I gave it some time and this is actually a great place to put a loved one. The nurses just dont want to be sued for you not wearing a mask and leaving sick. Its understandable, I thought I was being harassed but they were just following protocol.

Most of the day staff were good. Night staff had a lot to be desired. Took forever for someone to answer the nurse light. We waited 25 minutes for someone to take my cousin to the bathroom. Then I had to get someone. Her roommate fell because she had to go to the bathroom and no one came to help her. She fell going by herself because she couldnt wait any longer. She had to be taken to the hospital. My cousin had to wait so long for her meds that her pain was at the max. I have been to several rehab facilities. This is one of the worst. I recommend you research rehabs before going to this one.

The staff is amazing!! Nurses, CNAs, receptionists, social workers....all very compassionate while caring for my dad and the entire family. My brothers and I have been dealing with various skilled nursing facilities and hospitals for a decade and we were always less than impressed with the majority of the facilities. What a difference with this place...nothing but good things to say about our experience!!

Within hours of moving in to Cedar Crest for a short term rehab stint, we knew we needed to get my mother out.For starters her beds headboard shared a wall with the employee bathroom which is used 24 hours a day, with employees slamming the door all night, or arguing outside. Impossible to sleep through the night. Her TV wasnt working when she arrived and after asking 5 or 6 people who said they would Put in a work-order was fixed 4 days later. One day she was left on the toilet in the bathroom for over half an hour, and hilariously was listed by the CNAs during that time as Refusing to get dressed. Her much needed therapy seemed to be completely random, often times nobody showing up all day. One time they fabricated that my mother decided to Opt Out for therapy for the day, which was not true.I immediately started to work on getting her transferred out, which proved difficult considering her case manager never answered the phone, and wouldnt return my voicemails in a timely manner. We finally got her transferred to a new facility (with some well worth it out-of-pocket costs) and never looked back.

I just returned from Independence Way at Cedars. My recovery was easier because of the great nursing staff, physical therapy dept., and the TLC given to me by every member of the staff. The spacious accommodations were much more home-like than I ever expected. Thanks to all involved in my care; I am feeling much better today. - Ray Tessier

My mother had absolutely the best of care while during her stay there. He absolutely loved all of the staff and even when it was her birthday they made arrangements in the big room with the piano and we had a beautiful birthday party for my mother and she was so happy and she just loved all of the stuff and they were wonderful toward her treated her like family and with the utmost of compassion and love!! The CNAs and the nurses and the staff have so much to do and a lot of patience to take care of and considering all of this they did a wonderful job because my mother was suffering very badly with cancer and other problems related to the cancer and they just was so wonderful to her I really cant say enough about The Cedars. They made her stay so comfortable and happy at a time when she needed the most thank you so much and I appreciate it to everyone there you are all so wonderful and do not think that you go unappreciated because not everyone is able to post and they do appreciate you immensely More Than Words Can Say

Was there for ten days. The staff that took care of me was amazing at all times. Place is Super nice and Super clean. My problem was with therapy. All of the therapists are very knowledgeable and outgoing. The system is where I find fault because it is all insurance and money motivated. I had a major surgery. DOUBLE KNEE REPLACEMENT . A couple of my first days there I didnt want rehab and because of this they wrote rude comments in my file. I was preapproved by my insurance to stay there till may 25th if needed. When they found out that I was leaving after my doctor appointment today their attitudes changed. I asked for 3 days to get a set of crutches and a cane to take home so I could get in my house. They kept blowing me off like I was crazy. I dont understand but Im glad Im home and I will have therapy here. And by the way I asked them to set up home care for me and they refused that too. They said I was AMA which means I was leaving AGAINST MEDICAL ADVICE. Also I supposedly had a doctor named Bellivue THAT NEVER SHOWED UP TO MY ROOM FOR 10 DAYS BUT WAS CALLING ALL THE SHOTS. WHAT A JOKE AT $400 a day.Again all staff like my NURSES, CNAS , CLEANING STAFF ECT. WERE EXCELLENT !!I WONT EVEN GET INTO MEDICATION BUT I ONLY TOOK EXTRA STRENGTH TYLENOL.AND SOMETIMES I WAS HASSELL ED ABOUT THAT TOO.FNOUGH SAID

