It was my first visit there. I called in the early morning because I had a horrible toothache. They had me in there by 10:00am. I met with the dentist (Dr. Dorantes) and unfortunately I had an infection and the tooth needed to come out immediately. I was referred to an oral surgeon, to get in the same day. They apologized that they weren’t able to take care of it there. Everyone was so nice, which I really appreciated, because I am terrified of going to the dentist. All in all, it was a very positive experience and I 100% recommend Des Moines Dental Center!

I’ve been to this dentist office 4 or 5 times just this year (after neglecting my dental care for years). The dentists are kind and respectful. The receptionists are welcoming when I walk in, and remember me by name at this point lol. I have a ton of anxiety about the dentist. Everything about going just freaks me out a bit - but I feel comfortable here.

This was me and my son first time at the dental clinic. It was recommended on the Des Moines community group page. The staff and the dentist we saw was very nice and professional. They explained what was going on with our teeth, and services. Facility was clean.

Went in for a crown repair. I was not a regular patient, but rather an out of town relative to one of their patients. I was given an appointment, examined and given my options promptly. The repair work was completed quickly. All the staff persons were very friendly and helpful. I recommend them them highly.

I cracked my back tooth on Saturday and it was really sharp and hurting my mouth, I was able to get in Monday morning. I had great customer service with the ladies up front, my dental hygienist was wonderful and I really liked the dentist he asked me a lot of questions and gave me his recommendations then asked me what my priority was to take care of first. I really liked the 3D xray machine and how easy he explained the procedure to me.. Im looking forward to going back in 2 weeks, I would highly recommend this group of professionals.

This office is very professional. Service providers are thorough and kind. Dr Dorantes understood my issues completely. The fees seem to be average. Thay make all their crowns and implants in the office. We felt right at home.

By definition, excellence is a rare thing--only one person turns in the best time for the 100-yard dash.I’ve been “on suitcases”, as they say, for 41 years now by which I mean I’ve been working, studying, and playing on several continents and have seldom lived in one place for more than 9 months. Occasionally I need a good Dentist.Dr. Dorantes is the best Dentist I have ever encountered. He is clearly well trained and it’s a given that he is technically proficient. More than that, he sees each patient as a whole person. He has gathered and maintains a team of truly professional Assistants each of whom are capable of working autonomously and obviously share his vision. From the mundane to the complex, I can’t imagine a better place to have your dental work taken care of.Kudos to you and your team Doctor! Keep up the good work!

In the last few months Ive had two fillings done and had a wisdom tooth pulled. Every time the work has been quick, professional, inexpensive, and Ive had no followup issues. When I woke up with a bad toothache they were able to schedule work that day, and I was able to avoid a visit to an emergency dentist. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

Woke up with severe pain in my wisdom tooth one morning, Dr. Dorantes was able to get me in on very short notice and within a couple hours, they numbed me up and extracted that bad boy out in about 5 minutes, quick and easy. Whole staff is beyond friendly and welcoming. Most definitely will be returning

My experience at the Des Moines Dental Center has been great. Ive been going there for years and I like their modern approach to preventative care. Ive found that the hygienists are knowledgeable and I feel comfortable asking them questions about caring for my teeth at home. Dr. Dorantes is friendly and makes me feel at ease. Hes careful yet quick. I had to get two fillings replaced recently and it was over before I knew it. His assistant, Lisa, was great, too. Im always nervous when I know Im going to need a numbing shot and I worry for days in advance. Next time I wont worry because Dr. Dorantes was so careful and skilled that it was not painful or uncomfortable at all. I was really impressed!

This place is not as caring or understanding as they claim on their website. I cancelled my appt on the Friday before the following Tuesday and Thursday appts and was charged $150 no show fee. On Monday, they texted me back to ask me why I was unable to make my appt. I told them I was it due to work. They charged me a fee even though they were given more than 48 hours notice. They did not try to reschedule nor were they understanding about my work commitments and priorities. We are a retired military family that has lived in different cities and countries and I have never been charged a fee to cancel a medical appointment. We recently moved/retired to the area and we were looking for a local dentist office to call home. We will be taking our services elsewhere.

