The staff is great, super friendly. Dr. McWhorter is wonderful!! He takes the time to listen to your issues and doesnt just rush you out the door. I would highly recommend this office.

The office staff here are have the rare combination of being efficient and capable, but also compassionate and attentive. My provider (Kara) was great - fast but not at all rushed, listened to my concerns, and gave me all the information I needed to feel comfortable with my treatment. It was easy to make an appointment and I didnt have to wait a long time.

Highlands Family Medicine has friendly service when setting up appointments and referrals. They also communicate clearly when needed. My experience with Dr. Reece was great! I would recommend to anyone seeking primary care.

The doctors are good but trying to get a referral from this place is infuriating I waited an entire month for one referral I did all the legwork myself and still had to wait a month my husband has been waiting three weeks for a dermatology referral , it’s unacceptable that it takes this long it’s almost like they don’t care or are incompetent I had to give the referral girl the information over the phone four times for god sake’s write it down, I’m planning to switch primary care shortly I’m so frustrated kinda sad cause my dr was pretty nice

A one star would be an amazing feat. Where do I begin, for one, typically you never see a fully equipped professional doctor. I have gout. Anyone with gout knows you should either one have extra medicine around or two have a professional doctor who will call in the appropriate drugs when you see a flare up. But hey - why not clip the 100+ for the visit and have your patient crying for two days prior to prescribing what drugs have zero risks to the patient. Oh, in my charts, which they refused to look at they communicated to me to phone should I have another flare up (this was a year earlier)I did go to my wife’s doctor fwiw who phoned those drugs in immediately, adding 3 subsequent refills should inBUT HERE is the best of all. My wife has a history of Addison’s disease. For months repeatedly she would go to the office running through symptoms. Multiple times, I quote, the doctor communicated to her she must simply be a tired Mom. Tests or proper procedure - why bother? Oh, and the fact that’s she has a history of a fatal adrenal disease, who would notice. By the time she finally rose to the point here we had to admit her to the emergency room for multiple nights, it was too late.When she finally had an appointment with a real doctor... the comment was clear, “you are incredibly lucky you are still alive.”Thank god she made it thru the emergency room visit. Thank god she is still with us because she is an amazing wife and mother.

If you love wasting your time this is the place for you! Been a patient for a year and only had two appointments. At both my appointments blood work was ordered and both times the blood work discussed in my appointment was not ordered and messed up. The doctor (Kara Burkhardt) did not follow up with me, and the only way I knew about the errors was after multiple calls requesting my blood test results. I told the front desk about this issue, nobody every followed up with me.Regarding their reply- I already called last week and you said you’d get back to me. You never followed up. What a joke.

I’m an established patient and needed a Covid test. They did not explain very well that I’d receive a text for my telemedicine appointment but said they’d call at my specified time. It’s Friday afternoon.I waited and waited for a call and decided to call the office. I missed my “text” because I didn’t understand the process. Emily, the PT, was the person who was to do my telemedicine appointment. When I called back she was with someone and by 4:15 she left for the day. Couldn’t she have done this appointment at the end of the day? Doesn’t she work an entire shift?? Is she that lazy? I’m sure it would have been a bother. I’m so upset. I now can’t get an appointment at urgent care until Sunday. (I don’t need to go to ER). They knew I needed this test to enable me to get on my international flight (required for work)...which I’ll now miss. I just needed her “testing order” so I could get tested at the hospital. It would have taken 5 minutes of her time.

I would absolutely recommend seeing Dr Ana! She’s patient and a great listener. She takes the time to really hear your symptoms and give a thoughtful assessment. She also went to bat for me when my prescription was crazy over priced and helped to get a lower price. Thankfully I don’t have to go to the dr often, but when I do I know it’ll be a great experience.

Its weird that I am excited to go back to the doctors office. As a newly insured adult, this was my first time selecting a primary car physician and I wanted to make the right choice. Naturally I chose HFM because of its location close to my home and all of their raving reviews. After a scheduling error and miscommunication they were able to get me in same day to see Dr Reece. She was more than helpful and an all around delight for my first visit in. Quickly willing to help me with the issues I had been having for over a year with some quick fixes as well as setting me up with the right specialists. I can not wait to go back and see them again to help me down my road to proper health. If you are looking for a great Primary Care Physician, Highlands Family Medicine is the place to go!