My mother was sent to Cedar Crest for PT and to heal, following surgery for a fractured hip. Unlike many of their patients, she is a “young” 69 years old, very active, independent, etc, who generally is healthy and vibrant. However within one week of her stay, I saw a transformation that haunts me to this day. In short, my mother takes a specific medicine, four times daily, which she has been on for over 20 years. This medication MUST BE TAKEN AS PRESCRIBED and NEVER decreased suddenly. Within a few days she began to demonstrate extreme personalty changes, so I inquired about her medications. Sure enough, the staff had cut down her dosage from 4 times a day to only twice a day! Apparently it was incorrectly noted in the discharge records from the hospital, which is not The Cedars fault. HOWEVER once I made them aware of the situation, they refused to take steps to verify the proper dosage (i.e. call her pharmacy, call her Primary Care physician, etc). INSTEAD with each passing day my mothers mental state continually declined to the point where she could not do therapy, (the reason why she was there!) I was informed that one doctor covered the entire facility and I needed to contact him to get her dosage back to normal. By chance we had a friend in common, so I WAS able to call him and get the dosage straightened out. But it was too late. On her 7th and final day at Cedar Crest she suffered a Tonic Clonic SEIZURE at 5am, and was rushed by ambulance BACK to the hospital where the cause was determined to be withdrawal from that medication.I only wish her complaint was about lousy food, bugs, overworked staff and rude service... ALL OF WHICH SHE EXPERIENCED (Excepting two very special staff members Benny and Zeke, who went out of their way to attempt to make her stay a pleasant one.)Im not looking to talk to anyone about this. I only forward this story to assist someone considering this establishment for their loved one.

This may be a beautiful clean facility but you’re not going there for a vacation . Most of the nurses & CNAs were nice , except for the one who over medicated my mother and put her in an oxy stupor for 3 days!! I was floored, and never got an apology from ANYONE! I couldn’t tell you anything about the Dr because we never met her !! She never checked on my mother once , not even after she was over medicated !!? My mother had a cervical spine surgery and as a result could not lift her arms fully (c5 palsy) and she was very weak & unsteady . She walked with a walker. She was discharged way too soon , after 15 days . I was in shock ! I expected her to be there a good month in her condition . She couldn’t even get herself out of bed on her own or lift herself off of the toilet, she required assistance . When I questioned this, PT then started to help her with bed transfers -3 DAYS BEFORE THEY WERE DISCHARGING HER. She also never got any OT in regards to how to bathe or shower safely when home. Because my mother lives alone I took her home to my house , 3 weeks later she ended up with Pulmonary Embolisms & spent another week inpatient at MGH. The Dr there suggested another rehab stay as he could clearly see she was still very de-conditioned from surgery ! She then went to Life Care of Attleboro where she received great care ! The nurses and therapists were all great ! The house Dr even made rounds EVERY morning ! The therapists worked with her on showering safely and gave us a list of items she will need at home. We also received an invite to have a meeting prior to discharge about how she was doing & the progress she made . Never got that at the Cedars... She also stayed at Life Care a little over 3 weeks, they didn’t push her out before she was ready!! All I can say is Do your research before sending a loved one to any rehab facility! And remember just because it’s a beautiful facility doesn’t mean the care is good!*oh and another thing , my mother had a sore on her tailbone upon discharge . They told me this wasn’t a bedsore , it was just from moisture & to use desitin on it. Well sure enough the VNA told me it was a bedsore & while inpatient at MGH the wound care team evaluated her. She now has a stage 4 bedsore and is seen weekly for this!

My mother and sister were admitted to Cedar Crest with injuries recently. Although most of the staff are wonderful workers/caring people i.e. James, Benny, Norma, Adeka other names slip my mind (with a few exceptions one being Haley), we found there to be very poor communication with staff in general and changes of shift. The place looks nice on the inside and outside but try to get help to go to the bathroom!! You have to wait an average of 20 minutes (not too bad) on a good day and at LEAST 45 minutes on a bad day. Sadly, we found this place to be short staffed or working at a bare minimum almost everyday making the wait to relieve oneself unacceptable. The staff and nurses were often times confused as to how to set up my moms leg in her bed. Per my moms surgeon, she was told that her leg must be elevated on a pillow. But, when family and friends would visit staff needed to be reminded or seemed confused as to what had to be done for her basic needs so she could HEAL after her SURGERIES!When I spoke to nurses about issues/concerns the messages didnt get relayed to CNAs. It was not only frustrating but frightening!! The dietary department also kept sending the wrong meal beverage requests for my mom. I had to speak with at least four staff and dieticians at least two times over the phone before my moms choices were to her liking. This place has a lot of potential. I was hoping to have a great experience especially since its a nursing home very close to where me and my family reside. We had several other issues (my mom almost fell twice, reusing ace bandages over and over again instead of changing them) but this is basically an idea of our experience at The Cedars.Management if you are reading this more staff on duty is a MUST for BASIC care and reminders for staff to communicate with one another is a MUST so doctors orders are followed properly.Basically, not having enough staff to do important jobs in health care is unacceptable.
