I can never find the right words to describe how grateful I am for my experience in Phoenix House and the staff. My addiction was so out of hand at such a young age that i thought i wouldnt make it past the age of 18, but Phoenix House helped me think and act otherwise. It works if you work it is a statement i thought was silly but has so much truth to it and till this day i stand by it. Ive had the opportunity to return to the facility and share my story to staff and clients that were in residential at the moment. I am now 4 years clean going on 5, about to receive my associates degree and plan on transferring to UTA and enroll in the Bachelor of Social Work program.

I arrived to Phoenix house in November 2017, and I spent Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years there. For every holiday they make sure to celebrate it normally, with lots of food and even presents! I left the day of my 17th birthday. Before coming to Phoenix house I was a very troubled teenager using a handful of drugs weekly, sometimes daily. When I arrived I told my counselor Susanna I can’t see myself getting any better and that I don’t want to get better. I went along with the program and all of the sudden I felt happier, more confident, less withdrawals, and I finally found myself! It’s interesting how much you change while being in treatment little by little every day, and you hardly notice it. When you get to the middle of treatment it’s so much easier, you have a routine, you’ve established friendships and relationships with the staff, you’ve learned about yourself, and by then you’ve probably accomplished a handful of goals. Of course you’re going to have hard days in here, it’s not possible to have a great day every day, but my motto I learned while here was, “it’s a bad moment, not a bad day.” I have now been back to Phoenix house a handful of times to talk to the girls and revisit with the staff. The facility has been renovated and looks amazing now, that I’m almost jealous! I have continued my sobriety and I’m now studying to be a ER nurse at Stephen F Austin. Although it’s been 3 years since I was admitted, I’m so happy to have changed my course in life and without Phoenix house I absolutely would not be who I am today. If you’re looking for addiction treatment program, this is definitely where you want to be.

I was reading the reviews one night looking at this place, trying to find a rehab for myself cause I needed help. Phoniex house worked me in soon and made room for me even though they didnt have room. The staff was nice and what I love the most is that they only focus on the good, when you have a bad day, they focus on the good and help you through it. I recommend this place. I went here back in 2018 and I havent used my drug of choice since. I think its pretty safe as well, regarding not being able to have access to substances. They dont allow just any visitors so its safe in that way. Call and talk to susana. She can help you figure out if this is best for you or your child. Its definitely way nicer than the other adolescent rehab facilities in Dallas.

My daughter was recently there, she is 13. Not only did they allow her to leave the facility on her own, they did so knowing she was going to leave and neglected to inform us until later in the evening after she had already done so (We live in Austin). On top of this they neglected to even give her any of her medication. When we picked up her belongings only half of her stuff was there. Had we known ahead of time this facility and its staff were going to be so lackadaisical with our child and her care, as well as all the other horror stories we are hearing from people who were there, we never would have even considered this place an option. Strongly do not recommend anyone consider this place an option.

I was a patient of this program. I am so eternally grateful for what PH taught me. I loved the staff, the whole facility is amazing. I have been there twice and the first time they were fixing to remodel, the second time they had remodeled. It is a beautiful place full of caring staff and teachings that revolve around strengths not weaknesses or past mistakes. I recommend PH to everyone who knows someone or has someone who needs help. Addiction can be treated and at PH they do it with love and respect to patients.

Please help me understand how children are repeatedly escaping your facility. What is preventing Phoenix House Dallas from keeping children safe while in your care?

Amazing Place. Save my Sons life. I could not find a word to thank Dusty, Darren and everyone who helped my son. I was interacting with Dusty on a weekly basis, she is amazing person, very well experienced and professional. My son loves both Dusty and Darren so much. I highly recommend this place for any one you care about.

Intake lady called CPS on me because my son claimed I beat him and she claimed to have seen marks on his arms but there werent any! My son did not benefit from this place. He had lots of spare time to associate with other patients regarding their drug use and not everyone was treated the same. Not all families participated and one day that I could not attend the counselor made a big deal about it. Everyone is different and takes in information differently so this could benefit other kids but certainly did not benefit my child.

Hi my name is Thomas George, I recently graduated from this program and am still doing well. This program is extremely helpful and I would recommend it to anyone who has a child with a drug issue who wants to get clean. The curriculum was extremely helpful and taught me manny things about my addiction, such as why I was addicted, what caused me to use in the first place, and so much more. I am truly grateful, especially for the staff and counselors. Special thanks to: Derren, Vince, Brady Kim, Mariella and My councilor Megan

I came to PH in 2016 and everything I learned and went through there I will carry with me the rest of my life. Dusty helped me see the beauty in life and taught me how to cope with the ugly. She was/is one of the best counselors you could ever have bc she cares SO much and never gives up. I’m so thankful for all the friends I made there that I will have in my life forever. Shout out to Dusty, Ms. Michea, Grandma, Mr. Porter, Morgan, Drew, Steve, Tanya, Ms. Ivy, Ms. Latina, and Mr James. Y’all are the besstttt and I miss y’all ❤️ I think about Phoenix House every day.

My daughter went here and during the ELEVEN weeks she was there none of her issues were addressed and or worked out. It is basically a glorified babysitter for your troubled teenager. The counselor she was given was passive aggressive and kept having mommy syndrome with her while fully being aware she has a mother. The director is difficult to work with and simply uncooperative. They are just earning a paycheck. Very few of the employees there actually want to help the kids.

I don’t understand while in the time my lady has been in the food portions and callarie intake has become pitiful. It has changed twice each time feeding our loved ones less and less. On top of the fact that these “caretakers” ignore true signs of needed care. No perscriptions are given. This company through what evidence I have of a loved one being there who is a chef, who knows what the body needs to at minimal survive, completely ignores medical issues. Ask the local police department it’s all public record. There have been people being denied there needed meds causing seizures, and other unwanted issues in any human body. The local police and paramedics have warned that if they continue to have to rush “clients” to the hospital due to negligence of the meds they physically need. Not want. They will pull funds and shut this facility down. I don’t understand why that has not happen. Or why an investigation has not been pursued. I know it is state sanctioned and funded. These facilities need to be healed at the same if not better standard than any jail. Though they are not. I’m livid. I want an investigation opened. Check that facilities phone records you can see how often they actually call due to the actions or (lack there of) of the staff involved. This needs to be addressed and I don’t believe I am the only loved one or family member that believes this. Feel free to contact me if you have question. I’m open to your excuses as a facility in whole.
