Mr. Rhodus is hands down the best in the business. He kept my 50 year old unit running for years. He just replaced my unit this summer and we couldnt be happier.

On or about July the first week of July our Air Conditioner stop cooling. We have a home warranty with Old Republic. After contacting Old Republic they sent Rhodus Electric and Air Conditioning Services to our home. The first visit did not fix the problem. Upon further inspection Mr. Craig Rhodus said we needed to replace and upgrade our AC system. He submitted the repairs needed to Old Republic. This list included several items not covered by our warranty. Our portion of the uncovered repairs amounted $1325.We agreed to this figure and the parts were ordered. On or about 7/19/2017 Mr Rhodus delivered and installed the AC unit. We paid him in full at the time and he gave us a receipt marked paid in full . The new system still did not properly cool our home. When contacted Mr. Rhodus was extremely rude to my wife as well as condescending. In fact he stated Its extremely technical and women dont usually understand. At this point my wife contacted the home warranty company and requested a different contractor be assigned our case.Upon inspection by the second contractor it was discovered that Mr. Rhodus did not in fact preform numerous items I was charged for by him. When I contacted Mr. Rhodus he admitted via email that he in fact did not do said repairs. He did said we were due a $600 refund however he then for the first time stated we owed him for an additional visit in which his helper added Freon to our unit and that visit was $679. At no time previously had this been mentioned nor any charge agreed to by us.When I tried to discuss this with Mr. Rhodus he instructed me to contact his attorney. I have been told by Mr Morgan (his attorney) that a refund would be fore-coming however this has yet to materialize. It is my opinion that Mr. Rhodus is a dishonest contractor and should be penalized by the contractor board for his actions. If I could give less than 1 star I would. I have filed formal complaints with the BBB and La Contractor Board.

On May 25th, Rhodus electrical services was sent to my house by old republic home protection because my air conditioner was not cooling. Upon arrival he was shown to the attic, where the indoor portion of the unit was located. The unit had been completely turned off. He then went out to inspect the outdoor portion of the unit at which point he said a loose control panel was the problem. He said that the unit was fixed and turned it back on.The following day, when I returned home from work, I discovered water dripping through the ceiling of my bedroom. I went upstairs to find that the pan on the air conditioning unit, that he said he “fixed”, had overflowed and saturated the surrounding insulation and was leaking through the ceiling. Also of note, he had not re secured the access panel to the attic. I immediately attempted to contact Mr. Rhodus. The calls went straight to voicemail, which was full. At that point, I took pictures and texted them to Mr. Rhodus and asked that he contact me ASAP. All efforts to contact him were ignored. I then called Old republic to request that they get in contact with Mr. Rhodus and that they provide me with his certificate of general liability insurance. After being put on hold for one hour and five minutes, I was told to leave a message with the damage control department. As of this time I have still not been provided with any proof that he has general liability insurance. After 24 hours of waiting for someone (either Mr. Rhodus or Old Republic) to contact me, I again called Old Republic. At that time, they were able to contact Mr. Rhodus. Mr. Rhodus denied ever entering the attic space where the unit was located. A blatant lie, but blatantly negligent if true as he was there to find the problem with the unit. Mr. Rhodus also refused to provide the name of his general liability insurance company, as well as asking that I have no further contact with him. He relayed his attorney’s name to the representative from Old Republic and asked that all communication be forwarded to his attorney. I never spoke to Mr. Rhodus, all of this information was relayed to me by the representative from Old Republic. The Representative from Old Republic was unable to provide me with any proof of Mr. Rhodus even being properly insured, as he was supposed to be under the terms of my protection plan. The representative from Old Republic felt certain that at some unspecified future date the damage control division would be able to access that information but until then I was on my own and it was my problem to deal with. I asked the representative if Old Republic was aware that Mr. Rhodus has been involved in litigation with another of their plan holders prior to sending him into my home. The representative claimed to have no knowledge of a previous incident. To me Mr. Rhodus’s behavior indicates a clear pattern of lies and fraud which Old republic should have been aware of and done more to protect their customers from his unscrupulous behavior. As a plan holder, you do not get to choose the service professional that is sent, you must use the contractor that they choose for you, leaving you to trust that they have done their due diligence and research into the individual they are sending to your home.Mr. Rhodus’s negligence, coupled with the negligence of Old Republic are going to cost me thousands of dollars in damages, that I will have to hire an attorney to have any hope of recovering. At this point, I feel absolutely no confidence about the current existence of any insurance policy owned by Mr. Rhodus. And further, do not feel comfortable having another company come and fix the unit until such time as there is a resolution to this issue. Buyer be ware both of home protection plans and the subpar “professionals” they send into your home, as you can end up far worse for their services.
