Asked for something completely different through email and when I got there was told they couldn’t do it. Got my hair done anyways with something the stylist said would look good. Didn’t touch my roots and didn’t tone it either. Payed $200 and left looking so ugly. Had to get my hair dyed back to black to cover it up and my hair finally looks good again. Would never go back (:

This salon is amazing! I’ve been seeing Breecia for 3 years and she’s the best hairstylist I’ve ever had! She’s so talented (especially with blonde hair) and I always look forward to my appointments with her.

I used to love this salon. Things have definitely changed and a lot of the regular stylists have left. My stylist left the salon and started her own business out of her home, so I hadnt been here in over a year. However, she went on maternity leave, so I scheduled here to get my hair done in the meantime because I had positive experiences in the past.They got me in quickly. I also tried to get an appointment for my husband and I thought it was odd that they said the same stylist they put me with could not see us both because they didnt do male haircuts. My husband had to wait several hours to see a different stylist to get his hair cut. That should have been my first clue that it wasnt the same place anymore.My experience this time was really weird. I kept getting the feeling the stylist I was scheduled with was very new to hairstyling. They had the secretary, who was not at all trained in hair, mix the color for them. That made me really nervous because I heard the secretary ask the stylist how do I know what a millimeter is? I also felt this was unprofessional because I was paying for a trained professionals time. This was the first red flag.The second was how long it took them to do my hair. In the past I was in and out in 2-2.5 hours. This stylist took about 4 hours to do the same thing to my hair... And that was with help from the secretary.The third was during the cut. I mentioned I just wanted the same thing I had, a trim, and long layers. The stylist said they never cut hair wet only dry, which I felt was a weird choice because no one has ever done this with my hair and made me nervous because I have very poofy hair that dries randomly wavy. I dont believe I ever saw the stylist check/compare the sides to see if they were even. They styled my hair with curls, I believe, to hide the mistakes and imperfections because I didnt initially notice the issues. However, when I got home and washed it, and let it air dry, it is now somehow less manageable than before, eventhough I came in with split ends. It doesnt lay well at all and is actually poofier. Maybe this person isnt used to cutting coarser/thicker hair... But it wasnt well blended and didnt subtract any weight from the length. I have a tiered shelf of layers instead of ones that gradually blend and this just adds to the frizz. In the back, rather than a shaped cut (like a U or V like my regular stylist does), it is blunt across like a long bowl cut, which isnt flattering to my hair type at all. Straightening it with a straightener makes the flaws in the cut really stand out. Im just throwing it up in a bun until my regular stylist gets back from leave and can fix it. Maybe this type of haircut works well for other hair types but was a definite no-go for me and I am disappointed at how unmanageable it is now, particularly because I wanted to look nice for my upcoming birthday.Despite having a non-professional mix the color, it was fortunately fine and I liked the lighter tone, so that part went well at least. Its gone a bit brassy, but thats probably very fixable with toner shampoo. They offered to book me a toning appointment, but after my experience I dont think I want to go back.The stylist was a nice person, and I know if I called and expressed my concern with the haircut the stylist probably be willing to go in and work on it, but Im honestly not confident they have the skill to fix it at this point and I dont want to lose any more length trying, so Im just living with it. Its easier to hide a bad haircut than bad color, so I can live with it for now by just putting it up in a bun until my regular stylist can see me again.I think the worst part of all was the price. Its definitely gone up. This particular person charges $50 more than the one I was seeing out of her home salon. I definitely dont think I got $50 more from the experience and I wonder if they charge by the hour and thats why it took them so long to finish. The color service was good, the haircut was not. Its sadly just not the salon it was anymore.

My stylist JILL is INSANELY good. I had a vision on how I wanted my hair to look like, and she rolled with the punches and it looked EXACTLY how I wanted it to look. She is super professional, gentle with my head, and she blended SO WELL. Ask for Jill when you come here!

I was a regular client at this salon for YEARS. Ciara was my stylist and she did amazing work for the 5+ years I went to her. However when the pandemic started, neither Ciara or the stylists around her seemed to take it very seriously. The cleaning between sessions was minimal and few of them kept their masks all the way on. Not only that but when Ciara left the salon, she told me she would be leaving later than she actually did and was not able to keep our next appointment, I did not receive any communication from her I just got an automated text telling me my appointment had been cancelled. I didn’t get referred to another stylist, yet Ciara took the time to refer my sister (who had not even been a client for as long) to Steph. Steph was incredibly unresponsive when I reached out to her to make my next appointment and when she did finally text back, it was with short answers. I was never able to get her to respond enough to get an appointment with her. I called the salon and was told to make an appointment online, I couldn’t get any info on available stylists or anything. Now I am left to find a new stylist and my wedding is coming up. It’s hard enough to find a stylist that can work with curly hair and now that people are getting vaccinated, stylists are crazy booked! I am very disappointed in the customer service provided by this salon and its stylists, the quality of service here has definitely diminished over the years and now it’s over priced.

