 I called and the receptionist said The manager will call you back I would not recommend such business with unethical business practices and lets see how the owner responds to this.

This was the worst eye glass buying experience I have had over the 20+ years of wearing glasses. I went there just for the glasses. The one star I would give them is for the selection of frames they have - which is a personal preference, but I liked their frame selection. But the service staff is extremely incompetent. I was served by what seemed like their most senior person, Ruth. I ordered the glasses early December, they said it will be ready in 2 to 3 weeks. Over 2 weeks go by and I dont hear anything - I call them and she tells me that they had put the wrong prescription and had to re-order. Two more weeks later I go to pickup the glasses, and theyre the wrong frames! She doesnt even check and tries to slide it to me - until I question it. They let me have the wrong frames until they reorder the right ones, which was good. Two weeks later I finally get my glasses - and they keep the other pair. I thought they would let me have it for the hassle they put me through. Almost 6 weeks, 3 visits, and $250 - not even courtesy from them for their mistakes. Never going here again.

The office manager was helpful in sorting out the best way to reduce the cost of my contacts. The person who helped me in the office (not the office manager) accidentally misquoted the rebate amount. When I called to order the contacts a few days later, I found out the true, lower amount of the rebate and asked the office to honor the higher amount Id been told the previous week. The office manager was able to apply a price match to reduce the cost even lower than I expected it would be with the incorrect rebate amount.

I have a phobia of getting my eyes touched/dilated/etc. and have had panic attacks at the optometrist before in the past and was always made to feel like there was something wrong with me because of it. Ive been seeing Dr. Raess and the team here for about 4 years now and they have been amazing each time. The team is very understanding of my phobias and allow me to opt out of the procedures that make me uncomfortable. Dr. Raess is wonderful about telling me what she is going to do to my eyes before she does it and getting my consent to touch near my eyes each time. The appointments are always quick and go smoothly and I am never disappointed! I have not had a phobia-induced panic attack here once. :)

Worst optometrist visit Ive ever had. While the staffers themselves were genuinely nice, the optometrist (Dr.Raess) was shockingly pedantic and aggressive. Despite her realizing by the end how badly the visit had been and trying to make amends, the damage was already done. At one point she turns to me and says I dont want to take care of you the next visit to which I replied the feeling was absolutely mutual! In fact, Im never going back and will be warning everyone I know not to stay away. Additionally, I didnt like the fact that I was pushed into getting both contact and glasses exams when I only planned on paying the copay for one. I was told this was required, and is something I will be discussing with my insurance provider to confirm and give them a heads up about this business shady practices.

Stay away from this location unless youre looking to kill an afternoon and be in no rush for your new glasses. Actual eye exam and eye doctor were fine; everything else not so much. A 20 minute wait for my scheduled appointment I can deal with. The ordering and paying of new glasses took 90 minutes!! I picked out frames in 10 minutes and then sat for 80+ minutes while the employee got the measurements, etc. & trying to figure out my insurance. He was obviously very new because he knew nothing about the insurance - I had to tell him how it worked. Total time spent at this appointment was 2+ hours and it takes 2 weeks to get the glasses. Received an email and a text that glasses were ready; come pick up. 2 days later I go to pick up and was told they were not ready. Are you kidding me?? Wasted another hour for nothing. I will never go here again.