This was my first visit. They have a nice office and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The dentist was thorough and listened to my concerns. I will keep coming back.

I have had fears for my entire life about dentists but these guys are caring, communicative and gentle. I cant recommend them more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I was in search of a new Dentist when I came across Des Moines Dental Center while driving by. I took a chance and sent them an email showing interest in becoming a new patient. I got a reply fairly quickly and was scheduled that week. I went in and was greeted by Aimee, and knew I made the right choice. The staff makes you feel so comfortable and at ease. Dr D and his team are amazing! I have always been super nervous when going to the dentist but each time I have gone I was calm and at ease. Everyone is always smiling, friendly, helpful and very informative. Lei and Aimee at the front desk are always so helpful and fun to talk to. They always greet you by your name and ask how youre doing. The little things make a difference! From the front end of the office, to the Drs their DAs and the hygienists everyone is absolutely amazing! So so glad I found them :)

Excellent staff and service! Ive been looking for a dentist office for quite some time but nothing really stood out. There are so many other offices in my area but this office was screaming my name! I brought my kids there for the first time and they convinced me to get serviced as well. Fast forward, Lets just say my family is now one of the newest families for this office. We love their high energy, the smiles, the service we get but we especially love that their knowledge of everything that has to do with dental care is outstanding! I have been seeing Dr. Dorantes for years. He is the best Dentist I have ever had and very good at what he does and genuinely cares about his patients. He even calls his patients later in the day to follow up with them and make sure they are doing ok, after he has done dental work. His staff is great as well! Couldnt ask for a better Dentist!

Make sure you check your billing and statements. The office seems super sweet until they mess up and don’t bill your secondary insurance ten months later. Then you get the run around.

I had a deep cleaning and it was the best experience i have had at a dentist. I was cold and they gave me a blanket. I also was able to listen to pandora music while getting my service. Then a hot towel to wipe my face at the end.I felt like a could of took a nap.All staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.Would recommend to anyone in the area.

The service isn’t bad but wow they are trying to make up for the pandemic. My son came in for a routine cleaning and they charged him $25 extra for “PPE” which is basically some face masks and sanitation cause of the pandemic.

I had moved to recently to Des Moines and was looking for a new dental clinic. I had been with my previous dental practice for over 26 years and was 52 years old before I had my first cavity. I like to support my local businesses and did a lot of research before trying Des Moines Dental. I can say that this practice deserves all of the positive reviews it gets.Your experience starts as soon as you walk in and you are greeted by Aimee and Lei who make up Team Awesome Girls. They are always friendly, efficient, and ready to assist you with the check-in process. I was taken to the back right on time with minimal waiting.I feel everyone goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable as soon as you sit in the chair. You get a headset playing the music of your choice, are offered various flavors of cleaning paste, and you are told exactly what is happening every step of the way. Dr. Reeves has a kind demeanor and took the time to visit with me a bit the first time we met. I appreciated his professionalism and attention to detail. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone.

I got my dental implants yesterday and I love them! I really appreciate the attention to my health and happiness that I receive at this office. The email appointment reminders mean that I dont have to tape little cards to the front door so that I dont forget. Such a convenience. The office is clean and the atmosphere is friendly. I initially found this clinic after researching reviews on Yelp and Google. The reviews were overwhelming positive and I knew that Dr. Reeves dental practice would be a great fit for me and my teeth.Scheduling was painless and I didnt have to wait too long to have my first visit. The clinic is located near the Des Moines Marina Pier and is not too difficult to find. Upon entering, I was greeted by the coordinators, Lei and Aimee. Both are a riot! They have great personalities and provide a warm and welcoming presence. Beyond that, they are very transparent in the fees and are knowledgeable in any questions I had about billing issues.Elaine has been my hygienist twice now and I think she is wonderful. She performs a thorough job, while also providing excellent patient care. The clinic even provides headphones to listen to music and make the process more pleasant.Dr. Reeves is absolutely wonderful. Dr. Reeves utilizes very modern tools and techniques to help maintain the health of my teeth and gums. For a while now, I occasionally get pain when I brush my teeth. Never knew why and I see a dentist once a year. Dr. Reeves and Elaine noticed that I had gum recession that would eventually pose a problem. When I heard that I would need surgery, my heart sank.Fortunately, instead of the old conventional grafting technique that involves scalpels and sutures (very painful), Dr. Reeves utilizes the new Pinhole Surgical Technique that is scalpel-free, suture-free, graft-free and a whole lot less painful!It is the culmination of the culture, staff, new technologies, and overall care that has won me for life at this clinic. I highly recommend this clinic to everyone who wants excellent patient care.