My stylist, Jill, is AMAZING to say the least. Every time I go in, she gives me exactly what I am going for, and I always leave satisfied. She is great at communication and always acts professionally. To anyone looking for a trustable, kind, and bomb stylist, I definitely recommend Jill!

Mackenzie is the expert for blondes! I love my color. Its the best Ive ever had, and I have been coloring my hair for about 20 years. Shes a young gun, and I loved that she consulted with her colleagues for advice about my color and cut. And as far as the salon goes, the collaboration was like none I have seen.She did exactly what I wanted, and it was an excellent experience.

LAUREN! She’s everything you would want for a hair stylist. I know going to a new hair stylist is super scary and hard to trust anyone with your hair that you love so much..but you can trust Lauren. She does exactly what you ask and focuses on you the whole time. I wanted a simple fix after our appointment and she had me come in the next day, on her day OFF to come get that little fix that I wanted. She truly wants you to be happy with your hair. Couldn’t have had a better experience :)⭐️I have to say though I originally had an appointment with Jane and waited two months for my scheduled appointment. She canceled on me day of, and only gave me one day to reschedule. I told her that one day wouldn’t work for me and asked for any other day she could reschedule me and she never got back to me.

I went to the salon for some time and my stylist was Breecia. My first visit I actually loved, was trying to grow out my natural color and she did do a great job in getting my color blended so I could grow out my roots. However at one point I went in for a cut and showed her a picture and she ended up cutting nearly 5 inches more off my hair than I requested, and cut the back of my neck while doing so. I was extremely disappointed with the length/cut but left knowing nothing could really be done at that point....I would (sadly) just have to take a lot of time to grow my hair back out. When I finally returned for a follow up trim, I specifically asked for just a half inch and told Breecia that last time I left devastated by the way too short length she gave me and I wanted to make sure I was communicating what I wanted. She did the trim no problem, I left satisfied . When I contacted her again to schedule another trim she told me she felt like she couldn’t make me happy and refused to see me as a client. Like most millennials, I don’t think she valued feedback because most of them can do no wrong. This salon is overpriced, and if their stylist can’t accept any feedback from a client, then they are in the wrong business. Grateful to have found a new stylist at lunatic fringe after dealing with Breecia’s ego.

I have been going to Diana Willardson (Owner) for over 10 years for my hair and when she first opened up Salon Shag I was so excited and have loved coming ever since!The staff is awesome! Everyone is friendly, remembers your name, etc. They are definitely their own little family.The atmosphere is great, always a good vibe when you walk in and continues throughout the time you are sitting in the chair.Each stylist is very talented, but they also all have their own unique niche that makes everyone stand out in their own different way. Unprofessional and unresponsive. I tried to book an appointment via the salon’s phone number but was told by the receptionist that I needed to text Ciara or DM her on Instagram to book an appointment. I texted her and never heard back. I then sent her a DM on Instagram - it says that she read it, but never responded. I texted her one last time to try to book, and never heard back. 3 attempts and no response, and it’s the only way to book. You’d think it wouldn’t be so hard to get a simple response. I would’ve totally understood if she had just replied and said she didn’t have time or would have to get back to me. To not respond is rude and unprofessional. Very disappointing as I was planning on finding one stylist and being loyal to them. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

I was nervous at first about switching to a new salon, but Kendall was so great! She was kind and thoughtful and took the time to explain everything that she was doing. She colored and cut my hair and I am SOO happy with the end result. I will definitely be coming back!

Very disappointed! Ive been to 2 salons in my life. Both made me realize i dont like salons. I had extensions put in and the cost of it was 650.00. She charged me an additional 140.00 for trying to lighten my hair because the weft they bought didnt match my hair color. I came in for a consultation and she matched my hair with hair samples. When i left the salon it was curled and beautiful. When i got home it was two different colors. I tried to get in to have it fixed. 3 weeks was the soonest. I couldnt go that long. Called back and complained they could squeeze me in in a week and a half. I still couldnt deal with 2 tone obvious extension hair. I tried to dye it and it wont take color. That is why she tried lighren my hair. Waste of money.

Wonderful place, I had a dramatic change of hair, I walked in with 24 in of hair and walked out with 12in in a beautifully styled hair cut that really looks great defiantly coming back! My hairstylist really calmed my nerves because I knew I was going to donate most of my hair. Once we started cutting she was really an amazing conferring person and everyone around was just as supportive. Great people great service and fantastic experience overall

I have been several times myself now (for cut, extensions, and color) and even taken each of my children for haircuts and each time, I have received outstanding service. The stylists Ive used (Moraya and Jessica) are well-educated, talented, and delightful. Their prices are very reasonable. The front desk staff members are always courteous and professional. It is apparent that the salon is committed to excellence all around.

Very nice looking place, and friendly people! I liked the cut somewhat, but the color was very different than what I wanted. Ive been to many salons, and this one is quite a bit over priced for what you get. Ive received the exact same result at other salons for $100 less. I dont think I will be returning.

