I cant say enough good things about the treatment I received. My prior endodontist said my molar had one canal too narrow to fully treat. Evidently that is not accurate because Dr. Hallam was able to fully complete the canal in short order. The treatment was quick and painless. Great job!!

Been years since I seen him but my experience was great! I’m not afraid of root canals because of him! My appointment only lasted about a total of 20 mins or so and I didn’t feel anything!!

Im the son of a retired, small town dentist, and at 48, I just had my first real dental work (a root canal on a fractured molar). Dr. Hallam was outstanding! He took the time to explain everything, made sure I was comfortable, and he was attentive to my comfort throughout the process. I feel like that level of care really sets him apart. Nobody likes going to the dentist, but Dr. Hallam made my experience as painless as it could possibly be. Hopefully Ill never need another procedure like this, but if I do, theres no question Dr. Hallam will be doing the work. If you need an endodonist, and are anywhere near Decatur, I recommend him 100%. I drove over from Champaign, and it was worth every minute of the trip.

It is with regret that I find it necessary to write this poor review of my experience with this Dr.I went to my regular dentist and he suggested I have a root canal on my far rear molar tooth.I had the root canal and a new crown put on this tooth but it kept feeling the same.My dentist then suggested I visit a specialist and have them look at the tooth also.I searched for and spoke to several people for recommendations of the finest specialists available and this Dr. was my choice.I called and they got me in very quickly, he suggested another root canal to save the tooth. He did the root canal for $1675. We were leaving on vacation three days later and every day my mouth just hurt more and more, finally on a Saturday, the day before we were leaving I could barely open my jaw.I tried to contact Dr. Hallam’s office Saturday morning and only got an answering machine, not a live answering service but an old fashion answering machine. This was a medical emergency and all I could do was leave a message for a return call when they opened on Monday, very very disappointing.I then call for my regular dentist who had a live answering service I left a message with them and he returned my call immediately. He met me at the office, and called in another assistant and suggested the only thing left would be to extract the tooth. I reluctantly agreed and the tooth was pulled. Upon inspection of the tooth he could see no issues with it.I left on Vacation early the next morning still in the extreme pain I had been in since my visit to Dr HALLAMDr. Hallam’s office called my cell phone on Monday when the office opened after receiving the message on the answering machine.I explained everything that had happened and the pain I was still in but that I was out of state on vacation. The entire week of vacation was very uncomfortable feeling the same since my visit to Dr.HallamUpon returning I spoke with a dentist and she said I probably had a hematoma caused from the last root canal, a hematoma is an enlargement of tissue due to accumulation of blood cells and fluid. It is usually caused by trauma of some sort, such as a nick from a drill, needle, or knife. blood fills the area, typically the body will reabsorb the blood cells and fluid over time but during this time which can be up to three months or more the pain and discomfort will continue. The bottom line is this: I lost a perfectly good healthy tooth, I spent $1675 on this tooth two days prior, I am still in much discomfort, pain, and unable to eat on this side of my mouth. But my real disappointment is that I have called Dr. Hallam’s office TWO TIMES to discuss this matter and have been told TWO TIMES that Dr.Hallam would return my call when he returned or was available but I have yet to ever get a returned call.I believe this ALL could have all been avoided if they would have had a live answering service like every other medical professional office. I believe the Dr. would have known what the issue was and could have explained it to me. The respect of a return call would have been the correct thing to do and still is.