Im from the old school when as a child Novacane was new and my parents decided we wouldnt have this done. So I was white knuckle dentistry for decades. Dr Durantes, new to the Dental Office, and his assistant Irena put me at ease, reminded me to breathe and made sure i was comfortable. Dr. Durantes was also soothing and the entire process of preparing for a crown was easy and relaxing. There was no pain during or after and Im looking forward to my new crown in two weeks. The Office has always been professional and Im thankful it still is.

These guys are amazing. I broke a crown on one of my front teeth. Not very attractive at all. I did a web search and found the Des Moines Dental Center and read the reviews. Everyone was correct. These guys are amazing! I called in at 8:00 a.m. and explained my situation. They were extremely busy as the Doctor had just returned from vacation. However they made room for me and I was sitting in the chair by 8:30 a.m. Everyone was so nice and they took great care of me. No pain and in short order I had a temp that looked better than the old crown before it broke. I was a new patient and they still got me in. Thank you Dr. Reeves an your team.

I had never been to a dentist in my life, but I had an awful toothache, so I called Des Moines Dental Center and they were able to get me an appointment right away. The staff was friendly, down to earth, and helpful. Dr Reeves was awesome (not scary at all like they say dentists are). Since it turns out I need to have my wisdom teeth removed, he referred me to an Oral Surgeon that was able to get me in very soon.I had some issues with my dental insurance, they werent able to look me up right away and stuff, which was my insurance fault, but the staff was very nice about it and I was able to call back after my appointment and get everything set up for my insurance to be billed.This review is probably TMI, but since I make a lot of my decisions based on the Google reviews, I like to share my experiences as well.

I dont like getting my teeth worked on...period. Ive had so many unpleasant experiences. Id rather neglect my mouth. Then I found this wonderful dental office and my whole dental outlook has changed. Great customer service, top notch work and they help keep you on track. I wouldnt go anywhere else for my dental needs!

I had an appointment scheduled for a month. Had received numerous text and emails to confirm the appointment. I answered all communications confirming the appointment.The day of the appointment I receive a call asking if I can reschedule for an earlier time because the doctor had an emergency. Unfortunately due to work conflicts I was not.During our conversation the receptionist told me the reason why the appointment needed to be rescheduled was not because of an emergency but because the doctor wanted to leave to the airport a little bit sooner then previously anticipated. He was attending a conference.With the 27th day of the government shut down, they waited until the day of the appointment to reschedule. Obviously, honoring an appointment was not as important as getting to the airport earlier was to the doctor.I was offered a rescheduled appointment for the following Monday. When I voice my unhappiness I was placed on hold for an extended period of time. The receptionist, Amy made me feel as if I was no longer wanted as a client because I had voice my unhappiness. By the time she had come back from hold I had already scheduled an appointment with another dentist in the area.I have referred numerous clients to this facility and in the past and had enjoyed working with them up until this time.Had this been a true emergency I would have been more than happy to rearrange my schedule in order to accommodate their schedule. I understand life happens. But did not consider that to be a true emergency but rather a convenience for the doctor, not the client.

Great staff, excellent dental work. Dr. Reeves did an amazing job on two crowns that I needed and was able to accommodate my urgent schedule. I can highly recommend the Des Moines Dental Center.