Unresponsive and unprofessional. I went onto the website to book and was given a number to call to schedule. I called that number and they said the only way to book is to message the stylists on Instagram. Ive never heard of a salon doing this as the only form of scheduling, but I happily obliged. I wasn’t sure which of the stylists I wanted to go to, so I messaged four of them (one of them even had a phone number, which I also texted). Not a single one of them responded and it’s been two weeks now. I’m very confused why this is the case, and why you’d solely rely on hairdressers to book if they can’t even do it. This made me wonder what kind of customer service experience I would’ve received if one of them had even responded.

This place and all the people in it are adorable. The salon itself feels super stylish which makes me feel like I can trust the stylists too and I could! I went there twice before I moved but I loved my experiences both times. I thought the stylist I went to (Jessica R.) was super sweet and helpful and she did a great job. My hair is a little stubborn so it did turn out a little darker than I planned, but my hair has been consistently difficult for stylists everywhere my entire life, so Im not faulting her. The prices are not particularly cheap, but I like that because I want to go to a nice place where they are going to do a good job, not just give me a good deal on a crappy cut. Anyway, if youre looking for a chic and reliable place to get your hair done well, this is it.

Had high hopes for this place but very disappointed. My haircut was really bad. Looked great when she sent me out the door with it all styled but when I had to wash and style it myself the horrible haircut was very noticeable.I also had product recommended to me-a $37 smoothing cream that made my hair super flat. When I went to return it (after literally using one pump) they said they don’t except returns after any use. So I am just out the $40.A horrible haircut just in time for the holidays. :(

One of worst salons I have ever visited back in September and I have been to a lot worldwide.My hair was not done the way I had asked. Next day it turned ginger. The color was rushed, colorist not very friendly and made me realize that price and a stylish salon isnt everything.I have been to other salons in Salt Lake since who had agreed with me that this salon is just a fancy place that cant deliver and had clients who came to them for a hair fix.Do yourself a favor ladies, go to a reputable place, you could not pay me to go back here, once was enough.Never again.

I have been to this salon 3 times now, and the first two times I had Lauren and I loved it!! She was the first one to get my blonde *just right.* Unfortunately she was booked the next time I needed an appointment, and so I took an appointment with another stylist. I was 6 minutes late to my appointment due to a car crash on the freeway and the stylist had attitude with me from the second I walked in, saying that she couldnt do what I had booked because I was just 6 minutes late. I asked if my boyfriend could come see my hair (he was waiting in the lobby) and she gave attitude to him. I said I was looking for icy blonde when she was toning me, and it pulled warm. Just a week later and I have orange roots. I personally texted Lauren and she quickly offered to fix my hair at no charge (love her!) I love this salon but the customer service from this last visit needed a step up.

With all the great reviews this place has I was really disappointed with my experience here. I booked an appointment for a consultation, and a few days before that appointment the consult was moved without my knowledge. When I called them to see what happened they didnt even know my appointment was on the books and fit me in with another stylist. which I was okay with, but when I showed up for my appointment she was in the middle of another service and just kindof had me sit in the corner and talk to her. She didnt even look at my hair, She gave me her phone number so I could make an appointment and I texted her the same day to set it up with no response. I really like the salon and the work that comes out of there but I will not be going back. Very unprofessional.

I feel like I’ve won the salon lottery!! Moved from AZ in August and worried I wouldn’t be able to find someone who could get blonde right. Diana Willardson (owner) is AMAZING! Not brassy, not too bright, just a perfect soft blonde that makes me look like a natural;) Love her, love the salon. Everyone is so friendly, and the salon itself is darling! Hands down the dopest of the dopest places in SLC to get a great cut, why go any where else. Talented staff, clean well kept salon, and just an all around wonderful experience. I had no idea what it was like to actually have a hair cut done by a professional until I stumbled across this gem.

To start off, the salon is very pretty and clean looking, that I did like.The girl that did my hair seemed like an honest kind person, I had texted her days before my appointment to figure out how much it would cost so I was prepared. I came into the salon with cash because thats what she said was appreciated. We went over with each other what was being done, she never mentioned it would be any more money than what we had gone over. At the end she gave me a price that was 40 dollars more than discussed and she said its because I got a hair cut, although she just trimmed my hair maybe an inch or less. If you are going to charge $40 (which is a little bit ridiculous) to trim off less than an inch of hair I think that is something you should really go over with your client.Im giving this rating two stars instead of one because my hair does not look bad, although she was working on another client while she was working on mine which made me feel like she was rushed. It looks good, I wouldnt say the best ever, but the experience could have been %100 better.

My wife drove all the way up here from provo, after setting an appointment with brisha. When she got there they immediately told her they would have to push her appointment back. Then while she was waiting Brisha text her saying to not even bother coming back and that she didnt have time for her anymore, and that shed have to come back sometime next week.
