Dr. Helton was personable and knowledgeable, answered all questions and didn’t make me feel rushed. She does not pull out a prescription pad at the first mention of a health issue, which I appreciated. I have heard that a lot of primary care physicians come and go in Durango — I hope she stays!

Dr. Helton and her staff were excellent and provided quick, comprehensive care. She addressed all of my questions and concerns including preventive care services, diagnostic services and referrals that I needed for ongoing medical issues.

Everyone was very professional yet friendly. My physician’s Assistant (P.A.-C) was easy to talk to, compassionate and very kind. She showed a lot of concern and changed one of my prescriptions to try a better one. She made me comfortable and showed confidence in treating my condition.

Was not impressed with misdiagnosis and got billed for it. OK. Didnt do the procedure and got billed again. Now that is to much. Billing department was very unhelpful! Not that good, not medicine, not professional, what I need was not that big of a deal but the staff was not able to pull it off. Probably lucky to get out of there before any damage was done. i know we are supposed to be all lovey with heath care workers but they sill have to do the job.

Dr Owens is by far the greatest Dr I have been to for primary care! I am fairly new, Ive seen him twice. He knows how to gauge his pace and cuts right to the chase. I was a medical assistant for 12 years so I know how important that is. His bedside manner is awesome, his knowledge is comforting. In fact, my mom is switching to him!

Dr. Wales is an awesome and caring doctor. He does his best and is good with his patients. Im glad to have him as my doctor. He explains things well and makes sure his patients understand! Would totally recommend him to friends and family!

I am not a new patient to Mercy Family Medicine, but am new to Dr. Micah Helton. As usual, I found the staff to be a well oiled, efficiently run enterprise. Meetiing a new doctor is always a little unsettling. But Dr. Helton was wonderful; she listened, advised without judgment, was very personable and knowledgeable. I had just received some potentially very upsetting news (via an article in WAPO, the Covid vaccine may much much less effective for individuals who are immune surpressed - my husband a kidney transplant recipient). Dr. Helton addressed those concerns with practical suggestions and put me a little more at ease. NO ONE my age (pushing 72 -yikes) looks forward to going to the doctor. But I am comfortable and confident in returning to this practice, and Dr. Helton

Today was a Meet & Greet with a New Doctor for me. Went in early 15 min, short wait, friendly Doctors assist, hardly no wait for Doctor. Was impressed and made to feel comfortable.

I was able to schedule a telehealth appointment, but the email to link to the provider would not open. However, the staff was very helpful and accommodating to get me setup with a phone call with Carrie Pedersen, NP. She was very thorough in her questioning of my health and explained the course I could take. I appreciated her knowledge and caring attitude.

Dr Manninen listened to my problem, evaluated possible remedies, and prescribed appropriate actions. She set up a follow-up appointment to review tests and make further remedies. I feel Dr. Manninen was thorough and caring and I am very satisfied with my care.

I feel like I have been completely let down by MFM. They epitomize everything that is wrong with corporate medicine. I have been suffering with medical issues since June. Failed referrals with no follow up, and total disregard to my needs for them to function as my primary care provider concerning insurance issues. Unreturned phone calls and now I have been completely dropped no contact going on 7 weeks. If my condition was worse I could be dead waiting for help getting to Mayo clinic or national Jewish ... They have a monopoly on the Durango market and its sad and wrong. Im done, and advise anyone reading this ... horrible experience, steer clear

Weve been with Mercy Family Medicine at Horse Gulch for just over 6 years. In that 6 years, we have had 3 caregivers leave this practice. Dont expect continuity of care by your caregiver. Appointments are very hard to get. I have had to call more than 3 months early to get an annual physical appointment. When my husband was sick and needed to see a doctor, he had to go to the hospital location to get a next day appointment because he couldnt get an appointment at Horse Gulch. Dont call at lunch - youll get a recording. As a matter of fact, you frequently wont be able to get an answer until 15 minutes after the recorded end of lunchtime. The practice put plexiglass walls in front of the receptionists a year or so ago so dont expect your information to be private as everyone in the lobby can now hear the questions and your answers as the plexiglass wall requires you to speak up. Finally, the restroom off the waiting room is always dirty. Dont use it. When it was off the building lobby, it was always clean, but it doesnt appear as if anyone cleans it anymore.

My experience with all the staff at this clinic and Dr. Helton was outstanding. Handled COVID protocol with ease and a happy, positive manner. I was seen on time and Dr. Helton took her time and I felt like she listened to me.