This place has 100% lost my business. While I do like my actual eye doctor, most of the other people on staff have proven themselves to be pretty incompetent. After my eye appointment, they asked if I wanted to try on any other glasses or just keep my own. I loved my glasses but decided to try some other options just in case. I started browsing and then a woman came up to me and started insulting my current glasses and saying how outdated and unfashionable they looked and kept trying to push me into new frames. I was finally able to get her to stop pushing things on me and said I just wanted my new prescription in my old glasses. They took them to the back and when they tried to take the lenses out they broke the frames. I started crying because I was already in a sour mood from this woman insulting me, and now after deciding I didnt like any of the glasses there, mine were broken and I was forced to get a new pair. The woman kept trying to rub my back and touch me and wouldnt leave my personal space and kept saying over and over again youre okay youre fine this isnt a big deal.Anyway, a manager from another store named Nicole happened to be there and she was lovely and helpful and I ended up going to her location in Brier Creek and found new frames I didnt mind. Nicole said she was going to personally drive to the Southpoint location to get my lenses when they were in and then take them back to Brier Creek to get them cut and put into the new frames.I got a text this morning that they were ready at the Southpoint store. I called them to ask if they were there or at Brier Creek and the lady on the phone said they were at Southpoint. So I drove to Southpoint today and they all looked at me like I was an idiot and said they were in Brier Creek. I told them I had specifically called to verify and they said Oh it must have been a mistake. No apology, no taking responsibility. So, Nicole from Brier Creek is great. Everyone at the Southpoint store needs some lessons in customer service. Dont try to bully your customers into buying new glasses, dont touch them, dont BREAK their glasses, dont belitte their reactions, and dont tell them their glasses are at your store when theyre actually across town.

To echo what many other reviewers have said - great doctor, rest of the experience is lacking. There seems to have been a complete turn over in staff in the last 12-18 months. To be fair, I did not experience a lot of upselling as some have reported, the person helping me select lenses and glasses kept me in the middle of the road range that I have had in the past. However, after that things became much less smooth. I ordered new frames and also asked for the new prescription to be put into my existing frames. The new frames came in about as promised (2 weeks) and I dropped off the old frames to have the lenses replaced. That was an adventure as people kept going into back rooms and then gave me the frames that I had just turned in. We finally got that sorted out (a process that took way too long) and I left with the new frames and they kept the old ones. A week or two later, I got a call saying that someone had put my frames on the hold shelf, but the caller understood that I wanted some kind of credit for them? I explained that no, they were supposed to be get the new prescription and that I had already paid for that. Long pause, time on hold and finally the caller came back on the line and said they would send them off. After a couple of more weeks, called for an update, since no one had kept me informed. Was then informed that my glasses were in and I could pick them up.Again, very pleased with the doctor, less so with the rest of the operation. Next year I will seriously consider getting my exam there and purchasing glasses elsewhere.

This location is terrible! I will be cancelling my appointment... if I can ever actually get a hold of anyone on the phone. Your operating hours are CLEARLY listed on the internet as well as the phone. To inform someone you will be contacting them back in a few hours who is truly in need of their contacts, then not calling them back is horrible business. I waited and waited, then decided to call them back 2 hours prior to their COB, only to reach their voicemail stating they were outside of business hours. What a joke ! Then I tried to contact them for 45 minutes beginning at 10 am sharp (when they are supposed to be open) the next day. It rang and rang and rang then went to the same familiar message. This seems to be a trend at this location from the reviews I have read. This is sad, because I truly do like Eye Care Associates. I went to their location in Wilmington NC and loved it. Then after re-locating to the Durham area, I found them. Long story short, the High House Rd location answered and quickly resolved my issue. My suggestion is call the other location(s)...they actually answer the phone.

I will never go back!!! Ive gone here for years and me and my kids have filled many eyeglass prescriptions there. The doctors are always great but I will simply never return to this place as long as someone named Candice works there. She was extremely rude and condescending. She obviously has no idea what customer service is and how it impacts repeat business. There are many eyeglass doctors to go to in Durham, and most likely all of the doctors are pretty good. But its how the staff treats you that make you decide to come back or not. Obviously, Candice has not learned that.