These are some of the NICEST and MOST UNDERSTANDING people in Denver. Oh my gosh, i cannot recommend them enough. Every time I walk into their office its a pleasurable and delightful experience. They have always helped me when I needed it and listen to every i have to say.

Excellent place and doctor. I saw Dr. Luke and I dont think Ive ever gotten a doctors attention/time for as long as I did here. He was so thorough in explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it. He explained what he was looking for and really did a phenomenal job. The office is comfortable and doesnt leave you feeling like youre gonna go home with a sickness caught from another patient. Loved this place.

They physician and staff listened to me. That alone made for a great experience. I didn’t have to wait and they were so good at putting me at ease. Everyone made my experience comfortable so that In the future I don’t have to worry about going to the doctor’s office. I really enjoyed seeing Dr. Reece. She is intelligent, competent and very personable.

Was able to get in in August to get a referral for physical therapy. At the time scheduled a physical. The soonest I could get an appointment was in November. Then when I got there for the appointment they wouldnt see me because I had switched jobs, and didnt have my new insurance cards. Even though my health insurance provider told me, they could talk to them and tell them I was covered. Rescheduled my physical again for January (soonest they could get me in). The day after Christmas they called to tell me they couldnt keep that appointment because the doctor was going to be out. The next soonest appointment they could get me was February. Not professional at all. Tell me you arent accepting patients and I can move on to someone that is willing to see me sometime this year.

Both of our children are Dr Kono’s patients. He is fantastic at explaining information to them during appointments so they understand what is happening. It’s also reassuring he listens to our parental concerns with compassion and gives helpful information to address the concerns. The best service we’ve experienced with the practice is the ability to call the nurses when I’m worried about a symptom or communicate via their portal when appropriate. Their response time, suggested treatments, and willingness to fit you into the calendar if you want to be seen in person has been fantastic. Being a parent can be stressful but having a pediatrician practice you trust and enjoy working with can be a life saver.

I am normally very happy with the experience I have here. I had to see a new doctor today because mine was not available. I was told to arrive 15 min early for my appointment and that they have a 5 min tardy policy. I wish patients received the same consideration. I was not called back until 40 min after my scheduled appointment time and waited and additional 10 min to see the doctor. I understand earlier appointments can run long but I live two blocks away and would have appreciated a call to let me know they were running this far behind. I had to take a half day off of work because of how long an appointment took that was only ten min of actually seeing a dr.

Have been seen in this office several times. Doctors don’t seem to take your concerns seriously. They make you come in for a visit for everything (so they can charge you for it), don’t help over the phone or allow lab work only. I am given specific follow up times and have to end up calling myself for my results. My health seems to be of no concern to anyone. Will definitely be looking for a new primary care, do not recommend.

Dr. Bednarek and his practice is the rare and remaining family practice that aims to truly care for you and your family. I cannot express my gratitude and my faith without him and his colleagues and associates. Thank you for everything you do PLUS creating new patients with my extended family, they saw firsthand how amazing he is, they switched practices. If thats not solid evidence, I would like to see the challenge.

This was my first visit, with new insurance, to see Dr. Reece. The office is lovely and everyone was very nice and helpful. The woman who checked me in asked me a few important questions about my insurance that led to me triple-checking something (and she was right - I needed to do one extra step that wasnt obvious through my insurance) which saved me a lot of hassle. Dr. Reece was so lovely - she spoke to all of my concerns. I am so happy she is my doctor!

Dr. Reece is always on top of her game. I saw her on Tuesday, August 13. She reviewed my chart before my appointment. With other doctors I have seen, they seem to scan your chart in a frenzy. She knew my concerns from last years physical and asked the status of those issues. She is very efficient and does not rush you.

Ive taken my family here for years for the convenience of there location but Im over it. You wait in the rooms forever. They always want you to come back in a few weeks to follow up on things that dont need followed up on. Just called to have a prescription filled that I need right away and they wont do it without an appointment (office policy, obviously one that they have given to me many times before). Tell me they are booked solid and should go to urgent care to get the prescription. :/

I write this review for the excellent patient care Dr. Joe (Bednerick) gives his patients. Dr. Joe is the best family practitioner I have ever worked with, I have been seeing Dr. Joe for over 5 years now, with no issues. I do happen to agree with some of the negative comments about the staff. Im not sure of what the attitude the front desk seams to have but it is totally unnecessary. This isnt an ER with gunshot wounds everywhere, so why the attitude like every patient is annoying your staff? Hoping Dr. Joe reads this and steps-in to address it.

