Left feeling about the same..I prefer UTSW.. most of the group therapy ran by an unlicensed counselor, which is discouraging. The Chaplin was excellent!!! Awesome Awesome Awesome ..Art therapy was ok I could do without the Yoga. I

They took really good care of me. Dr. Bushra Aziz (not sure if I spelled her last name correctly) did an excellent and compassionate job helping me help myself. Everyone on staff was great. I got along with the patients well. Everyone was calm. The unit was 100% clean and sanitary as a hospital should be. Food and snacks were good even though I was on a low fat, no salt no sugar diet because of my poor health.I wish I could remember the nurse who had me the 1st night. She was so sweet I just wanted to hug her and cry. Nobody had spoken to me like a human being in such a long time. I wished at that moment that I was normal and could know people like that in the world under much better circumstances.Overall great experience. Im actually struggling now and might try and come back. However, you have to go thru the E. R. And thats hell on earth if youre mentally ill and/or an addict. Its BAD.On the downside, I came into the E.R. as an overdose and I was out of my mind. I realize they didnt deserve to deal with that, but thats mental illness and substance abuse in the flesh. The e.r. staff laughed at me mostly, were very rude, eventually gave me an injection and I slept for two days in the E.R. alone waiting for a bed on the unit. My mothers emergency contact info is on file and on the back of my license as next of kin. I wasnt able to call until I got up there Thanksgiving day. She thought I was dead. Lets face it, police dont take missing persons reports for people like me.Anyway, I survived, happy ending I guess. If you need help, its worth it. Just do whatever they want in the E.R dont speak to them, bring a friend. Everything is taken away from you immediately and youre watched 24/7 until a bed opens up. They didnt feed me or give me IV fluids. I bet theyre sorry I lived.