Excellent care

The receptionist (Office manager) was rude and condescending to my wife on several occasions for asking basic clarifying questions. Her tone of voice indicated that she thought my wife was asking stupid questions. Her tone of voice also indicated that she was above others. This is a poor impression of this establishment as the first person you talk to and see. The other staff was nice and friendly but my family will no longer visit this dental office.

I give this place two stars only because the hygienist was really cool. 5000 dollars for 4 crowns is a crazy price! Theres much better dentists fairly close in the area that dont overcharge.

Dr. Reeves and the team are amazing! I had a filling fall out over 2 years ago and had got to the pain point that I couldnt handle it anymore. They had gotten me in quickly and he did a root canal that day to stop the pain. He did such an amazing job that I had very little pain the next day and wasnt dreading going back for the processes of a crown. The temporary crown is now in place and once the permanent is in, Ill definitely keep up with yearly exams and cleaning. Amiee and Lei greet you with a smile and send you home laughing. Truly has been the best experience Ive ever had with a dental team.

I flew in from Atlanta for a conference and as it stands my brother already had an appointment to see Dr Reeves, I asked if I could go with that I had terrible tooth ache, 1.5 hrs after landing I was sitting in dentist chair!!! I had to have root canal, I had no pain and the office was great. So so thankful to them for seeing me so fast and giving me relief !! Thank you is not enough!!!

Des Moines Dental Center, where should I begin? Let’s be real, nobody wants to go to the dentist and if you’re like me and had the same dentist for years but have recently relocated, the task of finding a new dentist you trust can be daunting. I will say that I tried a couple in the area before finding Des Moines Dental Center by complete chance, because it was conveniently located about the coffee shop I like to frequent. Let me just say I was not disappointed THEY ARE AMAZING and I’m a tough customer! I looked up their website, read a few reviews and decided to give it a whirl. First, Aimee, who answered the phone, was helpful and completely willing to work with my crazy schedule. We found a time that would work, she set me up for text and e-mail reminders, let me know that I could print the paperwork online and bring it with me to my appointment. The lobby area is very inviting and Aimee and Lei have a friendly banter going, which puts you at ease. It wasn’t long before cheerful dental assistant Nichole, brought me back and explained that she would be taking images of my jaw so the doctor can evaluate my entire dental health, then sat me in a chair gave me water and a magazine to pass the time while I waited. Dr. Steven Reeves was the next to introduce himself and walk me through the images, check my teeth, etc. He was very no nonsense and explained that I did need 3 fillings, right off the bat I trusted him and not only because of his 30 years of experience but because of the way his office operates and his straightforward demeanor. He cares for people and that became obvious quickly. Dental Hygienist was next (there was a bit of a wait for this part, but had a magazine and they allowed my headphones) Jenni was very friendly, careful, gentle and took extra caution in rinsing each section thoroughly (grit is one of my dental pet peeves :-), overall one of the best hygienists I’ve been to and she even scheduled my next cleaning with me for 6 months so I won’t forget and many options for the goody bag (unusual in my experience)! Back at reception, Lei handled my estimate for the fillings and patiently explained my insurance coverage, answered all my dumb questions and patiently found the soonest available time I could make work with my job. Now, came the not so fun part, getting the fillings - I was absolutely dreading it and prepared for what could be hours with my work, etc. I arrived at my appointment was brought back immediately, Nichole started the local anesthetic and the doc came in and administered the novocaine shots, he was very smooth and quick, I felt very little, waited ten minutes until I was fully numb (they made sure) and started work. He was laser beam focused on the task. I was impressed by the way Nichole seemed to know what the doctor needed as he needed it, I won’t lie there was some pain but they let me know that if they had had further to go they would have re-numbed, I can take pain though so glad they didn’t. They even accommodated my request to numb the other side and complete the 3rd filling so I didn’t have to come back, they did caution me to be very careful with eating and talking! The 3 fillings took almost exactly an hour and I was out of there. The doctor let me know that if anything was off with my bite when I became un-numb to come back and he would fix it for me. From what I have heard this is not a solitary experience, this is how Des Moines Dental Center operates, so safe to say I have found my local dentist and I highly encourage you to try it too!