Either I got lucky tonight or the people who wrote reviews on here are just negative about everything in their lives. It was just about the best doctor experience Ive ever had. The front desk staff, PA, and the Dr were all extremely nice. The Dr was overly thorough. He spent 30 minutes explaining every aspect of my symptoms and how to attack it. I felt like I was talking to the Discovery Channel as far as the depth he went into about my body. I am extremely impressed and will recommend this clinic to everyone. Go. You will be glad you did.

Worst doctors office and staff ever come into with. The staff is completely disorganized, the doctors are argumentative and unprofessional and I dont feel they have the patients best interest in mind. After repeated bad experiences we just cannot go here anymore.

Whatever you do, do not go here. The staff here purposefully use selective phrasing or as few words as possible to be decietful. I came in for a physical, the staff even told me to fast to prepare for the bloodwork. Once In the office, the staff was never clear that I wouldnt be getting a physical, or that I might be billed for a different procedure. The doctors visit was short and useless because she provided no information that I didnt already know, and she told me to go to another doctor for real answers. When she told me we were out of time, I asked about the bloodwork I was supposed to be getting as part of my checkup. She seemed confused that I was getting bloodwork (which should have been the first red flag) but she signed me up for it anyway. Now, if she cared about her patients, why wouldnt she ask questions about their need for the blood work? Why didnt she ask why I was expecting bloodwork if she didnt plan to treat the procedure as a checuk with bloodwork? In her lackadaisical efforts she ignored rationale and had me waste my time getting bloodwork done for an unnecessary procedure. I later learned from a trustworthy doctor that getting blood work at 1130, is stupid, because youre in a fasted state and your levels arent going to reflect anything normal. So dr reece let me undergo an unnecessary procedure with worthless results because she didnt care enough to listen or ask questions or talk to her patients and fully explain things.Dont waste your time here.

I love Highlands Family Medicine. Ive been going here for 15 years and Dr. Bednarek has been my primary care physician for over a decade. Hes delivered both of my children and has been an amazing doctor all around. Have never had an issue of any kind. Dr. Bednarek really puts the time and effort into making sure everything is going well and that youre fully taken care of.

My kids have seen Dr. Bednarek since the day they were born and, 12 years later, we still go out of our way to see him for their annual checkups even though weve moved 40 miles away.The front office staff is not always that friendly, but our doctor and the majority of the medical assistants we have seen are great.

Lauren is one of the best primary care docs Ive ever seen. She listens and she knows her stuff. I havent been to the after hours clinic, but I was impressed by the care I received from Lauren Kolfenbach.

I saw the urgent care afterours. I was seen right away. The NP and X-ray tech (sorry I dont recall names) I saw were great. Some of the bad ratings on here mention being turned away cause you showed up late... so dont be late.

Pretty ridiculous practice. Any practice that holds you hostage over a prescription​ for maintenance medication, demanding an office visit, when a copy of lab results should be more than sufficient, is obviously just looking for a money grab.

I feel like the Drs are competent, but the front office staff is awful. I was just told that it will take A MONTH to get my medical records sent to my new Dr. They also dont have the ability to do anything via email due to their antiquated non HIPAA compliant system. They are apparently stuck in the last century. Keep looking for a Drs office if you want a competent staff to deal with.

Great place! The receptionist are friendly and very helpful the Drs are kind caring and listen to your problems to try to help you. My family including my handicapped son uses them couldnt be happier.

Dr. Lukas McWhorter is the absolute WORST medical professional I have ever experienced in my life. It is going on SIX WEEKS since I severely injured my back. Dr. McWhorter will not return my calls and will not refer me for an MRI. I am 36 years old and am forced to use a walker or a cane to get around. It took a trip to the emergency room to finally get medical help. The ER doctor insisted Dr. McWhorter order an MRI. He still wont. I have never been at such a loss for words. This is not patient care.