2 years in a row I had issues with my glasses from this office. And recently I needed them to help me when I tore my last contact, but they would not. It should be about my vision, not their profits. The 1st year, an astigmatism was added to my glasses prescription (without my knowledge) and they were blurry. I was told Id get used to it and I dealt with it too long to get them fixed. So I used my old glasses. What a waste of money. The 2nd year, I picked out some frames, waited, and picked up my glasses...they were blurry and hurt my head. I was again told Id get used to it, but I fought it this time. I was asked to take them home and try them, which I did. Then they remade them. Still blurry. Finally, I called my previous eye doctor - in another state or Id go to them! - and they told me the frames I picked are too wide for my prescription and they wouldnt have let me get them. As associate at the My Eye Doctor should have known this and told me - what is the point of them helping with frame decisions if they dont know this information? I returned them. Then, just a few days ago, I realized I was on my LAST contact and overdue for an appointment. This is my fault, yes, as I had to cancel my appointment when I was sick and forgot to reschedule. I ripped the last one...the morning I was about to fly out of state for 6 days. I called and asked for ONE contact to get me through the trip and said Id make an appointment for when I returned. I told them I was leaving in 3 hours and it was kind of an emergency. I was told theyd have to ask the doctor (which is fine) and call me back. 4 hours later, as I was waiting to board my plane, they called me back and told me they wont give me any contacts because I need my yearly exam. I KNOW I need my exam. I said Id schedule it. This was an emergency basis where I needed ONE contact - I wasnt asking for even a pair! (also, my prescription has been the same for 15 years except for when doctors here changed it...and then had to change it back). Instead of having a new contact, I wore an EXPIRED contact (that I found in my makeup bag) for that whole trip. This was a simple request that they could have easily helped with, but instead they wanted their money and did not help AT ALL.I have asked them to take me off all their lists and I will not be returning.Edit 11/27/18: Although there is a response below, nobody ever reached out to me.

She also informed me of my options and associated timeframes for getting the repair done. She answered my questions professionally and clearly and was knowledgeable about what other locations in the area did carry Silhouette which may be able to provide a slightly quicker turn around for the repair. I have to admit it is disorganized in there. Its not always clear who was waiting for what. I was getting rung up when I realized some folks had been there the whole time just waiting to pick up glasses. Still, I cant help but have high regard for the opticians who did their best to shuffle people through, provide good service and feedback on eyewear, and manage the insurance all the while people were popping in 5min till close. They could use a better service delivery mechanism, but the service itself is quality. Ive had some horrendous experiences that took just as long but without anyone else being helped. And twice i have had it replaced due to scratches or poor perception with it; only to be given another 10 days later under warranty. My glasses that i got in Dec last year got a scratch on their lenses and when i approached myeyedr at southpoint for the issue to be fixed. I was in the store longer than necessary listening to the lady looking at my glasses invoice. It almost felt like i had an appointment rather than something that prior has taken me no more than 3 mins. In addition, later they emailed me stating that my glasses even though still under warranty would not be replaced. I am frustrated and i will never go to this location and any other myeyedr again. Ive only attended this clinic once (for a glasses and eye health exam) year ago so it seems absurd to leave a review, but I wish Id known what I was getting into ahead of time. When I arrived on time for my appointment I first had to wait for 8-10 minutes in the lobby. I was then taken in for the standard pre-exam prep and asked if Id like to also have a retinal exam for an extra $20+ - something that has always been included in the posted exam cost at other clinics Ive been to. After that I was shown into the exam room and waited for almost 30 minutes for the doctor to see me. I liked her, and she seemed extremely proficient and competent, but then was shown out to the glasses section where further attempts at upcharging ensued. I ordered new lenses for my existing frames, which took two weeks to arrive, and distinctly remember choosing not to schedule a yearly exam - my impression of the overall experience had been that it was overpriced, the repeated attempts to up-sell made me feel confused and pressured, and I simply dont have time to wait for over 30 minutes for scheduled appointments. This week, however, Ive received three phone calls and an email reminding me to confirm an appointment in two weeks that I scheduled at my last visit. I scheduled no such appointment, confirming that this clinic is a racket and not a place where I want to take my business. I know some people have had positive experiences here and I have no doubt that the doctors are qualified and competent, but the marketing and lack of patient courtesy is not my style - just thought others should be able to make an informed decision.

The doc himself was really good, and gave me some quick eye exercises to do at my cube that can help my eye strain and dryness. The ladies at the front were really great and helped me pick out a nice pair of Ray Bans, dealt with my insurance, and had a lot of patience adjusting my glasses when I picked them up (I was being am bit picky). I even had an issue with an uneven finish around the inside where the lens sits. At first I thought it was the lens, so they ordered me new lenses no questions asked. Then it turned out it was the frame, so they ordered me new frames, again, no questions asked. I like their text message system that lets me know of my appointments and when my lenses are in.
