My mother was admitted here last November 2020. COVID was hindering my sister and I from visiting our mother on our time and anytime we wanted. We were required to set up an appointment to visit her and for only 30 min and had to be outside. We were not allowed to hug or kiss our own mother. Due to COVID we were told. We never even got to see her room. I got together several frames with pictures for her room and had to leave them with the lady in the front office. She was transported to Oschner and I met the shuttle van there. My mom was wearing a hospital gown and slipper socks!! Personnel at golden told the driver that my mom had no clothes or shoes!! I immediately called to find out WHY my mom was not wearing her clothes and slippers?!?! The lady that answered couldn’t give me an answer except that maybe they were in laundry and she would find out and call me back. Late that evening she called, only to tell me that my moms clothes weren’t in laundry, they were in her dresser drawers in her room!!!!!! So about a week later she was transported again to Oschner. I got there after she was admitted and in a room. I asked the nurse several questions. She was very kind and helpful and she also added that I needed to call Golden Age to find out WHY my moms mouth and under her dentures were caked with black rotting food?!?!?! Oschner cleaned and rinsed her mouth throughly!! They said it was the worse they had seen!!!!!Golden Age TOOK FULL ADVANTAGE OF COVID!!!!!Because the families of patients there were not allowed to visit at any given time, only by appointment, which was always at least a week or more away, and wasn’t allowed in there rooms!!! We were not able to see the day to day care that was NOT BEING DONE!!!!! My heart breaks almost daily when I think about my mothers last days and the COMPLETE LACK OF CARE OR COMPASSION that she had to endure!!!! Our ONLY BLESSING was Heather Aime, a family-in-law member working there!!! On her shifts, she would feed my mom, brush her hair, talk to her, show her the pictures we sent up there, make sure she wasn’t cold, send us pictures of her, and the BEST of all, would call and let us talk to our mother!!! But she had other patients, and didn’t work every single day. If so, She would’ve made SURE that not only her hygiene was taken care of, but all of her needs!!!!My mom passed away December 21, 2020. And even though I miss her dearly, I am Thankful she’s not at Golden Age anymore!!!!! She’s with my dad and that makes me smile!!!

My Mother lived in this facility for over 5 years and the staff and management were both caring and competent. My Mother passed away recently but she had many friends at Golden Age which included staff and residents. No one likes to place their loved ones in a care facility, but Im so grateful that Golden Age was there for my Mom and my family.

We tried to call four times with two different phones They don’t answer the phone to let you know your love one is doing ok. I think that’s pretty pitiful when we pay the money we do For them to take care of them. l wouldn’t let them Yo Yo’s keep my Dog.

Called to speak with staff, they were extremely helpful. They offered lots of information, were patient and even over the phone you felt comfortable talking to them about you loved one.

If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. Mistreatment, endangerment, and neglect to the point of elderly abuse is the pitiful representation of care this facility has given. The willful deprivation and failure to provide essential human care, abandon the prescribed treatment plan, and neglect to report health changes of an infirm family member by the staff continued even after family intervention and meetings with supervisors. I am not sure the Quirk family truly knows what goes on behind the doors of their facility; still, it is shameful to mistreat our Louisiana elderly and infirm patients in the manner our family member has received.

If I could give lower than 1 star it still too much!My aunt was placed in this home 1 week ago. She is a 73lb 95 year old woman with some memory issues. After 4 days we were called and told she was getting kicked out due to WONDERING THE HALLS!My aunt was trying to go home. Isnt a retirement home a place that keeps up after your eldery loved ones? Yes, this is the only reason they gave to kick her out. Upon gathering her things to place her elsewhere, we found soiled diapers in her armoir! Yes SOILED! Isnt this a health hazard? Also, she was not given her daily medicine!!!I am looking into report this to some type of board association. Please folks, if you love your family member DONT PUT THEM HERE!It looks nice from the outside but it isnt so nice withen. LOOKS ARE DECIEVING!