My hands were numb and I went for a MANDATORY check up where the Dr. makes me come every 2 weeks to get my meds I have been on for 12 years and keeps trying to push new ones on me! Also I pay cash so about 200$ a month. Last time I asked why my hands were feeling numb and he told be I need to learn to breath! No exaggeration! After 10 days of breathing and loosing feeling in almost my who body...... and lots of breathing pro massages ext , I called to say its spreading now all arms and legs! When I called for help he had his Med Assit who has the brain of a toddler who said we cant help you per Dr goes to emergency room he cant and wont help me! Again no Refferal! I hope bankruptcy is in their future and these real docs who took blood bring me back to the athletic human I was!Seriously disgustedTom

I had an horrible experience at this office! I went at Dr. Lauren which was ok through the checking, i got my results back to their portal ( a nonsense thing whos always down by their sayings) I had a few questions and ask for a prescription, i never received an answer back, I sent another email trying to find excuses that they may not received the first one, still no answer. I called their office explaining the situation, they ask for my phone number saying they will call me back, of course nobody ever called back! I lost my patience and I went straight to their office, Ive been treated as Im not important and they dont care, finally a lady talked to me saying shes sorry but the portal must have technical issues and they didnt got my emails, ok i said but what about my phone call? If the portal is down there is no way to communicate with your doctor or anybody else? When Im seeing a doctor I expect to receive care and attention in order for my issue to be fixed! I wont give them not either a star or ever go back or recommend this place!

Waited all morning for a 2 minute blood draw in what seemed like an empty office. No one took the time or effort to apologize for leaving me waiting while I hadnt eaten or drank anything since the night before. I like Dr. Reese but dont expect professionalism in the other office staff.

I have been going to this practice for 26 yrs. I luv the Drs but as for the office staff they are horrible! I called yesterday at 11:38 a.m. for a appt due to having severe back pain. They stated their next opening was that at 4:30pm the next day.. they told me they would put me on cancellation list... great, they called me at 2:08 and wanted me to be there in 15 min...2 problems #1- i live further than 15min away #2 it was taking me more time to get into the car due to my back injury.. i thanked them for the call, told her i would see her at 4:30 the next day, but to plz continue to call if something opens up sooner she agreed said she would! Arrive today at 4:00 for my 4:30 appt only to be told i didnt have a appt, but yet they stilll had my name on a yellow sticky right in front of her for the cancellation list and then be told they had no time to see me.. i was in pain and by this time crying.. very poor patient service! I work in the dental field and would never think of turning away a patient let alone treating someone like they did.. didnt have a care in the world about trying to figure something out! BTW there happened to be another person before me that they didnt have on the schedule, i feel for that woman also! Its hard to leave the Drs but maybe its time for a change!

I have been a patient here for 10 years but I am over it. The staff screws my prescriptions every time (go to the pharmacy to find out they havent sent anything). The staff is not entirely rude just perfunctory and inefficient.

This physicians office should be shut down for improper care to patients. My family has never received such bad care. I went in for allergies and all Nurse LeCoq would ask me about is my past prescription history. Both my husband and daughter were in for what was later told to be the flu by other physicians. HFM told them to deal with it and take OTC. They made my 6 year old daughter suffer from a 102 degree fever and edging on dehydration for over a week before they would help her, my husband they did the same! They are playing the copay game, we wont help you on the first $35, but pay another $35 and we may..... No ethics, stay FAR away, there are way to many good physicans in the Denver area.

I hear the receptionist say well, 10:15 is her appt. time. (which was referring to me and my scheduled appt. time). The doctor tells the receptionist she will not see me because I am 5 min. late. WHAAAT? I WAS ontime and had been sitting there for 4-5 minutes at this point. I said Im sorry, I dont understand. I was here on time and USUALLY Im the one waiting for 30 minutes to see the doctor. The receptionist calls back to the doctor again but the doctor refuses to see me. I have never met this Dr. Richey. I was feeling awful - bad flu bug- drove over there etc. and this is how this office treats people. unbelievable!! I would not recommend going to this practice and make sure you tell everyone else not go there. Word of mouth and reviews make a difference. The other reviews on this place are not positive either.Who in the medical profession denies seeing a sick patient because they just dont feel like it or want a long morning coffee break? I am guessing here, but am baffled. There was no one else in the waiting room either. I asked to see another doctor and she said they were fully booked. Really?? Very sad that you call yourself Highlands Family Medicine- and supposedly care about people. You should be ashamed.

I hope you do not want to become a new patient. They have appointments available three days out but when I mentioned I would be new they said I would have to wait until the end of May. Dont say you are accepting new patients if they have to wait two months to be seen.
