What a life!! We tent camped. We loved it here so much that we extended our stay. Camping in grass was heaven. The facilities were very clean. The hosts were incredibly nice. The pool was perfect. We had cows near by grazing all day, Owls communicating at night and I felt so safe. The train is so close that the people wave as they go by. I promise this is not a mistake. I highly recommend this place. OH! Also the trolley for town stops right at the office. Easy peasy drive to town but also the trolley is good for a night of breweries.

After traveling all day, arrived to set up a tent. Nice area except we were so close to other tenters, it was like sleeping in a room with 2 double beds next to strangers. Even after I complained, we had tents less than 2 foot from mine. Guess they don’t believe in social distancing.

Stumbled upon this place while having transmission & engine overheating issues. The owners couldn’t have been nicer & accommodating to our situation. Allowed us to drop our equipment on site while we tried to make it to Silverton with a lighter load.Ended up staying since that didn’t appear to be the issue. Will return if ever in the area again.

A very well run campground. Clean facilities and they even water the roads to keep the dust down. Adequate RV sites to go along with a great dump station. Nice scenery and location to town. A trolly runs into Durango from the entrance of the camp in to a very hard to find parking spot to the downtown. Added perk of a built in alarm clock at 830 am via the train. We would return if ever back this way again.

We tent camped at the United Campground in Durango. This campground is perfect for train watchers as both the Silverton and Durango diesel and steam train run right through it! There are bathrooms and showers on site which are extremely clean as they are disinfected multiple times a day. The grounds are pristine and the camp sites are spaced out so there is privacy for each camper. There is a nice little shop that you stop at upon check in where you can buy souvenirs, camping items, etc. The owners and staff members are so kind. Staying at this campground and train watching was the best part of our time in Durango.

Perfect place for camp in Durango: super close to downtown and restaurants. We stayed 2 nights and were own away by how well kept this place is. They rotate camping sites daily to take care of the lawn, their restrooms and showers are spotless and the pool is cleaned and covered every night. We actually extended our stay here because it was so pleasant. You get great bathrooms, beautiful views, nature and animals surrounding you, a heated pool, WiFi (didnt work well for us though) and the best: You get to wave at the Narrow Gauge train from Durango to Silverton maybe 2 or 3 times a day. Its definitely a highlight and not disturbing. Pets and children welcome! Well definitely be back!

I called and reserved a site for three night, and they mailed me a brochure with a small sticker showing I had paid a deposit consisting of the first nights fee. However, when I arrived at the campground, they had no record of my reservation or payment. Fortunately, I had scanned the brochure and receipt and had it available as a PDF file on my phone. There were three people in the office and two of them were nice and friendly. The third one was checking me in. Even through my reservation showed three nights and I had mentioned at least a couple of times that I was staying three nights, she presented a bill for only one additional night. When I repeated that I had a reservation for three nights, she told me that Id told her I was staying for two nights and acted like I was putting her out for having to redo the charges. At that point, I told her that I didnt like her attitude and Id save her the trouble by just staying two nights. After I finally got checked in and unhooked by tow vehicle, I drove down the steep hill behind the office and found my (also steep) site. It was a drive-through site, but barely long enough to fit my 36 motorhome without the tow vehicle. As other reviews had mentioned. the sites are very narrow. One of my slideouts is no more than three feet from an adjacent travel trailer that doesnt even have a slideout! And even though their website and brochure say that they are located on the banks of the Animas River, the river is not visible from the campground and there is posted private property separating it from the river.Ive stayed in campgrounds that were a lot worse, but I never paid nearly as much to do so as this campground charges. And their website makes no mention of that fact that the fee doesnt include sales taxes. The list of rules covers everything from a prohibition on crossing the train tracks to walk your dog to leaving your pets unattended. How many of us leave their pets in their RV for an hour or three while they go out for dinner or a casino? Finally, they provide dumpsters for your trash, but the steel lids are so heavy that lots of people give up an just leave their trash bags on the ground. I cant blame them.

This is a tough one. The grounds and facilities are nice. Everything is well kept. People were friendly. Family friendly campgrounds. If that is what youre looking for, then go for it. If you are looking for an inkling of solitude, views, reasonable pricing for tenting, this is not it.However this is based on my expectations and budget for camping so I will not give a bad rating. For tenting you are placed mere feet from your neighbors, practically sharing picnic tables and a few feet of grass. You can see and hear everyone. It is one of the most bizarre camping situations Ive seen.It really boggles my mind that people think this a good value. Ill assume they have never gone to a nice state park or Hipcamp listing or something similar. Nothing particularly bad but nothing particularly good or exciting other than the location.

Great campground! Just bring ear plugs if your tent camping. People at the office were nice and gave us a good recommendation for where to go rafting. The tent site was nice, flat and had a tree which helped during a hot summer. Bathrooms were good and clean. Only thing is that between the cows and the train that runs at night, it isnt always quiet, which is why I recommend ear plugs. The view from the tent sites is really nice. I definitely recommend this campground. Also, they let us reserve the pool for an hour which was nice. Lots of good things, just bring ear plugs if you tent camp.

Made a last minute reservation and fortunately they had a 2-night stay available after our long drive. The lady was super nice on the phone and in person to check us in. They were practicing COVID strictly and we appreciated that. We had spot 69 (electric and water only) looking across a lot of RVs but it was still nice. We even made pool reservations which I loved since we did not have to share the small pool with others due to the virus. (This should stay a standard.) So nice after a long bike ride into town. The site is very clean, shady and the river and pasture area is great to look at. Tent campers have an awesome location in a tree grove, best I have ever seen. We did not find river access there but it is close by in a new river front park trail. Would love to come back.

Nice campground. Great location, friendly staff, clean restrooms. Only negatives are the Wi-Fi is awful - do not rely on it if you are planning to work remotely or attend virtual school. We had to use our Verizon phones as hotspots to have reliable connectivity. Sewer hookups are also very recessed into the ground - I could not get a full seal with a 90 degree elbow so there was some smell leaking out. Several neighbors had the same issue so I dont think its isolated to our spot.

Staff was extremely rude immediately upon arrival. I’ve seen many other complaints in the comments about the rude woman at the front desk. Repeatedly questioned if I was “partying” or inviting more campers, despite me telling them it was only me and my two sons trying to have a quiet vacation. Map of site shows river, after they collect your money they inform you there is no river access. Another camper ran over my sewage line. Front desk woman said she’d call them and didn’t, then denied saying it and was again very rude to my son. Small, tight spaces; can hear everything your neighbors do. Very bad WiFi. Loud train passes through daily, blowing whistle within feet of your camp/rv site. Paid for parking an extra vehicle and had to park a hundred yards or more away from my rv. Decent location, but I would recommend ANY RV park in the area over this one.

Our little guy was elated when they arrived today. I appreciate their willingness to make that happen! We were able to take the last two spots they had available. The sites were very large, bathrooms were clean and the pool was a huge perk. Prices are very high but relative for the area.
